La Tarte in Weimar

The bistro (in my opinion it is not a restaurant) is located in the city center and is nicely decorated and has a nice ambience and a good atmosphere. The dishes are all very well prepared, tasty and value for money. But: unfortunately nothing was hot, some components were only lukewarm. And the service, as friendly as the employees are, is overwhelming. The tables are not assigned, so everyone serves each table. Some guests waited a long time for a menu, drinks or food. All of this has left the bistro incredibly uneasy. Some basic knowledge was not there, for example, food was passed over a guest's plate to his neighbor. And almost 3 hours for 4 courses, without asking for more drinks or even a coffee for dessert, was already a long time. But in any case, the bistro gets a second chance to completely convince me. Thank you for the work.

A magical French restaurant in Weimar. The owner goes out of his way for his guests, the food was delicious and prepared relatively quickly. The restaurant is very cozy and the tables are at a comfortable distance from each other. We would love to come back.

Food excellent: we had fish soup, then steak tartare, wine accompaniment was harmonious based on competent recommendations. Attractive atmosphere - we immediately felt at home. Service very friendly and attentive.

Das Restaurant bietet ein entspanntes Ambiente, das den ganzen Klassikerstress der Stadt vergessen lässt. Man sitzt entspannt im Restaurant oder im Hof und genießt qualitativ gute französische Küche.

Wir hatten im La Tarte eine kleine Familienfeier und waren am Ende des Abens rundum zufrieden....Essen sehr gut, Weine auch und der Service sehr bemüht. Wir kommen wieder!

Es ist ein herrlich authentisches Kleinod! Etwas eng bestuhlt, es dauert etwas lang - aber: wie eben so oft in Frankreich ;-) Das Essen ist große Klasse!

A bit disappointed, I came here for 6 years and somehow the experience slowly decreased in satisfaction mainly regarding the service: 1st of all the menu is full of french orthographic mistakes, which I think is REALLY sad for a french restaurant... Pretending that Chorizo is french is surprising. My last experience was definitely the worse: I ordered the "panier de poissons", which was extremely salty, Cutlery was broken and nobody seem to care. At the desert time I even experienced that some food was missing in my plate compared to what was announced in the menu, the waiter pretended I was wrong and that was not on the menu without either checking the menu. How come waiters cannot even know what is written of the 2 pages menu of the restaurant they work for? I am sad to write that is definitely not an experience you could have in any restaurant of this range in France

We visited Weimar last week, and had the bestdinner at La Tarte. The staff is very friendly, and most of all they give you time to enjoy the meal. A very good evening.

5/5 in all respects! I like to go out a lot and eat well, and I was completely impressed at La Tarte! Fast, attentive service, excellent wine recommendations and a wonderful 3-course menu for an unbeatable €39 (excluding wine). 100% again on my next visit to Weimar. Thank you for the nice evening! It's rare that I spend more than 2 hours alone in a restaurant EDIT: Unfortunately, after my 4th or 5th visit, I have to deduct at least one star. Depending on the evening, the service is sometimes quicker and sometimes slower. However, unfortunately this was my last visit today as the credit card payment was stopped by the owner. Cash or EC only. Who will still use EC cards in 2024? It's a shame about the restaurant, I liked being here, but unfortunately not anymore.

5 stars - sounds too good to be real? No - what a lovingly furnished and run restaurant. The service was extremely attentive and helpful, the food was a poem (I had the 3-course menu with, among other things, Breton fish soup). Maybe the person who wants a lot of food for little money (so-called "Teuton portions") is in the wrong place here - but who with this claim goes to a French restaurant? Everyone else will definitely get their money's worth - enjoy wonderful food. I hope everyone who comes here has as fantastic a time as I had.

