l'Incontro in Karlsruhe

There were 21 of us, so we ordered 21 pizzas. We only received 20, and they looked like they'd just come out of Stranger Things. Some pizzas were black. Others were so salty, it felt like drinking a mouthful of the Atlantic Ocean. The cheese on the pizzas was so creamy, it felt like something completely different. The slices were also cut in the style of a five-year-old. Don't go there.

The best restaurant in Karlsruhe! I always enjoy stopping by for a meal and seeing the hospitable and kind hosts. It has a homey atmosphere where you're always welcome. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The food is amazing, a little Italy in Germany ;)) because everything is prepared with love! I definitely recommend visiting.

L'Incontro serves delicious pasta and pizza dishes. There's a vegan menu and also a gluten-free option. Special care is taken to minimize contamination with the gluten-free pasta (€2 surcharge) and gluten-free pizza (€4 surcharge). Celiac disease is a common problem here, and I haven't had any problems so far. The lunch menu offers affordable meals. Everything is delicious, though the pasta portions could be a bit larger. While looking for a nice restaurant in Karlsruhe, I was recommended I'Incontro. And I can say it was worth it! I dined here two evenings in a row. My expectations regarding the service and the food were more than exceeded. The ambiance also really appealed to me. Simply unwind and enjoy yourself in a beautiful, small, sophisticated restaurant. The chef is involved, and it really pays off! Italian with a twist is the order of the day here. They not only serve the usual Italian dishes, but also offer variations of Italian cuisine that are a feast for the palate and the eyes. I would especially recommend the Nutcracker Salad and the Crostini con Taleggio e Miele as starters, as well as the Orecchiette Arugula e Potato as a main course, and the Affogato al Caffé for dessert. A dream and sooo delicious! 5 stars! I'd love to come back!

A real insider tip for anyone who loves good Italian food! 🇮🇹 We had an all-around wonderful evening – and that was not only due to the delicious food, but also to the exceptionally friendly service. I would particularly like to highlight the separate vegan menu and the many vegetarian and gluten-free options – you rarely find something of this quality! Everything was freshly prepared, and you immediately taste that someone really puts love and skill into the kitchen. Absolutely fair prices, great portion sizes, and convenient card payments. A place to feel good, enjoy, and come back. Highly recommended – for dates, family dinners, or simply a really nice evening!

5 stars for the truly unusual Italian food selection...absolutely your "untypical run-of-the-mill Italian"...dishes you won't find anywhere else on the menu. Delicious...could be a bit more, but sufficient. Prices are OK. There's also a vegetarian menu and gluten-free pizzas. Friendly service...sit outside in the summer.

A fantastic restaurant serving Italian cuisine in the heart of Karlsruhe. What's remarkable is not only the incredible quality of the food, but above all the incredibly friendly, helpful, and courteous service. As someone with celiac disease, this is the best gluten-free pizza and bruschetta I've ever had the pleasure of eating. But the regular dishes are also absolutely outstanding. We were extremely satisfied! Highly recommended! 👌👌

We've eaten here a few times over the past few years. Since we had a birthday party coming up, we decided to eat here again because of the large selection of vegan and gluten-free dishes. Even though we were a large group, everything went smoothly for the most part. The food was, as always, delicious :)

The pizzas are really good, if you get what you order. If you have food allergies, you have to be extremely careful and double-check everything. The staff is sometimes incredibly distracted and even unfriendly when they make a mistake. The rest of the staff is very friendly, helpful, and tries to compensate for others' mistakes. Especially the young blond gentleman. However, I have to consider every time whether my desire for pizza is strong enough to put up with these unpleasant situations. It's a real shame, since it's really just an organizational issue.

We chose this restaurant for our birthday party because there's something for everyone. Vegan, vegetarian, omnivores, and gluten-free, everyone will find something delicious. As a vegan, I highly recommend it; this time I had the truffle pasta. A small menu was specially put together for our celebration.

