Klinke in Berlin

Unfortunately, I can't share the positive impressions. It was freezing cold and uncomfortable in the restaurant; almost everyone was already wearing jackets. The portions were tiny and the food tasted incredibly bland. I was really disappointed. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all!

Excellent service, a warm and inviting atmosphere, and superb food. It's a great place to try a little bit of everything. The portions are fairly small, but the quality is definitely there for a reasonable price. The French waitress was fantastic; she took care of us throughout the entire meal. The rest of the staff were also very friendly and welcoming. A wonderful experience! I highly recommend it if you want to experience Berlin's culinary scene!

I've always had very delicious dinners here, but yesterday I also had a lovely brunch - I'll be dreaming about the pancakes for weeks to come!

We ate here today and unfortunately had a negative experience. The appetizer was really good: the soup with pancake strips and the sourdough bread were delicious – after the appetizer, we even thought: We'll definitely come back here. The main course (saddle of venison) was unfortunately a mixed bag. The meat wasn't cooked evenly – some parts were a lovely pink, while others were already quite well-done. We also found the portion rather small. For dessert, we had Kaiserschmarrn with plum compote and vanilla ice cream, as well as the Black Forest-style chocolate cake. The Kaiserschmarrn was really delicious, and the plums were great too. The chocolate cake, on the other hand, had a very strange texture and didn't impress us at all. We weren't alone in this, by the way – the next table didn't finish theirs either. The biggest problem for us, however, was the service. It was unfortunately very inattentive: we had to get their attention every single time we wanted to order something. A wine we ordered never arrived and we later cancelled it. We also had to ask for water and dessert separately. When we mentioned the chocolate cake, we were simply told that was "normal." No alternative or solution was offered. To make matters worse, a different waiter at the next table immediately offered an alternative or at least a complimentary espresso. Frankly, this was quite frustrating. As we were leaving the restaurant, we spoke briefly with the waiter from the next table, and he was very receptive to our feedback about the dessert and seemed very friendly. In conclusion: The food is sometimes really good, but the service leaves much to be desired. We definitely expected more professionalism and a greater focus on customer service.

There were four of us, three of whom were visiting the restaurant for the first time. We had made a reservation two weeks in advance. Upon arrival, we weren't immediately offered a table, so we went outside briefly. We were offered a complimentary drink while we waited, but unfortunately, even after 20-30 minutes had passed and we were already seated, it still hadn't arrived, so we declined it. Our aperitifs and water finally arrived after a long wait, just as our food was being served. We ordered the fish and chips, croquettes, fried chicken, meatballs, broccoli, cauliflower, potato pancakes, potato dumplings, and red cabbage. Overall, the food was bland. The red cabbage was truly awful. The presentation was poor, and the portions were not commensurate with the price. The staff tried their best but seemed a bit overwhelmed. We found the atmosphere unpleasant. The lighting was poor and was constantly being changed. Our window seat was cold and drafty. : ... Afterwards, we went to another local establishment to start the evening all over again.

Restaurant Klinke – I'm undecided. First off: The variety and quality of the food are excellent; I'd give it 4.5 to 5 stars. The portion sizes are rather modest. We were there as part of "Restaurant Week" – we had to choose a three-course menu in advance. Upon arrival, we were seated, and then nothing happened for 15 minutes. Then the waiter came and very politely apologized, explaining that there had been a mix-up and he still needed to ask about our appetizer – but that our aperitif had been pre-ordered. Yes, that's right, and it had been sitting at the bar for 10 minutes already. After another 5 minutes, the drinks finally arrived, somewhat melted... The place is quite loud; conversation is difficult if you don't want to compete with others. The decor/space may be trying to achieve an old-school/vintage charm, but we simply found it "old" and "unloved." A mix of cafeteria and run-down. One waitress was wearing a sweater from her second job/fan merch?

