Wir haben dieses Music Cafe ganz spontan besucht als wir zufällig mal in Duisburg Ruhrort etwas zu erledigen hatten. Sah von aussen ein bisschen "na ja" aus aber das muss ja nichts heissen. Drinnen war es richtig voll, ganz viele Gäste dort, die meisten etwas gesetzteren Alters. Das Ambiente etwas abenteuerlich aber es hatte irgendwie was, hatte etwas afrikanisches an sich, war vor allem recht dunkel dort in der Lokation. Musik so mit afrikanischem Tach, klar der Egentümer, Wirt, was auch immer kommt aus dem Afrikanischen Kontinent. Etwas merkwürdig waren einige der Gäste, sehr distanciert. Man kannte uns nicht, war offenbar sehr vorsichtig. Schade, wir fanden es dort eigentlich nicht schlecht, fühlten uns aber irgendwie unerwünscht, gehörten offenbar nicht zu dem Klientel das dort verkehrt. Wollten dort auch etwas essen, hatten eine sehr bescheidene Speisekarte, vieles afrikanische Gerichte, hörte sich sehr gut an. Irgendwie gehörten wir aber nicht dort hin, so fühlten wir uns, sind nach einigen Getränken gegangen. Schade!

Bei der kulinarischen Schnitzeljagd in Duisburg war ich dort. Das Lokal ist wie die Kneipen früher, jetzt eben mit afrikanischer Deko; sehr urig. Das Essen ausgesprochen lecker. Ich werde nochmal hingehen.

Schöner Laden mit richtig Afrika Flair und netten Eigentümer

Getränkezubereitung hat etwas lange gedauert. Essen war hervorragend und das Personal war sehr freundlich.

Hält sich nicht an gesetzlich vorgeschriebene Ruhezeiten. Regelmäßig Krach und Geschrei am Wochenende bis in die frühen Morgenstunden.

Das Kalenda Music Café in Duisburg‑Ruhrort ist weit mehr als ein Restaurant – es ist ein Ort, an dem Herzlichkeit, Kultur und Genuss zu einem besonderen Erlebnis verschmelzen. Das Kalenda Music Café zeigt, wie viel Lebensfreude in gutem Essen, echter Gastfreundschaft und einem offenen Miteinander steckt. Ein Ort, der Duisburg bereichert – und den man nach dem ersten Besuch nicht mehr vergisst.

Es war mein erster Besuch und es gab an dem Tag Buffet. Auswahl war gut. Von verschiedenes Gemüse über Fisch und Hähnchen. Es war sehr sehr lecker. Die einzelnen Gerichte wurden vom Besitzer und von der Köchin erklärt, so dass man auch wusste, was man auf dem Teller packt 😉. Zeit mitbringen, es ist alles ein bisschen gemütlicher als in anderen Lokalen, das macht hier auch den Reiz aus.

Hier kann man sich wohlfühlen, die Inhaber sind sehr herzlich und jeder der offen und frei denkt sowie Spaß haben möchte ist dort richtig aufgehoben. Ich kann es nur jedem empfehlen verschiedene Events sowie Kochkurse etc. Werden auch regelmäßig angeboten.

Ein Lokal von einem sehr netten Team aus Afrika geführt. Sehr typisches Essen - wir waren mit einer großen Gruppe zum Buffetessen dort. Der Service war super freundlich, zum Start jedoch etwas "unsortiert", alles hat etwas länger gedauert. Aber das war halb so schlimm, das Essen hat es wieder gut gemacht. Wenn man die Zeit und die vlt nicht optimal gekühlten Getränke außer Acht lässt, war es ein schönes Erlebnis ein wenig in die Kultur einzutauchen. Da sich das Team aber samt Küche und deren Ausstattung gerade neu aufstellt, könnte man das zusätzlich noch nachvollziehen. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder. Achso: Parken ist in dieser Wohngegend absolute Glückssache. Plant das ggf für einen Besuch ein.

