Kulisse in München

Today I was driving a chauffeur on Maximilianstrasse and waiting for my guests, who were at a restaurant. Since I urgently needed the restroom, I went in briefly and politely asked if I could use it – for a fee, of course. I was told it cost €1, which was perfectly fine with me. Unfortunately, I only had 80 cents in change, including a few copper coins. To my surprise, I was told that copper coins weren't accepted – I've never experienced that before. Furthermore, I was rather rudely told not to use toilet paper, even though I only needed to pee. I don't want to comment on the food or the service at the restaurant itself, but solely on this experience. It's a shame that you're treated like this in such an establishment over a few cents and some small change. A little more friendliness and understanding really wouldn't have gone amiss.

Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. I ordered club sandwiches and cheese sandwich , and it was honestly terrible – cold, low quality, and definitely not worth the price. To make things worse, the staff were rude and unprofessional. Even though we ordered a Sprite, the employee insisted that we still had to order more drinks, claiming it was the restaurant’s “policy.” When we asked where this policy was written, she just said, “That’s what my manager told me.” This kind of behavior feels dishonest and disrespectful. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The restaurant has little to no charm. Whether you like the ambiance is a matter of taste, of course. The service seems very distant and uninviting. If you come here with the intention of having breakfast, you'll be extremely disappointed. The menu isn't very rich, and we observed a few other guests who apparently had the same intention and left shortly after a coffee. That was the case during our visit, too. Unfortunately, the restrooms weren't very nice. It was good, however, that you can bring your dog in without any problems. Lots of room for improvement. Actually, it's not enough for this location. The restaurant is probably better visited in the evening.

Wir hatten Caesar Salad mit Beilage Huhn bestellt und uns nicht vorstellen können, dass man so ein simples Gericht mit Langweilerdressing, Minimalparmesan-und croutons dermaßen „verhunzen“ kann… Preis stand in keinem Verhältnis zur Leistung- nur die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Kulisse?? Nie wieder:(

Absolutely the worst coffee experience I’ve had. I ordered a flat white, and what they served was a double espresso with barely 10ml of milk foam — nothing like a proper flat white. When I politely asked the barista about it, he got rude and started shouting at me. I told him it looked more like a macchiato, and his response? “Drink it or leave.” Unbelievably unprofessional. If you care about quality coffee or basic respect as a customer, avoid this place. There are plenty of better cafés nearby that actually know what a flat white is — and treat people like human beings.

First of all, a surprise: Getting a table easily at 6 p.m. on a Friday in such a central location is truly astonishing! The service is fast, but seems uninspired and distant. The prices are okay for this location. The salads we ordered were impeccable. Baked goat cheese is usually a standard dish where you can't go wrong. Not so in this setting. Soggy, barely browned, and completely flavorless—a disgrace.

This was our first time here. After a performance at the Kammerspiele on March 15, 2025, we were extremely surprised: The atmosphere was very pleasant, and despite the theater's capacity, the service was extremely friendly, courteous, and prompt. You hardly find that in restaurants in Austria anymore. Keep it up! We'd love to come back 😊

A bald guy who works in a bar is one of the worst people I have ever met in my life. I went into this restaurant and ordered food and a drink. He poured me the drink in a violent way as if he was going to pay for it. Then he brought me the wrong food order. When I told him that I didn’t order this dish, he said to me that I ordered it and I showed him that I searched for a type of sauce on Google before the dish came. He said to me no again in a very rude tone and left it for me. After that, a kind order came from Womania. She is the one who made him jealous. The person was serious and rude. He said that he doesn’t want to work. It is better for him to stay at home or come to Dubai and we will give him lessons in how to deal with customers because this is a priority for all restaurants and cafes.

Waren am 8.2.25 vor Theaterbesuch in der Kulisse. Bedienung freundlich. Aber das Essen Fastfood, lieblos gemacht. Früher war die Kulisse immer ideenreich es gab „ Theaterteller“. Jetzt schlechte Qualität, auf den Teller geklatscht. Der Weißwein zu warm. Wir kommen nicht wieder!

If you want to be treated awfully, congrats this is the right place. Absolutely rude and arrogant waitress, and on top of that they charge 15% for the service EXCUSE ME😂!? Not worth the hype. Save your money for a better place where you get treated with politeness and respect. The worst service I have ever seen in my life. From the first time we entered, the worker started hitting us a little and was brutal and had no manners. On top of that, they charged 15% service for rudeness. Save your money and spend it in a place that treats you with politeness and respect.

A very bad experience. I do not advise families or groups to visit this cafe. We ordered sweets from them, and we were 6 people. The amount was approximately 65€. However, the order was not accepted. Bad attitude, can’t take orders correctly and bad overall mood from the old lady, not coming back to this place and they force us that each person sits has to order one thing and they say that this is the german law over here they are exploiting people and lying this very bad for a coffee with this good reputation to be that bad !!!!!!!!!

