La Cantinetta in Wiesbaden

I had mixed appetizer platter and then pizza carpaccio. It tasted very good and the red wine was delicious.

The food is a delight!! If you're not careful, you'll forget that you're in Wiesbaden and think you're in a small alley in Rome or Florence. The customer approach is sometimes very direct, but is still packaged with enough charm. Always my pleasure!!

Everything is simply TOP, the best rest. In Wiesbaden! Even WiFi for customers. Resti employees are simply super friendly. When it comes to food, they make an effort, no matter what, only here!

I recently visited this Italian restaurant in Wiesbaden with my girlfriend, excited to try authentic Italian cuisine for the first time. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. The food was okay, but it wasn’t great. For example, my schnitzel came without any sauce, mayo, or even salt, and I had to ask for these basics. Mayo wasn’t complimentary either – you have to pay extra for it. There was no salt on the table, which is a pretty basic thing you’d expect, and again, we had to ask for it. The most disappointing part, however, was the service. Our server, who had a beard, was incredibly unfriendly and unresponsive throughout the meal. When we asked for the check, he just threw the bill on the table without a word and walked away. It felt like we weren’t welcome there, almost like the restaurant is only meant for Italians or regulars, which left a very bad impression. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a friendly atmosphere or good service. The food was average at best, and the lack of hospitality made the experience memorable in a bad way. Photos attached for reference.

We had high hopes from the outside. The serving on the plate also looks sophisticated. We didn't like it at all. Overcooked pasta... my lasagne didn't even have bechamel on it, just tomato sauce and cheese. Sauces don't taste good. Pizza doesn't taste good... We didn't have meat but pasta and pizza no...

We ate there yesterday and I had been looking forward to the truffle pasta all day. The portions are getting smaller and smaller - but ok. The sauce tasted very bland and just a pinch of salt would have been enough. Also, the cheapest truffle is grated over the pasta, so the whole dish doesn't taste like truffles. I would be distracted from the cheap truffle if you at least stir a few drops of truffle oil into the pasta. Then it tastes great and no one notices anything. And then the dreary sprig of rosemary. Guys, leave him out? It bothers me for months and I think “well, maybe it was the last one left” but it really is like that every time. Then you can't charge €26 for the plate. It would be so easy and not more expensive to try harder. As I said, a healthy sprig of rosemary, a pinch of salt and a few drops of truffle oil would have been enough for a 1A dish,

I always like the service, the atmosphere and the food.

Had the fixed menu lunch @€15pp which was bargain considering the quality of the venue, location and the dishes on offer.. Also ended up there right before they closed up one random weeknight after the kitchen was closed. They were still happy to have us and improvised on what they could offer us to east and drink. Great wines are in stock always. Friendly service. Decent place for Italian food or drinks to sit back and watch the world go by..

It looks nice at first glance, but the good reviews also disappointed us. You can see the size of the portion yourself in the photo (according to the waiter, this is a larger portion; there was a mix of three dishes to try). We also waited forever for the tickets and our food. Our conclusion: the restaurant would like to give the appearance of a high-quality restaurant, but neither the premises nor the food nor the service are adequate for this.

Very nice atmosphere, food good to very good, but portions are borderline considering the price. Waiters seemed very stressed and therefore had no capacity to offer really good service.

The best Italian restaurant in Weisbaden! The service is a 10/10. All of the staff is very friendly and provide great suggestions if you can't decide what you would like. They have menus in English and the staff speak some English as well. Everyone is very friendly and it is very easy to make resevations online. If you plan on coming over the weekend, definitely make a reservation. I have been here more times than I can count and I have never had a bad meal. Everything is delicious. My favorites are the pastas, salads, and steaks. The truffle pasta is wonderful. The potions are perfect and every thing comes out piping hot. This is a great location to people watch. The restaurant is good for couples, families and small groups. Any time I have family visiting from the states I am sure to bring them here. The expesso martinis are the BEST! Try it and thank me later. This is also a great place to reserve for dinner parties or corporate outings. There is a parking deck/parkhaus near by that is walking distance 3-5 min walk away.

