Journal - American Food & Bar in Rodgau

I visited the Journal in Rodgau for the first time to try a burger. Unfortunately, I personally wasn't entirely convinced by the burger: despite my desire for medium, the meat was too well done, the bun was too dry, and overall I found the burger seasoned a bit too mildly for my taste. However, this is a subjective assessment, and apart from that, there are many good reasons to visit the restaurant. The atmosphere is really nice and invites you to linger. I was particularly impressed by the large selection of drinks, which offers something for every taste. The staff was also very attentive and friendly, which made the stay pleasant. Despite my small criticisms, I can recommend the journal and will definitely come back again to try other dishes!

As always, it was super tasty. We'll be back.

I was there on my birthday and was really looking forward to the burger as I had very fond memories of it. Unfortunately the burger was cold, the bacon was very hard, the meat was cold and somehow there was no sauce. Unfortunately there was no taste of juiciness. That was a shame. The waitress accommodated us with the price (hence the reduced price below), but the disappointment was there and we left very quickly. No towels in the toilet. I wasn't used to that from the journal. :-(

Tasty, large portions, not cheap but worth every penny. But you should reserve a table

The food is very good - no question about it. However, overpriced for the rather rural location of the restaurant. I wonder whether it is responsible to turn away hungry guests a good hour before closing time. Why doesn't the sign in front of this restaurant say "Opening times: 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m." when the kitchen closes?! That would have been helpful. I think that in the catering industry you should be very friendly with your guests and not reject them hastily and abruptly! Unfortunately, I won't be eating there again and can't recommend this place for now.

We were there as a small group. Unfortunately there was only a shortened menu for us.

Very tasty spare ribs and a great burger with delicious home-made fries and colesaw salad. The service was very friendly and nice, the place was full, so you should reserve a table. Highly recommended.

Familienbetrieb mit Tradition. Chef mit Leib und Seele Koch und seine sympathische Frau am Tresen. Gestern zum Oktoberfest eine kleine Karte mit sehr vielen Leckereien. Alle Speisen sind zu empfehlen und mit Liebe zubereitet. Besonders der Kaiserschmarren 👍

Yesterday was Oktoberfest. Very good food… The atmosphere was really good, we danced a lot. We also have DJ Alfred to thank for that. He simply rocked the place, he played a variety of music, it never got boring. Many thanks to the team, especially DJ Alfred for the wonderful evening. We'll be there again next year

Our burger was very tasty and so were the fries and salad. Price performance is 100 percent right here 👍 what I would improve on the burger would be to put a little more sauce on it, I found the burger to be of very high quality in terms of ingredients but a bit too dry. We would still like to come by again. Best regards

Went there spontaneously to eat. There was also a table for 2 straight away. The burgers were great, the coleslaw was super tasty, the ketchup tasted very much like pure tomatoes. The burgers were delicious, service was very good.

Leckere Burger, ich hatte den Lava Burger (flambier) und damit von aussen zerlaufendem Käse. Meine Frau hatte einen vegetarischen Burger der einen guten Geschmack hatte (relativ ähnlich richtigem Fleisch). Praktisch: Direkt vor dem Haus hat es auch zwei Ladeplätze für eAutos.

Extremely tasty, highly addictive...we called and made a reservation with a baby, when we arrived there was already a high chair at the table and in the shade, the service is top class, as is the food...we'll definitely be back

Fantastic BBQ Experience – A must for meat lovers! I had the pleasure of visiting the Journal recently and it was without a doubt one of the best BBQ experiences I've ever had. From the warm welcome to the last bite - everything was just perfect. The food: The meat quality is outstanding. No matter whether it was juicy ribs, tender pulled pork or the perfectly grilled brisket - every piece of meat was cooked to perfection and had that incomparable smoky taste that you expect from a good BBQ. I was particularly impressed by the selection of homemade sauces, which take the taste experience to a new level. The side dishes weren't to be sniffed at either - the creamy coleslaw and the crispy sweet potato fries are highly recommended. The service: The service was excellent. The staff is attentive, friendly and always willing to make recommendations. You can tell that the work here is done with passion and attention to detail. Even when the house was full, you always felt well looked after. The ambience: The restaurant exudes a cozy, rustic atmosphere that fits perfectly with a BBQ restaurant. The furnishings are lovingly designed and the relaxed, inviting atmosphere makes the visit a real feel-good experience. Conclusion: Journal is a must for every BBQ fan. Here you not only get fantastic food, but also an all-round successful experience. I will definitely come back and highly recommend it to everyone!

