Lôc Japanische Ramen Mainz in Mainz

We ordered three dishes, and unfortunately, none of them were very tasty. Too much unnecessary garnish, too little vegetables (steamed, etc.), and completely confusing sauces. Even the pho contained canned carrots (??) and mushrooms. Our Asian taste buds were completely bewildered. Sadly, we left without eating. What a shame.

We were out for dinner as a couple. Despite asking, we were seated at a cramped table for two. We then inquired and were able to get a regular table in the restaurant, which was only about a third full. However, we were told that it was reserved in 1.5 hours. This wasn't a problem for us, but we would have appreciated it from the start. The food was very good. The restaurant is one of the best places for Vietnamese/Thai food. Unfortunately, they haven't accepted card payments for years, using the excuse "the owner doesn't want that," hence only two out of a possible four stars. That's simply unacceptable in 2025. Furthermore, the table hadn't been wiped clean, and the restrooms are in dire need of a deep clean. It used to be much better. At this price point, that should be standard practice.

The food was great, and I'd be happy to come back. However, we were seated very close to the entrance door, and every time the door opened, we could feel the cold air. Perhaps it would be possible to install a windbreak or something similar behind the door. The food and service were excellent, though!

The food (Mi Ramen) was amazing, very well-seasoned, and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. The service was very friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is very nice, incredibly cozy, and inviting. You can tell someone put a lot of love into it. 👍😁 But a notice that you can only pay by cash would have been nice, so you'll find it on the restaurant's website.

The dishes look very nice but taste quite similar, it’s hard to tell what’s in them from the ingredients. On the bright side, you can’t get overdone with them!

Very tasty food, the fried food was fantastic. We'd love to go back. We've been to LOC for dinner again with a small group of our "Rhoihesse vegan" regulars. Everyone was impressed by the variety, the delicious taste, and the friendly service. We'll have to come back several more times before we've tried everything. But we're happy to do so, even if it's always a long drive to Mainz for us country folk.

The food was truly delicious. The service was also good. Only the benches, unfortunately all without backrests or cushions, were a bit uncomfortable, and the restrooms could use some renovation.

I went to Lôc Vegan Kitchen for dinner and had the pho with coconut milk. It was very aromatic, pleasantly creamy, and well-rounded in flavor—a truly excellent dish. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, and the service was attentive. The only criticism I could make is the lack of a card payment option. If vegan food always tastes this good, I'd be happy 😀

Delicious vegan food. We had soup, deep-fried duck, and the sushi plate for two. The soup, in particular, was very flavorful, definitely a hit. The deep-fried duck wasn't anything special, and I wouldn't order it again. The sushi plate wasn't cheap, but it was quite filling. It was worth it. We would have preferred a few fewer deep-fried makis on the sushi plate, though. We had mint and ginger tea to drink. Both were okay, but not very flavorful.

M2, Business Card: Very tasty food, good spice, but very small portions for lunch! They add salad and herbs to make the plate look nice and full. €11 for that...unfortunately, it wasn't worth it to me. The place is also quite dark, with annoying piano music playing in the foreground while Vietnamese background music trills from the kitchen. I'd rather have Vietnamese music playing throughout the place. Card payments aren't accepted, of course *cough*, but I was able to pay with PayPal.

The sushi was extremely delicious, but actually everything here is delicious.

An awesome stop for those who want vegetarian options. Great flavor and choice. Southeast Asian food is sometimes heavy on meat with things like beef broth, so it was great to find a place that allowed me to try vegetarian substitutes of dishes I have wanted.

Cool vegan restaurant in the heart of Mainz with really good food. The staff is also quite friendly. What's unacceptable in 2025 is that they don't accept card payments. That's really not difficult these days, and you should expect it at this price level. The biggest letdown, unfortunately, is the location. The dining area is relatively small and cramped, with seating very close to other guests without any real privacy. Furthermore, the acoustics are quite poor inside. It's always very loud. Furthermore, which is especially noticeable in the cold season, it's very stuffy and poorly ventilated inside. Nevertheless, it's quite a highlight in the Mainz restaurant scene. I wish the Lôc team could find a location that truly does the restaurant justice.

I ate there for lunch for the second time today and was completely satisfied. The food was delicious, and the service was very friendly and helpful with any food intolerances. I was more than thrilled with the Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. For me, it was better than dessert. It certainly won't be my last visit.

Very tasty, fresh, and visually appealing food. I'm neither vegan nor vegetarian, but I won't be stopping there just for this one visit! I think the requirement to pay in cash is a bit outdated, and the lack of backrests automatically shortens the time you spend there. However, these issues are negligible, as the food is truly delicious!

