Kleine Burg in Oldenburg (Oldb)

A lovely little restaurant. We really enjoyed the food (two types of veal, duck, and the crème brûlée). The service was also very attentive and friendly. We would love to come back!

A top-class restaurant without equal: The food is of the highest quality and creatively prepared, turning a meal into a mini-exploration on your own plate, with every stop inviting new taste experiences! The whole experience is rounded off by the novel idea of offering non-alcoholic beverages. The mixed drinks (one example was a non-alcoholic martini espresso) were varied and flavorful, leaving no room for boredom in the glass. Whoever tells me you need alcohol to have a variety of drinks? When it comes to staff, this little castle always proves to have a good touch. In addition to the fact that the owner herself lends a hand, great attention has been paid to customer-friendly and competent staff. You immediately notice that the employees are wholeheartedly committed to their work, and guests feel very welcome. I'm looking forward to my next visit and will be happy to provide more photos! Whenever I go shopping in Oldenburg, I have to have lunch at the "Kleine Burg." A truly delicious meal, lovingly prepared and presented. Whether with meat, vegetarian, or even vegan, it's simply highly recommended. And the service is attentive, friendly, and welcoming.

We had a wonderful 49th wedding anniversary evening at the "Burg"! The menu was excellent; sophisticated, creative, and very tasty. The service was very friendly, unobtrusive but attentive. As a welcome, we received a glass of Prosecco from the hotel to mark the occasion, and a heart-shaped balloon floated over our table!

We celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary there. They specially decorated a conveniently located table for us. If you want to go out to eat even though you're a good cook, this is the place for you.

Great location! Very nice atmosphere, super friendly service, and excellent food. We'd love to come back on our next orienteering trip! :-)

Everything was great from the service to the food

After hearing good things from friends, we came to dinner with high expectations. And it was truly fantastic. A menu with something for every taste, super friendly and attentive service, and creatively and exquisitely presented food. We had the ox cheeks, and they blew us away. The value for money was absolutely justified. We'd happily go back anytime.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed yesterday. We come regularly for lunch and look forward to the fish dish. After we returned our food because the fish and purée were lukewarm, a server rushed to our table to find out exactly which parts of the meal were lukewarm. This server informed us in an inappropriate and patronizing tone that the salad and gazpacho were served cold. I find it incomprehensible how she took it for granted that we were unaware of this. When our food was brought back to our table, we discovered that the fish and purée were hot, but unfortunately, so were the gazpacho and salad. No other server came to our table to ask if everything was okay. Furthermore, I find it outrageous that the minimum tip for digital payment is 12% of the total.

Unfortunately, the tuna smelled a bit fishy... I wouldn't have offered it again!!!!!:-((

Wonderful ambiance and extremely friendly staff when booking our table. The food was good overall, except for the "Norwegian Lobster," which was old and dry. It was quite busy, and the service was a bit slow...

We went there for dinner in June 2025. We first went to the "Kleine Burg" about 10 years ago and were delighted to see it's still there! The food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the burgers. They were amazing, and the fries were fantastic! Please keep up the good work! You're truly amazing! We'll definitely be back!

I was looking for a nice restaurant with exceptionally good food in Oldenburg and came across the "Little Castle"... The occasion was a birthday, and I wanted something a little better than usual... My expectations were high, but they were even exceeded in terms of food and taste... The stylish decor and perfect service round out the overall package. We give it 12 out of 10 points; the "Little Castle" impressed across the board...! I'd love to come back here. Too bad I don't live nearby, otherwise I'd be a regular here...!

At 10:00 p.m. the light was dimmed, the outer door opened. With us the feeling came up that we should go now!

Der Kartoffelbrei mit Meerrettich war fluffig, lecker und perfekt im Geschmack. Das Fellchen knusprig gebraten, ohne trocken zu sein. Und die Gemüse….. endlich mal eine Küche, die Gemüse kann. Der PakChoi war knackig grün und ein Genuss. Genau wie die bunten kleinen Paprikas. Optisch und geschmacklich war mein Teller, so wie ich es mir eigentlich von jedem Restaurant wünsche. Die meisten bekommen das leider nicht hin. Der Service war genauso ambitioniert und sehr nett. Ungekünstelt und aufmerksam. Würde ich in Oldenburg wohnen, wäre die Kleine Burg mein Stammlokal.

