König von Flandern in Augsburg

Vor etwa drei Wochen waren meine Freundin und ich im König von Flandern etwas trinken. Leider waren wir sehr enttäuscht. Zunächst wurden unsere Getränke falsch serviert. Die blonde Bedienung mit Tätowierungen zeigte wenig Interesse daran, den Fehler zu korrigieren. Als wir bezahlen wollten, mussten wir etwa 15–20 Minuten warten, da sie offenbar lieber mit ihrer Kollegin beschäftigt war. Nachdem wir erneut nach der Rechnung gefragt hatten, dauerte es nochmals rund 15 Minuten, bis sie gebracht wurde. Besonders unfreundlich empfanden wir, dass uns die Rechnung am Ende regelrecht hingeworfen wurde. Dabei war es am Nachmittag und es waren nur wenige Tische besetzt. Es ist daher nicht überraschend, dass die umliegenden Cafés und Bars deutlich besser besucht sind. Der Service war unhöflich und vermittelte den Eindruck, dass kein Interesse an den Gästen oder der Arbeit besteht. Wir werden nicht wiederkommen und können dieses Lokal leider nicht weiterempfehlen.

Kann man nur empfehlen. Bedienung sehr schnell. Essen schmeckt. Bekommst immer einen Tisch. Manchmal auch ohne Reservierung. Kann man nur weiterempfehlen.

Im ehemaligen Kino ist nun schon geraume Zeit eine eher einfache Gaststätte/Wirtshaus, eingerichtet mit interessanter Brauerei-Deko und historischen Augsburger Fotoabbildungen. Besteck/Servietten sowie Salz- und Pfefferstreuer stehen auf den einfachen, sauberen Holztischen. Bedienungen sind meist freundlich, wechseln aber immer wieder mal. Im Sommer gibt es einen Außenbereich (mit Bedienung) und drinnen u. a. einen gläsernen Erker und die obere Etage/Gallerie, von der man den unteren Gastraum überblicken kann. Deutsche Küche mit saisonalem Zusatzangebot - Speisenauswahl ist ok. Preise unterschiedlich. Es gibt durchgehend warme Küche und eine Happy Hour, bei der das schmackhafte Bier etwas günstiger ist. Essen war bislang immer in Ordnung und schmeckte uns bisher immer gut: Gerne essen wir auch mal "Schnitzel", "Gröstl" (saisonal auch mal von der Ente), verschiedene "Töpfle mit Brot" oder die sehr sättigenden "Kässpätzle mit Röstzwiebeln". Schade, dass es kein gebackenes Rotbarschfilet mehr gibt. - Stattdessen gibt es ein anderes Fischgericht. Besonderheit, die nicht unerwähnt bleiben sollte: Toiletten befinden sich im Keller (viele Treppen, kein Aufzug). Seit einem Wasserschaden roch es dort unten leider muffig, obwohl wohl regelmäßig geputzt wird. Inhalt der Seifenspender im dortigen Gemeinschaftswaschbereich ist oft sehr flüssig und wirkt wie mit Wasser gestreckt, was künftig verbessert werden sollte.

Ich bestellte ein kleines Schnitzel, das gut, aber nicht umwerfend war. Die Bedienungen waren sehr freundlich.

Das Essen war leider ungenießbar. Fleisch und Knödel haben nach nichts geschmeckt, das Blaukraut nur nach Alkohol. Die Kellner waren unfreundlich und ließen uns unser Essen selbst reintragen. Das Ambiente ist schön.

Na ja, wenn man am Moritzplatz den Trubel beobachten will, ist diese Location gut. Die Preise sind schon etwas überzogen! Aber ist halt Innenstadt! Kann man, muss man aber nicht!

Das Essen ist schmackofatz und das Bier legendäre

Absolut köstlich, sehr typisch bayerisch, das Biergulasch war ausgezeichnet, ebenso wie der Strudel.