Very nice atmosphere, fresh food, and delicious drinks. 🫛🍛🍹 What was a bit disappointing for us personally was the sushi for two and the raspberry water. Since the restaurant isn't that big, I would always recommend making a reservation.

What happened to me here is absolutely outrageous! I ordered a portion of pho and a portion of edamame via Lieferando at 8:30 p.m. (order number GY7QCK, amount: €23.28). Everything was paid for immediately, and the delivery confirmation was supposed to arrive in 45 minutes. At 9:30 p.m., there was still nothing. I tried calling the restaurant countless times – NO response, no one answered the phone. Then suddenly I got a message saying it would take another 15 minutes. So I thought, maybe there was traffic or something. But NO – even after another 30 minutes, no food, no driver, no information. Instead, the owner called me at 10:10 p.m., apologized, and told me the order had to be canceled. This is really the last straw! Making people wait for almost TWO HOURS and then just canceling is simply disrespectful and a huge waste of time. If they don't have capacity or something is sold out, cancel IMMEDIATELY and don't leave them hanging forever. I've never eaten here before—and there will certainly NEVER be a second chance. Such unprofessional, chaotic behavior is simply UNACCEPTABLE. A complete disappointment!

I'll be coming more often now! Super delicious and creative! I had the Bao Burger and my friend had vegan shrimp with fragrant rice—perfect! The shrimp had a shrimp-like texture, and the vegan duck on the burger was very crispy. Before that, we had the No. 11 deep-fried dumplings—mm, yum, yum.

Service was okay, but they didn't even ask if everything was okay. We had to go inside to pay because no one else was coming. My partner's meal was a 0/5, really! The bun on the Bao Bun Burger was deep-fried; it looked and tasted like it had been thrown back in the fryer the day before. It was really hard to bite into. My meal (shrimp with vegetables and rice in orange sauce) was okay, but the shrimp weren't tasty at all and had nothing to do with animal shrimp. I couldn't even eat them because they didn't taste good. The rest was okay. Unfortunately, nothing I would recommend. It's a shame; we were really looking forward to it.

This was actually the first vegan restaurant I've been to where the food wasn't good. The starter was solid, nothing special, but edible. For my main course, I ordered the Bao Burger. The "bun" was deep-fried, which was new to me. But I would have happily indulged in that. Unfortunately, it was so hard that you couldn't even cut it. I could only eat the top half, otherwise I would have probably broken my teeth (no joke). The burger was also very poorly prepared, consisting only of the hard bun, vegan duck, four small tomatoes, and a halved gherkin. No sauce. No salad. Simply a disappointment.

The interior is a bit too dark for me, but the food was excellent and the service was friendly and prompt. I'd go back anytime. 💚😋

The restaurant is tastefully decorated and offers cozy places with wooden furniture. We were greeted politely and given a table of our choice - the entire service team was quite friendly and accommodating throughout the evening. The menu offers a great selection of vegan dishes, in combination with vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, seitan, etc. We were really spoiled for choice. The food came without a long wait. With the fried udon and the ramen soup, the taste was ok, but a little too salty - please improve that and refine the taste! The restaurant offers a harmonious concept. Just the music shouldn't be so loud. The price-performance ratio is right. Pure cash payment. We liked it.

My food was probably bad and I had an upset stomach the rest of the evening and the following morning. I had bad luck with the service. The waiter swapped the soups at our table and only noticed after we had eaten. Ambiance is very nice. :)

Unfortunately the staff wasn't very friendly and ignored us several times, saying they would come back straight away and never came. And then the food came before the drinks. We felt very unwelcome here. It was also super loud in the restaurant and the food was ok, but not anymore because my fried sushi was ice cold. Great Asian vegan food! Too bad we couldn't dine in because we arrived too late. So we took away and it was delicious. I recommend the tofu curry with peanut butter sauce, it had really good stuff inside and great flavors.

Food: super delicious!!! Service: bad. We waited a very long time until we could order. In between, no one came to ask if everything was OK or if we wanted to order anything else. We sat in front of our empty appetizer plates for ages. We also sat in front of empty glasses, which unfortunately no one cared about. Guests who arrived long after us received food far before us. It's also a shame that you can only pay in cash and not by card.

Absolute favorite restaurant. I still find it almost too good to be true - all vegan 😍 We have been here many times and have eaten many different dishes here. And so far we haven't been disappointed once. Every dish and especially the vegan duck here is really something! 😊

Really excellent food at reasonable prices. The sushi is an absolute hit and always worth ordering. But other dishes are also very tasty. You have to like the relative darkness in the restaurant (absolutely okay for me). What's not so okay is the lack of backrests on the benches and, above all, the noise when it's busy. It's very, very loud in the store.