Wanted to pre-order a dish over the phone. After I wanted to know how long it would take until I could pick it up, the employee on the phone couldn't give me a time. You could tell he didn't want to use the phone. So I had to decide against it. A pity…

Kulisse is a good place to have a quick lunch or coffee. The food is great and the staff are friendly too.

enjoy your meal. not special. mediocre wines. Non-luxury restaurant. Dom Perignon, Masseto, Cristal, Tignanello, Krug, Chateau Rayas and Jacques Selosse etc. don't even know what they are. You have no idea. They only have average Italian wines. unprofessional staff. and not very nice. I strongly advise against it. Only go there if you like mediocre restaurants. I'm not going back. If it were possible, I would have given the review zero stars, but Google doesn't allow that.

Perfect location for a nice coffee or drink. They have daydrinking events every Saturday going which is a super nice get together with DJs and cold drinks. Worth checking out. It’s called ,glammunich‘. The food is 10/10. every dish I tried was great. Love to come back there. The owner is welcoming as well.

The setting is a top place for good food, delicious cafés and a great ambience on Maximilianstrasse in Munich. The Chique event there was amazing!

A very cool shop in Munich, perfect for a lunch or a coffee, in the middle of Maximilianstrasse. The staff was very nice, you immediately felt welcome. Food very, very tasty! I can only recommend it 🫶🏻

SILVESTER 2023 in der Kulisse war einfach zu gut. Wir freuen uns schon sehr auf das nächste Event am 25.01.24 😍

Nicht zu toppen. Einer der Highlights in München. Zuerst war ich hier zum Aperol trinken, da die Lage einfach nur perfekt ist, vor allem im Sommer. Als ich aber die Speisen (vor allen den Kaiserschmarrn) probiert habe, ist dies zu meinem Lieblingsrestaurant der Innenstadt geworden. Die Küche ist außergewöhnlich gut. Vom Wiener Schnitzel, über Graved Lachs bis zum Kaiserschmarrn schmeckt alles nicht nur gut, sondern beeindruckend. Ich nutze jegliche Möglichkeit, einen Cocktail im Sommer, etwas Süßes im Herbst, eine warme Mahlzeit im Winter und einen frischen Tee im Frühling, um in diesem Restaurant zu sitzen. Eine Ehrennennung gibt es auch für die blonde Kellnerin, dessen Namen mir leider entfallen ist. Sie ist eine absolute Zuckermaus, freundlich, kompetent, interessiert und sehr warm als Person. Ein Goldstück.

Horrible! Not a welcoming place at all, when we know that there are so many nice restaurants and cafés in Munich. I asked for more hot water for my tea and they charged 2,50€ for the extra hot water!! Also, they ask you to go to the ATM to get cash if you spend less than 20€, which is a drag. Don’t go there.

Ein Lokal zum Sehen und gesehen werden. Direkt in der Maximilianstrasse, die Porsches und Ferraris fahren ständig vorbei. Die Menükarte ist sehr vielseitig, eine lange Wochenkarte. Das Essen ist gut, aber nicht ausgezeichnet. Viele arabischen Gäste mögen dieses Restaurant. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam, und es ging auch zügig voran. Die Rechnung war ca 25% höher als vor einem Jahr, aber es ist jetzt überall so.

Schöne Location, um ein Glas Wein und oder einen Kaffee zu genießen. Beim Essen gibt es Luft nach oben, der Service schwankt zwischen kühl und super freundlich. Die Begrüßung damit zu beginnen, dass der Tisch in einer Stunde reserviert ist, war wenig einladend.

ne große Enttäuschung! Nachdem wir einen Tisch für 2 bestellt hatten, hat man uns erstmal beim Eintreffen auf Nachfrage ob wir reserviert hätten und auf welchen Namen an 2 verschiedene Tische gesetzt. Wo wir uns nicht sehen konnten. Nach 15 Minuten warten, bin ich aufgestanden und wir haben uns gefunden. Die Kellner, die Chefin haben es mitbekommen, keine Entschuldigung. Kein Kaffee aufs Haus nix. Und dann das lieblos hingeklatschte Essen, eher mittelmäßige Qualität zu überhöhten Preisen. Nichtmal einen 2. Wein konnten wir trotz 3x Winkens bestellen, so überfordert waren die Kellnerinnen. Zum Zahlen haben wir dann auch noch 3 x gebeten. Und das war's dann auch! Kein Trinkgeld und nie wieder Kulisse! Mein Gott war das früher mal ein netter Theaterladen, fast mein Wohnzimmer.... Heute nur Nepp, Angeberische Dior-Gockel und aufgespritzte Hühner.

In einem leeren Lokal das Gefühl als Gast zu bekommen, dass man unerwünscht ist, ist traurig. Ein paar Meter weiter wäre die Hotel-Bar des Vier-Jahreszeiten gewesen, wo man sicher mit mehr Professionalität empfangen worden wäre. Auf nie wieder sehen. Leider trotz der guten Lage.