Spontan hier gewesen,da wir gerne mal Afrikanisch essen wollten. Sind mit soviel Herzlichkeit empfangen worden. Man hat uns das Essen erklärt und wir haben uns für zwei gemischte Platten entschieden. Einmal Hähnchen einmal Fisch plus Beilagen. Das Essen war sowas von lecker, dass ich eigentlich fast sagen würde. Ich würde gerne einmal die Woche dort essen gehen aber leider wohnen wir ein bisschen weit weg. Es werden aber auch Veranstaltungen am Wochenende gemacht, wo man ein Buffet hat mit Musik und tanzen also wirklich was empfehlen Wertes. Das Essen ist sowas von lecker und gut. Und mit viel Liebe zubereitet Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis Top, zwei Gerichte +2 Getränke unter 50 €. Wirklich eine Empfehlung, die ich nur aussprechen kann hier sollte man unbedingt hin. Gerne kommen wir wieder.

Truly delicious food and excellent service. The ambiance, while a bit understated, is honest and welcoming. Six of us had platters of fufu and cassava, and two people got extra chicken on their plates. The food was perfect and plentiful for everyone. The price was absolutely fantastic 👍

Wow! We're thrilled. Every bite was delicious, and the atmosphere was so warm and cozy.

Not anymore. I ordered chicken with rice as a snack last night. When asked what about my two companions, I said they were eating with me. I thought it was nice that they even brought extra plates and cutlery. It was a large portion. It was tasty, too. Then came the bill for food for €57.50 for three portions. But I had only ordered one portion. After a brief discussion, I actually paid for everything, which in retrospect was a mistake. I definitely should have only paid for what I ordered. I was completely ripped off here. I won't be cheated so blatantly again.

I had to hold back tears! The food was SO delicious and the service was incredibly friendly! It was my first time trying this type of food and it was all so different than anything I have ever tasted and it was all fantastic. We ordered the Fufu plate and the vegetable rice plate. Highly recommend!

A new star is born, a special kind of haylight restaurant in these difficult times. Even though much of it is improvisational, this is where great cuisine will be showcased in Duisburg-Ruhrort!

Fantastic bistro with a mix of food from Congo and Kenya! Be surprised by the variety of flavors, dishes, and preparations. The owners are incredibly friendly. You might even arrive while it's still quiet; treat yourself to a delicious cocktail. Highly recommended for its value for money. Easily accessible from the city center by tram or on foot. Expect loud, exciting African music.

We were there. It was unusual that there was no direct menu. I wasn't thrilled, but things turned out differently. There was something with fufu, rice, meat, or fish. We had someone with us who only eats vegan food. They suggested a vegetarian platter, meat, and fish. Basically, a bit of everything. Four different platters were then brought out: fish, chicken, and a larger selection of rice, fufu... It was great. Everyone could have anything. It was simply fantastic. A place like this should get more customers. One of my most delicious experiences in a long time. I'm not sure how much it cost. The three of us paid, I think, 115 euros. A few beers and three cocktails. It might have been around 25-30 euros per person.

You can order vegetarian/vegan but also meat dishes. It's definitely plenty. If you don't know anything about the food, everything will be explained to you.

Kalenda is a successful mix of restaurant and local pub. The atmosphere is relaxed and you quickly feel at home. This is not least due to the friendly staff, who put a lot of effort into explaining the dishes and taking attentive care of the guests. African cuisine is served without committing to a specific national cuisine. Everything I tried tasted very good and I was impressed. The dishes offer a wide range of flavors, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. Instead of a fixed menu, there are changing daily specials that are noted on a board. My complaint is that there were no prices noted on the board during my visits. In addition, the opening times are not always strictly adhered to. It has already happened to me that I was standing in front of a locked door at 5 p.m. The organizational weaknesses make the visit somewhat unpredictable, but the quality of the food makes up for it. Definitely worth a visit!

