KoHaKu in Halle (Saale)

Had food poisoning after my first & last visit to KoHaKu. If I could, I would give 0 stars.

Very very relaxed atmosphere. Food very tasty. Service very friendly. However, you wait a while before someone comes to the table. Very clean. Prices okay.

“The eye eats with you!” it is said and KOHAKU is certainly a place where it is particularly true. Beautiful decoration for cozy seating - and the food is just as appetizingly prepared.

There were four of us, everyone had different dishes, but everyone was more than satisfied! Super! Service was also very good and I also like the ambience and quietness of the restaurant, even though more than half of the tables were occupied. Please be sure to maintain this quality!

I paid €30 for a starter and a main course and you can expect something for that. My extra requests like no mushrooms and he slaps the mushrooms in me... or my beef was over-roasted harder than a stone so I didn't eat a single piece of it. Despite the operators' mistakes, they didn't offer me any compensation except for a small dessert. This was the first and last time I've been to Kohaku. The Viet Village across the street is much more open and super fair. If something doesn't suit you, they're open-minded and friendly and you get something for your money.

The KoHaKu is a family-run sushi and fusion restaurant of a very special kind. It has a long-standing tradition in Halle. There is a beautiful indoor & outdoor area surrounded by Japanese paintings, typical Asian lighting and fine dark wood. A nice ambience to feel good. The sushi menus are particularly impressive in terms of their appearance and taste. Some are particularly highlighted with dry ice. There are eight categories of sushi: Nigiri, Maki, Futo Maki, Insoide Out, Temaki, Sashimi, Breaded Rolls and Crunchy Rolls. But the other Vietnamese dishes with fresh herbs, spices and sophisticated sauces also give a characteristic, fresh taste. Good, healthy food, very tasty and fresh tea drinks & cocktails, friendly service and a nice, well-kept atmosphere make you want to linger and enjoy. It is one of my top favorites of Vietnamese/Japanese cuisine, hence 5 out of 5 stars

I was offered to sit at the corner but after some time I asked to change my table. There was a table available, but the waiter gave it to someone else. Later I said there was another table available, if possible please swap it. They told me to wait, they would swap. But later there was no response from them. Then I went and asked what the problem was. There's a table available, why don't you swap? Then someone said, I can't sit there, guests would come. If I want, I can sit outside. My question is, this table was not reserved at all and was still available when we finished our meal. I just want to say: I pay you, okay, you don't give me anything for free.

Probably the best Asian restaurant in Halle, but the quality of the food (we've been there several times now) varies. The stay is rounded off with a selection of Asian drinks. The transport of the food across the street to the added 'outside terrace' is also an aspect that caught our attention and we therefore always insist on an inside seat. What is surprising, however, is that on some days of the week it is not possible to pay by card and there is no invoicing.

Very tasty Japanese food, great ambience

The establishment looks pretty decent, so we thought that everything else would be the same. We were disappointed in the staff. They speak German very poorly. And instead of wine they brought us a glass of water with ice for 3 euros. Yes. Some of the staff stank of sweat, it's disgusting when you want to eat... And yes, all the staff in their “free time” stood at the bar and cracked sunflower seeds. This is very insulting to the client. As if this is not a decent establishment but a roadside eatery. Food and service are not worth THAT kind of money. Quite expensive for such horror

We came across the restaurant by chance, but it left a lasting impression. The ambience impresses with its impressive decoration, which creates a slightly exotic but above all cozy atmosphere. The varied menu also had many new dishes to offer for me as a passionate Asian gourmet. The food was great, the price was completely reasonable and the visit was rounded off by very pleasant service. If I come back to Halle, I'll eat there again.

Great, delicious food, good service and good ambience

Unfortunately, food was brought to the table in chipped plates. Care must be taken here. Otherwise great shop, food is delicious!

Table reserved and confirmed upon arrival: nothing reserved. Nice garden, good selection and food. But very slow and inattentive service. We waited a long time for the menu and more than an hour for our food. Nobody asks if you want something else to drink.

We went to the “KoHaKu” restaurant for the first time today and were thrilled by the ambience. We sat inside and it was very cozy and clean. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and always came to us with a smile. The waiting times for drinks and food were very short, but the quality of the food was very high. Absolutely recommended! 🥰

Nice place. Food good too. I can only complain because smoking is allowed in the garden and that's really unpleasant while eating.