You should definitely make a reservation, otherwise it can be really difficult to get a table. Really good price/performance ratio. I would only like purely vegetable dishes without tofu, “chicken”, “duck” or “shrimp”.

I was here with some friends. The service is very good and we also really like the location. We all had the vegan sushi, although that's not quite my world. Most of my companions were vegans who really appreciate the food there and eat here regularly. But I prefer to stick with fish and meat on the sushi.

Unfortunately, I have to say that I used to find the menu/selection of dishes better. Nevertheless, it tasted very good and the staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, the wrong food arrived, even though there were only two other people there besides us, so it couldn't have been due to stress. I think this is a great restaurant, especially for vegans, and I've also heard good things about the sushi. However, I wouldn't come back for other dishes as they were rather disappointing

Very tasty food, everything completely vegan. Great price/performance ratio. Food was on the table very quickly, even though the restaurant was full. I would like to see the possibility of card payment in the future; that should simply be standard in 2025. You also sit on fairly simple, hard wooden stools without backrests. That doesn't necessarily invite you to linger for a long time.

Anyone who suffers from celiac disease has a difficult time here. After much demand, only a small selection of sushi was available. This one came with the wrong sauce, which I luckily noticed. We also pointed out to the owners that the bottle of wine is more expensive than individual glasses and should be opened properly beforehand. The service was nice, but overall didn't have enough knowledge.

It has now become our favorite restaurant in Mainz. Friendly staff and super delicious healthy food. We ordered something and ate it there. The chairs there could still use cushions, but otherwise you feel very comfortable and the restaurant is also very well located and easily accessible by public transport😅

Didn't expect much to be honest considering i havent had super delicious vegan food yet. This place was great actually, the food was genuinely delicious, i wouldnt even have guessed it was vegan if i didnt know. The drink was also really really nice and the staff was very friendly and kind too. The toilets were clean and overall the whole restaurant had a nice feeling to it. Will definitely come here again.

Culinary impeccable vegan cuisine. Anyone who doesn't follow the vegan trend will get a taste here, as the dishes are really an adequate alternative to the "classic meat dishes". The food was great. The vegan duck in particular tasted very good. The vegan shrimps also impressed with a very similar taste to their non-vegan counterpart. The waiter was very friendly. Unfortunately, piano covers of pop songs were playing the whole time, which was a bit confusing.

The Lôc makes the best sushi in Mainz and also has great warm dishes. The restaurant is purely vegan. The walls inside are beautifully painted and the many lamps create a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately there are only benches without backrests, which can become a bit uncomfortable after a few hours. The service staff are nice and accommodating. Unfortunately, the toilet in the basement is not barrier-free. You can only pay in cash.

Unobtrusive furnishings. Unfortunately, the service was relatively disinterested. The "ginger water" consisted of a few strips of ginger and tap water. The summer rolls initially made a good impression. You can get kimchi better in any Asian supermarket (more sweet than sour with lots of iceberg lettuce as a disguise) and the main courses (sushi and udon) were relatively tasteless or tasted more like ready-made sauce (I'm just saying carrots from a jar). The vegan duck was crispy on the outside and duck-friendly (because without duck). The food came really quickly, is that a good sign?!

The food was delicious. Today we were there for the first time with several people (we actually drove an hour to get there) we ordered a lot of different dishes and overall it was really, really tasty. A few small notes. There is always paprika in the vegetables, even if it is not on the menu. It's difficult with my intolerance. The edamame were only salted on top, so the bottom ones hardly had any salt. Otherwise the food was tip top. The vegan dishes are good and freshly processed, varied and there is something for everyone. We were particularly surprised by the vegan shrimp. The price was absolutely right for this location and quality. Overall, I found the ambience to be a bit too dark. The staff was slightly overwhelmed. We got there relatively early and got drinks quickly. After that, all the other tables were accepted before us, which meant we had to wait a relatively long time. The starters weren't all there at the same time so some had to wait longer. That was a bit of a shame.

So pleasantly surprised by everything and the food was really great! Will definitely go again 😊

The food is top notch, the staff are super friendly and accommodating. I had a good time. I think the portion size is totally reasonable for the prices. I have rarely experienced such warm service and will definitely come back more often. Absolute vegan insider tip.

Nice atmosphere, but a lot of hype about nothing

When I entered this restaurant I was immersed in another world. Step in, world out. I was incredibly fascinated. The decoration, the wall painting, the super friendly staff. It was my first time in Mainz, I stayed for 4 days and had dinner here on three afternoons. The food is wholesome and tastes fantastic! I can recommend everyone to “dive in” here and dream about the beautiful wall art while you eat! Thank you for your hospitality! If I come to Mainz again, I will visit you again!
