Kokono in Ulm

We had this last year during our exchange in Paris, and our first time having Asian food after about 2 months in. It was amazing, not 100% authentic (curry was too sweet), but 100% delicious. We asked the staff for the recipe they said no lol.

Das Aroma der Speisen ist gut, die Bedienungen sind freundlich. Aber wenn auf der Speisekarte steht „im Wok gebraten“, ist die Enttäuschung groß wenn die Krabben schlabberig sind und das Gemüse fast roh. Ich liess das Essen zurückgehen und erhielt das Gericht zum zweiten Mal, wieder schlabberig und roh, die Zutaten haben den Wok nicht ‘mal von Weitem gesehen.

The food is really delicious. Good portions for the price. It is advisable to take cash with you if you only want to have a main course and a drink, as you can only pay with card from €25.

The food and ambience were good as always, but this time the service was extremely unfriendly. Well-done duck was ordered. Pink roasted duck was then brought. After the waitress was nicely made aware of it, she took it away without saying anything. Then it warmed up again but still didn't come back through. We let it go back. Last time it came back even warmer, it was now tough, the surface was dried out and the pieces of meat inside were still not cooked through. The waitress then started discussing with us: That's how you would eat duck. Sorry, but why are you being asked? Some people can only eat their food in certain ways. Most of the duck meat was left over and ended up in the trash. Actually, the food and service at Kokono is always good. But we won't come back. We all left with a very bad feeling and some were still hungry. That wasn't worth the money.

Everything was top notch. Prices are normal. Sushi is delicious. Ambiance also good. Service very quick and friendly. But you should definitely make a reservation on the weekend as it is always full.

It was a great experience at Kokono Ulm. Service was friendly and accommodating, the sushi and dessert came incredibly quickly, even though every seat in the restaurant was full! We were completely satisfied and would be happy to come back.

Be careful: almost all vegetarian dishes contain fish sauce and are therefore not vegetarian in my opinion. The additives are not shown on the menu and must be requested separately. The tofu salad, which has no animal additives declared, is also not vegan. Vegan dishes ordered (3 possible in total) were still served with fish sauce. If I were allergic to it, it could have ended very badly... As a vegan, it would be an absolute mistake. The meat and fish eaters were happy with the taste. The service was difficult to reach, although this was probably due to the absolutely full restaurant on a Saturday evening. She also just reached for my plate without saying anything to clear it and caught me with the plate. There was no query as to whether everything was OK. Drinks and food were overpriced for my taste. The condition of the sanitary facilities was very dirty for both men and women. Everything from vomit to feces and traces of toilet paper on the floor was present.

WOW! This was my second time here, this time for lunch, after enjoying a wide selection of dishes from the menu here in January. And the food was just WOW! I don't know where something similar would be offered nearby. Our waiter was extremely attentive and made you feel very welcome. Absolute recommendation!

We had dinner with the family last weekend. When the food came, we immediately noticed a strange and not exactly small bug in the soy sauce on the plate. Of course we reported this straight away and the service staff were visibly shocked and disgusted. Understandably, we lost our appetite. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn't even accommodate us in any way.

Location great, really cool, service impeccable, very nice and attentive, orders came to the table extremely quickly. Unfortunately my Caipirinha was a dip in the toilet, visually nice... that's about it. Complaints were politely accepted... but that was it 🤷‍♂️ Starter, main course... top👍👌

Comimos aquí mientras nos alojamos en un hotel cercano. Estábamos pasando la noche durante nuestro viaje de Croacia a Rotterdam. Llegamos a las 8: 55 pm. Domingo por la noche. A la llegada nos dijeron que teníamos 5 minutos para ordenar antes de que la cocina cierre. Pedimos apresuradamente nuestra comida. La comida llegó después de 5 minutos, así que obviamente estaba precocinado. Apenas habíamos terminado nuestra comida cuando el camarero vino y nos dijo que necesitábamos pagar nuestra cuenta cuando el restaurante estaba a punto de cerrar. Hablar de “comida rápida” - La comida en sí no era mala. Para lo que teníamos era muy caro.

As always, I ordered a Pho. But what's wrong with vegetables? It's visibly rotten, it's like it's been in the fridge for 10 days. I would have only eaten pho. And when I pay, I tell the waiter. He says: You should say directly to me before you eat this. No idea. As always, I give 10% tip.

