Yesterday, the whole family went to Kühls in Barmstedt. Mom Ute had the fish, and my brother Flo and I each had the rump steak with fried potatoes and fresh mushrooms. It was delicious! Cooked exactly as ordered, medium-rare, juicy and tender, and simply tasted as it should – world-class! Mom's fish was also very tasty :-) The prices are absolutely fair and justified for this quality. I would personally love to see a cocktail menu, as I enjoy a Sex on the Beach or a Pernod and Coke on ice. Kühl's is a real asset to Barmstedt Lake. P.S.: We'll definitely try the terrace with its lake view in the summer.

It was delicious again. It's a good stopover for me on a walk around Lake Barmstedt.

Been there twice, enjoyed delicious coffee and cake twice. Very friendly, informal service and a beautiful location right on the lake. When the owner asked me why I only gave it 4 stars, I honestly wondered the same thing; there was nothing wrong with it. So, it's now deservedly 5 stars.

Awesome lake terrace. With a truly fantastic view over Lake Rantzaus, swans, geese, and lots of bathers. "HIGHLY, HIGHLY," recommended for a hamburger or cheeseburger. After about a 35-minute drive north from Hamburg on the A23, you'll arrive in beautiful Barmstedt. There are signs for Badewonne next to the pool entrance, which leads to the "GREAT SEA TERRACE." Greetings!

A very cozy restaurant, right on the lake, in the Hotel Seegarten. There's indoor and outdoor seating, very friendly staff, and a lake view. The menu offers seasonal dishes, pasta, pizza, steaks, desserts, and much more. There's also a children's menu. Enjoy!

The breakfast advertised online didn't live up to the quality of what was advertised on the spot! It was supposed to be varied and delicious. We ordered breakfast for two and a large breakfast, and that's what we got: half a slice of cooked ham, a slice of salami, a mini portion of cheese selection, and salmon for each of us, all for just under €50. What's advertised online doesn't even come close to what we got. We're very disappointed and sad because it was also our wedding anniversary, and we had mentioned it when we booked our table.

Delicious food. When the weather is good, you can sit outside as long as there is space.

We had our company outing at the Barmstedt Natural Pool today. We also booked a barbecue buffet at Kühl's. The weather was terrible in the morning, but we were still able to spread out on the terrace, which had been prepared for us, before it opened. With loud music and the food we'd brought with us for breakfast. Then, at lunchtime, the barbecue was set up for us. It tasted fantastic, there was plenty of it, the service was excellent, and we received sensational support in our project. The price was also very reasonable. Thank you very much. It is a wonderful café right on Lake Rantzauer next to the outdoor pool.

A lovely little restaurant where you can enjoy coffee, cake, and even lunch. You can sit outside and enjoy the view of the lake, but you also have the option of sitting inside. Very friendly and attentive staff, the prices are moderate, and you get good food for your money.

The restaurant scores points with its great location directly on the lake – especially on warm, but not too hot, days, it's a pleasant place to be. However, in full sun and with lots of guests, it can quickly become loud and hectic. Today, with cloudy, pleasant weather, it was very relaxed. The service was friendly and prompt. The food was mixed: We really enjoyed the schnitzel, and the burger was also really tasty. Unfortunately, the fries were rather soft and not crispy. The homemade lemonade was okay, but a bit disappointing in terms of taste – I would have hoped for more freshness or refinement. The interior ambiance was rather plain. We were a bit disappointed by the menus, which were already dirty and worn, and the table wasn't properly cleaned, which unfortunately somewhat tarnishes the first impression.

Stay away from the homemade lemonade, which also costs €5.90! It tastes simply artificial and like iced tea! We left half the glass. It was completely unacceptable! Especially the peach lemonade, which had orange slices floating in it. Absolutely outrageous! The bread that came with the soup was dry and from the day before. The lakeside setting is, of course, very nice, and the soup was delicious.

Food Fellas visited Kühls! The weather was perfect, and we ate on the beautiful terrace overlooking the lake. We received a very polite and friendly welcome. Service was good at first, but it took quite a while to clear away. We also would have liked something else to drink...the food is still highly recommended! 4 stars from the 'Food Fellas'👍🏻

I had chicken breast with fries and salad today. The food was very tasty, but the portion was too small for me. 1 tablespoon of salad and a few fries and not much meat left me feeling full. It would have been nice if they served ketchup and mayo at the same time as my meal, rather than 10 minutes later. They only served napkins upon request. The food was very tasty, but the service was unfortunately very slow :( The view was, of course, magnificent. The price/performance ratio was okay.

It used to be so beautiful. We've been there so many times but unfortunately it's getting worse and worse. The meat for the last few times It was fried too short and super crunchy, the large Spezi I ordered was a 0.3 bottle. They couldn't open an umbrella for us because supposedly they were all broken. I find sitting under the roof at the entrance terrible... if people smoke there it doesn't go away at all. It feels like “friends” or something like that are constantly sitting in front of the door, chirping to each other… the chairs are incredibly uncomfortable, and the flat cushions don’t help either. It needs a little love and a little overhaul for the upcoming season. And to finally say something positive, the view of the lake is of course very beautiful and the sour cream is delicious.

