Great food at reasonable prices and friendly staff. One star deducted for the change fee. Charging a change fee if I want something different in my dish, which wouldn't have involved any effort or additional costs, has nothing to do with being customer-oriented, in my opinion.

A small, quiet bar-restaurant conveniently located behind the cathedral, it features a menu featuring regional specialties and a friendly atmosphere. Generous portions with quality ingredients, 10/10 service, and reasonable prices. A place to keep in mind given the numerous offerings in the surrounding area.

Table in the middle of the aisle—almost with my back to the next table. Almost an hour of waiting for a mediocre chip shop meal. Deep-fried schnitzel with the taste of who knows what... Asparagus still half-raw.

Five of us had dinner there yesterday. The service was unprofessional and poor, as was the food. I had a schnitzel, I guess frozen schnitzel with a terrible bit of mush This is considerably better. All 5 of us are from Cologne and have actually visited quite a few breweries. But for me yesterday was a real disillusionment. Dear tourists, go to the Früh Brauhaus, 200 meters away. This is authentic and much better. Bon appetit. 🍻

I've been to Lederer several times because the restaurant is very centrally located. Food is very tasty and plentiful. Service very attentive and tried hard. I would love to come here again and again.

Very good and plentiful, unfortunately the person who served us was unfriendly. Barely settled in, she tells us that we have to hurry up and choose because the kitchen closes (9 p.m.). No worries, we understand, even if it's never pleasant to be in a hurry. We do what we can to translate the map because we don't speak German. You can tell she's getting impatient while taking the order. When the meal is finished, she tells us while cleaning up that she can't wait to go home, implying that we have to leave. Then when it's time to pay, she asks without really giving us a choice how much we want to tip. Well sorry but nothing. Annoyed, she accepts us with abrupt gestures without saying goodbye. Fortunately we ate well.

Four of us spontaneously went to eat here at peak time on a Saturday and it was excellent!!! Food was super tasty, delicious beer, great atmosphere and great service! We are totally satisfied and would come back at any time 😋😍

We had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The pork knuckle we ordered was decent, and one of the male waiters was especially kind and attentive — his friendly attitude made a positive impression on us and added a nice touch to the meal. However, we did feel a bit uncomfortable with the attitude of another staff member, an older woman with curly hair. She seemed quite distant and unresponsive when we tried to speak with her, even from the moment we entered the restaurant. It gave us the impression that guests weren’t particularly welcomed, which was unfortunate. With a bit more consistency in service, this restaurant could offer a much better overall experience.

Great restaurant in Cologne – highly recommended! Our visit to the Lederer restaurant was a complete success! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we entered. The waitress - a very friendly and attentive lady - looked after us excellently and also informed us about current and seasonal dishes. She speaks excellent English which makes it more comfortable for tourists. I had a Wiener Schnitzel with asparagus and boiled potatoes – very tasty and absolutely freshly prepared. The portions were rather too big, but of course that's a matter of taste - no one goes home hungry here. Of course there was a Kölsch 🍻 The gentleman at the bar rounded off the positive impression - overall a small but very well-coordinated cast. The restaurant itself is cozy and you immediately feel at home. I would definitely come back as soon as I'm back in Cologne! Insider tip, use the asparagus if you have it 👍👍

Unfriendly staff. I speak German fluently, and I know the culture here. I wasn’t being rude, but still got treated badly. It used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but not anymore. I don’t know if the owner changed, or the person who was serving was just unfriendly. Throwing the utensil basket, just very unfriendly overall.

The Lederer restaurant is centrally located in Cologne, right next to the cathedral – a fantastic location. The service was very friendly, prompt, and attentive, thank you very much! Unfortunately, the food wasn't quite up to expectations. The quality of the food didn't live up to expectations; the €29 Cordon Bleu in particular was not up to par. Furthermore, the overall cleanliness could be a bit better, both in the dining room and in the restrooms. There's definitely room for improvement there.