Tolles Brauhaus in einem alten Kino. Das Personal ist auch sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen und das Bier sind auch zu empfehlen.

Urigen Ambiente, klassischer Brauhausstil, umfangreiche Karte, deftige Gerichte, große Auswahl an Bierspezialitäten, zentrale Lage in der Innenstadt, freundliches Personal, zügige Bedienung.

Ein sehr angenehmes Erlebnis. Die Bedienung bemühte sich, mich zu verstehen, obwohl ich kein Deutsch spreche, und gab mir zwei gute Empfehlungen für Speisen und Getränke. Ich würde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen, um die deutsche Wirtshausküche zu genießen.

Typisch deutsche Küche im besten Sinne, mit köstlichen Aromen. Auch die Biere vom Fass sind tadellos. Der Service ist etwas unpersönlich.

Nettes Lokal vom Ambiete. Essen war okay aber nicht überragend. Aperol spritz schmeckt, Limoncello spritz überhaupt nicht. Bier schmeckt. Die selbstgemachten Limonaden sehen zwar nett aus, sind aber nichts besonderes und teilweise viel zu süß. Wir waren als große Gruppe dort und saßen oben. Es war sehr sehr laut. Auf den Toiletten fehlen Handtücher. Nur 1 Gebläsetrockner. Bedienung war unterschiedlich freundlich, von sehr bis gar nicht und alle waren leicht überfordert und wenig flexibel. Nicht gerade günstig. Gibt sicher schönere lokale in Augsburg.

Klassisches bayerisches Restaurant mit traditioneller und herzhafter Küche. Die Atmosphäre ist entspannt, aber nicht modern. Das Essen ist gut, eher Bier und Klassiker als etwas Neues.

Ausgezeichnetes Restaurant – ein bayerischer Freund hatte es mir empfohlen, als er von meinem Besuch in Augsburg hörte. Freundlicher Service. Sehr gute regionale Küche. Und auch das hauseigene Bier war lecker. Ich bin froh, dass ich dort eingekehrt bin.

Das frische Grün am Bärlauchkässpätzle war Petersilie. Von Bärlauchgeschmack keine Spur. Auf eine freundliche Nachfrage beim Service hab ich nur gehört “Ist so. Schmeckt halt nicht wie zuhause”

Ein echt schöner Ort, mitten in Augsburg. Wir waren zu einer ruhigen Uhrzeit vor Ort . Nicht viel los, aber leider war der Service dennoch sehr rar. Man musste immer winken und sich bemerkbar machen. War als Gast sehr anstrengend. Mitarbeiter weitestgehend nett, aber bei Fragen wirkte es genervt und teils schnippisch. Könnte man dran arbeiten. Die vegane Auswahl war wenig, aber immerhin etwas da. Leider war die erste Wahl aus, aber der wirklich sehr leckere Kartoffelsalat war es wert 😋. Die veganen Schnitzel waren ok. Geht aber auch besser. Alles in allem ein netter Besuch, aber wenn wir mal wieder in Augsburg sind nicht unbedingt nochmal dort . Sorry 🙈

Schöne neue Örtlichkeit für den König Flandern

Service heute war einfach schlimm wenn Frau B.. bringt Getränke und ich wollte gleich bestellen unsere Essen dann bekomme ich das ich bin noch nicht dran zum bestellen und muss einfach warten. Bis gnädige Frau weitere Getränke macht Bin seit Jahren in diese Restaurant aber ab heute nie wieder.

We recently visited the Kö v. Fl. Twice the experience was absolutely fantastic. The onion roast beef was divine. Our server (the same one again) was also incredibly friendly, etc. We'll be back! 👍☺️

Two years ago was my first time eating at this restaurant, and I left a review. Today I returned and can confidently say it was one of the best meals I've ever had. Today we ordered Schwäbischer Zwiebelrostbraten, cooked medium-rare (perfect!), and Königliches Biergulasch (don't miss it!), and of course, we ordered house beer! A fantastic experience! Highly recommended!