An unforgettable evening at the "Kleine Burg" in Oldenburg – perfection on every level Our recent experience at the Kleine Burg restaurant in Oldenburg was simply extraordinary – a culinary delight paired with warmth, professionalism, and an ambiance that is second to none. This evening was a gift to my in-laws – and it became an experience they will talk about for a long time. From the moment we were greeted by the warm, smiling service team, it became clear: hospitality is not just lived here, but celebrated. The atmosphere was warm, stylish, and at the same time relaxed – a place where you arrive and immediately unwind. For my in-laws, they were served fresh asparagus with burrata as an appetizer – a harmonious interplay of textures and flavors. The freshness of the asparagus, the delicate melting of the burrata, and a hint of citrus – a prelude that left us wanting more. The following main course – schnitzel with once again perfectly cooked asparagus – impressed not only with its quality, but also with the subtle interplay of tradition and refinement. The breading was golden yellow and crispy, yet so finely balanced that the tender meat inside wasn't overpowered. With every bite, you could sense that a master of his craft was in the kitchen. I would particularly like to highlight the wine pairing. The selection was not only harmonious, but also excellently matched to the individual courses. Each drop elegantly enhanced the respective dish and perfectly rounded off the experience. You could tell that someone had put a lot of thought into it – and this attention to detail continued throughout the entire evening. To my in-laws' great regret, they had to reluctantly cancel dessert – not because it wasn't tempting, but because the portions were so generous and filling that there was simply no room left. And that, too, speaks to the generosity and quality of this establishment. In conclusion, all I can say is that the Kleine Burg is much more than a restaurant. It's a place where cuisine, service, and atmosphere converge at the highest level – supported by a team that puts its heart and soul into its work. It was a perfect evening for my in-laws. The food was tasty, but the Wiener Schnitzel was a bit too generous. The atmosphere in the back is too sober, and the bench in the right corner isn't comfortable.

Unassuming from the outside, it's outstanding on the inside! The service is top-notch, with every detail thought of. The most important thing, of course, is the food, which was top-notch. Last but not least, I also have to praise the little things: the restrooms had all sorts of hygiene products, from deodorant to cream!

I ate there with a group of 29 people on Saturday. To ensure everything ran smoothly, we were asked to choose our dishes a few days in advance. This made everything very relaxed for the waiter and for us as well. The group received their food promptly, without having to wait long. The food was beautifully presented, and everyone was absolutely thrilled. The restaurant was recommended to me by a friend, and I have to say, it really comes highly recommended. A big compliment to the kitchen and the attentive service.

I can't rate the food because, after discussing our seating with the waitress, we were ignored for 10 minutes... Meanwhile, new customers who arrived after us had already been served, complete with chilled champagne on their tables... Never again 🙃 EDIT: I think it's awesome how they try to talk their way out of it - we obviously had a friendly conversation with the waitress beforehand. We don't just sit anywhere... it just makes the place even more unpleasant. You guys are doing great!

We celebrated our wedding with a great dinner in the Little Castle. The Kleine Burg has been our favorite restaurant in Oldenburg for several years and the perfect wedding evening confirmed this once again. The atmosphere in the small castle is beautiful and very cozy. For our special event with 19 people, we had our own room, which was beautifully decorated. The service in the Kleine Burg has been top on all of our previous visits! The waiters are incredibly attentive and friendly. A big compliment goes to the kitchen for the fantastic food! Special requests were fully addressed. I could eat 10 portions of the “Avocado Goat” appetizer every day. Depending on the season, there are always new dishes, so it's worth visiting regularly. Dear Little Castle: Keep it up! We look forward to continuing to celebrate our special occasions with you.

We always feel very comfortable in the small castle and love the fresh, refined and very high quality cuisine! For our little son there were not only painting supplies already set out, but also a few kids' menus. We can really recommend this restaurant, whether for business, wedding or family dinner - always a good choice in Oldenburg!

Beautiful restaurant in the old walls in downtown Oldenburg. We found the portions huge, so I took a doggy bag with me for the first time.

Very courteous service and great food, highly recommended! Two small points of criticism: A greeting from the kitchen beforehand or with an aperitif would be nice and please no pre-packaged speculoos biscuits with coffee/espresso. Why not continue to be as innovative as before? Please take this as a suggestion...