From the service to the food to the ambience, everything is perfect here. Fabulous food, really a great recommendation 👍

The food was super tasty, although the drinks took an extremely long time and the starters were very chaotic, especially not quite as we had ordered. However, the main course and dessert came together very quickly and tasted excellent. Unfortunately, we also had someone in service who - judging by her facial expression and behavior - didn't enjoy her work. All in all, it's a nice place and recommended.

Delicious food and good value for money. What bothers the staff constantly arguing.

Ivian was first indifferent and then aggressive when we requested to pay. Genuinely bizarre. Food was good; great that the menu is broad but consistently high quality. Rest of the service was fine for a larger group.

There is only one employee who has poor service and is unfriendly. It's a shame, because the other employees are very nice. Without him it would be perfect.

Hidden away in a little alley, this gem of an Italian restaurant will delight and charm you. The food is simply delicious. I cannot describe the joy you’ll feel when you feast on the gigantic gnocchi stuffed with Parmesan cream and slathered with a Parmesan truffle sauce. Be sure to get the fresh bread and homemade salted butter and top it off with a bottle of Lugana white wine. I hope you enjoy this place as much as we did.

Today the two of us were guests at “La Cantinetta”, spontaneously and without a reservation. The various waiters were very attentive and friendly, the food was above average and, due to the fresh ingredients, more than appropriate for the price (risotto with truffles and green asparagus for €22, hand-made tortellini). Salsiccia filling for 20€). What we found particularly worth mentioning was the help with choosing the wine, it was specially provided Keller looked for a bottle of Ornelaia for us, which was then served professionally and courteously. The mixed dessert platter is more than recommended. Overall, we had a wonderful evening and would like to be a guest again at any time.

The food was good and the time between ordering and completion was fine. In terms of taste, the food was good but not particularly special that it needed to be highlighted. Very strong criticism: there were two mice running under the tables. After we pointed this out to the waiter, we were seated at… nothing more. I would have liked to have been much more accommodating from the company here. A reason for me unfortunately not to come again.

We had put together a menu from the lunch menu. As always, everything was very tasty and visually very appealing. The price/performance ratio is absolutely top. The service was friendly and attentive as always. We'd love to come back.

We had dinner at La Cantinetta for my daughter's birthday. Nice service, nice location Very good pasta especially the Cabonara. Pizza is also good, but far too little taste for a Diavolo. Lilee drinks very well. The price is a bit high but still within reasonable limits these days

The two of us spontaneously came to dinner late in the afternoon and it was well attended. Reasonably priced, nothing to complain about in terms of cuisine - great fragrant ingredients, also very fast, good service. Homemade gnocchi with truffles was a delight! Pizza just as great... Unfortunately, the atmosphere was spoiled by quite loud and recurring organizational discussions between the service employees in the outside area (about occupying the table) a la "You have to account for the table, then x number of people will sit here and over here and there...etc.") and someone who was constantly using the Kulli button loudly seemed a bit stressed. All of this could also be discussed on the sidelines. Food impeccable and highly recommended. Praise to the kitchen. The alley is very busy, as an indication for those who prefer a quieter place. We were able to enjoy the hustle and bustle and would come back.

We ate here several times. Very pleasant atmosphere, service impeccable and the food looked and tasted very good. Warmly recommended.

The ambience and the food was great. But unfortunately the service didn't work at all. No hello, no eye contact when ordering, paying, food and drinks kept being brought to our table from the wrong table. No thanks, no please. When I paid, they complained that the tip wasn't enough. It was appropriate. Actually there shouldn't have been any for the service, but there was for the kitchen.

Price was a bit high for the quality

The food was really delicious, but unfortunately it doesn't make it any better when the waiters are rude to you. I had dinner there on Saturday with a friend as a couple with a reservation. After the waiters next to us argued about space, we were forced to move back or we would have to leave at 7pm. In general, the food was very hectic and not customer-oriented. You are then asked in a harsh tone: “Café or espresso?!” and then you simply put the bill down and snatch it out of your hand while you put the money in it. Even if the food is delicious, there are enough good Italian restaurants in the surrounding area, such as Little Italy, where you feel at home and comfortable as a customer

We weren't satisfied, the food tasted normal for this price range. The waitresses were very rude, only the regular customers were treated kindly. It was our first and last time here!