The waitress , with short hair unfriendly, rushing like a hell ! She rushing us to choose our food , which is we just sit on for 5 minutes and still need to understand the menu, no smiling, like the other waitress they friendly and put smile on it , the way she watching me and my husband like really unfriendly. My husband won’t complain but I did tell her nicely “you beautiful, but you will look more beautiful when you put smile on your face” She just smile after than . Food was ok , princely. For coming back ? I don’t think so .

Unfortunately it was very loud and hectic in the restaurant. The food didn't convince us. The service was unfriendly. A “thank you” and “goodbye” is probably asking too much here…

First you have to wait in line for a long time despite having a reservation, then you can only stay for about 1:40 hours and the quality now leaves a lot to be desired given the price. We ate at Kokono Ulm today and had already made a reservation a week in advance due to Valentine's Day. Our time slot was from 6:20 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. At first we thought that there might be little time to eat, but if you don't eat everything, there is enough time. The ambience was nice. Starters: My chicken stuffed dumplings were delicious and I would rate them 4/5. The popcorn shrimp with special chili mayo that my husband ordered was okay. However, we expected something different from the chili mayo in terms of taste - it was more reminiscent of Miracle Whip with chili flakes. Hence a 3.5/5. Main courses: Unfortunately we didn't like the main courses at all, so we returned the plate when it was ¾ full. Service & Atmosphere: The waitresses were very friendly and accommodating. When we honestly said that we didn't like it, we were simply offered to pack the food. Overall, the Kokomo Ulm gives us the impression of “more appearance than reality”, which is why we were unfortunately not convinced.

I called them and said, “I would like to cancel my reservation at 20:30.” The answer I got: “No table, sorry.” I called again and asked to speak to someone who speaks English because I wanted to cancel my reservation at 20:30. The answer I got: “We have no table.” It would be nice, in this modern world, to have someone on the phone who speaks English. Thank you.

I was there on Sunday February 3rd, 2025 and had popcorn shrimp and duck with coconut sauce. The price seemed too high for the quality of the dishes. After an hour, my body explosively got rid of the food with cramps. To be on the safe side, reach the bile several times.

This was our first visit to this place, the menu wasn’t clear for us since we are not very familiar with the Asian cuisine, we had some doubts about the items mentioned in the menu and wanted some clarifications from the waiter, but to our surprise they were absolutely insensitive to our request and very rude telling that didn’t have time to clarify, they had to serve other guests and just walked away. This happened not once but thrice. We wanted to speak to the manager but even she couldn’t seem to understand the problem. We were so upset with this treatment that we paid and walked out without even ordering the main course or dessert. Never again want to visit this place with no hospitality or no clue how to treat customers in a service industry. PS: I normally never write negative reviews, as I’m very fond of food & restaurant business and most of the times look for the good in it. But this one hit the nerve badly.

The sushi is very tasty and beautifully prepared. Great service and you feel very comfortable in the restaurant. You can't complain about the price performance at all. The drinks are nice and cool and taste great. Remnants that have not been made could also be packed and consumed at home. We'd love to come back.

There's nothing on the menu saying that the salmon has any sweet topping, but that pineapple also makes the dish inedibly sweet. Ginger tea sweetened with honey without asking.

Unfortunately we received very bad advice, we specifically asked for something that didn't have avocado in it - but unfortunately the waiter then offered something with salmon, which is what we ordered. Unfortunately, it turned out that there was also a lot of avocado there. Therefore it was the first and last visit. Ambience is nice though.

I have been here on several occasions and every time was really nice. The staff is attentive, the food good in taste and arrangement. It’s pricey, some dishes even overpriced but it’s the whole package you get when dining here. It’s more of a instagrammable place tho

I will probably never be able to judge whether the vegetables, especially the broccoli and the pumpkin, always taste so crunchy. Also whether the duck offered as crispy always comes across as uncrispy and fatty. Maybe a slip-up. I don't know it. The wine prices are definitely particularly high.

