I was very impressed and delighted by my first visit. The warm atmosphere, with the cats, the other guests, and the friendly staff, invites you to linger. The cats are so friendly with the many guests. As a guest, you're constantly surprised by the cats' charming interactions, whether you're eating or chatting. The vegetarian food is good, and you can watch the chefs preparing the dishes. The service staff is very nice and friendly. It's well worth a visit.

I've had cats since I was a small child. That is, until Christmas 2023 when our last cat had to be put down. Since then, the Christmas season has sometimes been a bit difficult for me. Yesterday, I went to the cat sanctuary for the first time, quite spontaneously at lunchtime. Two minutes after I sat down, Lorbass came by and watched pigeons through the window. I gave him a quick stroke. After another 10 minutes, he sat on my lap and stayed there until I had to leave. We cuddled a lot – it was magical. I also had a hot chocolate with spices and a very tasty soup. While Lorbass and I were cuddling, Koko terrorized the staff with her very endearing mischief – which was (at least for me) also very entertaining.

Delicious food, friendly service, and adorable pets to cuddle and watch. We will definitely be back.

I've been to the Cat Temple several times and have always felt incredibly comfortable. The food is also excellent, and as a cat lover myself, my heart leaps with joy whenever I see the furry friends. It simply makes me happy, and the service is fantastic!

Each one has such a distinct personality, though my heart was completely stolen by the white babygirl with the soft blue eyes. Beyond the adorable company, the food was exceptional — beautifully plated with delicate paw prints on every dish, a playful yet elegant touch that made the experience even more special. The cold paw dessert (Don't call it snickers XD) was a delightful surprise: refreshing, creamy, and perfectly balanced. And the hot chocolate with caramel (caramel chocat latte)? Pure comfort in a cup — rich, smooth, and cozy. Katzentempel is a little sanctuary of warmth, compassion, and creativity. This place is pure serotonin. The cats are adorable, chill, and clearly treated like royalty (as they should be). The food is mind-blowingly good, I didn’t even realize vegan could taste like this. 10/10 would move in if I could! 🐾🖤🐈

I wouldn't even give it one star. During our five-day stay, we tried to go in several times, and each time we were told they were fully booked. Two hours later, when we walked by, half the café was empty. On the last day, at 11:00 AM, our son (7 years old) wanted to try again. We arrived at 11:00 AM and wanted to make a reservation for 12:00 PM. Apparently, there was a space available, but during the conversation, the woman suddenly said, "They only have room for two people, not three." At 12:00 PM, when we walked by, half the café was empty again, and a family with two children, who had waited with us at 11:00 AM, were sitting inside. It seems they only want to let locals from Bochum in.

Soul food presented beautifully, full of natural ingredients, and something for everyone. The ambiance is unique and distinctive. Friendly service that takes the time to explain things. I'll definitely be back! 🤩

I hadn't been there in a while and was delighted to see some new cat faces. The food was delicious as always, and the service was good. It's also quieter late in the evening because it's less busy.

Food wasn't bad, but the cats are boring I may just as well look at them on TV. They made no cantact with anyone in the Cafe, just floating around doing their best to avoid contact of any kind. If you go there for the cats it is a waste of time.

The food at Katzentempel has been delicious on previous visits, and this was certainly the case again this time. It's also attractively presented, and the restaurant is already decorated, etc. However, we had to wait quite a while for the food. From the moment we ordered to the moment we received the food, almost an hour passed. This amount of time is completely incomprehensible for a fryer made from fries. Other guests waited a similar amount of time for a few burgers, and others who arrived at the same time as us left after an hour without receiving their food. And not even close to all the seats were occupied. If it had been incredibly busy, that would be understandable, but not in this way. If the staff takes that long to prepare customers' food, then perhaps they should consider hiring additional staff or something similar to optimize the process.

I went to the Cat Temple for the first time today, and I'm absolutely thrilled. I've only been vegan for a month, and the food is simply super, super delicious. I highly recommend the tiramisu, in particular! The one with the cats is also really great. The whole concept of this restaurant is simply wonderful. The rescue of the cats, the ethical approach to factory farming and climate change—everything is simply fantastic.

My sister took me here yesterday for my birthday, and it was my first visit. I was absolutely thrilled! The concept is fantastic, the food is incredibly delicious, and the staff are super friendly. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed, and the cats are simply adorable. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy good food and adorable four-legged friends! 🐾🐱

I ordered tea, but the cup was dirty and had a brown residue on the bottom. Also, the restaurant only has two sugar bowls, which you either have to go and get yourself or ask the waiter for. If you ask, he'll bring it, but with clearly visible displeasure and a forced smile. The cats are very cute, but for such a large café, they're barely visible.