I don't mind that the service is not friendly. But it is annoying if you order 3 beers and only receive 2 and then have to ask and whine a few times and wait a long time.

We wanted to try authentic German food so we came here as they had quite good ratings. We ordered the Pork Trotter and sausage platter and Veal schnitzel. We were disappointed with the Pork Trotter, the crispy skin was good but the meat has no taste, not well-seasoned at all. The veal schnitzel tasted passable, not enough seasoning as well! As a whole, we were disappointed with the experience of dining here.

I’ve been served with something I didn’t order and they still insist to charge me for the wrong order! Not very customer friendly.

Although we have known the restaurant for years, we went to eat there for the first time yesterday. The service staff is friendly but unfortunately not that well organized. However, the food is more than just very good. We have never eaten homemade dumplings in any brewery in Cologne. Compliment!!! We were not only very surprised but very satisfied. We'd love to come back.

Had a nice lunch, I think you'll quickly pass by this restaurant. Cozy atmosphere inside, authentic German. I was the only guest at the time so the food came quickly. Shortly after I ordered a large group came in and some other guests. Despite the hustle and bustle that followed, I was helped with everything. My German is reasonable so we could understand each other.

Disaster! Never again! I have rarely experienced such a bad restaurant visit. The food was ice cold, like it came straight from the fridge. Absolutely inedible! The drinks only came after an eternity, when the food had already been on the table, ice cold of course. The service was slow, completely overwhelmed and more than disappointed

Unfortunately, we cannot confirm that the food was delicious, even for the price. The sauerbraten was almost tasteless and dry, but at least not tough, and the sauce was average. The red cabbage was also average. The schnitzels are somewhat okay, but The side sauces are far too sour and also taste like ready-made sauce. If the sauces are homemade, the result is sad. The best ones here were the 🍟 ones.

I went there to have lunch today Monday and they say was close when the door was open. It seems now they work with big groups of tourism. Anyways if you walk a bit more inside the Main town close by, is another restaurant called OMA’S that is open, kind of hiden and very well attended. And even Cheaper for the same dish ! Fantastic 🤗🤩👌🏼

I wanted an experience of good German cuisine, I was amply served. The dish was perfect. 2 small downside, gigantic quantities, frankly complicated to finish (especially without it getting cold) and the team who were on the verge of throwing us out at 9:20 p.m. because we were the last customers.

Dusty - rustic with quibbles in the service in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral. You can choose from turkey, veal or pork schnitzel with really great prices! !Landed there by chance on New Year's Eve before the musical. Ordered veal schnitzel and clearly received pork schnitzel (Viennese style). Thick, firm breading and partly stringy. According to the motto, you might not notice...the complaint was massively rejected and of course both dishes were charged for a total of €70. It's all a bit touristy - a rip-off if at these prices they also charge extra for bagged mayonnaise. That's also a difference between Cologne and Düsseldorf 😉. Conclusion: Not again

Cologne cosiness in crowded confines, what more could you want!!!

I passed by without any intention of going (since it was Christmas Eve, not many doors were open), I looked it up and saw that the ratings were good, so I quickly went in… . Even though it was almost full, they warmly welcomed me as a single customer. hmm… . If the food is not good, there is no discussion of kindness. I ate the wurst and haha, I was surprised. It was just my taste, so I ate too much. The beer was also refreshing, perhaps because of the high turnover rate. I was supposed to go again the next day, but my schedule got messed up so I couldn't. Whether you are a single guest or a group, give it a try. (This is my first time writing a Google review… I’m a bitch… But this is one of two places I discovered during this trip!)

We just had dinner there with typical German food with nothing special but the service is terrible, they charged us for a sparkling water when they were the ones who made a mistake in bringing it and the worst thing is that they force you to tip once They give you the shameful bill.