A lovely, traditional restaurant serving German cuisine in Augsburg. The service was very friendly, and the chili-cheese spaetzle were delicious with a pleasant kick. The selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes is also quite extensive for a German restaurant. They even offer a vegan schnitzel.

Great service! The atmosphere is also lovely, and even when it's crowded, it's not too loud – excellent. The beer is delicious! The food doesn't live up to the usual standard! The bread dumplings tasted only of flour, and the pork knuckles were very dry and completely bland... The roast pork with crackling, on the other hand, was okay.

A nice, stylish restaurant in the center of Augsburg. Braukessel Restaurant. Despite its size, it's not too loud, even when full, thanks to the building's design. Typical Bavarian cuisine. The schnitzel was really good. Nice, friendly, and fast service.

The beer is excellent, and the food is always very good. They regularly offer seasonal dishes, which are also always well-prepared and incredibly delicious.

The food was good, and everything else was fine too. The service staff was absolutely top-notch. It just takes some getting used to for me, since it used to be one of the top cinemas in Augsburg, back when Cinemax and similar chains didn't exist yet.

We're currently sitting in the restaurant; there are two Christmas parties going on. The staff is very attentive and extremely friendly! Especially the young man at the "reception"! But also the waitress who speaks German, although you can tell she's from somewhere else. I wanted to try roasted barley malt, and I was given some to sample. The food and drinks are VERY good! The atmosphere is also very cozy! The service is exemplary, and everyone is in good spirits with a smile on their face!

Definitely the highlight of our Christmas weekend in Augsburg.

Seven of us went to the König von Flandern restaurant for dinner on the eve of the first Sunday of Advent. The receptionist was overwhelmed and rather unfriendly. The waitstaff, on the other hand, were very quick and friendly. Normal conversation was impossible. It was incredibly loud. The food was anything but good. It was mass-produced. We had schnitzel, sausage salad, etc. It was a shame we had to subject our Swiss guests to this, as they had been looking forward to delicious Bavarian cuisine. I can only say: Never again!

A truly fantastic lunch. Every bite was a delight! I'll definitely go there again on my next day trip... the menu has so much more to try.

If you're looking for good German food, this is the place to go. We made a reservation beforehand, which is especially recommended on weekends. Despite the restaurant being full, the staff were friendly and attentive.

I went there for lunch during the week, got a table right away, and received very friendly service. The food was excellent, and the dessert was divine. The restaurant is also visually stunning; it's a place where you'll truly enjoy lingering and indulging.

Super nice inn in the middle of Augsburg.

Excellent lunch menu at a reasonable price. We paid €10 with soup as a starter. Very good beer. And all this in the city center. Everything was excellent....

First of all: The food was truly delicious. BUT: The service was quite stressed and perhaps even snippy. The wait for the food to arrive was perfectly acceptable. My husband ordered "Der Bierkutscher" (cheese spaetzle with meatballs and beer sauce), and I ordered "Brau-Burschen Salat" (salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, and chicken breast strips). My salad had exactly three pieces of tomato and three slices of cucumber on it. I found that almost outrageous. The dressing, on the other hand, was top-notch. "Der Bierkutscher" says: "Really filling" (quote!) The food arrived, and our jaws almost dropped... if you call it "really filling," I don't know. My husband ordered it because he was really hungry. The food was beautifully presented in a small cast-iron pan. After three forks of the cheese spaetzle, about half of it was already gone. The two meatballs were also quite small. If that sentence "Really filling" hadn't been included, it wouldn't have been so bad. That sentence really should be reconsidered...

Absolutely disappointing! Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the food at all. The dumplings and sauces were clearly convenience foods. And there was so little of it that you left hungry. The whole thing wasn't worthy of Bavarian food... The staff could be friendlier... The restrooms are terrible. No service is provided in the beer garden, even though it's open. What a shame about the beautiful location.