A little piece of France in Weimar We had the pleasure of visiting this French restaurant in Weimar's old town and overall we were very impressed. Eat: The greeting from the kitchen was a fluffy baguette with a delicious, homemade mustard and honey cream that had just the right amount of intensity. A perfect introduction! My main course was a medium-rare steak with fries. In terms of taste, the steak was excellent, although it just missed the A-point - it was grilled a little too long and therefore almost cooked through. The fries, on the other hand, were on point, crispy and well seasoned. Another highlight was the Alsatian-style tarte flambée, which was gratinated with cheese. The dough was perfectly firm and the creamy cream harmonized perfectly with the rest of the ingredients. Drinks: The fresh apple juice had a pleasantly sweet note, the tonic water was refreshing as usual, and the red wine was of very good quality, although quite dry. Staff: The service was consistently friendly and attentive. We were served by two young ladies who were probably students or holiday workers. They were extremely polite and accommodating - nothing to complain about here. Ambiance: The atmosphere was very charming; we were impressed by both the historic building in the old town and the cozy backyard. The backyard was particularly idyllic with the gentle babbling of a fountain. A small criticism would be the uneven ground in the backyard, which caused the tables and chairs to wobble slightly. But that hardly dampened the relaxed atmosphere. The subtle French music in the background also contributed to the pleasant atmosphere. Overall, this restaurant is highly recommended. A place where you like to stay and enjoy French cuisine to the fullest.

Das Essen war sehr gut. Leider haben wir sehr lange darauf gewartet ohne Kommunikation. Der Service scheint noch nicht so richtig zu funktionieren.

Unfortunately, service now leaves a lot to be desired and is no longer commensurate with the price. Despite a reservation, the place was not prepared, the waitress was not familiar with the wine list, they were very inattentive (cutlery was missing and had to be explicitly requested, and the wrong water was served brought, dessert order was forgotten) we were rudely asked to order quickly, the main course of two people was partially burnt and cut into pieces to conceal it. In the end, despite an evening that was very disappointing on many levels, tips were very aggressively and shamelessly demanded. Only the ambience is still nice.

Cozy garden, extremely tasty food, unfortunately somewhat slow service. All in all, recommended.

Very good food in a pleasant bistro atmosphere

We were always very happy here, but unfortunately due to the change in operator, the staff was untrained (didn't know the house wine, cutlery was forgotten, my partner's food came 10 minutes before mine), I couldn't order a small amount of water because it was "out". So I had to take a large 0.75l bottle, which I didn't want at all. The fries for the fillet (or steak) were not the usual homemade ones but from the bag and terribly oily 😟All in all, absolutely no longer justified for the price.

Ich lebe seit Jahren in Weimar & La Tarte ist & bleibt mein absolutes Lieblingsrestaurant. Es ist klein, fein, charmant & immer besonders. Ich gehe immer mit einem guten Gefühl rein & einem noch besseren Gefühl raus. Ich habe fast jedes Gericht auf der Karte probiert & war immer begeistert. Man muss dort Vorspeise, Hauptspeise & Nachspeise essen, weil alles so gut ist, dass man nichts verpassen möchte. Meine Top 3: als Vorspeise die Garnelen, danach der Flammkuchen mit dem Lavendelhonig & dem Ziegenkäse und als Abschluss die Dessert-Reise um die Welt mit dem Rotweineis und dem selbst gebackenen Schokokuchen. Ein Restaurant, dass einen immer besonders fühlen lässt - das schafft sonst niemand in Weimar.

The food was good overall. The soup was really very tasty. The caramelized scallops were not caramelized but still tasty. The snails were also very tasty. The tarte flambée was great! The steak tartare tasted good, but unfortunately it was cut or minced so finely that there was no structure of the meat left, which I found very unfortunate. The ambience takes some getting used to. The service was a disaster! We waited quite a long time for our food. Nobody asked if it was tasty or if we needed anything else, they were completely ignored. The service was simply overwhelming!

Good home cooking in a positive sense. The main course was clearly too big, with such a quantity you have no chance of having dessert. The red wine of the week was unusually good, a real surprise especially given the price. Extremely lovely young team.

We were lucky🍀 to get a table on Saturday evening. The atmosphere, the friendly, always helpful staff and - not to forget - the extremely delicious food and drinks - cannot be sufficiently appreciated with 5 stars. We had ox cheeks and tarte flambée and very good wine. Hhmmm😋😋😋, it was all delicious. And all of this for a very fair fee. Therefore full marks. We'd love to come back. 👍👍👍

Food great, service not appropriate to the prices and level. Trying hard but overwhelmed.

