Liebe Menschen und Katzen, danke, dass es euch gibt! Ein dickes Miau von Eddie und Petra aus Ruhrstadt. Wir waren schon oft im Bochumer Katzentempel, was immer wir gegessen haben, wer immer uns serviert und beschnurrt hat: Alles rundum lecker. Auch das Texterinnenherz freut sich über eure Einfälle für Katzen- und Essensnamen! Und dann auch noch vegan ... Viel Freude und Erfolg weiterhin und jede Menge lieber Gäste! PS - hier muss man was auswählen, unsere Besuche hatten schon viele Anlässe, Tageszeiten und menschliche Zusammenstellungen ;-)

It was just great, no more words needed

- Very nice atmosphere - Rules regarding dealing with the cats should be better enforced by the staff - would be happy to visit again, even in other cities :)

Unfortunately there was nothing to greet us. You enter the shop and first stand in an intermediate room. Unfortunately there is no bell on the door and you are asked to wait. I stood there for five minutes. Afterwards I received a nice welcome. I was politely shown to the table. It was very crowded and it took a while for the food to arrive. 45 minutes in total. The cats were visibly exhausted, a long Sunday, lots of guests. I got the wrong food and would have had to pay an extra two euros for it, but this was clarified verbally so that I got by without any extra charge. The drink is served in the bottle but not opened at the table which is unusual but nothing further makes a difference because the carbon dioxide was enough of an indication of freshness. The food is a bit expensive, as are drinks, but it is completely vegan, which is unfortunately more expensive than meat at the moment. All in all, you can come back

I had dinner here with my family today and we were all absolutely thrilled. About the food and drinks: None of us eat vegan and I have to say that we are still completely convinced by the food and drinks. We all enjoyed it very much and the price/performance ratio was more than good. Professionally prepared. The portions were perfect for us. About the ambience: Anyone who expects 5 stars here is (luckily for me) wrong. There is a very pleasant, cozy atmosphere, which is also very important for the cats. The cats weren't intrusive at all and rather enjoyed the peace and quiet. The whole family is warmly welcome here and you can feel it as soon as you walk in! About the staff: More than accommodating, consistently polite and very accommodating. Any special requests were immediately addressed and implemented straight away. About the cats: All cats radiate calm and serenity. This is primarily due to the staff who take care of the cats. In free moments, the staff sits with the cats and pays them attention (without forgetting the guests). I can't imagine a better place to stay for the cats. Hygiene: Everything is tip top clean and in order. Once the staff took care of the cats, their hands were disinfected immediately afterwards. The tables were all clean and the floor was neither dirty nor full of hair despite the 8 cats. Conclusion: My daughter was in 7th cat heaven and had a wonderful time here. My wife and I were also very enthusiastic and enjoyed the time very much. However, one negative thing remains: Unfortunately, there is no cat temple here in Wiesbaden! That's a shame, otherwise we would definitely have become regular customers! Thank you for the great time!

Always delicious, always a reason to come to Bochum.

Unfortunately the staff wasn't very attentive. Drinks and food were forgotten twice and only brought when asked. We also had to wait quite a long time to order again while the staff talked to each other. The food is, as you would expect from other Katzenmtempeles, a little more expensive. You're happy to pay this price to be able to enjoy the ambience with the cats. The bowl was also quite tasty, the dessert (Donauwelle) was quite dry. To reach the toilet you have to go through the hallway and down a flight of stairs. Unfortunately, it's anything but barrier-free.

Very nice atmosphere and super friendly staff. Actually, a reservation is necessary. But if you spontaneously decide to go there and there is enough space, the friendly staff will be happy to help.

We visited here for dinner while staying in an Airbnb in the city. Reservation through the website was easy to do. The vibe in the restaurant was not too busy, but still nice and lively. They seemed to have separate seating for people with children, we were seated in a quieter area up front, which we appreciated. The cats were walking around quite a lot and we spotted all of them, especially on the walkways near the ceiling. The staff was super friendly. Food was all vegan and tasted amazing. Even our friend with a soy intolerance had enough options. Portions were large and the plates were all decorated in a cat theme. We all had the lemonades and they were also delicous! We especially loved the pea-based guacamole included on the burgers. I loved the cat books and games that were available around the restaurant to be looked through and used. They also have a small selection of merch. Would reccommend this for the food alone, even if you're not vegan or a cat lover. But extra reccommended for cat lovers, of course!

