Koko Sushi in Erfurt

The sushi was delicious, but the large "ship" for four people on the menu unfortunately only consisted of a few platters. Also, the service could have been friendlier. We had made a reservation, but when we arrived, no one seemed to know about it, and luckily we were still able to get a table.

Based on the reviews, we were looking forward to visiting this restaurant. However, the staff there refused to acknowledge the restaurant's inclusion in the Schlemmerblock discount booklet, or rather, they offered us a discount that didn't match the description. The sushi was okay. My hot dish, however, was only lukewarm, and the sauce tasted strongly of MSG and flour. Since we weren't impressed with either the service or the food, we won't be returning.

On October 24, 2025, I placed a large order (for 6 people) at Koko Sushi for pickup. I noticed that the prices on the website were outdated. At the restaurant, I was shown the new price list (which was more expensive). Comment: This has only been the case recently. After unpacking the order at home, I discovered that the usual accompaniments like ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce were missing. I pointed out the missing items – "We're sorry." But with a distance of 20 km, a delivery wasn't an option. "The boss will call you tomorrow." Probably just forgot... The quality was okay.

Yesterday, four of us spontaneously visited this sushi restaurant for the first time around 1 p.m. We were greeted warmly and shown to a table in the back. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the sushi itself was incredibly delicious and beautifully presented! Unfortunately, I got "regular" sushi instead of fried sushi, and the bill had to be adjusted twice because something was wrong. Nevertheless, we'll gladly come back, because the taste was truly top-notch!

There were small flies in the soy sauce – that really shouldn't happen. We also had to wait a very long time for our food, even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. After the long wait, we also received the wrong dishes, and something was missing. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with the visit.

I went to Koko Sushi with my family for the first time on Wednesday – and we were absolutely thrilled! The staff was super friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was incredibly delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. You can tell they put a lot of effort into it. 😊 We'll definitely be back – I highly recommend it to anyone who loves sushi! 🍣✨

The sushi selection is huge, with something for every sushi fan, and even our veggie friends have a huge selection. The running sushi is highly sought after, so you should make a reservation or arrive before 5:30 p.m.

Delicious, good sushi. You can sit at the counter—the sushi waiters will drive past you—or you can order from the menu. Good value for money.

I went to Koko Sushi for the first time in a while thanks to the Schlemmerblock. The sushi itself was truly excellent—super delicious. Unfortunately, we had to return the soy sauce twice because there were small flies in it. They also forgot a few things: the edamame was unsalted, a portion of sushi was missing, and neither ginger nor wasabi was served. Unfortunately, the service was not up to scratch again, so we ate it as is.

The sushi was okay, although the platters weren't great value for money. The service was poor last night. There were three of us, and we only received two chopsticks, two plates, and no soy sauce. We had to ask for everything separately. Drinks were forgotten at the neighboring table, and the wait times were also very long. They advertise a 10 percent discount for joining the WhatsApp channel, but this discount is only available under certain conditions.

The sushi tastes wonderful. But unfortunately, the service is completely dismal. My bill was almost €40, which is quite high for the size of the dishes. Worst of all, the €7.90 gunkan inari I ordered wasn't delivered. Instead, I got nigiri shotu for much less. I called to report the incorrect delivery. They just told me that the gunkan inari were the two pieces of rice with the snow peas. It's a shame, I was ripped off for almost €8, and I even left a tip. The restaurant was completely unaccommodating.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, it has declined considerably. I was there a few years ago; everything was great and very unusual. We were in Erfurt again recently and took something home. After about an hour at home, we noticed that a dish worth €17 was missing. It was my fault, too, for not checking again. Still, something like that shouldn't happen. The taste of what we had didn't appeal to me either. While we were waiting for our food, I also visited the restrooms. It could be cleaner there. All in all, as I said, it was great 3 or 4 years ago, and now I'm honestly disappointed. I paid over €50, ended up getting food for just over €30, and the taste wasn't convincing either. We won't be going back, because you can get the same quality at any sushi restaurant these days.

We often visit Erfurt and this was our first time here, and we'll let you know in advance: It won't be our last! Everything was great from start to finish 👍🏻 We'll definitely be back 👌🏻👌🏻❤️

The food was okay. We didn't actually have sushi, but rather the rice dishes, so our experience is based on those. I would suggest only going here if you want to use the sushi delivery service.