Non-carbonated and warm drinks, service very unfriendly and overloaded

We had lunch, no menu. The food was mediocre, the portions were far too small as a main course, it would just be fine as a primi piatti. The atmosphere was okay.

My recommendation is the “homemade fries”, you should definitely try them. We couldn't help but laugh when they were served. Never again!

It was like Italy... only in Wiesbaden

Unfortunately, the chanterelle cream soup was pretty tasteless, but the main course (Cappellacci Salsiccia) was very good. Card reader was defective! Difficult overall situation!! What is particularly noteworthy, however, is that, according to our evaluation, the soup was taken out of the bill. Very appropriate!!

Highly recommended. We ate both dishes with meat and it was really very good. The portions are not small either. Big praise to the chef/cook.

The atmosphere is nice; That's the only thing the restaurant can score with. Portions are minimalist; there is “nothing” in advance. My wife had an eggplant casserole that wasn't enough for an appetizer. We reported this, but no response! We then ate our fill of oil and pizza bread. We were charged 8.60 euros for this. An absolute disgrace. “Much ado about nothing” - I think that fits here!

Last night we had dinner at the Cantinetta..... An Italian restaurant recommended by friends who live in Fribourg, thanks to them we managed to find a restaurant that could accommodate 50 people between adults and children.... We arrived from Italy to accompany our girls for the European competition of Cheerleading in Wiesbaden... Excellent food, a beautiful room reserved just for us, we had a menu prepared and we had the choice between two first courses, spaghetti with garlic, oil and chilli pepper or penne all'arrabbiata, second courses scallops in Marsala with baked potatoes or Sea bass with lemon sauce and risotto Dessert Tiramisu or panna cotta... Excellent cooking for pasta, a good aroma, very good for both first courses. The second courses of meat and fish are also very good, our girls chose between a good pizza, pasta and a second course. A nice evening... Recommended for all Italians visiting Weisbaden

Sneaky waiter behavior up selling wine and asking if we wanted bread for the table not telling us it costs €9. Then charging us extra for dividing pasta with red sauce between two kids. I lived in Italy for 6 years. You'd be kicked out of the country for that. Then we got charged a "auslage" which was nearly 15% of the bill without telling us. We were two adults and two kids. The good food was undermined by the sneaky behavior. Also, portions were a bit small for the high price. We got the nicer plates dinners instead of pizza. It's your money, do what you want.

Great food with courteous service

Went there based on a recommendation. Despite the fact that we came early in the evening and without a reservation, we got a table. Even in a good location. We were also served quite quickly. However, the waitresses seemed “unmotivated” and “annoyed” to me. There were a few other small things, which is why there are only 2 stars for the service. Radler was exactly right. Temperature and mixing ratio. Top! Food was super delicious! Highly recommended, I'll even accept the "service"! Price, well, I don't think it's "too expensive". Overall, I would recommend him!

The optics are 5/5 star quality. It was flavorful and not bland. The dishes sound outstanding, but they don't taste anything different and groundbreaking, so that a certain addiction arises. The free side dish (bread) was served without butter or anything similar and tasted boring. It probably serves as a stuffing agent. If you've tried a lot of cuisines and don't just live in the country, then the food here really isn't that special. Service: 3/5 Depending on the waiter and the day, you will simply get an unfriendly waiter who either completely forgets the bill or is simply unfriendly. 1 star removed because the table of four got the same dish first, even though I had been sitting there for a while and had ordered the food. Otherwise the waitress would come and often ask if you were satisfied. Price: For the above-mentioned services, it is not worth it for the stomach and palate. Of course, this is something for people who ONLY eat there with their eyes or for Instagram.

I was there alone for the second time yesterday with my husband. The lunch menu is great and the price-performance ratio is great. The waiters regularly check whether the guest has any further wishes, that the food is excellent, the plates are very lovingly prepared, you can really tell that your eyes are eating too. I can only recommend everyone to eat there once and anyone who has been there will be happy to come back. This wasn't our last visit. When we have doctor's appointments in Wiesbaden we like to eat there. The food is served quickly. The portions are so big that you will be full. I ate the best pizza I've ever had there and the bread that comes with the entrée is freshly made and baked in-house. We got the bread fresh out of the oven.