The food is really good and the house wine is also good to drink with it. Unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. We had to wait longer for the menu. The greeting from the kitchen came to some tables before the meal or in between or not at all. Sorry, there wasn't just a somewhat curt answer. There is still room for improvement.

I would like to give 6 stars. The food was fantastic and the prices were fair. Veal cheeks, steamed fish and an excellent soup. Great wines and the service was very warm. We really enjoyed the evening. THANKS!

Great French restaurant in Weimar. C'est manifique

The concept really works! With a French, Mediterranean touch, the cuisine leaves nothing to be desired. The wine selection is designed for everyday consumption, just like in France! You can find the right wine for every dish or snack. Paired with the staff with a French accent, an evening here feels very authentic! Highly recommended for Weimar conditions.

When we ate there in a group of 6 on Thursday, I was shocked to discover that the service was very poor. Even though we contacted us at least twice, we were simply ignored. The food makes it quite expensive for what it ends up being. The wine was fine. However, when we ordered 2 glasses of RED house wine, the waiter arrived with 2 glasses of WHITE... even after he asked twice what we would like. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. You have to know.

Tres bien. Something so loving, in the middle of Weimar. Warms the heart, soul and stomach. Simple, elegant and with that certain something of French lightness, which we have unfortunately lost a little in German gastronomy... Thank you for an unforgettable wedding day evening...

If it weren't for the fantastic kitchen!? Today's Valentine's menu was supposed to be a wonderful experience. But far from it! Guest room packed to maximize customer service, atmosphere like speed dating. Unexpectedly nice conversations with the guests sitting close together, who also criticized the sometimes quite chaotic service. As I said, if the kitchen wasn't so great, you should spend special days somewhere else! Really a shame

Unfortunately, this restaurant was of poor quality with endless waiting times. This has to change for the better. The criticism is therefore aimed at the CEO. In the end, it has to be right on the plate. Staff shortages that cannot cope with the quality of workload can be the guest's problem: The starter took 1 ½ hours, and cold scampi, where the bread only came when they were ready, as well as ox cheeks à la the university cafeteria stew, added to the disappointment. There used to be more scampi and ox cheeks, which underlines the decline in quality and makes you feel a bit taken aback. Wobbly fries and undercooked steaks add to the overall disappointing experience, with the high prices not offering adequate value for the area. It should be emphasized that the waiter was very nice and he is not to blame here. The crémant and schnapps on the house smoothed things over - thanks for that - but the dessert was ok, but still quite manageable in the portion and it probably won't win a culinary award here either. Simple, too little, weak in taste. Where is the love for the product? We have known the restaurant for ten years and yes, the atmosphere is charming. Apparently the management here is to blame for the culinary misery and urgent change is needed here. The restaurant has declined rapidly and Weimar can really use some very good gastronomy! We hope for better times!

Fantastic Real French Restaurant. EVERYTHING IS JUST SO! I really liked the food and the service and the atmosphere meeting all the high standards!!! Visit - I sincerely recommend it! Will like it!

We went to La Tarte (8 people) for a family dinner at Christmas. The standard of the food was very different. The chestnut soup and the saddle of venison were enjoyable, the salmon was without sophistication, and none of us would order the pasta filled with burrata again. Even if the restaurant was full at Christmas, a wait of two hours between the starter and the main course is not acceptable. It's annoying in the finale when the dessert doesn't make it to the table for various reasons (including "not booked") and then it does appear on the bill after the total amount has been called out. We will now give La Tarte a long time to find out before we visit it again.

Ich fand es nicht so toll. Meine Vorspeise war der Hammer, aber der Rest war nicht so toll.

Sehr freundlich. Super lecker. Atmosphäre auch toll. Ich komme bestimmt bald wieder.

