Unfortunately there was no more space available, but the atmosphere was great.

We had dinner there with 11 people. It's a quaint restaurant decorated with old GDR-era decor. The menu is uniquely designed and written. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the service was very friendly. Anyone in Eisenach should definitely visit, but be sure to reserve a table beforehand.

The beef roulade was very tough, almost impossible to cut. ☹️ The dumplings and red cabbage, however, were VERY delicious. The presentation was absolutely phenomenal! 👍

Great place, recommended to me by locals during my rehab – unassuming from the outside, but fantastic inside. The food is very good (including a fun menu), the prices are very fair, and bringing my assistance dog was no problem (they even brought water 🙂). Highly recommended, I'll definitely be back.

We were absolutely thrilled with the atmosphere as soon as we walked in. The welcome was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, and we felt so comfortable that we stayed for quite a while. There's also a small play area for children. All in all, we'll definitely be back on our next visit to Eisenach.

The food arrived cold. The value for money was abysmal. The staff were only superficially friendly. Hardly anyone there can handle criticism. We won't be eating there again.

I wouldn't go here again; it's all show and no substance. The food wasn't properly heated. When I complained to the waitress, she downplayed it. In my opinion, the price/performance ratio is completely off. It's a shame; we were looking forward to a nice evening based on the reviews and were disappointed.

Prices are really reasonable. The Kartoffelhaus is well-known far beyond the borders of Eisenach. We'd gladly come again next time. Plenty of parking is available nearby.

I had a very delicious meal, my husband unfortunately had less luck (his food was too salty), but they reacted immediately and the waitress was super friendly! We'll still gladly come back.

Delicious German cuisine!!! The staff were very attentive and friendly at all times, even when the place was packed. The decor is fun, and there's something new to discover in every corner. We ended up there by chance while making a short trip to Eisenach. We would highly recommend it. I also recommend making a reservation, as even with us (two people), it was fully booked except for the cozy corner.

We got a table without a reservation, with the information that it would be needed shortly before 7 pm. No problem, we just wanted to eat and were happy to have a seat. The food was very good and the service very attentive. Highly recommended.

The atmosphere is simply indescribable; it's nostalgically decorated and, quite simply, very beautiful. The service was quick and relaxed. All in all, highly recommended. It's best to make a reservation, as it gets very busy.

We were passing through and found a great restaurant for lunch at the Kartoffelhaus (Potato House). Rustically furnished, lovingly decorated, and with delicious food that was absolutely perfect. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely stop by!

For our dinner at Kartoffelhaus, we received two vouchers for our next visit, each worth €2. "Redeemable only in conjunction with food and drinks." The very next day, we met up with friends again at Kartoffelhaus and enjoyed potato pancakes, potato balls, ice cream, beer, wine, and other drinks. Unfortunately, the two vouchers were not accepted because we didn't order a main course. However, the voucher terms and conditions don't explicitly state this. We found this incorrect and therefore not customer-friendly.

We were visiting Eisenach and happened to pass by the Kartoffelhaus. We were lucky to get a seat. The service and food were excellent. The atmosphere was fantastic. It's difficult to get a table without a reservation.

I'm thrilled! Such a pleasant ambiance, each room is individually and thoughtfully decorated, you never sit too close to other guests, and even hours later, you discover new, lovingly crafted details on the ceiling or walls. The service always had a warm smile on their faces, was courteous and friendly, and even special requests were fulfilled promptly. And the food was excellent. I've rarely experienced such a perfect all-round package.

Great restaurant with delicious food at good prices

The food was delicious. I went right when they opened, and even though the place was empty, maybe because I went alone, they gave me a small aisle table. Most of the staff wore glasses, so it's hard to tell who they were, but if I had asked for the bathroom just once more, I would have been in trouble. I asked twice, and they just yelled at me to go up. It was so scary. Don't expect friendly service, but if you just want the food, I recommend this place.

It's great that something like this still exists. Everything is just right: great service, a pleasant atmosphere, excellent, freshly prepared food, and reasonable prices. Even the menu is designed with originality. You're happy to wait a bit longer; it's not for fast-food restaurant goers. We'd love to come back soon, even if it's not around the corner.

A somewhat different kind of restaurant with really delicious food... naturally a bit loud due to the large number of visitors. We ate there on two evenings with different service each time... as far as possible, everyone was very attentive and focused on sales... whether vegetarian for my wife or animal-based for me, everything was super delicious.

We ate there twice, and both times we enjoyed our meals. You could eat your way through the menu. The service was very attentive, and the atmosphere was very rustic and cozy. Excellent value for money. We would definitely go back.

After our visit to Wartburg Castle, we went to the Kartoffelhaus because of the good reviews, and we were not disappointed! I tried to reserve a table for two for 6 p.m. a week in advance. Unfortunately, everything was already fully booked, but I was promised that we would still get a seat if we arrived right away at 5 p.m. Since we returned from the castle around 2 p.m., we walked our feet off for another three hours and saw so many beautiful things in Eisenach. When we arrived in front of the Kartoffelhaus at 5 p.m. sharp, there was already a queue of about 30 people. Nevertheless, we got the promised seat; the staff were exceptionally friendly despite the hustle and bustle, and the wait was absolutely OK. The atmosphere is truly cozy, and most importantly, the food was excellent! Home-style cooking in an absolutely unique setting. If we're ever in Eisenach again, I'll definitely make a reservation in good time so we can enjoy it again.

It's lovingly prepared and served in-house, which is what counts. Very good. For my taste, the ambiance is a bit too pretentious, but it creates a comfortable atmosphere. It's okay, just not quite my style. My only (real) criticism: The food arrived a bit too cool. The kitchen could have paid a bit more attention here. Nevertheless, the food gets 4 points.

The house-style consisted of plain fried potatoes in an omelet, I would have liked more creativity (e.g. vegetables, onions, bacon or slices of mettwurst), but otherwise everything was excellent.

A super original restaurant. The service was very friendly and fast! The food...well, maybe you shouldn't eat schnitzel there. The meat wasn't tender, and it was more like a child's schnitzel. The cream sauce was unfortunately lacking in flavor and bland. And when I get croquettes as a side dish at a potato restaurant, I was actually expecting homemade croquettes, not canteen croquettes. Almost €19 without a side salad is simply too much! I'd still give the place another chance.

A very interesting restaurant concept, everything made from potatoes. While in Thuringia, we wanted to sample something regional, and here we succeeded. The decor is amazing, almost like a museum, so you won't be bored waiting for your food. And the dishes themselves are delicious, well-seasoned, and appetizing. Although my goulash with red cabbage and traditional dumplings doesn't look appealing in the photos, it tastes heavenly. My husband had the schnitzel with two yaks and was also satisfied.

I can highly recommend the Kartoffelhaus. I spent a few days in Eisenach and ate there several times. I wasn't disappointed for a second. Everything was freshly prepared and served promptly. Unfortunately, I can't give it more stars.