A really great bar/cafe/restaurant. My girlfriend and I come regularly. It doesn't matter whether we just have a drink or whether we are treated to typical African cooking by the boss or his wife. You always meet new, nice people there and the evening usually lasts until the early hours of the morning.

If you want delicious and authentic African food, you've come to the right place. You are immediately in another world. I love it. Paul and Rose are soooo lovely and warm people. I feel very comfortable in the KMC. Good music, lovely people, it doesn't matter where you come from. You can spend a lovely evening together with friends and strangers. Many a new acquaintance has already been made there.

Wow. Anyone who has never had African food is definitely missing out! It's been a long time since I've eaten something so tasty. Real soul food. Paul and his family are warm and you can see their love for African cuisine and culture. They have a great concept where you can eat your way through the delicious dishes to get to know everything first. And it tends to be longer on weekends. 😉 This was definitely not our last visit. I would give 10 stars if it were possible.

The restaurant is very unassuming from the outside and inside. But the food is super fresh and incredibly tasty! We'll definitely be back :)

Relaxed style in the middle of Duisburg Mega casual and relaxed restaurant with fantastic food. We were surprised and had the cook put together a delicious selection for us. We are/were thrilled. The bill was very cheap considering the variety and quality.

This little hidden place is a mixture of pub and restaurant... From the outside you could already tell that there would be good cuisine, when we entered we felt like we were in the 90s... The shop is in need of renovation, but somehow still inviting and cozy... The owner also explained that due to Corona, the renovation has not yet been completed and that they are working on it. So now to the owner, a very friendly, good-humoured guy, one of those people who make you feel like family, open and warm... There is a small selection of drinks, various beers and cocktails etc He also offered us African cocktails and beers, but unfortunately we couldn't try them for health reasons... but definitely next time.. Drinks were nice and cold with a slice of lemon, glasses were clean and service was quick... To eat The order was simple but detailed, there were various side dishes.. Plantain, yams, potatoes, 2 types of rice, 3 types of beans and 2 other roots, unfortunately I forgot the names.. The vegetables included various types of spinach and green vegetables Of course fufu couldn't be missing and onions etc. Everything was refined with ginger, chili, lime and many other traditional spices... You could choose chicken, fish and beef as a meat side dish. All of this is served on platters and in bowls... There was also peanut sauce and a very spicy one if desired, the hot sauce is refined with ginger and lime and gives a special kick..please try it Everything was served to us personally by the cook and she explained what it was and how it was prepared, we were a bit overwhelmed by the variety... This could have fed 4 people without any problems, and the leftovers were thankfully packed away for us... The cook was not only good at cooking but was also really nice... So, if you just want to immerse yourself in another world, with good food, great hosts and good music...just give it a try...now in the summer they also do boat trips with great music and good food, maybe that's an idea "We were thrilled... Very tasty restaurant. A different way to order. Each person at the table/group can choose between poultry/fish/lamb meat. The rest is put together by the chef and served family style at the table. Samosas are included and taste extremely good. ☺️💪🏻 We had some of every type of meat and I especially liked the fish. People with allergies should remember to mention this when ordering. There are then separate plates. We paid around €21 per person for the meal + €3 for cyclists

It was closed today, Sunday at 6 p.m. On Google Maps, on Facebook and on the opening times in front of the door it says that it should be open. We drove here for free.

Very friendly and lovingly furnished. We got a delicious vegan mixed plate with fufu, cassava, African spinach, plantain, vegetable rice, beans, peanut sauce... it was delicious and not too spicy (hot sauce was offered, however). A great change in vegan gastronomy. African cooking classes and dance evenings/festivals are also organized.

Ein mega tolles Bistro mit afrikanischer Musik und afrikanischen Essen . Wenn ihr mal in Duisburg seit besucht unbedingt dieses coole kleine Restaurant. Angefangen von gezaubert coolen Cocktails über eine breite Auswahl Alkoholischer und nicht Alkoholischer Getränke über leckeres traditionelles Afrikanisches Essen . Fisch , Fleisch alles was euer Herz begehrt . In lockerer Atmosphäre empfängt euch hier ein Kleinod.