We visited as part of Restaurant Week. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. While we were served the included aperitif at the beginning, we then had to actively ask for the drinks menu. We waited over an hour for the main course, and our visit, including three courses, lasted about 3.5 hours – the wait times were truly unacceptably long. There was no vegetable side dish with the main course, and the portion of venison was so small that the waiter offered us an additional side dish afterward so we wouldn't leave hungry. We wonder why this wasn't included with the main course. The food was decent, but not outstanding. Overall, we felt it wasn't good value for money. While the ambiance is pleasant, there's a draft coming through the windows, and the smell from the kitchen permeates the dining room so much that we were completely enveloped in smoke.

Great service! Creative German cuisine!

The food was delicious and the person behind the bar was very nice. Unfortunately, we were left with a really bad feeling because after 90 minutes we were asked to leave the restaurant IMMEDIATELY due to a reservation afterward. We were then allowed to finish our half-full drinks in the rain outside the restaurant. I don't understand why you immediately tell us upon entry that the table is reserved for us at [time]. It just feels incredibly capitalist, and we felt quite unceremoniously kicked out.

The food was delicious, but the service was unfortunately extremely poor. This wasn't due to the staff, but rather understaffing. We ordered a three-course meal and had to wait ages for it; then half of it was missing, and we had to ask for our drinks five times, otherwise they wouldn't have arrived at all. It's a real shame, because the food itself was really good, but it made the experience completely unpleasant.

We dined at this restaurant during Restaurant Week and were thrilled. The delicious beef broth was a great start, followed by a perfectly pink-cooked saddle of venison. The homemade Kaiserschmarren for dessert was divine. The attentive service and delicious cocktails were also a highlight. We'll be back!

We were a couple and visited the restaurant as part of Berlin Restaurant Week, arriving when it wasn't very busy. The soup to start was generous, but unfortunately, it came with overcooked crepes and huge slices of celery, which wasn't to my liking. Furthermore, the soup didn't come with the bread that was listed in both the booking email and on the menu (when we asked, they denied that the bread was included). The main course (saddle of venison) arrived cold, was also overcooked, and tasted stale. I sent it back and was fortunately able to choose alternative dishes without any problems. These were considerably better, partly because they were actually hot. Unfortunately, I found a hair in the Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle). The Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake) for dessert was delicious. Overall, the experience was too chaotic and the food too questionable to warrant three or more stars. And: the windows must be drafty; it was really cold at the window tables.

We were there Saturday evening as part of Restaurant Week. First the positives: The service was very attentive but completely overwhelmed. Otherwise, it was a complete disaster: the food was cold, the wait times were endless, and the taste wasn't great either. Conclusion: If something like Restaurant Week overwhelms me, I shouldn't participate.

Food is great, very tasty although pricey for the portion sizes (espresso martini was terrible in my opinion though)… but as some other reviews say, the service was in my opinion and experience, such a let down. I think for the price you pay at this place, the service should match. In my experience with them, I’ve also had the service be terrible by phone: getting hung up on multiple times, for example, really unfriendly attitude on the phone while I was trying to visit this venue again. This is the type of service I would expect at a döner place. In my opinion, the service can either make or break an experience, regardless of how tasty the food is and after trying to go again, I will personally never revisit regardless of how good the food was, especially after they tried to remove this honest review.

I’ve been to Klinke several times and always enjoy it! The German tapas are super tasty. I especially like the Kaiserschmarrn, Königsberger Klopse, Ofenkäse and the cauliflower, but all the dishes are good. The staff is friendly and the location has a cozy, nice atmosphere. It can get a bit noisy and it's a bit pricey (~10 euros per tapas), but the food is definitely worth it.

Great place for food sharing of German cuisine. Food was delicious, service and atmosphere were great! We came in very hungry and tried out most of the dishes. We loved so many things on the menu - but mostly remember the curry wurst (had to order it twice), spätzle, and Berliner desert

We had a great experience here. The food was good and original: tapas size Germans classics like currywurst, kasespatzle and kaiserschmarren. The staff was friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the atmosphere and the neighbourhood. I would come back here again when visiting Berlin.