Ice cream prices are almost a disgrace. Minimilk €2.10, cactus €2.60. We are talking about prices in the supermarket below €0.50. Therefore we will not come back.

We were here for the first time today. The service was very nice and accommodating. The furnishings are simple but practical. Food rustic and not aloof. Prices Prices are absolutely OK. The portion size was very good. We had fried potatoes with roast beef. Was just right for our taste. Nice fried potatoes with bacon and onions. Super tasty. A family business in a class of its own - whether friends or customers with dogs - enjoy the good atmosphere here and feel comfortable. In short: top owner! Great team! Top location on Lake Rantzauer and great food! Favorite location in Barmstedt.

The fried potatoes were pale, tasteless and without any roasted flavors. The farmer's breakfast was slow and didn't taste convincing either. Seldom eaten so badly.

The weekend before last we stopped at Kühl's after a long walk around the lake. We sat down at a free table on the terrace because it wasn't too cold outside and because all the seats inside were occupied. Unfortunately, we overlooked the sign at the entrance that said that today self-service was available for guests on the terrace. After a while I asked a couple a few tables away and they said you had to order inside. Then everything went very smoothly. We ordered at the counter inside and were able to take out a tray of drinks for ourselves. There were more than enough cushions in the chest on the terrace, so it was very comfortable to wait for food with a view of the lake. When the food was ready, we were asked to come in and take out the plates with the hot food. The young waitress carried cutlery outside for us and we enjoyed our food in the fresh air. It was a little overpriced for the lack of service that day, but the experience of dining by the lake in early November was still enjoyable. It was a successful visit and the staff at the counter were super friendly and given the high number of people in the restaurant, it was understandable that service couldn't be offered outside. So, everything is ok.

The food was excellent. Panfish, plaice and sour meat were all great. The beer selection also has something special to offer. The ambience, at least where we were sitting, was a bit cold and took some getting used to, but the waitress, who seemed to be underage, was the one who shot the bird down: the reference to the reservation was answered with "pick something", and the question about the cloakroom led to a similar search. After the meal, no further requests were asked, but within 2 minutes I was asked three times whether I wanted to pay in cash or with a credit card. Then the amount was called into the room without presenting the receipt. At my completely horrified look, the receipt came rolled up and flying onto the table in annoyance. I know that good staff is hard to come by, but service is what sticks with the customer and can push a really great kitchen into the background.

Despite the empty restaurant, extremely long waiting times for food and drinks. Wrong drink served. Prices that have paid off. Open kitchen, kitchen staff wiping their pomaded hair and then filling up the salad with their bare hands. Yummy. One star is already too many. Never again.

We had pre-ordered a meal for about 30 people (roast beef, sour meat, herring with fried potatoes), only the fried potatoes had to be made fresh. The food was ok, but far too little. The potatoes only came after repeated requests. Then we had to pay five euros more than agreed. The staff seemed annoyed, except for one. Conclusion: Completely overwhelmed, not recommended.

We spontaneously decided to eat and drink here. We went to the terrace and wanted to... s sit down at one of a few free tables. We were very brusquely told by a waitress that we had to wait at the front entrance. For what, why? Well, Barmstedt has many locations, we will avoid these in the future

Open until 9 p.m., but the kitchen is already closed at just before eight on a Saturday? Kind of bites itself a little bit. Maybe you should make it visible outside that the kitchen closes an hour earlier or adjust your opening hours if new customers are no longer served after 8 p.m. anyway? Very disappointing, especially if you got a recommendation. Maybe another time.

Phew! The portion of fries for 5 euros! I thought I was crazy. And.... They were absolutely not tasty! Totally bland. I couldn't finish them. It was my first time as a guest and unfortunately also my last time

You have to say the price-performance ratio is a catastrophe. Soft fries for €4.50 in a measly little box. Completely oily nuggets where you also had to pay extra for the mayo. And stupid sayings from the staff top it all off. We would never go there again.

The restaurant is really beautifully located, but the service is rated as "unsatisfactory", the waiting times for the food are too long and, above all, the price-performance ratio is an absolute disgrace. I paid €9.80 for a chip and tonic water. You can understand that everything has become expensive these days, but what is being sold here borders on outrageousness and is second to none.

Yesterday I wanted to reserve a table for 6:30 p.m. for two people and received the comment: "It's worth it." Just come by, we have plenty of space. I found it strange, but thought maybe he was trying to be funny. I was there with my 84-year-old mother at 6:30 p.m. When we entered the restaurant we were immediately stopped with the comment: "We're closing soon". What miserable management and guest service! We wanted to try the restaurant - we'll never see it again! And neither does anyone in our extended family.

The ice cream balls are very small for €1.90. The coffee tastes good.

The food looked good but there was nothing special about it. It tasted rather boring. For dessert there was ice cream, which was also average at best. The service seemed annoyed and unfriendly. The location itself is beautiful. Could you do something with it?