The service is TOP 👍🏼 Very accommodating, friendly and non-intrusive staff who always have a smile. 🤗 Even though it was almost fully booked, the waiting times for drinks and food were perfect at 20 minutes. The food, perfectly coordinated in quantity and size. The recipes, “Sushi is Sushi”… No!!! Matched in the finest nuances with spices, salads, herbs and sauces.

The ambience caught our attention as we walked past. The atmosphere is very quiet (1:00 p.m.) so we were able to chat in a relaxed manner until the food came. After we ordered it took about 20 minutes for the food to arrive. The drinks arrived much earlier. Drinks and food were really very good. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely eat here again. The food in the picture was pasta with beef and seasonal vegetables with homemade sauce (70c).

The fanciest restaurant in town 😍

We had been given a voucher and wanted to redeem it today. After the visit I have to honestly say we should have done it much earlier. The food was great, delicious, delicious. We tried a lot of starters, sushi and main courses as well as delicious cocktails... our conclusion... we weren't here for the last time. Price/performance goes well with the fresh products. We think: highly recommended ... and best of all, the restaurant is open 7 days a week. PS: also great for ordering and picking up

It has already convinced me twice now...we had pre-ordered and that was a good gut feeling...very cozy, inviting terrace opposite the actual restaurant...the service staff are polite, friendly, fast...the ambience and the furnishings - a little oasis of well-being for the mind!!!...I went to Villa del Vino once after work in the week and once on the Saturday before the visit...both visits were really great...we'll definitely be back Your location will definitely always get a recommendation...keep it up

Very good food, great service and privacy is respected

Food great, but service is subpar. Drinks came after waiting at least half an hour AFTER the starters and then we were never asked again if anything else was wanted. They cleaned up around us and ignored us completely. Never again.

The staff apparently lacked motivation to serve us on this Monday evening. The food was ok but nothing more, served quite roughly and the sauces were quite over-seasoned. The ambience is also moderately inviting. All in all it was okay, for us it will remain a one-time visit. Best counterexample: Mimi!

We made a reservation as a precaution, although in this case (Saturday 5 p.m.) it wasn't necessary. We had a Japanese soup as a starter and it tasted great. For the main course, the two of us treated ourselves to the sushi platter for two, which was also a culinary delight and a visual eye-catcher. Our desserts (rice cake & flan) were also heavenly. The drinks menu is also very broad. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is decorated with a lot of love

Sushi was really good. The mochi eis was also nice. The matcha was okay, you could see lumps of matcha, which also happens when I make it at home, so I‘d expect a better matcha in a pub/restaurant, but the rest makes up for it. Staff is friendly and the decor is nice.

I was a guest for the third time, previously with friends, this time with family. Everything fits here. Friendly, attentive service, beautiful ambience, cleanliness, gourmet quality food, all dishes are freshly prepared and of high quality, beautifully prepared and a true taste experience. Prices for the food are reasonable for what is on offer, Prosecco and wine are a bit expensive, all in all we can recommend it and we will be happy to come back. You just feel comfortable in this great location!

Ich war bereits zum 3. Mal zu Gast, bisher mit Freunden, diesmal mit Familie. Hier passt alles. Freundlicher, aufmerksamer Service, schönes Ambiente, Sauberkeit, Essen Gourmetniveau, alle Speisen sind frisch zubereitet und von hoher Qualität, toll angerichtet und ein wahres Geschmackserlebnis. Preise der Speisen sind angemessen für das Gebotene, Prosecco und Wein etwas hochpreisig, alles in allem zu empfehlen und wir werden sehr gern wieder einkehren. Man fühlt sich einfach wohl in dieser tollen Location!

Great ambience and very tasty food, which is spectacularly prepared. The restaurant is cozy and decorated according to the theme. When the weather is nice, you can also sit on the large terrace.

Very good Asian food as well as sushi and Japanese specialties. Not exactly cheap but well affordable. Delicious cocktails and freshly prepared drinks. Definitely recommended!

It was my first time here and I was very impressed. Inside, the ambience fully matches what is on offer. This was very successful, as you can see from the pictures. There is also a large beer garden. Unfortunately, you get wet here when it rains because there are only umbrellas.