… neugestalteten Ulmer Bahnhofs-Einkaufsviertel. Gut mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel, aber auch mit dem Auto (Tiefgarage im Gebäudekomplex) erreichbar. Wir waren überrascht von der Qualität, dem schnellen und guten Service der vielen asiatischen Mitarbeiter. Wir hatten Sushi-Menü, rosa gebratene Ente, Rindfleisch-Nudelsuppe vietnamesischer Art und für die Kids die üblichen Chicken Nuggets (aber nicht aus dem Tiefkühler) und die in der modernen Gastronomie üblichen Süßkartoffelpommes. Auch das Dessert konnte was. Auch wenn die grüne Lebensmittelfarbe nix in einer Crème brûlee zu suchen hat (die Kinder mussten überredet werden es zu probieren!). Preise gehoben, aber dafür auch etwas Show mit nem Becher Trockeneis und alles schön dekoriert. Ambiente der Lage und den Preisen angemessen hochwertig! Das Geburtstagskind hatte Spaß an Cocktail und Geburtstagssng über Lautsprecher Wir kommen wieder.

The best sushi restaurant nearby. Not just from the ambience but from the taste to the service TOP. Have been there a few times now and were very impressed. I think the price/performance is completely okay considering the quality. Had the plate for 5-6 people. Just WOW! As a starter we had the Vietnamese spring rolls, which were also very tasty. I really liked it! Everything was presented very beautifully and attractively. My salad was very tasty and filling. With pleasure, we will go again, with my daughter. My husband was not impressed. Asian cuisine is underestimated by him. I recommend!

There were three of us and the food was served at completely different times, which is not possible in a restaurant - after all, you want to eat and enjoy with friends. Although the food was good and the service was very friendly, it was disappointing that the dishes were only served lukewarm. It was also annoying that the entrance door was constantly open, so we had to freeze at times.

Leider war meine gestrige Bestellung bei Konoko enttäuschend. Ich habe telefonisch Karaage-Sushi mit Avocado anstelle von Gurke bestellt, was mehrfach bestätigt wurde. Trotzdem war die Bestellung falsch – weder Avocado noch Gurke waren enthalten, stattdessen war das Sushi voll mit Mango, was es viel zu süß und ungenießbar machte. Als Entschädigung wurde uns lediglich eine zusätzliche Portion angeboten, da die Bestellung “bereits gemacht” war – ein Umgang, den ich als Stammkunde und Gastronom unprofessionell finde. Wenn man für Sonderwünsche einen Aufpreis zahlt, erwarte ich, dass der Auftrag korrekt ausgeführt wird. Ich wünsche mir, dass das Personal besser geschult wird, vor allem am Telefon, um Missverständnisse zu vermeiden. Fehler sollten zudem ernsthaft korrigiert werden – gerade bei zahlenden Kunden. Bisher war ich immer zufrieden, aber diese Erfahrung war enttäuschend.

We like to be here often, the only thing that's annoying is that sometimes it takes a really long time to get something to eat. By the way, reservations are also highly recommended. Otherwise, a thoroughly beautiful and, above all, delicious restaurant.

Unfortunately we didn't get to eat... The ambience was quite appealing. According to their website, there is a business lunch until 3 p.m. Unfortunately we were denied this before 2 p.m. There was no explanation, normal working day, no holiday, no weekend. Even when I asked whether that was correct, there was no answer. And not even after showing your own homepage. There is also clearly a business lunch in front of the restaurant. We were at the restaurant for lunch at 12pm on a Monday 12/30/24. I ask for the lunch menu because the operator's website states that it is always valid, except on public holidays. See screenshot. According to the staff, the boss doesn't want to give out the lunch menu during the holidays! What a shame, despite repeated requests, we didn't get a lunch menu; the prices would have been much cheaper. This is absolutely not okay!

Very tasty food and fast service. We love the curry at Kokono. My wife has the one with tofu and I have the one with chicken or beef.

Asian creative cuisine. It's a high-end store, so you can't just go there... There were many different menu items and it was delicious. If only I could eat more easily, If you have a simpler dish, I thought it was even better.

Were here for lunch. Value for money is great! Condition was very fast and the atmosphere is really nice! Homemade lemonade is a bit steep in price, but still nicely presented.