I remember the restaurant from its old location. It felt very comfortable there, and the food was excellent! However, here at the new location, we were very disappointed. The food didn't taste nearly as good as it used to. More bland than hearty. One of the dumplings wasn't even cooked, but raw. When we asked, they rolled their eyes and brought us a plain dumpling in a bowl. It was cooked through, but cold. The sauce served was far too small for our taste, and it actually tasted of nothing. They skimped on the crust on the roast... a real shame. The cheese spaetzle were more creamy than cheesy and nothing special either. Regarding the service: the lady was very friendly and pleasant, but her colleague seemed a bit listless. Atmosphere: Rather uncomfortable under the high roof and very loud as it got busier. We were also seated between two tables, even though there were plenty of seats. Conclusion: Unfortunately, it has lost its charm and its excellent cuisine. We won't be coming back. Furthermore, the restrooms weren't very clean, and one door wouldn't even lock anymore.

The food was delicious. The staff was mostly very friendly. They were stressed out, but still quite nice. Most of the restrooms were broken (only one of the women's urinals worked. Two of the men's urinals were broken. Long waits for the restrooms. Only the right-hand hand dryer worked, so it was still a good start.)

The best spaetzle we've ever eaten. Authentic German cuisine. The home-brewed beer is a particular highlight! We were served by Larissa, who was super friendly and attentive. An all-around fantastic package. Highly recommended!

Great location but service is a bit strained and slow on busy days... a shame, but understandable.

Sitting outside in the beautiful weather, I treated myself to a delicious beer-drinking platter. At first, I thought, "Wow, that's a small pan," but it was quite filling for me, even though I'm 1.80m and weigh 90kg. The flies were a bit annoying, but that's not the restaurant's fault. I'm completely satisfied.

The staff was very inattentive. The food sat around at the serving counter for a very long time, so it was served cold. The staff ignored the complaint. A real shame.

Today, there was a mixed platter of meat dishes – all cold from the start, and the "abundant" sauerkraut was rather sparse. The rest of the food (schnitzel and burger) was quite expensive for the quantity – even considering the restaurant's location. The burger patty was still raw in places. The waitresses, however, were very friendly and the service was quick.

I've been there for the first time in a long time and only had fond memories from the past. The service was very stressed and therefore somewhat unfriendly. The table wasn't clean and was placed very crooked outside. The food was unfortunately a disappointment; 3 out of 4 dishes weren't tasty, and the quality of the produce was poor. The worst was the onion roast beef; instead of medium, it was shoe sole, and the gravy was more watery in consistency and color. When the wait staff asked how it tasted and we answered honestly, they dismissed it with a "sorry," and that was it. Unfortunately, I absolutely can't recommend it like I used to!

Never had such tough and dry spare ribs before. The majority of the plate consisted of cheap fries. Simply bad and unloving.

A welcoming and pleasant restaurant in the center of Augsburg. You can get there on foot or by public transport. It's easy to find a table, depending on the day and time of year. Typical Bavarian cuisine, good beer, and average prices.

Very nice forecourt with a view of the main street. The non-alcoholic beer only got a 5 out of 10.

Atmosphere (upstairs): It seemed to me as if they couldn't decide between a classic rustic or modern style. They had modern lighting, but the rest was classic, like an old farmhouse. Service: I think the server didn't like her job. She seemed exhausted and annoyed. Food: It was okay, but the portions were too small for the price. Unfortunately, the charm of yesteryear is gone. They also no longer serve the homemade beer bread as a starter, which was the main reason we came back (nostalgia). Upstairs was incredibly stuffy and hot.

There were eight of us here as participants in a training course. Completely spontaneous and without a reservation, and it worked out. A former cinema (Capitol Lichtspiele), which has been very tastefully converted into a restaurant. Including its own brewery. Great food, great service (thanks to the tattooed young lady!!). Everyone was more than satisfied with their food and drinks. Since we're in Augsburg several times a year, we'll definitely be stopping by here more often!