Wir hatte eigentlich reserviert für ein Geburtstag am Telefon. Leider ist unsere Reservation irgendwie untergegangen aber das war kein Problem die beiden war sehr Freundlich. Haben uns Trozdem etwas leckeres Gezaubert. Wir waren mit dem Essen sehr begeistert es war sehr lecker und sehr gut authentisch afrikanisch. Wir konnten uns mit dem Paar das den Laden führt sehr freundlich unterhalten. Die beiden sind sehr gastfreundlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder hier her.

Ein sehr gemütlicher Ort, der einem zeigt, dass man nicht viel benötigt, um Freude und Lust auf's Leben zu machen. Das Essen war wirklich lecker, abwechslungsreich und die Portionen so groß, dass man sie nicht schafft. Habe mir selbst eine zur Verfügung gestellte Box mit den "Resten" füllen können, die ich wollte. Es ist wirklich zu schade dieses gute Essen weg zu werfen. Der junge Mann, der sich um uns gekümmert hat, war freundlich, hilfsbereit und auch für ein Gespräch offen. Es ist ein kleines Lokal, dafür aber voll mit Herzlichkeit. Ich empfehle es jedem. Wer auf Schickimicki steht, wird sich daran gewöhnen müssen. Alle anderen werden es bestimmt genauso toll finden, wie ich. Danke an die Köchin und das ganze Team. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Das Kalenda Music Café ist der alte 'Ruhrorter Hof', der von außen in der Schimanski-Tatort Folge 'Der Tausch' zu sehen ist. Eine Speisekarte gibt es nicht. Der Inhaber informiert über das Tagesangebot. Meist hat man die Wahl zwischen Fisch (der Tilapia ist köstlich) oder Fleisch oder Vegetarisch. Dazu gibt es dann diverse Beilagen: Cassavas, Cassava-Blätter, Gemüsereis, Salat, Bohnen, Kochbananen, Spinat, Fufu, Erdnusssauce, Samosas, ... Je nachdem, was gerade da ist. Das Essen ist einfach köstlich! Auf jeden Fall ausprobieren! Es gibt keinen Außenbereich.

Unglaublich grosse Verkaufspalette. Alle bekannten Kleidungslabel sind vertreten. Sehr nettes und kompetentes Personal . Kein bisschen arrogant....

Super nette Betreiber. Herzlicher Empfang und ein super leckeres Essen. Für einen Abend auf der Durchreise war das ein echter Glücksgriff.

Döner? Nein! Falafel? Nein! Pizza? Nein! Fufu, Maniok, Aloko Afrikanisch. Die Jahrelange Erfahrung im Kochen und zubereiten von Afrikanischen Speisen aus dem Zentralafrikanischen Gürtel von Ost bis West. Sehr empfehlenswert

Netter Gastgeber, tolles Essen!

Auf die Empfehlung vertraut und nicht enttäuscht, sondern begeistert. Hier wird Fleisch und Fisch, obwohl lecker zubereitet, fast nur zur Nebensache bei solch leckeren Beilagen. Von allem kann man nachbekommen, aber die Portionen sind schon so reichhaltig, das niemand hungrig nach Hause geht:) Dazu die vielfach erwähnte nette Bewirtung. Da fühlt sich der Gast willkommen und geht mit einem guten Gefühl nach Hause. Danke dafür

Sehr ungewöhnliche Location. Wir haben den Laden auf Empfehlung hin besucht. Der Chef, der gleichzeitig auch der Koch ist, kam persönlich an den Tisch um sein Tagesgericht vorzustellen. Es war sehr lecker, wirklich empfehlenswert.

Ser angenehmer aufenthaltsort, Auswahl an Getränken ist gut. Leider etwas zu wenige Sitzplätze. Aber dafür eine provisorische Tanzfläche, die es wieder gut macht.