L'incontro was my first choice for a restaurant, after many many months of Covid Food and service were great as always. I can highly recommend a new item on the menu. The italian-indian crossover dish, a curry risotto.

I ordered a small apple spritzer, but they came with a large one, and it definitely wasn't a "spritzer." The bruschetta appetizer was half burnt. The pizza arrived way too late, even though the place was almost empty. It was completely tasteless. Disappointing.

A very friendly welcome from very pleasant staff. We had starters and main courses. Everything was perfectly paired and delicious. You can tell that great care has been taken with the preparation and ingredients. Unfortunately, two stars are deducted for the ambiance. There is dust and cobwebs in almost every niche and on the ceiling, even in the restrooms.

The small, cute restaurant is a lot bigger inside and has a great ambience. The fact that there was a whole special vegan seasonal menu was the decisive reason why we went to eat there and all of our expectations were far exceeded. The food, whether vegan or not, was incredibly good. A must visit for vegans. Keep coming back.

I think it's very nice that there is an extra VEGAN menu. The pizzas are delicious, but the seating we had was already torn.

Best 0 stars. The only good thing was that the food arrived quickly and the staff were friendly. Otherwise the pizza was miserable, way too salty, oily, limp, half warm and uncut. The antipasti was also completely dipped in oil and wasn't a real antipasti either. Unfortunately we were very disappointed as a tourist.

A nice place to relax and have a great meal in peace with friends. Very extensive menu with many regional products. Only friendly employees and the boss takes the time to come to the table and take good care of his guests. There are various delicious wines at fair prices.

The best Italian restaurant I've ever been to. No Germanized food, but real Italian food!

- The food was great, the noodles seemed homemade. - There is a separate vegan menu and therefore a lot of choice, many dishes are also available gluten-free (for a small surcharge). - There was also a dog in the restaurant (I think from the landlord), so I think dogs are welcome. - You should budget around 20 euros per person for the main course and drink. - The staff was very friendly to us. Everything was wonderful for us, so we would like to come back :)

Yesterday we had dinner there with relatives, as we have often done before. Vegan food was good as always. However, there is always something wrong with the service in this restaurant. This time we were simply left to sit after the main course. No service was available. We would have liked to eat the vegan tiramisu that was offered to us when we cleared our plates. However, after being completely ignored for 45 minutes, we got tired of it and went home. Unfortunately, this really affected the experience. We had to actively go to the counter and ask to finally pay. Why do you let guests sit unnoticed for so long without even asking if they would like something else? I just don't understand it.

So cozy a special Italian and the staff so attentive and friendly the truffle pasta and the vermouth sauce were just as delicious as the gnocchi variations

Hello, the food is terrible, tasteless and very oily, and it is not from Italian brands👎👎👎👎👎The portion we refused we had to pay. The lady in the room with the red hair, I think she was the manager, was very arrogant. All she cared about was that we paid for the food even though the food was terrible

We regularly ordered and ate on site. The stressed and often unfriendly service has been bothering us for a long time. The food was mostly okay, but often bland. The last incident was too much: Instead of our order, we received another dish - without any prior information. When I asked, they said in a cheeky tone: 'We don't have that anymore.' My order was confirmed twice and the dish is still on the menu online. That's not how I want to be treated as a guest - there are so many restaurants that treat their guests with respect and offer much better food. L’incontro is definitely out for me.

Ate there for the 2nd time in my life; same quality within a month. 3 different friendships included- Table for 2 and once for four. All food without pizzas, i.e. bread starters, fish, pasta truffles, pasta shrimp, salads, lamb shank. Definitely worth the price. Impeccable service as well. Reservation works. If a guest comes to around €30 with a drink, starter and main course, that's great. I'm just imagining the restos of the Americans in KA, what I would spend there...