Basically, I think cafés like this are great because several cats that are rescued or can't find a home get a clean home with good care here in the company of other cat lovers. There is no smell of cat feces, nor are the cats unkempt or malnourished. The cats are clearly doing well and have their own retreat area with a “cat door” on both the floor and the ceiling. This door is connected to the ceiling with climbing bridges for the cats. These walkways lead across all rooms and are connected. The cats can decide for themselves whether they want to be in the company of people, just observe or withdraw completely. That's why I think these cafés are great from an animal welfare perspective. It could also be available for dogs, rabbits, birds and the like. Gladly more. (I have already visited various animal cafes in Korea and the whole thing looks completely different. Rather bad.) About the café itself: It's clean, it looks nice, it smells good (like food). However, I find the offer quite expensive unless you're just drinking a café. And I say that from the perspective of a city kid. As is generally the case in Germany, the café is bitter. Since it's bitter almost everywhere else here, I'll ignore the aspect of café quality. However, I think there are far too many tables for the limited space. We had to be moved twice because there were two of us and we were sitting in a seat for 4, which is supposed to be kept free for future guests (these guests never came and we were told at the beginning that we could choose the seat...). Unfortunately our new place was really bad. People or the waiters were constantly touching/grazing us because there was simply no space. I think we just have to cut out some places. In addition, the circular tables were far too low compared to the height of the chairs. So you sit sideways because it doesn't fit any other way if you are of average height. You would definitely need other tables that are higher unless you want to create an Ottoman feel, but then the tables would have to be very low so that that is noticeable. About the service: Very young and friendly staff. Accordingly, the explanation as to why we were changing places was not well thought out in terms of the solution. For example, one could have said that the seat would only have to be changed when the group of four in question arrived at the café. In addition (as I know from my own professional experience), you should explicitly point out to waiters from Western cultures that they should always keep their eyes open to see whether the guests want to pay or why the guests are standing around and waiting or why the guests are looking at you (of course because they need something or want to pay, etc.). Or you look around to see if anyone needs a napkin and offer one if you observe something. (Since this form of attention/hospitality is common practice in other cultures, I have explicitly referred to Western people. This also applies to migrant people who were born and raised in Germany and are accordingly socialized in the West). I also found it particularly nice that there is a cat board game that you can play for free on site.

We were travelling from Denmark to Essen and drove especially to Bochum to go to this cafe. The food was absolutely incredible and the cats are really fun and friendly ! We hope there will one day be a cafe in the northern part of Germany, so we can do quick visits over the border :)

We went to the Cat Temple for the first time today with a reservation. The shop would be really nice if it wasn't so cluttered with tables that you feel like you're sitting on your lap. So it's not comfortable there. The food and drink is exclusively vegan and therefore expensive. The portions are rather small, but tasty. There is enough space on the walls for the cats to run and sleep. They are very relaxed and look well groomed. It's a shame it was just too crowded. The staff take very good care of the cats. I was warned not to touch the cat when it was sleeping (although the cat was awake and had snuggled down because of my petting session. It was a stupid feeling to be warned in front of everyone). Personally, I won't go there anymore because you can't interact with the cats at all and there are too many people crammed into the premises. You could get rid of half of the tables and make it more comfortable so that you also have space on the floor to set something up for the cats or play with them. And only with reservation would be better too.

Super great but it would be cool to print the city name on the cups for sale. We don't find it that interesting as a collector's cup

I tried vegan hamburgers for the first time and I was very pleasantly surprised. The service is super friendly and the cute cats create a nice atmosphere.

Very sweet! Delicious and regularly changing menu. Cats are absolutely kind, wish people would respect privacy of cats more, some don't know boundaries. Having cats at home is no invitation for entitlement. The whole concept is built sustainably and depends--in many cases--on individual behavior and reason. Would recommend the location, the drinks, and the food. The site is in the middle of the city center, easy to access, and offers outdoor space, too.

Friendly service. Large vegan menu. Burgers and bowls were very tasty. There is also a large selection of cakes etc. Depending on the number of visitors there may be waiting times. Cats can be petted if they let themselves. At certain times, visitors are also allowed to feed the cats and employees distribute food for the cats at the tables.

What can I say? We enjoy eating there, friendly service staff, great food, great desserts and delicious drinks. Rounded off by a relaxed atmosphere and lovely furry friends to keep you company.

A truly unique experience. The food was super tasty and cruelty-free. The staff was really very nice and accommodating. And the cats were really very cute. Since we have a dog and often had him with us, we haven't been there before, but we'll definitely come back again. A recommendation for anyone looking for good food and a nice ambience.

Unfortunately, there are no negative reviews for the service on Google. Not only was I treated badly for bringing the wrong tea that I ordered, but they also insulted me three times in front of the entire restaurant. After petting the cats, I received three lessons on how not to disturb a cat in front of all the visitors. The name of the café “Cat Temple” fully corresponds to its meaning. Here cats are elevated to something like an object of religious worship. As an experienced cat lover, I know very well that when a cat wants to be alone, without attention, he simply goes to a place where no one can reach him. Conclusion: Visitors should not pay attention to the sign of the cat temple, but simply come to eat delicious, healthy food.