The cafe itself is nice, but you expect a little more from a cat cafe. Food options are limited, but the portions are good. Drinks are good, as well. Can’t judge the taste, i liked it and my partner didn’t, so you just have to try. It’s cozy, but could be better if the cats were more active/there would be more of them. There were three of them, one of the cats was grooming himself the whole time we were there(1,5 hrs), which might be a reason to worry, but i’m no expert🧐🥲. The other two cats were sleeping, only one of them woke up, walked around the cafe and went back to sleep.

The two of us spontaneously stopped by and were lucky that it wasn't that busy yet. The wait was short, and the staff was friendly. There's no meat on the menu, but we didn't miss it. We had sandwiches with a side salad, which were very tasty and generous portions to fill you up. The cats are very friendly and seem very happy there. We'll definitely be back.

What a great idea to open a café with cats. Does it have to be vegan? The coffee with oat milk tasted floury, the apple pie with crumb topping was mushy, the ice cream served with it had a mouthfeel like ice pops, and the cream was reminiscent of expanding foam. I'm wondering what's better: humane animal husbandry or "artificial" and highly processed foods?

A truly wonderful concept! 🐾 The staff is very friendly and attentive, and you feel welcome from the very beginning. A particularly positive aspect: The cats are treated with incredible love and respect – they seem very well-groomed, relaxed, and take their time choosing the people they want to cuddle or play with. We had a bowl – super delicious, well-seasoned, filling, and highly recommended. The rest of the menu also offers many exciting dishes at fair prices. We felt very comfortable – and so did the cats, obviously. 😊 We'll definitely be back! The only small point for improvement: The restrooms could be a bit nicer, but that doesn't detract from the positive overall impression at all. Highly recommended!

The waitresses were very friendly and tried their best, and you can tell they were doing their best. The food is delicious, but €17 for a small main course is quite substantial. Also, there are currently only four cats in the temple instead of six, but that could be forgiven if the place wasn't still packed with tables or if it continued to operate at full capacity. During our visit, it wasn't even particularly busy, but it was still very loud, and the four cats needed a lot of petting. I do think it's good that the staff look after the cats despite the stress of the restaurant and remind guests of the rules of conduct if, for example, they disturb the cats while they're sleeping.

The food is delicious, but the cats are completely overwhelmed. One cat was constantly being touched and harassed, even though it didn't want to be. It even tried to run away because it wanted some peace and quiet. There's another area at the front. It was put back into the crowd despite its resistance. The concept is extremely questionable, and anyone who supports it should reconsider.

The cats have plenty of places to escape if they feel threatened, to sleep comfortably and peacefully, but they also like to come down and play with the guests. The food is fresh, varied, delicious, and plentiful. We'll be back again and again!

We were here for the first time today. The food is amazing, and so is the concept. Fresh vegan food, and cats all around. 😍 We had a milkshake, fries (the fries are incredibly good thanks to their unusual cut), coleslaw, a burger, and a sandwich, including two salads. In other words, we went all out to try everything, as we always do when we visit somewhere for the first time, and paid €50. Everything was perfect. It was a bigger highlight than the show we had afterward in the planetarium.

We were completely thrilled. The staff accommodated all of our numerous special requests without a single complaint, always with a warm smile. The service was attentive, friendly, and authentic. The food was simply fantastic. We tried the entire dessert menu and reordered every single one because it was so delicious. From the quality to the presentation, everything was just perfect. A café that we can recommend with a clear conscience.

I ate a sandwich at the Katzentempel Bochum. It was prepared quickly, was fresh, and tasted excellent. The little paw on the plate is a particularly lovely touch. The tranquil atmosphere with the cats creates a unique experience.

The Cat Temple in Bochum is a truly cozy place. The ambiance is incredibly homely and lovingly crafted. We were incredibly lucky and were able to eat right next to a sleeping tiger. The food was vegan and delicious, even for people who aren't necessarily vegan. A few cats were in their relaxation room, but there were still plenty of furry companions around. The staff was super friendly. Because many of the guests were focused on the cats, you sometimes felt a bit watched when a cat came to you. It was a bit more expensive, but you're happy to pay for the relaxed atmosphere and the cute cats. All in all, a really lovely café that you should definitely visit.

The idea of a cat cafe is always charming. Unfortunately, this place is a huge letdown. There were only four/six cats in total, way too few for a “cat cafe.” Even worse, all of them were either sleeping or perched up on the wall. They’re all older cats, so probably not playful. You’d have to spend hours just sitting there, hoping one might come down for a second. The vibe is more like watching cats from a distance than actually being around them. The concept is great, but the execution is just poor.