Dirty and full of mice where there is a fridge and food etc etc I'm not saying the owner's wife dirty and filthy I won't even mention the owner, don't go I recommend it, the guys who work there don't and we really talk, I stayed really disappointed

An absolute disaster! My wife ordered orecchiette with turnip stalk, but what was served was a disgrace: broken, pre-cooked and overcooked spaghetti - tasteless, without salt and obviously not fresh, despite the menu claiming otherwise. Simply disgusting! When I asked about the grape variety of the white wine, the waiter claimed it was Montepulciano - a completely absurd answer since it is a red wine. It shows how little knowledge the staff has. I personally ordered mussels that were served drowned in oil with the “beards” still on – disgusting and inedible. I didn't touch her. The three waiters in service were completely overwhelmed, unprofessional and completely inexperienced. How this restaurant can even exist is a mystery to me. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go anywhere near this place!

We were at I'Incontro for the first time today and will definitely come back. Since I suffer from celiac disease and rely on gluten-free food, I am happy to have found a pizzeria in Karlsruhe where I can eat a good gluten-free pizza (gluten-free pasta is also available). We received a warm welcome and there was nothing wrong with the service and the cozy atmosphere. That's why I absolutely recommend it. 👍

I ordered food to pick up for a celebration. The process was uncomplicated, the advice was helpful and friendly and the food was sensational!

The dishes taste fantastic, and the ambiance and service are impeccable. The portion sizes of the pasta dishes could be a bit larger, though.

Top service and a great manager. We always enjoy coming back with our two four-legged friends, who are always welcome, and treats are always ready. They simply can't pass this great location; they just stop by the door. The four of us love it here. The good food and excellent beer also deserve a special mention. Highly recommended. We often meet other regulars for a chat. It almost feels like family.

Big disappointment I don't even know where to start. We really wanted mussels and looked for a restaurant with good reviews beforehand. The restaurant initially seemed clean and inviting, and the service was also friendly. After we were seated, we looked at the menu - it had many dishes to choose from, including different versions of mussels. We ordered drinks, an appetizer and the mussels. The starter tasted really good. But then the mussels came, and the disappointment was great: in the discount store you can sometimes find larger specimens (see picture), and the restaurant even advertises “special” mussels. Unfortunately, the taste didn't convince us either. But the crowning glory came at the end: pizza bread was served with my mussels. When the bread was almost finished, my wife asked me if I had had olives. Puzzled, I said no - and then we discovered olive pits on the plate (see picture). We called the waiter and asked. He was visibly embarrassed and promised to look into the matter. About ten minutes later he explained to us that the seeds were accidentally left over from the appetizer decoration. This is incomprehensible to us. The incident seemed as if the board had not been cleaned at all and the bread had simply been placed on it without checking whether it was clean. We were offered dessert as an apology, but after that experience we didn't feel like it anymore and just wanted to leave. At least we weren't charged for the bread. But we had to pay in full for the meal - which we found really outrageous after this experience. This was definitely our first and last visit here. Addendum to the answer from I'Incontro Then please show me what the chef used to gut it so cleanly. With your mouth and teeth? If you as a restaurateur buy olives that have not been pitted, which restaurateur does the work to pit them so cleanly. Wasn't a good excuse.

The dishes differ enormously from the pictures. Of course everyone has their preferences but when I see pictures of a pizza with a loose dough and airy edge and a tarte flambée base. If you get one with a hard edge, the difference is huge. Or mussels in white wine sauce without wine flavor. If you like it well, we don't. Otherwise very nice ambience, service super nice and always there if something is missing. The place is full so you should make a reservation. Conclusion not our taste but definitely recommended for others.

Nice restaurant and café with very friendly service. They offer delicious Italian food and wine. Pleasant prices and everything very tasty. Great atmosphere in summer, you can sit under the trees. I'd love to come back. For example at lunchtime, as there is a cheap and varied lunch menu.