I had read a review in which the waiter cheated some tourists on the bill, but I didn't think anything of it. Today they just did the same thing to me. Snitzel simply battered, salad dipped in mustard sauce and very good roasted potato. I ordered Still Water which is still water and they served me sparkling water, I didn't drink it and they brought me tap water... obviously they charged me for the sparkling water... tourist trap friends, DON'T go. Oh, on top of that he asks us to tip him before he shows us the bill, you piece of shit...! He shakes your hand to distract you while asking you to swipe the card. It's the youngest waiter, and the older ladies say things in German pointing at you and laughing... we should have suspected something was going on. It seems good and noble to me... now how do I claim it? 😤

Took the soup from Christmas menu for 4.90 euro. At the end we paid for each soup 7.90. When tried to clarify with the waiter — got no help from his side. As a result this restaurant just cheated on us.

Cheated by waiter during billing us: 3 soups by 7.9 instead of 4.9 and beer 3.6 instead of 2.9. At the same time he insisted on tips. Detailed check was provided only after we paid. We heard just “I can do nothing now” after asking for resolving issues above …

Typical German cuisine, meat drowned in sweet sauce with potato balls like foufou, very strange, fortunately the Corsican wine made it all go away... the owner is austere but the waitress is friendly. The bad thing is that they leave the door open even though it's December... mixed experience.

What a terrible tent, when you enter no one says hello, if you then walk on because there is enough free space, an old woman shouts after you. That you can only sit inside if you want to eat. You can only have a cup of coffee outside on the terrace. After we had taken a seat, they told us that not everything on the menu was for outside and that the milk had run out, no cappuccino or hot chocolate, only black coffee, soft drinks or beer. My advice continues until the next opportunity

Was very busy (which is always a good sign) but where able to squeeze me in without a reservation. Service was excellent and they were able to put up with my basically non existent German. Food was traditional German which on a cold day was just what I wanted good well seasoned sausages nice potato’s and excellent beer. Price seemed comparable to other places in the area so not cheap but not overpriced.

Excellent service, delicious food, great beer. I recomend all kinds of wurst ( sousage) and schnitzel. You should definitly ask for kölnch, the traditional local beer. The atmosphare seems to be locals who came with their close circles for food beer and chat. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. The prices are ok.

Estaba en este restaurante la Navidad pasada y la comida era preciosa y el hombre que era propietario nos estaba sirviendo y tuvimos grandes bromas con él cuando se enteró de que éramos de Irlanda. así que estábamos de vuelta en Colonia este año y fuimos a cenar la comida era encantadora y la camarera joven era amable, pero la anciana que supongo que es la esposa del hombre era tan grosero e ignorante hacia nosotros fue increíble que inicialmente estábamos planeando volver de nuevo, pero ese episodio lo canceló. no había señales del hombre que conocimos el año pasado. es una lástima porque la comida era buena

After 15 minutes of waiting in the cold, you just leave when the waitress said she was coming soon.

This is my third time here and I have never received such rude and poor service. Made a reservation and were shown out the door after 45 minutes even though we had 2 hours. The lady who works there has no customer service at all, is actually worse than rude. Never again such a worthless event.

Went on a day trip to Cologne and found this little restaurant. The staff was super nice and sweet. The food was very tasty and definitely recommended. You didn't have to wait long for anything either. The atmosphere is very cute and traditional. Unfortunately the only negative point is the toilet. Unfortunately not entirely clean and not really hygienic. Otherwise, the restaurant is definitely recommended.

Yesterday we were there spontaneously with 4 people and luckily we got the last table. Despite the restaurant being full, they took the time to greet us in a friendly manner. The drinks and food came in a reasonable time. I had a knuckle with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut which I can recommend with a clear conscience. The side dishes were tasty and the knuckle was as it should be. The rind was exactly how I liked it, not too wobbly and not too hard. It was so perfect that it was nice and crispy and edible. We were all very happy with the food and service!

Were there yesterday for the first time but definitely not the last. We were kindly shown to our table and our drinks came quickly. The time between ordering food and being served was perfect. We enjoyed it very much and the portions were just right.