Rapid service, very efficient. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated immediately with no problem on Christmas day. Food arrived so fast, we couldn't believe it. If you want sushi or curry, Kokono is the place where it is guaranteed to be tasty and beautiful. The products are fresh, the presentation is Instagrammable. And there is almost always a table without a reservation.

Sehr empfehlenswertes Restaurant mit sehr schöner Ambiente und sehr aufmerksamen und freundlichen Service. Ich hatte eine sehr leckere fein gewürzte Suppe mit Garnelen ( catch the Fish) und einer recht großen Platte mit Ente und viel Gemüse (ducky style) Der Reis hatte eine perfekte Konsistenz. Bio Limonade Ingwer Minze war seine 6,90 € wert

update: Ive been here so many times already. the food was decent but the service of one particular staff is quite bad - and it honestly kills the whole experience there's a lady in short hair that is not warm and friendly at all ( U can check others people review about her as well apparently)🥲 and its not my first time being treated like that. I was not even finished eating and she didnt even ask to take my plate. before when I paid and gave tip there's no thankyou at all. 😅the other staffs were fine only her.Its too bad because the sushi is quite good the salmon were very fresh & well prepared, the price is worth it, the ambience is quite fancy & cozy salmon fan ( no. h70) ; salmon with special sauce, with mango slices 8.7/10 M900 :8/10 Tempura Salmon mr bin pinneaple drink mocktails :9/10 so Refreshing! I forget the name but it consits of mint, pinnepaple, Maracuja, and lime my friend ordered wakame salad, grilled salmon, sushi maki - she said it was quite ok/ good

Had dinner with my girlfriend yesterday. Eating is okay, but today both of them just vomit and run to the toilet, food poisoning is really not nice. But food came very quickly, sushi was just normal, and the duck was lukewarm, as were the vegetables and sauce. Service was very quick, but you can tell that they just don't feel like it, right (it doesn't matter) proportions. Drinks (mai tai, zombie) really nice and tasty.

I came here spontaneously on Wednesday evening at 9 p.m. and had a very good curry served within a few minutes. The homemade lemonade with lots of fruit pieces was also very tasty. Overall, a pleasantly dark atmosphere that probably gets louder with more guests and very good food.

I didn't have much time because I had to get to the train. I immediately asked the waiter if Pho could be served quickly. He was very friendly and agreed. Soup came after a few minutes and I have to say: it was the best Pho I've ever eaten in Germany! Broth cooked for a long time and well seasoned, meat super tender, good noodles and lots of herbs - as a proper Pho should be!! Thank you very much, clear recommendation!

Lecker, aber auch teuer. Das Ambiente war sehr gut, das Trockeneis zur Show macht sich auch sehr gut. 7,90 für eine Limo, we ach selbst gemacht, finde ich doch etwas teuer, wenn einen das nicht stört, ist das Essen aber levker gewesen und schön angerichtet.

Excelentes calamares picantes y buen surf y césped. Muy bien equipado y lugar de moda. Una reserva no parece ser necesaria, ya que es un lugar grande. El único punto menor es que la comida llega casi instantáneamente.

Beautiful restaurant, lovely service and amazing food

I came here to have lunch with a friend and when the server brought the food to our table he spilled the pho soup on my jeans. While unfortunate, I understand that these things can happen. But they did not even apologize nor had the decency to treat us to a drink or dessert at the very least. They even expected us to tip and we were frowned upon for not doing so :((

I was there once and as a group we received attentive service and good, recommended food as well as good drinks, although mostly from glasses without a calibration mark. Unfortunately we sat at a table right next to the open, very loud kitchen. My clothes were then soaked with the typical kitchen smell.

In questo raffinato angolo di cucina giapponese, il sushi si distingue per la qualità eccellente del pesce. Ogni boccone riflette freschezza e una cura maniacale nella selezione degli ingredienti, con tagli precisi che esaltano la naturale delicatezza dei sapori marini. Il tonno è burroso, il salmone si scioglie in bocca e il branzino offre una texture sorprendentemente raffinata. I prezzi, è vero, sono sopra la media, ma l’esperienza culinaria giustifica l’investimento: qui non si viene per un pasto qualunque, ma per concedersi un’autentica esperienza gourmet. Si mangia davvero bene, e per gli amanti del sushi di alto livello, il costo è pienamente compensato dalla qualità.