Unfortunately very disappointed. The food itself was okay, even if the steak was medium rather than medium rare. Some fries were sticky and very greasy. However, the service was much worse. I don't want to be carried on my hands and treated like a king, but a friendly greeting and taking your order would probably be the bare minimum in the restaurant. The service seemed stressed and annoyed, even though there were only two other tables occupied next to ours. The highlight was the end, we hadn't even finished drinking before the untrue question was asked: "But you don't want any more coffee, do you?". It was 7:50 p.m. and it was supposed to be open until 9 p.m....The lights went out. Good-natured as we are, we still gave a tip, which I could have bitten myself in the ass for afterwards. Actually, we wanted to celebrate a special event, but unfortunately we didn't feel comfortable at all. The only good thing was the view of the lake. I've experienced a lot, but nothing like this, that's not how you treat customers, especially since the prices weren't particularly cheap... Unfortunately for us there will never be any cooling again...

Great location, great breakfast.

The restaurant is located at the indoor swimming pool and directly on the lake. Small deduction because of the view of the indoor swimming pool, but otherwise you have designed the restaurant really nicely. Nice terrace, which is certainly packed when the weather is nice because of the lake. The service was really very nice and good. Food was excellent, highly recommended. There was Fischpann and Holsteiner Schnitzel. Side dishes were very tasty and the fish and fish were not off the shelf.

Anyone who likes deep fryer food is well served here. The view is great, the terrace is beautiful. The animal noises from the loudspeaker on the beach disturbed the peace and quiet of the lake.

The location of the restaurant is very nicely located and the food itself is also good, but the price level does not match the food and drinks on offer. If a portion of spagel with salmon costs around €30, you should be full afterwards. If the service had asked every now and then whether everything was OK, we would have liked to have expressed this criticism personally. We eat out a lot and I was personally really disappointed with the price-performance ratio. Of course everything has become more expensive, but a good portion of potatoes or fried potatoes shouldn't be a problem. The aperol was the same

The food is great and the schnitzels are highly recommended. Large and deliciously breaded, very crispy. Beautiful view of Lake Rantzauer and dogs even get a water bowl 👍 You have to try the Grimbergen beer

A beautifully located restaurant with great cuisine. The schnitzel was to die for. Perfect fries and large portion. Unfortunately, the service was a bit busy and the facilities outside were a bit basic. I can still recommend it. More than full at a fair price.

Were there on Father's Day and ate very tasty panfish and enjoyed a very good farmer's breakfast. Super nice service and a great view of the lake. What I didn't like was that you had to pay inside and stood in line for 15 minutes until you finally got there Was allowed to pay for his food. That has to be solved differently. Otherwise I can highly recommend it

A nice restaurant right next to the swimming pool. The drinks and menu are clear and the prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and helpful. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. The outdoor terrace offers a great view over the swimming lake with a green meadow and sandy beach. Sufficient parking spaces are available.

Kühl's restaurant on Lake Ranzauer, well located and busy. We had lunch. Finkenwerder plaice with fried potatoes and salad, roast beef with fried potatoes and salad. Delicious. Nice staff and delicious food, gladly again.

Parking is great, and most seats in the restaurant have a beautiful view over the lake. You have to wait a long time for food, and when it comes, half of it is lukewarm. The prices do not correspond to the quality of the food or the portion size. The price-performance ratio is absolutely not harmonious! They won't see us again!

Unfortunately I was very disappointed. We had breakfast there in a small group. Unfortunately, the price/performance isn't right here at all. The latte macchiato was quite small, the sparkling wine for breakfast was just a sip. The cold cuts and cheese didn't seem to be of very high quality. Cream cheese and butter were already sitting on the table, unrefrigerated, in individual portions. The “slice of black bread” was packaged like pumpernickel, but since there were two slices in one package, they had to be divided. We didn't like the service either, the lady came to set the table after an hour, stood at the end of the table and had all the plates and the tier handed to her with outstretched arms and impatient finger movements. She interrupted the conversation three times while covering and always asked the same question whether everything was allowed, which was answered in the affirmative at the beginning. At the end there were still discussions because a drink wanted to be charged more than was consumed. Definitely we all agreed, once and never again.

The only nice thing is the location right on the lake. Unfortunately, this was the second time we were there and wanted a table. We stood at the entrance and no one paid attention to us, let alone greeted us. Then they left again. A pity!

Everything great. The atmosphere, service and food are top notch. Today we were admitted unannounced with 17 people because we were transferred from Cafe Vormstegen despite having a reservation. It was no problem for Kühl's to arrange everything at short notice. It was very cozy there and the food was delicious. Special requests were even fulfilled (lots of fried bacon, etc.). In retrospect, we are glad that it happened that way, as the food at Kühl's was much better and fresher than at Cafe Vormstegen and also cheaper. We would like to thank you for the great service and the delicious food. We would like to come again.

We were here for both dinner and breakfast and were completely satisfied every time! The service is A1 and the employees are super friendly and accommodating!! In fact, I ate the best fried egg here too :)

The food was okay so far, although the fried potatoes were much better last summer. What really annoyed me was that drinks are only available in size 0.4, so there are no small drinks. But I don't want to drink so much just because the landlord wants to generate sales. The price of the drinks then no longer bears any relation to the price of a lunch meal.