We visited the Klinke Restaurant and unfortunately, the first impression was really disappointing. The bartender Lukas was extremely unfriendly. He left us waiting outside for over 30 minutes without serving us or even acknowledging us. It truly felt like we weren’t welcome something I’ve never experienced in a restaurant before. Very unfortunate, because it immediately ruined the start of the evening. Luckily, the food completely turned things around. The kitchen was outstanding, everything was absolutely delicious, and we were really happy with the quality. Also, the other two people working in service did an excellent job – very attentive, friendly, and professional. Big compliments to them and to the kitchen! But Lukas sadly spoiled the beginning of our visit. He really doesn’t do his job well, and being treated so unfriendly at a restaurant of this standard should never happen.

One of the best restaurants in Berlin in my opinion! The food is excellent, the staff is friendly and cheerful. The selection of Berlin specialty dishes is varied and the dishes are delicious. I recommend it without hesitation!

was a bit disappointed - a classic case of a place that looks way better online than in real life. The ambience felt a bit cold, tables and menus kinda dirty and the service seemed chaotic. Everyone was super kind though!! The food was really nothing special. Bread was a bit dry, the cauliflower sweet potato dish wasn’t really seasoned. The Backhendl and Kartoffelpuffer were nice in terms of flavor and texture, but served too cold. We also waited quite long for the meat, came after we almost finished the other plates. The concept of German food in tapas style is a cool idea but think it needs perfection (pairing recommendations, better timing, …).

We went there with great expectation, but all in all it was a terrible experience. We ordered 2 main dishes and 2 sides. After 30 minutes only 1 side dish arrived (bread); after other 15 minutes, only one of the main dishes had arrived. We were sitting there confused and not knowing whether to start eating or not. Finally I asked about the remaining dishes and they told us, basically after one hour after we sat down and ordered that “we are out of that”. Then they were trying to make us order something else but we were very so annoyed and disappointed. The cherry on top was that the waiter offered us two Schnaps to apologise but one of them was charged to us under the name “mineral water” which we were not supposed to pay since it was tap water. Overall, the food was fine but overpriced and portions microspopic. They ruined a birthday dinner. Stay away from this place!

Classic Berlin dishes are reinterpreted and served with an interesting concept, almost like tapas. Perhaps a little more expensive than elsewhere, but the quality of the food is top-notch, with plenty of fresh, regional ingredients. The interior is bright and modern, and the staff is dedicated and attentive.

The cheese spaetzle are highly recommended!

We were looking forward to a nice restaurant visit, but were disappointed. The start was rocky – we had to wait a very long time for service. When we wanted to order, it turned out that about half of the menu was unavailable – both food and drinks. Even a simple Riesling was unavailable. In the end, we left without ordering. A real shame – dining out is no fun like that.

This restaurant offers classic German dishes in a smaller shareable form as well as delicious cocktails. Personally I liked the smaller portions as I was able to sample more dishes with a friend who was visiting Germany for the first time. We had the käse Spätzle, meat balls, Potato salad which were all very delicious. The food was very delicious and the wait staff were friendly. We went for an earlier dinner on a Thursday at 5pm and made a reservation although it was not necessary.

Great, delicious food. We ordered 4 dishes and all of them were incredible (especially the Käsespätzle!) Unfortunately the overall experience was disappointing because of their terrible service due to a clear lack of organization. We had to wait 1 hour for our food, same was for the tables next to us. When our food arrived we asked for bread, actually 3 times, and the waitress brought it only when we had finished eating. We didn’t accept it but still they charged it in the bill. The waiters seemed to be all over the place, for example, 3 different waiters attended us. It’s a pity because with better internal structure they have the potential to be a fantastic place.

The ticket system failed - it can happen, but making us wait for two hours without informing us and then bringing us the wrong food is completely unacceptable. The same thing happened to all the tables next to us. Sorry, but when something like that happens, you have to inform the customers. The result: we left the restaurant after two hours without having eaten. Of course, there was no free drink as an apology either.