Unfortunately, Koko Sushi is no longer what it used to be. Until a year ago, they offered very unusual and unique sushi creations that were simply top-notch and exceptional. Now it's just mediocre. A real shame. Unfortunately, new brooms don't sweep well!! Service has also suffered. The shuttles on the conveyor belt aren't regularly restocked. The menu is dirty, falling apart, and stained. They used to have small wooden boards. Can't recommend it anymore!

Unfortunately, we waited 45 minutes and still didn't get a drink, and the restaurant wasn't even full... Very disappointed! Despite repeated requests, nothing changed. What a shame.

This was my first time in Erfurt and I can only recommend this restaurant. There's something for everyone, and the food is delicious. The sushi is varied.

The sushi is beautifully presented, and the entire space appears clean and tidy. The avocado sushi, a perfect combination of salmon and avocado, tastes creamy and fresh from the salmon. Highly recommended! The presentation of the dishes is also excellent.

It was supposed to be a quick evening snack. I arrived hungry at a nearly empty restaurant, and waited 45 minutes for a couple of sushi rolls... There are many better places in Erfurt with tastier food. Never again!

We had lunch and there is a limited selection of food for lunch with a 3 Euro reduction. Service was fast and very friendly.

Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. Due to language barriers among the staff, we were initially served the wrong drinks. This in itself isn't a big problem, but we then had to wait a very long time for the correct ones. The same problem occurred with the food. We sat at the conveyor belt and had also ordered beef from the kitchen. After about 35 minutes, however, we received fried shrimp. These were delivered squashed in a Chinese box, which unfortunately gave the impression of a ready-made product – as we all know, eating isn't a visual experience, but in this case, it's better not to. Overall, the experience was disappointing. In my opinion, the quality of the food had already suffered before the renovation. It's a shame, because we had hoped to give the restaurant a second chance.

There was a change of operator here and it is sometimes very difficult to communicate if you have questions because it is now in Vietnamese hands. The special flair that it once had, including a nice conversation with the sushi master, is no longer there. The quality is ok. But it's no longer the special thing that made this restaurant special. Unfortunately, our favorite sushi is no longer available. There are plenty of Vietnamese sushi restaurants in every major city in the Dresden / Leipzig area, so it's no longer worth the drive here. We wish you all the best!

A truly beautiful sushi restaurant. Here you feel comfortable and full. The food is simply a step towards heaven for every palate. The ambience is simply amazing, the murals are very beautiful and a river of boats with sushi to eat on them is simply an eye-catcher. I can definitely recommend a visit without a guilty conscience on my list of restaurants where I like to eat. Greetings Daniel

It couldn't be more unfriendly Ordered sushi well in advance for 40 euros. Shortly before delivery I get a call telling me to pay another 5 euros for the delivery. Which I find quite cheeky since it wasn't specified! Then he calls again and I have to pay 12 euros in cash, of course impossible! It wasn't my fault and instead of being accommodating they insist on first 5 and then 12 euros. Now I'm standing here with my baby and no lunch.

We have had the pleasure of eating at Koko Sushi several times and we absolutely love it! The atmosphere is modern and inviting, perfect for a relaxed dinner. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating - you immediately feel welcome. The highlight was of course the food: the sushi rolls, but also the Japanese curry, were fresh, tasted excellent and were creatively combined. The quality of the ingredients was also top - you can tell that the cooking here is done with a lot of love and passion. We will definitely come back and can highly recommend Koko!

If you want to spoil your evening - you've come to the right place. We reserved a table in advance for February 14th, ordered drinks and food. The drinks came immediately, but we waited almost two hours for the food - in vain! When we asked why it was taking so long and when our food would finally arrive, the waiter just shrugged his shoulders and said, “Wait another 15 minutes.”

Nobody can really ruin Valentine's Day this way. You reserve a table only to show up at 8pm, sit for 1 hour and 45 minutes and leave hungry with no food! A scandal! You had to wait half an hour for a beer and then ask. Thank you for a completely ruined day. I can't recommend it to anyone!