Situé dans un quartier chic de Münich ce restaurant proche des salles de spectacles est agréable avec une décoration soignée des plats délicieux pour un prix abordable. Exemple : 57 € à deux le plat plus 2 bières.

Es ist schon unfassbar, wie der smarte Chef Johannes dieses Restaurants inmitten der Münchner Flaniermeile Maximilianstrasse das schafft. Das Essen ist immer perfekt. Der Service erinnert sich an jeden Wunsch. Und das schon nach dem ersten Besuch. Und das ganze team lässt einen sich wohlfühlen, wann immer man kommt. Das erklärt die vielen nationalen und internationalen Stammgäste. Ein sommerlicher Abend bei perfekt mediterraner, aber durchaus regional bereichertet Küche ist ein Erlebnis, wenn man den vom Shoppen in einer der schönsten Strassen der Welt erschöpft vorbeigehenden Gäste zuschauen kann. Perfect.

Kartenzahlung erst ab 30€. Wird einem mit einer Dreistigkeit gesagt, wenn man bezahlen will. Und wo der nächste Geld-Automat ist, weiß man nicht. Service 6, nie wieder.

Bei unseren Besuchen in München sind wir immer gerne in die Kulisse eingekehrt. Leider nimmt die Qualität der Speisen immer mehr ab. Wenn man Glück hat schmeckt es gut, wenn nicht fast nicht genießbar - so wie bei mir gestern. Ein Hinweis darauf wird nicht wirklich wahr genommen und Beschwerden ignoriert.

Die Kulisse ist das Theaterrestaurant der Münchener Kammerspiele in herausragender Lage an der Maximilianstrasse zwischen all den Luxusgeschäften. Wer hier eintritt, gelangt in eine ganz andere Welt. Das Publikum sitzt hier in freudiger Erwartung der nächsten Aufführung, es ist schon ein ganz spezielles Ambiente, das man hier findet. Dabei sind die Räumlichkeiten sehr einfach und bistromässig gehalten, allerdings mit stimmungsvoller Beleuchtung und von oben schimmert ein rosa Lichtschein. Die Karte liest sich ganz nett, Bekanntes neben Innoativem zu doch recht zivilen Preisen. Der Service ist recht flott, wirkte aber ein wenig unorganisiert, die Herrschaften neben mir mussten wohl etwas länger aufs Essen warten. Ich hatte Schweinefiletmedaillons mit Keniabohnen, Schupfnudeln und Steinpilzrahm. Kam schön auf einem grauen Teller angerichtet, hinterliess aber keinen nachhaltigen Eindruck, vor allem die auf Kartoffelbasis hergestellten Nudeln waren arg trocken, die Sauce ohne Pfiff und die Bohnen nicht wirklich knackig. Der Wein war ebenfalls in Ordnung, allerdings ohne Nachhall. Bistro bleibt Bistro... Ärgerlich zum Schluss, dass keinerlei Kartenzahlung akzeptiert wurde, so dass ich noch schnell zum Geldautomaten nebenan musste.

Es ist ein angenehmes Restaurant mit einem exzellenten Service und einer bezahlbaren herausragenden Küche. Vor allem gibt es hier Speisen, die man woanders nicht findet. Sehr erholsam am Abend, wenn die Gäste ins Theater abgeschwirrt sind.

Seit langer Zeit mal wieder da gewesen - es hat sich gelohnt. Sensationelle Pasta mit Hummer vom neapolitanischen Koch und perfekter Service :-). Wir kommen sehr gern wieder!

No centro da cidade com ótima frequência e boa cozinha, comemos pratos regionais que estavam saborosos e em boa quantidade. Os preços são razoáveis.

Ich kenne das Restaurant seit 30 Jahren und die Speckpfannkuchen sind legendär. Aber leider heute nicht. So schade! Hoffe wir hatten nur mal Pech... Der Tafelspitz war ungenießbar.

An ideal spot for a coffee and snack. It’s quite cosy but very friendly. Not budget prices but the breakfast dishes are good value. You can reserve a table which would help if you are going to the Opera House.

We really used to like this place. Have been coming here for many years but something is going terribly wrong here. The food quality is not the same as before. Made me and my husband feel nauseous - we couldn't even finish our food. Staff is not caring at all (when food is so bad that customers can't eat it, I expect to be offered a replacement). The location of this restaurant is great - I wish the food and service were great too! I guess we won't be visiting this place again. Shame.

We use to love this place, after the opera, before the opera or whenever you might want. We loved the schnitzel and the ambience. Something was wrong this time and I can't put my finger on it. The food was mediocre at best and really the menu just seemed a bit bizarre to me. Expensive too, for what it is. Thankfully the whole evening was saved by the apple pancakes. You won't see them on the menu, but do order them, they are delicious. Next time, I think I'll just go for those...