If I could, I would give it 0 stars. I wanted to introduce my friends from India and Lebanon to German cuisine. The service here was terrible. After waiting for an hour, I politely asked if our order had been lost. The reply was "I don't speak German," and then the waitress was gone. The next waitress simply replied, "I don't think so." After two hours, we got up and left. NO APOLOGY from the service... very poor.

Went with great expectations but was very disappointed. We waited 2 hours for our food that never arrived and except for one kind staff member, the others were very rude and not even apologetic.

Some of the food was good and well-done (e.g., the cucumber salad, the fried chicken, potato salad, and cheese spaetzle were bland; Keit's bread was warm but not crispy); it was quite loud; waitresses only spoke English; service was inattentive; the table wobbled, wasn't wiped, and the candles weren't lit. Not worth it.

Berlin and Leberkäse – a sad chapter. This also applies to the beginning of my encounter with Klinke Leberkäse: The mini Leberkäse looked incredibly pathetic, wedged between two dreary slices of bread. The portion of cucumber salad was so small that I had to look twice. Both together cost a whopping 15 euros. Then the first bite – I'VE RARELY EATEN SUCH A FANTASTIC LEBERSCHÄS WITH COLESLAW! The same can be said about the cucumber salad. Both were finely balanced and perfectly balanced. 10 euros for a Leberkäse is undoubtedly against all good manners. But here, every cent was well spent. The ambience was deliberately simple, the seats uncomfortable, and the sound exhausting. A good Leberkäse doesn't need a soundtrack, but a perfect one can withstand any techno-induced annoyance. Conclusion: I'd go back anytime! Hats off to the kitchen!

Can’t reserve the place, makes me contact customer service (tried twice) 1 star, can’t recommend (please switch from buggy open table: terribly programmed, something broken!!!!!

My experience has not been great. We were a group of 20 people and were served a fixed menu of “all you can eat” sort-of tapas. Problems: 1) food was average. We received bread, broth, a basic salad, cucumbers… not bad but not good either. 2) service was slow. I acknowledge that we were many, but we arrived at 7:30pm and finished dinner almost at 11pm. 3) portions were very small. For example, I ate a third of a curry wurst, three spoonfuls of salad, half a piece of bread, etc. 4) some foods quickly ran out of stock and were insufficient for the table. To be fair, at the moment of dessert, when we got this feedback one more time, the waitress was very kind and asked the kitchen to prepare more desserts since many of us were still hungry. However, I think there should be more thought into this proactively, rather than waiting end of dinner to hear our complaints. Not sure if the problem was that we were too many, but we could have been told that in advance. Not recommended for big groups.

German cuisine in tapas style. Hyped doesn't mean good. It's not bad. Way too expensive. You should order 3 tapas to fill you up. Plus a side dish. Here you can eat quickly with 1 or 2 glasses of wine for just 50 euros. Rather more. And not adequately good. Moderately comfortable. But stylish and casual. The impression: money-making, a little stingy. (Half a liter of water, before table water as mineral water, in an open carafe 6 euros, bread 6 euros, from Keit, but still expensive). I would rather not bring friends from Europe's more generous south here. They would find that German-bourgeois-embarrassing. We only ate a little in the afternoon. Although we would have liked to have eaten "properly". Didn't appeal to us. Some nothing at all Not mine. Nice staff. Revise concept!

We were looking for a German specialty restaurant and we were lucky to find Klinke. Lots of choice, the food is delicious and not expensive. The team is great!

We found this German specialty restaurant during our visit to Berlin. We were delighted by the quality of the food and the welcome. The restaurant team is very welcoming and very friendly. I recommend this restaurant if you want to discover an authentic place where you can enjoy German cuisine.

I'm sorry, but the food felt like it was cooked without love. We were just disappointed and sad afterwards.

The two of us had dinner today and were very happy with the service. The dishes are tapas style and can be easily shared. We were recommended three main courses per person and that worked out very well.

We waited for our food more than an hour. We reserved a table for three people, got a table for two with an extra chair and excuse was something like there are other reservations. But that is the whole point of reservation system; not to have more people than your capacity. Inside is reallly loud because of the design i guess, you always leave the place with a headeche. The portions are ridiculously small for sharing, like everyone got a one bite from every meal. Very disappointed experience. Sorry.