Schade das so tolle Laden mit wunderschöne konzept eine Mitarbeiterin macht kaputt. Beim jede Bestellung die Kellnerin mit haarband hat immer augen gedreht und komische Mimik gemacht! Hej wir sind Gäste und bezahlen für unsere Essen also nett sein bitte! Ich komme selbst aus gastro Bereich und bei uns ist Kunde ist der König, hier leider ist nicht sooo. Und das künstliche nett zu sein nicht nötig! Dazu bitte öfter die Boden sauber machen. Mein Sohn war nur eine Stunde in Socken gelaufen - effekt katastrophal.

Something completely different. Eating vegan, if you are not convinced about it, is also a challenge and expensive. The furnishings are rather bare, wooden benches because of the 6 cats present. Behavior upon entry is essential.

The cat temple is very unusual: vegan and with cute furry friends who visit the guests from time to time. The food is very fresh and appetizing, and food intolerances are perfectly catered for. The waitresses were very friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. We will definitely come back again.

The temple is really worth a visit, there are 6 cats running around in the whole restaurant and you can pet them, the food is very tasty and fresh, I just think the portion is too small for the price, but overall I would definitely come back again

We waited a long time to be shown to our table, but when we were noticed and ignored several times, we sat ourselves down at a free table. A waitress immediately came to us and said that this was not allowed and asked us to leave. Half of the room was free, but she said everything was reserved, even though there weren't even any reservation signs. She told us afterwards that we would never see each other again, and at the door she deliberately pushed my friend with the door under the pretext that the cat might escape. Although there are never cats in this hallway near the exit. Absolute disgrace. Our first visit to this cafe was better.

If possible, go during the week, but it can be a bit noisy on weekends when it's full. The price is a bit higher but not exorbitant and justifiable since the cats should have a good time and the food is sustainably vegan. :3

The Cat Temple in Bochum disappoints in almost every way. As soon as you enter, you notice that cleanliness is not the priority you would expect in a café. The floors are dirty and the tables appear unkempt, which really spoils the overall picture. The gastronomic offering also leaves a lot to be desired. The dishes are not only weak in taste, but also extremely unimaginative. It lacks fresh and creative options that one might expect from such a cafe. The drinks are particularly disappointing: While the ready-made drinks like beer and coffee are okay, the cocktails are a total failure - overpriced and without any taste. It seems as if there is no attention to detail here, which is reflected in the quality. The service at the Cat Temple is another major drawback. The staff is unfriendly, often seems arrogant and seems to have little interest in the guests. The service times are extremely long, even though the store is not even busy. You get the feeling that the employees are either poorly organized, don't enjoy their work or are simply overwhelmed. This feeling of unprofessionalism runs through the entire visit. What is most disappointing, however, is the condition of the cats. These are actually the heart of the café, but many of the animals appear unkempt and some even appear sick. This is absolutely unacceptable for a cat coffee that is supposed to be about the welfare of animals. Overall, the cat temple in Bochum is a big disappointment. Those who have never been to a cat cafe may find the experience interesting, but for everyone else this cafe is far below the standard one would expect. I cannot recommend a visit here.

We had cake and hot drinks. Very nice café and the service was really friendly. My food was also first class! You can also tell that the cats are well looked after here and that the animals are respected. Two points of criticism: 1. The way some of the children treat the cats here made me shake my head... The staff should have taken tougher action. 2. Everything is really very expensive, but good, you also pay for the cats, but a visit is something special that you don't do every day.

As the owner of two cats, I visited this unique restaurant with my wife and daughter and was thrilled from the start. The concept is perfectly thought out: you enjoy delicious, diverse and completely vegan food while being surrounded by purring, playing and sleeping cats. The menu offers everything your heart desires - from sandwiches, burgers and bowls to salads and heavenly desserts such as cake and ice cream. The drinks menu also leaves nothing to be desired: from classic refreshments such as cola and coffee to matcha and fruity drinks, everything is there. The Cat Temple is clean, tidy and modernly furnished, which immediately creates a feeling of well-being. The cats are super clean, healthy and seem consistently happy and relaxed. It is clearly noticeable that the welfare of the animals comes first here. The staff is young, super friendly and always helpful. The air-conditioned rooms also contribute to the pleasant atmosphere, which is particularly welcome on hot days. We felt completely comfortable in the cat temple. The prices are absolutely fair and the food was simply excellent - it couldn't have been better. Visiting the Cat Temple was not only a culinary delight, but also a restful and relaxing experience. Completely overpriced. The vegan scrambled eggs only taste like tofu and are probably just a joke for the price. We will neither come back nor recommend it to others.