Neat decor and very clean premises. A few years ago, it was a movie theater; you can see the boxes inside. The terrace is very pleasant. Good prices.

Outdoor dining is very nice. Like a beer garden

Located directly between Ulrichsplatz and Maximilianstrasse. A fantastic old town setting; we sat outside, right on the main pedestrian street. A lively, multicultural atmosphere prevailed, but it wasn't disruptive or loud. Despite being understaffed and the tables being full, there was hardly any wait; the food and drinks arrived promptly and at the perfect temperature. The cuisine itself is upscale, featuring traditional Bavarian/Swabian dishes as well as more common German comfort food. The prices are reasonable, even though the restaurant is located directly on Maximilianstrasse and is well-known! Highly recommended!

GET THE CHILI-CHEESE SPÄTZLE! Don't question it, just do it!

I had a schnitzel – superb quality, really juicy and well-seasoned 🥩🔥 The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, just the way they should be 🍟😋 The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive; I felt right at home 😊👍 I'll definitely be back.

Outrageous and brazen rip-off artists! I went to this restaurant with my girlfriend's family on July 11, 2025, at 7:00 PM. Because her father always pays for everyone, and I didn't want that, I pre-ordered and paid for my girlfriend and myself while her family was still on their way. (We arrived early.) It cost about €45, which I rounded up to €50, and I asked that the food be brought out together with the rest of the family. When everyone had finished eating, the same waiter charged all five of us, but my girlfriend's father didn't know I had already paid for the two of us. He paid again for everyone and even left a tip of at least €15. When I confronted the waiter about it afterward, he blatantly lied and claimed I hadn't paid. That was about €20 in tips in total. Why should I have pre-ordered if the others weren't there yet? I know for certain that I paid because I withdrew cash specifically for that purpose and didn't have it in my wallet afterward. I wasn't offered a receipt, and I didn't ask for one. That was my mistake. Mistakes happen, but to react like that and completely refuse is truly outrageous. The waiter (tall, older, dark-haired with an accent) thus enriched himself by €70. I'll never come back and I won't recommend it to anyone! I never usually take this much time to write a negative review, but I just had to get this off my chest!

For lunch I had a baked potato with sour cream and chicken strips, plus extra coleslaw. The baked potato was good, the sour cream (almost certainly store-bought) was also okay. The chicken was a bit dry but tasted good. It came with a slightly dressed salad – not bad. Unfortunately, the coleslaw was the kind you can buy everywhere (the one with the small green bell pepper pieces), and it just doesn't taste that great... you could easily upgrade to homemade for €4.50.

An impromptu stop for dinner We were skeptical at first, given the enormous menu displayed outside, but were won over once we entered this authentic restaurant with its picturesque, local decor. All our dishes were tasty, well-seasoned, and the portions were more than generous. Fast service and good value for money.

The service and ambiance were beyond reproach. Unfortunately, my half knuckle of pork was very tough and dry. The crust had been covered in sauce, which meant it was no longer crispy. The bread dumplings were also very dry and quite small. The coleslaw was rather bland. One of the worst knuckles I've ever eaten, what a shame...

Quaint restaurant. We were there with 6-8 people without a reservation...we were initially met with some grumbling from the staff...but then we were seated and enjoyed a delicious meal and drink...however, over half the tables were still empty...so they could have avoided the reservation dilemma and simply welcomed us warmly... The food was good and served quickly. The drinks were excellent, especially the light beer...

Visited the King of Flanders again after a few years! A beautiful and clean restaurant with a rustic atmosphere. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The dishes were all delicious and very filling. Thanks to the service. We'll be happy to come back!

A great restaurant with a brewery atmosphere in a good downtown location. I had the roast pork with red cabbage and dumplings. Very tasty! Although I missed some of the crust and some of the meat was a bit tough. The home-brewed beer is a must-try. For dessert, we had ice cream with what I would call chocolate lava cake. It was incredibly good.