Wir waren heute seit längerer Zeit mal wieder hier Sushi essen. Die Sushis waren alle durchweg sehr sehr lecker und es gab auf den vorbei schwimmenden Booten eine tolle Auswahl an unterschiedlichsten Sushis. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und auch der Sushi Meister, der die Sushis frisch vor unseren Augen zubereitet hat, hat immer wieder nachgefragt, ob es uns schmeckt oder ob wir noch einen Wunsch haben. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Unfortunately a failure. The two of us spent a good 100 euros on sushi, which looked great but was very tasteless. There was no wasabi or ginger with it. We were the only guests in the restaurant and had to wait 45 minutes for our food. Several ingredients were out, so we had to change our order. I would have liked to have known that before making a choice. We were literally rushed to order food. The waitress stood at the table three times to ask whether we had already chosen. After we had already emptied our drinks, the food arrived but after that there was no waitress in sight to order another drink. However, the lady was friendly. The toilets were also very unpleasant, worn out and not really clean. Furthermore, it was very cold in the restaurant, I was literally freezing. The seats were uncomfortable and when I used my hands to stand up, a nail or something similar pierced my hand through the thin upholstery. Never again.

We have been there again for many years. We still remembered the counter with the “little boats” and the sushi chefs in the middle, with whom you could chat and sometimes order something unusual. The atmosphere was always good, but it was difficult to get a table. None of our memories are the same today. Table reservation on Wednesday evening for a Friday evening is possible without any problems... of course it's nice at first, but after visiting today I also know why. The atmosphere is boring and "sparse", the "bar" looks like it was built from the cheapest hardware store wood - which unfortunately really damages the whole thing and doesn't fit into a sushi bar at all. The beautiful, high-quality plates on which the food “traveled” on the ships (and can even still be found on the website) are now the cheapest plastic plates. The boats were also poorly stocked - bad in terms of variety and often half of the boats were empty... Unfortunately, the waitresses only understand German very poorly. Booking and ordering were very difficult - but the staff were always helpful and friendly. The food was nothing special, the card design was boring. And the composition was very poorly chosen. Always rolls of 8, even from the big ones. For €20 you order a plate with 8 rolls which fill you up very well. However, this means that the variance is 0. Unfortunately, it doesn't make any sense. There's not much left of the number 1 Sushsi restaurant in Erfurt - just the name. There are now similar-sounding restaurants that offer much more!

The food was great and the service was very nice. Unfortunately we had a voucher from 2021 that we wanted to redeem by the end of 2024. I was told on the phone that vouchers are “normally” valid for 3 years. The voucher was not accepted in the restaurant because there was a change of ownership in 2023. Even after much back and forth, there was no understanding that voucher liabilities, like all other liabilities, would be transferred to the new owner with the takeover in 2023 and must be settled. Very disappointing!

We always enjoyed going to Koko Sushi, but today we left there really annoyed... The menu is available as a QR code to scan and, if desired, also in paper form - the prices on it vary greatly. But it goes even further... There's one thing on the menu, but you're served something completely different. When asked, the answer was “Yes, the description on the menu was wrong”. However, the descriptions are the same for both menus. The service was so semi-friendly and didn't show up after we asked. We had to go to the front to pay. What's that supposed to mean?

Locates right in the center of Erfurt, authentic Japanese food, fresh and delicious. Beautiful and lovely restaurant space, friendly and polite staff. Highly recommended if you come to this beautiful city.

It's truly unfortunate to see a once popular restaurant fall into disrepair. About four weeks ago there was a secret change of operator, which was only noticed because vouchers were no longer accepted and the gourmet block was ignored. The service is so bad that one star would be too much. You wait forever to place an order and no one shows up. If you wave someone over after more than half an hour, it often takes another ten minutes for someone to show up. At the counter you can only look at empty bowls on the boats. After the supposed reopening, discounts were offered. On Friday everyone was able to pay for their own meal, but when I returned on Monday the waitress said that a split bill wasn't possible to give the discounts. When asked why it was possible on Friday, she simply replied that it wasn't possible today and that it was Monday. That didn't really clarify the situation. Meanwhile, there was a heated discussion with two other guests who wanted to redeem their voucher, which was only a few months old. They were only able to use their voucher after threats from a lawyer. Although I wanted to give the gourmet block restaurant another chance, they managed to lose us as customers forever. The voucher is completely refused even though it is the new one from 2025. No concessions were expected and the employees talked at once, which was not helped by the language barrier. We took our jackets and decided to go to another restaurant. Fortunately, there are now many good alternatives in Erfurt.