The menu is confusing, and the cake selection is unusual. The terrace and connecting door were closed despite the warm weather. We had booked a table for 3:00 PM. We arrived on time and had to stand in the middle of the way for a long time because no table had been prepared, and tables and chairs had to be moved. When I arrived at the table, I received an angry email saying I hadn't shown up and that it wasn't possible. We had to wait a very long time before we could order. Two of us had dessert, which came before the main course—uncool with ice cream. The coleslaw I ordered with the main course was not acceptable in terms of value for money for my taste. It was exactly a forkful for €2.90. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. The empty dessert plates weren't cleared away when the main courses arrived. When it came to paying, things got really creative again. Additional side dishes were charged to the wrong customers, and even after repeatedly pointing this out, the waitress made no attempt to clarify the situation. Our bill included a drink that we hadn't ordered. We immediately complained politely and, of course, didn't pay for the meal. However, as we left the restaurant, we overheard a member of staff say, "That table noticed it." To which the colleague replied, "It doesn't matter to the next one!" Unfortunately, that's completely unacceptable. To say something positive: My meal was delicious, especially the dessert, and the ambiance was great. The service definitely needs to be improved.

The Cat Temple is centrally located in the pedestrian zone not far from the main train station. The café boasts a bright, inviting ambiance with plenty of wood, lovingly designed climbing areas, and retreats for the "temple cats." The animals generally seem very well-balanced and unobtrusive – so anyone worried about cats jumping on the table or disturbing their meal can rest easy. About the menu: All dishes are purely vegan – the menu includes homemade bread, sandwiches, bowls, burgers, cakes, and small snacks. We tried the temple sandwich and the rainbow bowl. Both were delicious, although the bowl could have used a little less dressing. The staff also made a very positive impression: friendly, attentive, and pleasantly unassuming. Overall, I would recommend the restaurant. Anyone who enjoys plant-based cuisine and enjoys having cats around should feel at home at the Cat Temple.

Visiting the cat temple for the first time, it was still very early in the evening and quite empty. I noticed that the tables were very close together. I would have found a bit more space more pleasant and cozy. The food is vegan, and they don't serve alcoholic beverages. The service was very friendly, chatty, and attentive. I had a slightly spicy chickpea curry, but it was moderately seasoned and unfortunately only lukewarm. After a short while, the food was reheated, which improved. It was okay, but the rice was still very hard. Then there was a piece of shell about 1 cm in size hidden in my food, which I almost bit into; it looked like a piece of coconut. It just wasn't my day. I was apologized for and got a cappuccino on the house. As for the cats, they seem well-groomed; there's a cat etiquette guide on how to treat them. Unfortunately, two cats were only seen a few times; they were probably hanging around in the back. The prices are on the high side for what's on offer.

This was my first visit to this cat café. I'd been following Katzentempel on Instagram for months and absolutely wanted to try it! The dishes, while a little pricey, are well worth the price, and the food is truly delicious, with generous portions. Everything is vegan and homemade, which is a particular plus. Each dish and drink are presented with care, making it even better! A special mention goes to the names of the dishes/drinks/desserts, which I find very funny and well thought out! 😉 The four-legged friends were napping when I came, so I didn't get to see them much. I really appreciated the list of rules regarding cats, which the staff gave us. It was logical, understandable, and non-binding. The atmosphere was very pleasant, the decor was really pretty, and everything was well thought out to make the cats feel comfortable. This gives me ideas for my future cat café project 🤭 Finally, the staff is very kind, helpful, and really cool. I was served lightning fast! I will definitely be back and highly recommend it!

The cats were very sweet and had their peace and quiet despite the large number of guests. One was very active and playful, probably still young. We reserved a table. A very nice experience. You don't find that everywhere.

We were there on Whitsun Sunday at 3:30 p.m. You should definitely make a reservation in advance, as the café is very popular. The staff, etc., are very friendly and efficient. The cats seem to be a bit more active around 12/1 p.m. and also at 5/6 p.m., as they wait for food. And the animals also become more alert towards the end of the day. It's amazing how lovingly designed the whole place is and how many options there are for the cats. The drinks were okay (although a bit pricey overall), and the iced chocolate was very sweet, as the vegan whipped cream is significantly sweeter and richer than cream made from cow's milk. The cakes were on display in a glass case, and the arranged plates also looked great. It's also a great place to go with children. We'll definitely come back again.