Prices seemed to be fair on the menu card but when we wanted to pay and they told us the final price, it didn't make any sense at all . Furthermore, the detailed bill was not provided. This is not how it should be done and we are not coming back again.

Prices are averagely high, daily recommendation of homemade pasta, all 3 are absolutely great, especially the fillings and sauces Pizza was good, carpaccio pizza could have been seasoned more interestingly, unfortunately the pizza knife wasn't that sharp, the filled canneloni were pancakes, I didn't know that, and they weren't our taste either, but the seasoning and sauce and filling were good. We would definitely come back I thought it was a shame that there were four of us there for the golden wedding anniversary. You could see this, or that there was something to celebrate - other tables had more decorations, or a flower and 2 tables received a bread basket with butter as a greeting from the kitchen. Regular guests or not, you feel like you've been put behind a bit.

We went to Wiesbaden for a day trip. Ate and drank wine incredibly well. Salad was excellent and pizza negra was unique. We'll definitely be back. To be on the safe side, make a reservation ;).

Not too exciting experience. Waitress who insisted on ordering as many things as possible, gnocchi with an industrial taste that certainly didn't seem homemade, drowned in cream with truffles that didn't taste like truffles. It was raining and they made us sit outside under a tent, then the rain increased and while we were getting wet we asked to change tables, the Italian waiter made a joke, but left us outside. Bill too high for the quality of the food.

Over 6 euros for stale tap water. The pizza looked good but was cold and quickly hardened and therefore not enjoyable. Very pork-heavy and few classic pizza variations The service staff is not friendly and doesn't understand anything, you have to repeat yourself several times. Very blatant upselling methods Seating far too dense and uncomfortable. All in all, just too overrated.

Der Gast hat noch nicht Platz genommen, da steht der Kellner bereits mit der aufgeschlagenen Speisekarte am Tisch und wartet auf die erste Bestellung. Ganz offensichtlich geht es im Restaurant an erster Stelle darum, die Tische am Abend möglichst oft mit neuen Gästen zu besetzen, wofür auch das schnelle Servieren von Hauptspeise und Dessert ohne Zeitversatz spricht. Das Speisenangebot ist, zumindest für die Innengastronomie, überschaubar. Im Außenbereich werden offensichtlich noch weitere Gerichte, u.a. auch Pizzen, angeboten. Die Speisen selbst sind hochwertig, schmackhaft und optisch sehr schön zubereitet. Das spricht für die Qualität der Küche und ist sicher ein Pluspunkt. Allerdings darf man dies auch angesichts der aufgerufenen Preise erwarten. Fazit: Gut gespeist, aber beim nächsten Mal doch lieber wieder in einem Restaurant, in dem man nicht vom ersten Moment an spürt, dass man möglichst schnell verzehren, bezahlen und wieder gehen soll.

The guest hasn't yet sat down when the waiter is already standing at the table with the menu open and waiting for the first order. Obviously, the main aim in the restaurant is to fill the tables with new guests as often as possible in the evening, which is also reflected in the quick serving of the main course and dessert without any delay. The range of food on offer is manageable, at least for indoor dining. There are obviously other dishes on offer outside, including pizzas. The dishes themselves are high quality, tasty and visually beautifully prepared. This speaks for the quality of the cuisine and is certainly a plus point. However, this is to be expected given the prices quoted. Conclusion: Good meal, but next time I would rather go to a restaurant where you don't feel from the first moment that you should eat, pay and leave as quickly as possible.

The food was good. The portions are small and the prices are significantly too high. There are few vegetarian options except salad. The waiters are very committed to aperitifs and appetizer recommendations. The tables are quite close, so neighbors' conversations are inevitably overheard. The restaurant is out of the question for us.

For me personally, service is the be-all and end-all. I've been here a lot and always gave it a chance because of the location. The dishes are quite solid, you can do it. Almost all of our pizza (which we didn't eat) was folded up and wrapped in aluminum foil to take away. Unfortunately, the waiters didn't accommodate us at all. So sorry, with a restaurant like this and a bill like this you expect a little more.