Obwohl wir schon länger im Voraus reserviert hatten, bekamen wir einen Platz direkt neben der Tür zur Küche. Dieser war ungemütlich und es ging sehr hektisch zu. Wir mussten sehr lange auf unsere Pizza warten. Leider muss ich sagen, dass das mit Abstand die schlechteste Pizza war, die ich je gegessen habe. Diese war spärlich belegt auf einem sehr trockenen Teig, der vom Geschmack her eher an TK-Blätterteig erinnerte. War leider kein Genuss. Das Gesamtkonzept des Restaurants lässt für einen gemütlichen Abend zu wünschen übrig: die Einrichtung empfand ich als ziemlich kühl und ungemütlich, die Speisekarte ist recht lieblos gestaltet und der Service... Naja. Für mich war es der letzte Besuch dort.

I was there for the first time in the summer and it was great, it was well staffed outside and the young gentleman who served us made a lot of effort to serve everyone. He handled it brilliantly. The food was super delicious! Which is why I was there again a few days ago. There was nothing going on, only three tables were occupied. There were two of us and we ordered three main courses, but only two of them arrived. When we were finished, the three main courses were still not there even though we wanted to eat them with the other one. Unfortunately, when we asked, the lady was very unfriendly and answered bluntly that her colleague was alone in the kitchen. When we wanted to pay by card towards the end, she said she would come straight away. After waiting for 10 minutes, the lady sat at the table with her colleague and they talked to each other. We then used a show of hands to make her aware that we would be happy to pay and she didn't come to us straight away either. Unfortunately she was very unfriendly. The low staffing and the problems with orders and billing clearly show that the service did not meet expectations. The unfriendly reaction of the waitress and the long waiting time for the order are unfortunate. The staff's lack of attention and time management obviously resulted in a frustrating experience. It is important that management takes such issues seriously to improve the quality of service.

If you want to eat something exceptionally delicious... Dishes beyond what you get at a standard Italian restaurant, Apulian dishes are in the foreground. Some of the food is imported directly from Italy. It was a great evening with great service

I love this restaurant! An exceptionally diverse menu, a wide range of gluten-free dishes and delicious gluten-free beer. The gluten free pizza was very good. It's a shame that I 'Incontro is so far away from my home, but I'll be happy to come back when I get the chance!

Unfortunately the pizza dough was pretty dry that day. The atmosphere is very nice and you can sit comfortably outside.

Food was okay. We expected more as the pasta in particular was highly praised online. No big portions, long waiting times. But the staff was nice and the starters were very good!

We always enjoy coming to Incontro: the dishes are perfectly prepared, with great variety and love for special ingredients, there is always something new for even the most spoiled palate. The service is very personal, like family! Even when it's pouring rain, it's a matter of course that we serve "across the street" under the parasols. Cheers! Leaf salads with fried mushrooms, sheep's cheese, olives and a sensational sauce 👌🏻 Gnocchi on (a mountain of) ricotta - wonderfully seasoned. 😋 We were thrilled and will definitely come again. As a vegetarian you are definitely not left out 😁

As a Karlsruher and Italian, I actually ate at L'Incontro for the first time yesterday. Absolute recommendation! Everything was great, food, service, ambience!

Unfortunately, there aren't many good Italians left, but Italian food is healthy and varied. And that is particularly what l'incontro has to offer. The cuisine is imaginative and very tasty. There is also pizza, but I would recommend the starters, vegetables, pasta and risotto because they are prepared with a lot of imagination. The service is very good and the ambience under the large trees and the generously arranged tables is very pleasant. Personally, I find it a bit narrow inside and not a bit challenging for wheelchair users because of several steps.

For me it remains my favorite Italian ❤️ Nice ambience (great to try out by candlelight! Usually on Valentine's Day) Super good food (also with a lavish vegan menu if requested) everyone will find what they are looking for here and can discover great new things! Very tasty and fresh food (I especially want to highlight the pizza and Tiramisu dessert!), delicious drinks (hot and cold, alcoholic and non-alcoholic), excellent service (fast and high quality) and a wonderful atmosphere (cozy and pleasant - there are vases with fresh flowers on the tables, There are interesting paintings on the walls, proper lighting). And inexpensive!

Pizza was very good because it was gluten-free, a big compliment, something like that is not a given 👍
