Isolated very fast good service

There were two of us without a reservation. We were offered a seat, but were told that someone had reserved the table after two hours. That was fine with us. The food was delicious and the price-performance ratio was absolutely right. However, the service was somewhat lacking; the staff who was supposed to bring the food didn't know which table we were at and didn't ask if everything was okay. After about an hour, we were asked to leave because the other group was already arriving. When I asked to have the food wrapped, they gave me the wrapping and said, "Do it quickly, the others would have to wait." I find that very rude.

Great country inn! We were there for the first time last night. We had a reservation on Thursday evening, and three more people joined us at short notice on Saturday, which was absolutely no problem considering the reservation. The food was delicious, the service was very friendly, funny, and patient. As you can see from the pictures, the XXL portions are really large, and the prices are completely reasonable. We even got a shot of schnapps on the house :) We were very happy and had a wonderful evening with family and friends. If we could, we would give it 10 stars. We'll definitely be back :)

Great country inn! We visited for the first time. The food was delicious, and the service was very friendly. As you can see in the picture, the XXL portions are really large, and the prices are completely reasonable. Two large meals, two side salads, and two drinks brought us to €65. I'm also interested in future events like the barbecue evening or the meat platter buffet. I recommend stopping by sometime.

We had booked a room there. The hotel canceled it at short notice. The explanation: "The reason for this is the closure of the accommodation (temporarily or permanently)." The hotel, however, is still operating. I suspect they simply re-let it for a higher price. Very dubious. No booking security for guests. We were particularly looking forward to the guesthouse, but of course, we're not going there now either, as a matter of principle.

We had a truly wonderful evening at XXL Ritter with 11 people. The service was prompt and kept us entertained the entire time. The food was super delicious... and served quickly. Everyone got their food together and no one had to wait. It was very well coordinated. We were all very satisfied and will visit the restaurant again. Many thanks to the team for the great food and the lovely evening.

With the words "we're understaffed today, but we're going all out," we assumed we'd have to be patient, but no way. Drinks were served immediately and the food was served faster in many other restaurants that aren't understaffed. All the employees always have a smile on their faces and are truly courteous. The food was consistently delicious; you'd really have to fast all day for the XXL portions, otherwise you'd have to take the leftovers home. Completely satisfied, we'll be back because there are so many appealing dishes on the menu that we still want to try, and the value for money is absolutely world-class! There were three of us, two adults and a toddler, and we only paid €52 – including an XXL portion.

A pleasant restaurant in a very quiet area.

5 stars with extra potato salad! Sunday afternoon, slightly hungry, but in a hurry to make decisions – so off I went to the Landgasthof Ritter XXL! And what can I say? As soon as I entered, I was greeted so warmly that I briefly wondered if I'd been accidentally invited to a family celebration. Saki, the hotel's service wizard, was simply a dream. Friendly, attentive, and so service-oriented that you almost felt guilty not ordering something else – just so you could continue to experience him. The food? Fresh, delicious, and just the right portion that fills you up, but doesn't leave you rolling home like a stuffed pretzel. My steak? Perfect! The potato salad? All I can say is: If potato salad has dreams, then it dreams of tasting like this. We visited the restaurant spontaneously. Even without a reservation, we were able to get a table quickly. The children were looked after independently, and we were asked if the kids' food should be brought earlier... The food was delicious, and the service in the restaurant was excellent! We'd love to come back!

Nine of us came for dinner on June 7, 2025. We ordered a variety of dishes. Everything was excellent, with a selection ideal for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The portions were large enough for everyone to eat without having to send any food back. The quality was very good, and the wait time was absolutely moderate, despite the full house. The service was extremely friendly.

Hotel is simple, cleaned, comfortable. Staff is friendly. I had a great sleep. Breakfast was very fine. Restaurant is offering traditional food, with great taste. Parking area is small but big enough to host all the customers. Pretty close to the main road is a good choice even for one night only. Prices are in line with what you get and where it is located. I can just recommend this place

Had dinner there for the first time today. Spare ribs were totally dry, the meat on the burger looked like it had been put back on from another burger that had been returned. In my opinion, the taste is not good. I told the waitress. They were nice but still paid full price. Ps: They asked if they could do something good for us, but only after they had collected the money. Unfortunately not recommended.

Great food and service, again at any time

I can't say anything about the rooms because I was only in the restaurant. I think it tastes good when it comes to eating it. There are basically three portion sizes. If you are hungry but don't want to overeat, the medium portion is sufficient. There is even the possibility That you can have fries and spaetzle as a side dish. What I personally like, since it is often difficult to decide whether to eat fries or spaetzle with it, is of course also something else. I like to come there to eat on a regular basis. It's always a highlight when you see an XXL dish for the first time :D

Were there for dinner today! Service was friendly! Drinks came very quickly, but after the glass was empty I had to go to the counter to order something myself after 45 minutes, and I wasn't the only one! We had to wait almost 2 hours for the food! I'm actually used to better things here!

All in all, a very great restaurant with a cozy, warm atmosphere where, in my opinion, the price-performance ratio is right! Landgasthof Ritter XXL Restaurant has been very well known in the Villingen-Schwenningen area for its large portions for years. However, they have moved several times like Schwenningen>Dauchingen>Schwenningen again and now they have landed here. Well, I wonder how often? From the outside, the building makes an unspectacular impression, the interior is quite large with a lot of space, but the furnishings are old, especially the chairs and tables. At least it doesn't give the impression of a real restaurant like you're used to. I thought I was going to play 🎳 and not end up in a restaurant. The waiters come from good families and the guest is definitely welcome here, so I haven't experienced such a friendly, open, nice and fun welcome in a very long time, I was very positively surprised. When the food is brought you will be asked if you need anything else. People also ask when you see that you have finished eating whether everything was okay or good. I arrived there totally hungry because I had been looking forward to it all day, and left full and satisfied afterwards. If you want to spend a nice evening and, above all, eat well, this is the right place for you

I recently went to the restaurant for dinner with my work colleagues. The food is still great value for money. The catering also works smoothly at busy times. Only the location of Landgasthof is remote but can be found using Google Maps. If you want to eat well for good money, go there and see for yourself. I'll be back.

We had our end of the year there in a side room with blues music

I was only in business, so I can't give a rating for "Zimmer". Since the business is run neatly and cleanly, I suspect that the rooms are fine. About food: For (almost) every meal you have the choice of 3 sizes: small, medium and large. "Small" should represent the classic senior plate, "medium" are normal portions and "large" (XXL) requires a very large stomach. I was well fed with “medium”. Taste and quality were okay, no negative criticism of the price/performance ratio. It was a shame that there was a lack of staff and the restaurant (two side rooms with Christmas parties and the main hall with individual guests) was packed. The conditions and the chefs made them sweat and the waiting time was very long. All in all I would say: a well-run economy with simple but good food. The overworked staff remained polite and courteous at all times. Personally, I will definitely want to eat here again.

After a long tour in the motorhome, we were looking for a good dinner in a nice atmosphere. We found more than what we were looking for in the country inn. Two large and very tasty schnitzels landed on our plates, along with homemade (cheese) spaetzle. Absolutely great! And in combination with extremely friendly, courteous and cheerful service, there is only one thing left to say: Thank you for your hospitality! If we are in the area again, we will come to you again without hesitation!

Everything is just right here. Great portions, if that's what you want, absolutely great value for money. The staff is on the ball and super friendly. We have eaten there several times and have never been disappointed. We're happy to drive a bit for that.