The food is outstanding and the main reason I've been there several times. The staff on site did their best today, but unfortunately they were severely understaffed. We first waited 30 minutes for our food (still ok), but then another 45 minutes for 2 desserts. Given the hefty prices, I expect better management here. The dining room is also very loud. Some money could be invested in a few soundproofing panels on the ceiling. So if you want to go, bring LOTS of time.

Great food, we were blown away, a bit expensive for the size of the portions but the quality was top. Would have liked to try the whole menu, the drink of the day was also very good, but it had to be for 11.50. Service was ok, not particularly outstanding.

We spent a lovely evening here. The "Berlin tapas" are all delicious, and the drinks selection is also impressive. The atmosphere is very convivial, and the friendly service is super attentive. The view of the hustle and bustle of Oranienplatz also contributes to the fantastic atmosphere. Simply typical Kreuzberg. We'd definitely be happy to come back. A personal recommendation: the Kaiserschmarrn, although not "Berlin-style," with plum compote – simply heavenly.

Interesting concept of German food tapas

The food was good (a little bit overpriced), but the service was terrible. Our table was under the coat rack, and there was no place to sit. Furthermore, when we spoke to them in English, the waitresses responded in German, and when we asked for the menu in English, they told us it was the same as the German menu. Not friendly and welcoming at all to turists. We've received better service at small stalls with cheaper but equally delicious food.

Great restaurant! We looked for a table for two at short notice on a Saturday evening and were accepted there. Very tasty food - the best cheese spaetzle and best Kaiserschmarn I've ever had - and extremely friendly and quick service. Always happy!

We came on a recommendation, but we were disappointed right out of the gate. The waiter was no good, we had to suggest in what order and what to sell us. At the end of the evening, they completely forgot about us, the table was covered with uncleaned dishes. There was no talk of offering dessert or coffee. The dishes were also unimpressive, despite the fact that we ordered half the menu.

Fantastic cuisine. The Kaiserschmarrn was a dream, the goulash soup with cinnamon was refreshingly different. And the prices are still moderate.

Our table was positioned so that my head was 20cm from the cash register and the card reader, where every single guest in the restaurant paid separately, which meant that the table was constantly crowded and a quiet dinner was not remotely possible. Service also poor. It's a shame, because the food was very good, but overall there's no reason to come back again.

Nice idea& tasty food, but ways too expensive. Tiny portions, you need at least three to four dishes per person so you pay at least 40-50€ . Not worth it for that price. Also the food wasn't warm, and the guy at the entrance was a jerk.

We were in the clinic with a large group and were completely thrilled - the service was very attentive - and the restaurant was well filled on a Saturday evening. The taste of the food was excellent, the porcelain plates on which the food was served were a special feature.

Finde die Preise extrem teuer wenn man die Portionsgröße anschaut. Also zwei Kartoffelpuffer mit vllt 100-150 Gramm für 10€. Brathendl sind 3 20 gramm bites für auch 10€. Finde die Portionen viel zu klein.

I celebrated my birthday here with 9 friends. The food was absolutely delicious i must say, even though a bit overpriced. But the service…i‘m usually not a demanding customer but this was something else. When we arrived, our table was not even ready and we had to wait in the front and sat there for a long time. After we got brought to our table, nobody really took care of us and we waited for another 30 minutes until we begged the staff to take our orders for the drinks. They didn‘t really knew the drinks menu and told us „i don‘t know“ repeatedly when we asked them questions. The cocktails were quite bad. The service seemed quite annoyed and overwhelmed the whole time and we felt unwelcomed. Everything took ages. They also charged us 12€ for two small bottles of tap water. Overall the food was nice but there are definitely better places to go to.

Excellent eatery serving a good selection of German ‘tapas’ with a wide range of vegetarian offerings. Service was busy but mostly very good for a Saturday evening. Excellent vale for money - under €100 with drinks and pudding for two. Thoroughly recommend….