Das Ambiente ist an sich sehr schön. Leider stehen die Tische zu eng. Für das Menü benötigten wir zweieinhalb Stunden. Das heißt, ewige Wartezeiten. Kürbissuppe war sehr lecker. Der Hauptgang bestand aus drei Ravioli mit Kürbisschaum, die annähernd kalt waren.

We hebben het naar onze zin gehad. We hadden telefonisch gereserveerd en de tafel was klaar toen we aankwamen. Goed eten voor een goede prijs.

Wir hatten zwei Flammkuchen zum Abendessen, die wirklich vorzüglich waren (klassisch und mit Spinat & Lachs). Wir konnten im Hof sitzen, was gemütlich war. Auch innen gefiel uns die Einrichtung gut!

To be recommended: friendly service right from the first step into the bistro. Really tasty, well prepared and presented dishes. Attention paid to looking after the baby and dog we had with us as well. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. We were well satisfied.

Leckeres Essen und gute Weine zu fairen Preisen. Wir sind immer wieder gerne hier und es lohnt sicher auch eine kurze Anreise.

Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, leider war unsere Reservierung, die sogar per Mail bestätigt worden war, nicht eingetragen und das Personal war überfordert und brachte die bestellten Getränke erst nach mehrmaligen Nachfragen.

Es ist schwierig die Messer so nah nebeneinander zu halten wie da. Müssen schon sehr scharf sein für so schmale Portionen. Geschmacklich gut.

As a french spending (loads) of time in Weimar, this finally feels right. Excellent food, tasting and feeling very much like it does in France! Go-to place as of tonight.

Sehr lecker gegessen, nicht ganz günstig, aber absolut jeden Euro wert. Der/Das Rindertartare und die Bärlauchsuppe sind zu empfehlen. Die Bedienung war freundlich, aufmerksam und sympathisch. Abgesehen von der Tischdeko (diese Hasen sind seltsam) gibt es wirklich nichts auszusetzen.

Sehr zuvorkommende und aufmerksame Bedienung. Ruhige und entspannte Atmosphäre, die Unterhaltungen am Tisch waren ideal zu führen. Essen und Getränke super. Kommen bald wieder.

Zuerst: es handelt sich beim La Tarte nicht um ein Restaurant sondern um ein Bistro. Das Speisenangebot ist darauf ausgerichtet. Auch meine Steak frites sind ein typisches französisches Bistro Gericht. Das hierzu servierte Rumpsteak war sehr gut und auf den Punkt gebraten. Leider ohne Salz und Pfeffer. Von den hausgemachten frites war ich enttäuscht, ziemlich pappig statt knusprig und ebenfalls ohne Salz. Mit der Mayonnaise zusammen konnte man sie essen. Leider ist der Raum im hinteren Bereich etwas Bunkerartig, es ist aber der Versuch zu erkennen, von der Einrichtung und Dekoration her dass Beste draus zu machen. Die im Gastraum gestapelten Pappkartons halte ich allerdings in diesem Zusammenhang, falls so gemeint, für unangebracht. Die beiden jungen Service Mitarbeiterinnen waren sehr freundlich und umsichtig.

Das Viergangmenü war für den hohen Preis nur durchschnittlich gewesen. Ebenso hoch empfanden wir den Preis für die Weinbegleitung zum Essen p.P. 29,-€ für drei Gläser Wein. Das Ambiente hatte das Niveau eines Imbisses, sage und schreibe 10 cm Abstand zum Nachbartisch, also volle Auslastung war scheinbar gewollt. Einen gemeinsamen Abend zu zweit für 160,- € stellt man sich anders vor !

Wir hatten hier am Valentinstag ein sehr leckeres Vier-Gänge Menü. Essen, Getränke und Service waren Klasse und ich würde auch gern wiederkommen. Warum dann nur drei Sterne? Die Tische standen für unseren Geschmack viel zu eng beieinander und man hat gezwungenermaßen jedes Wort der Nachbarn mitbekommen (oder hätte auch ohne Probleme von deren Teller essen können 🙂). Daraus mag in der ein oder anderen Situation ein nettes Gespräch entstehen. Allerdings hätten wir uns etwas mehr Privatsphäre für einen entspannteren Abend gewünscht. Schade!
