When we pre-ordered at Mauritius, we were looking forward to a relaxed evening with good food – unfortunately, the culinary experience largely fell short of expectations. We ordered a schnitzel, two salads with turkey strips, and a rice and quinoa bowl. Let's start with the positives: The schnitzel was solid and the only dish that lived up to its description on the menu. It was well-fried, the breading crispy, and the accompanying sauce had a well-rounded flavor. Not a highlight, but okay. The two salads were a different story: They were obviously simple pre-made salads with no discernible freshness or creativity. Neither variety nor sophistication was evident. The few turkey strips seemed dry and seemed to have been waiting for their turn for a while. Flavorful and visually unappealing. The olives didn't improve the experience either – they were of questionable quality and rather distracting from the overall experience. The biggest disappointment, however, was the rice and quinoa bowl. The avocado was already brown and unsightly, and the advertised vegetables were barely there. Instead of a balanced bowl, we ended up with a plate consisting mostly of dry rice and quinoa – bland and unbalanced in taste. Overall, the meal left a disappointing impression. While the schnitzel was still passable, the salads and bowl lacked any freshness, quality, or attention to detail. There could have been much more.

The restaurant is actually beautifully located, but unfortunately the service is very disappointing and the food was not properly prepared. I ordered cheese spaetzle, which were unfortunately undercooked. When I politely pointed this out to the older waitress, she immediately started an argument. She said she had been cooking for 20 years and her food was good—perhaps I just didn't know the taste. I found this reaction very rude and disrespectful. It is also not the first time this waitress has spoken to guests in such a harsh and unfriendly manner. I will definitely not visit this restaurant again and sincerely hope that they will pay attention to friendlier staff in the future. This kind of treatment of guests is simply unacceptable.