Sweet cats, but super unfriendly waitress. First we stood in the vestibule completely unnoticed for a long time, even though many seats were free, then we dared to open the door to draw attention to ourselves. The waitress shot at us and hissed at us to get out immediately. I really like the Cat Temple, the atmosphere is pleasant and if all customers follow the internal rules it is always fun to be there. All the service staff are nice and are happy to take their time with you. The vegan food is always delicious and the many components mean that the menu, provided you try it out, never gets boring.

Four of us went there spontaneously because we discovered it by chance when we were in Bochum. Great ambience, friendly service. The food was great, not cheap but so delicious! Unfortunately we didn't have long, would have liked to watch more cats, would love to come back with more time. I think the idea is brilliant and well implemented. A cat temple in Würzburg would be perfect :)

We were there for the first time today. Cat temple. Highly Recommended. The food was great, the service was very accommodating! A must for cat lovers! It's really so nice to spend time with the little furry friends, they are so sweet and really sweet. We have cats ourselves and still found it very special there. We'd love to come back

The service was cheeky, restless and rude (the young blonde lady). But the food was delicious. If we hadn't been so hungry we would have left because of the service staff. And what kind of restaurant is this where you serve people vegan food but the cats get dead animals in their food bowls even though there has long been vegan pet food where no other animals are exploited? Cats can live a plant-based lifestyle just like humans! Get informed!!!! As long as your cats still eat animal carcasses, you are not a vegan restaurant, but a hypocrite!!!

We felt very comfortable with you and enjoyed some excellent food. Fissel, Eumel, Hulle and Scholli visited us and made the stay very special. Fissel even lay on my mother's back on the window sill for a while while Hulle tried to grab something from the plate. 🤭 Of course we prevented that. Thank you all! 😘

The people are very friendly and also take care of the cats. The cats looked very happy. There was also a small room where the cats could retreat. The food was similar to fast food but very tasty. You could also buy clothes and other things.

The food was really delicious. I was skeptical at first, but I was really very surprised. I don't think the atmosphere is that nice. I had imagined a cat temple to be more comfortable. It seemed boring and cold.

Certainly not bad as a cafe, the drinks were actually pretty good. However, my food was incredibly bland. Imagine the color gray as a color. The tomato on the burger had the most flavor. The fries were so far dry, as if they had been in an air fryer. The following night was dominated by stomach cramps and vomiting. The place is great for going for a coffee and watching the cats, but even in hospitals there is a thousand times better food. I mean the tomato ketchup was the best thing on my plate.

Das System mit dem Katzen gefällt mir gut und ist eine tolle Sache! Die Bedienung war affektiert und arrogant! 8 von 15 Tischen waren besetzt. Die Küche und der Service total überfordert. Kunden wurden vorne an der Tür deshalb abgewiesen. 3 Servicekräfte waren vorhanden. Der Blick durch die Fenster in eine Seitenstraße. Die Karte gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber noch O. K. Bestellungsaufnahme nach ca. 10 Minuten, mein Tee und eine weitere Tasse Kaffee ließen dann noch einmal 15 Minuten auf sich warten. Die Schalenstühle waren unbequem. Umsetzen durften wir uns nicht, da "noch Gruppen angekündigt waren". (Der wirkliche Grund war wahrscheinlich, dass sie mit der Organisation nicht zurecht kamen). Alles in allem... Wären die Katzen nicht gewesen, unterirdisch schlecht!!!

Very good vegan food, I had a temple sandwich. It was a very large portion. It is very clean there and the service is friendly and attentive. The cats seem to be doing just fine; they can even withdraw completely if they want to. The animals come from animal welfare.

Very tasty and exclusively vegan food. The fries are very good, unfortunately the prices are a bit high. But that's understandable when you consider that the cats have to be financed. Unfortunately, the swivel chairs are very uncomfortable and the cats only come to the tables at the edge. All in all, a nice visit.

Nice place for cat lovers We were lucky and were there at feeding time. We were even given some food to lure and feed the cats. The food is really tasty and the service staff are all very nice. I think it's good that shelter cats have found a loving home there. Great concept that will hopefully be available in more cities soon.

Very nice cozy cafe. Lots of resting places and climbing opportunities for the velvet paws. You can see the sweet little paws and they come too. A curious little paw was with me and I was able to pet it. I love cats and we really enjoyed being there and will definitely be back. The service is also very friendly and nice. The visit was very good. The food is delicious. The cat company is fantastic. Definitely recommended for cat lovers.

Great food, cute cats, nice service

Lovely cafe and an absolute paradise for cat lovers. We were lucky that we were even allowed to feed the cats. The food is comparatively expensive, €14 for a sandwich is not quite standard. But if you order something, it's really tasty. The smoothie bowl was also very, very small for €9.90. I can recommend the bread and the Meowjito here!