A little loud, but the rest makes up for it

Nice location, in the old town of Wiesbaden. We had a noodle triology, the waiter said it was a big portion. But it was very little, more like an appetizer, but more expensive. But taste good. Then the waiter miscalculated by €10 to our disadvantage.

Waited over 45 minutes for an espresso martini, which was supposed to cost €17.50 and of course wasn't on the menu! The pasta was al dente and good, the “truffle sauce” was cream with sugar. The restaurant manager was kind and insightful! Staff was really nice! But unfortunately that doesn't make the overall picture any better

The restaurant is located in a nice alley, but that's about it. In a restaurant it is usual to be served bread and olives - not here. In addition, you have olive oil and balsamic vinegar at your table - here too, but no plate! The waiter arrived and started speaking “Italian”, but they aren’t Italian, which isn’t a bad thing! However, this fuss... The drinks came where I was already afraid that the drinks would be spilled on us. The food came, but my dish was delivered to the wrong table. Just don't order a salad. It's a shame what you get for this price. We finished eating and chatted a bit. The waiter put everything away and “showed” you to get up. Been there for the first time and definitely the last time!

The atmosphere is nice. The food was good. It was not as special as expected but still very good. Two things made our experience very inconvenient. First, our impression was that all waiter's recommendations were upselling attempts. I get that better plates might be more pricey, but in most restaurants in Germany, they make sure that not all recommendations are on the pricey side of the menu. The second thing , which was very annoying and unprofessional was the waiter's behavior. In the begining he was very nice and asked us where we are from and even asked some personal questions, which made us feel very inconvenient especially when we ordered alcohol he said that he knows that Egyptians (Arabs/Muslims) do not drink alcohol but we do drink? And when we asked him where he is from he said he is half Italian half Turkish. After we paid the check, he talked to us in Arabic and said that he is Arabic and talks Arabic. In our opinion, this is very sneaky and unprofessional. First, he is the one who initiated the discussion and asked us where we are from and then when we asked where he is from he lied, probably to make us feel free and say whatever we want in Arabic so he can understand everything and then in the end tell us he understood. We didn't say anything bad anyways, but the idea itself is very annoying and especially asking us "so do you drink alcohol although you are Egyptians" after we ordered the drink, we didn't get whether this was a question because we already ordered, so logically the answer is yes, or whether this was a rhetorical judgemental question. Also, the check included taxes and tips, which is uncommon in Germany! We wanted to leave tips anyway, but we shouldn't be forced. Overall, a very annoying experience that we won't repeat again.

Very tasty food, at a top price-performance ratio, very friendly owner who responds to his guests at all times. Tested pizza and salad yourself. It just tastes really good.

The one star is just so I can post a review. A "good restaurant" where I ask nicely if there are also non-alcoholic cocktails. You could offer me non-alcoholic Hugo/Lillet wild berry. At the end on the bill the price for the non-alcoholic Lillet: 9.50 euros, the same as for the normal Lillet with alcohol. Simply outrageous. And when I asked if the non-alcoholic cocktail cost the same as the one with alcohol, the waitress just answered a rough "yes" and she even dared to mention that we should pay by card instead!!! Simply outrageous! Never go there again. Next time I'd rather spend my money somewhere where the service is worth it!

Ate there today and never again, I have never experienced such outrageous service. My order was completely ignored and I was insulted in English. I have never been treated so badly in my life. I initially thought the service and ambience would be great, but it's all just a matter of money. If you pay little, you will be treated badly. In any case, I won't be coming anymore.

Waited 1 hour for pizza. Out of the question. Long wait for everything. 6 waiters were on site. Local wants to be something that it isn't. Waiters act as if they are quick but are uncoordinated. A waiter comes and sets out additional cutlery, then someone comes and clears it away so that the first waiter can put it back down. Price performance doesn't fit. If we hadn't made a reservation we would have gone somewhere else.

Service a disaster, obvious preference for regular customers. 30min waiting time for drinks, 60min for food. Service was rude despite repeated questions etc. on my part - food was normally good. But for the price range, everything shouldn't be like that. There was an event at the same time, but you shouldn't let any of the stress or bad mood show - again: especially not in such a price range.

Everything was delicious, fast and good. Until we saw a huge cockroach😳 This seems to be the norm in old buildings.