First of all… the food was fantastic! We chose the lunch menu. It was really delicious 😋 But…the soup came before the drinks. The main course had already been served and we hadn't finished eating the soup yet. The waiter took the main course back. We then heard the boss from the kitchen say that he should still serve. Sometimes less is more. Perhaps in such a case the tables should not be occupied twice.

Unfortunately our voucher for €100 was not redeemed because it supposedly had expired. This can't be allowed!! After the very tasty meal, we left the restaurant with a negative conclusion and will no longer recommend it.

I've often strolled through Oldenburg's Burgstraße, but never visited the restaurant. But then we were so excited that we went there twice a week. A very appetizing burger with crispy fries with various sauces in the lunch menu. The second time, crispy sea bream fillet with very tasty side dishes. Nice ambience with an atrium. Very friendly, attentive staff. Spontaneously chosen as my favorite restaurant for my next visit to Oldenburg. Reservations recommended for the evening

Everything was excellent, but one thing was really annoying: when paying by card, you're given a default tip amount and have to choose. It makes you feel under pressure. I still want to decide for myself, not have it imposed on me.

Nach einem perfekten (Solo-)Erlebnis im Januar 2023 habe ich die Kleine Burg zur Feier meines 50. Geburtstags ausgesucht, um meine Gäste zu einem kulinarischen Erlebnisabend einzuladen. Und der ist wirklich gelungen. Schöne Geburtstagsdeko und aufmerksamer Service - mein Weinglas (hervorragender Petit Chablis - ich wohne in Frankreich...) war nie leer! Top! Das "Signature-Dessert" der kleinen Burg, der "Waldspaziergang", hat auch meine Gäste begeistert. Ich bedanke mich nochmals ausdrücklich für einen wunderschönen Abend! Ich kann die Reservierung auf der eigenen Webseite übrigens nur empfehlen.

I like being a guest there. Kleine Burg is now very established and known for its good cuisine and service. I often have lunch there, invite my guests, meet my friends. I've never been disappointed. For me Kleine Burg is the best restaurant in the pedestrian zone. Highly recommended.

A small selection of outstanding courses — both classic and modern, always creative. The best restaurant I’ve tried in Oldenburg so far. Very friendly with children.

We were guests yesterday at lunchtime. Always happy to come to Oldenburg from 150 km away. We sat right at the counter, where there was a lot of noise being made while the drinks were being prepared. I come from the catering industry. This is also quieter when you are stressed! There was a spill when pouring the drink. The waitress didn't even say "sorry". I would have liked to order dessert, but we were neither asked during the meal whether we were satisfied nor after the main course for any further requests. The highlight was the payment process. The really friendly trainee put the card reader in front of me and disappeared. I had to enter everything myself and carry out the payment process. Nobody came to say goodbye and to see if the payment went through. There were three adults and one trainee in service. Things have to work better next time! Because it is the perfect service that has always impressed us so much.

The food was good, but New Zealand lamb is not a must in Oldenburg. A little less large Wiener Schnitzel, but some vegetables would be good. What was pleasing was that the large salad could be shared and was served on two plates.

As always, it was a very, very pleasant combination of great food and excellent, attentive and simply friendly service. It was a joy again!

I had lunch at this restaurant with two friends and my experience was extremely positive. The map is clear. Great importance is placed on fresh and good ingredients. The food came very quickly even though the restaurant was busy. Aaaand the food was just super delicious :). I would be happy to come back here any time I end up in Oldenburg.

We reserved a table at 8 p.m. and ordered a 3 and 4 menu. The food came very quickly, plates had to be cleared away even though we weren't finished. When dessert was supposed to come, I asked if it could wait another 10 minutes. Answer: the kitchen closes at nine o'clock!!!! After the dessert my wife felt sick, she can't tolerate finished products or semi-finished products, when asked, speechless!!!!!

A beautifully decorated room with its own children's area for a big birthday (around 20 people). First-class, attentive service and very, very tasty food. Grade one!

Unfortunately, the ambience was marred by a loud, large group of guests. Food and service were at the highest level! Very friendly and attentive staff. Keeping the cleaning robot with its docking station in the dining room within the guests' sight seemed a bit strange... 😉 Overall: Great restaurant, which I can happily recommend!

Thank you for the excellent food and friendly service, especially from the young gentleman who appears to be receiving an excellent education. There is only one small complaint about the atmosphere, namely the traffic of customers without reservations, which is turned away quite harshly.

Unfortunately it was very loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. That made it not so comfortable. Very attentive staff!