Very good Asian “fusion” cuisine with a Japanese focus. There are curries, sushi and kimchi and much more. a. m. Everything makes a fresh and appetizing impression. The service is friendly and fast, it's very pleasant to sit inside or under an awning on the street. It's easy to arrive at lunchtime, but you should make a reservation in the evening. A real enrichment for Kleine Ulrichstrasse.

Great Japanese restaurant with really good food. The ambience really impressed me. Unfortunately, the environment is not good in all directions. In one direction you look at an ugly graffiti wall. You could let a real artist do it. The garbage cans next to the restaurant could also be somewhere else. You don't want to sit in the corner, unfortunately the smell isn't that great.

KoHaKu is a Japanese restaurant that impresses with its traditional cuisine and cozy atmosphere. The food is freshly prepared and of high quality. The dishes are delicious and lovingly prepared. The staff is friendly and attentive, which makes the visit an all-round successful experience. Overall, KoHaKu is definitely worth a visit for anyone who loves Japanese food.

Reservation was not taken into account. A makeshift "table" was offered right next to the door, so within a few minutes the door came to the chair twice and there was constant unrest. We then left the restaurant frustrated. When we left the restaurant we noticed that other guests had also forgotten their reservations.

Have eaten there several times now. So far it has always tasted great. The selection of dishes that are not sushi is medium-sized (about 7 main courses that can be combined with a side dish of meat or tofu). I think the selection of sushi is a bit more diverse. The price is reasonable, but not for those on a budget. There are a few dishes that were called “luxury” and are more for splurges. The food is served quickly. The employees are always very nice. The atmosphere is cozy. The restaurant is always busy and therefore relatively lively. The outdoor area is also very inviting, but also narrow.

Delicious Japanese food in the middle of Halle. Service is a bit inattentive, but that doesn't detract much from the good selection of sushi and hot dishes. Somewhat watery sauces, but great taste. Dogs allowed.

The service is really competent & friendly. The whole restaurant is modern and chic. You can find many authentic objects that are used for decorative purposes (vases, lanterns, lettering, etc.). On the table there are, among other things, soy sauce, salt and chili flakes / “Sambal Oelek”. The dishes are beautifully prepared and taste very tasty. The price is reasonable and the selection is wide ranging from vegetarian to surf and turf. Clear recommendation

On a Friday evening it's not that easy to find a place on Große Ullrichstrasse. We decided to go in here at the spur of the moment because there was still a table available thanks to the heated outdoor seating area. And it was very worth it. The service is quick and very friendly and the food is just great. We had some of the best kimchi we had ever tasted, spicy and crunchy. Plus juicy prawns in a tempura coating. The steak at Surf&Turf was buttery tender, the vegetables were crunchy, and the salmon was perfectly fried. We were definitely not here for the last time.

We were there a few weeks ago with 4 people. Had reservations beforehand. We arrive and are left cold and told that a few places would become available soon and whether we would be patient. Even after 30 minutes nothing happened except that you stood your feet in your stomach. We asked the employees one last time what was going on and again no information could be given Only when we started to leave and were already on the street did an employee come after us and say she now had seats available. So we gave it another chance. We sat down at a place that hadn't even been cleared away and was actually intended for 6 people... And of course it happened as it had to. We ordered our drinks and were then asked to change tables again because this was a table for 6 people. So we changed tables and were allowed to order drinks again (We never got the first ones but we still had to pay for them in the end...) The rest of the service was like an assembly line After sitting for less than an hour we were outside again (nobody wanted to have a main course after dessert) The food is filled with seafood filled with seafood and guaranteed seafood as a side dish... Might be great for some but I hardly found anything edible here.. I ended up ordering fried noodles because there really weren't even those run-of-the-mill dishes like fried baked duck or something like that... Yes, we will definitely never go there again

Four of us ate there. Get a table outside without a reservation. Pleasant atmosphere, but a bit cramped for “bigger” or slightly “bullier” people. Next time we would probably reserve for inside. The service was very friendly and all the dishes came to the table almost at the same time. Everything was very attractively presented, tasted great and was cooked to perfection. Really really great! The price of the restaurant is a little higher, but still within reason for the quality you get. We would be happy to come back and recommend the restaurant 👍🏻