It's very cozy here. The food is absolutely amazing. The staff is very good.

Unfortunately we were unlucky yesterday too... The waitress overlooked us for 20 minutes and when we waved her over, she argued with us: we had just sat down. When we pointed out that we were there at 7 p.m. sharp, she said: no, that wouldn't be true (that kind of behavior isn't acceptable towards customers). Many others who came after us were served beforehand. It's a shame, the food looked very good from a distance. But after a water and a beer we decided to eat somewhere else. The bill was also charged twice as much, and when asked I received a meek “You’re right”.

I am very dissatisfied...if you could give 0 stars, that would be justified. The food wasn't good and the staff is very unfriendly.

Unfortunately the waitress was alone and the store was full. The toilet paper was empty in all the toilets. Service is still friendly.

By far the best burgers in the entire area. We'll come back for dinner anytime, keep it up.

I always went there to eat on my birthday until the last one. Seated 2 people at a table about 30x60cm, although there weren't many people and there were also larger tables available. You can only drink beer there, but not eat. The waitress was totally unfriendly and my arms almost burned off when she lit the steak. In the end I pulled another table over to us and only then could I finally eat. The food was ok but service is disastrous. Ruined my whole birthday mood. Never there again.

Great location and very tasty food

The food looked very tasty. However, I was only there for a cafe. A great restaurant with a great ambience. I will definitely eat something next time. There are parking spaces in front of the door. Unfortunately it is only partially barrier-free. The toilets are located downstairs and can only be reached via stairs. The waitresses were super nice. The service was quick.

I thought we would treat ourselves to something for Sunday and so I commissioned the Journal delivery service. The ordering process is really great in the app. What bothers me is the whopping €2 delivery fee, even for an order of over €40 for 2 salads and 1 pulled pork fries and that for a distance of 350 m, which annoys me every time. Ok, I knew beforehand so far so good. I ordered 2x marinated Caesar salad with chicken in a cornflake coating. It was a disaster to say the least. The salad probably went past the marinade. The app doesn't say anything about tomatoes and red onions, which neither my husband nor I eat. I chose this salad because it wasn't there. The salad was dry, contained things we didn't want and the meat was cold. With a distance of 350 m and the price, I would have expected something different. So no, never order again.

I would never have believed that I would probably get the best burger in Rodgau. However, the Smash Mac and Cheese Burger completely convinced me. The rest of the menu is also great. The cocktails, such as the strawberry daiquiri, are freshly mixed and served (with real strawberries!). Service is always friendly, the atmosphere is nice and the food is excellent 👌

First of all: we have eaten here a few times and have always been satisfied. Unfortunately, on our last visit we had a complaint that the waitress could not resolve to our satisfaction. Unfortunately I couldn't eat my food that day, but I still had to pay for it. I then wrote a review and presented my point of view. The owners of the journal contacted me afterwards and asked to visit again so that they could apologize, as unfortunately a lot went wrong that evening and unfortunate coincidences came together. We were there today, the owners apologized to us and we ate there. This time (as before, except last time) everything was great with the food, it was delicious, the service was very good and friendly. Many thanks to the Journal Team for the compensation and contact. We'd love to come back. Due to today's visit, I have changed the review to a positive one, as mistakes can of course always be made and things don't always go perfectly. It is important that the customer receives an apology if something goes wrong and that is definitely the case here.

Very nice restaurant. We went to the all you can eat spare ribs on Sunday. It was very delicious. The side dishes were also super tasty and the price was right too. Any time.

Nice pub - good American bar food; There is simply better beer than Glaabsbräu

I've been to this store 3 times now and I've waited almost 2 hours for my food twice and the waitresses didn't respond to it, let alone give an excuse for the food being late. Of course, I gave the store another chance on February 9th, 2021 and ordered the steak from the special menu on Tuesday, which included fries and salad for 15.80. However, I only got the standard steak, without the fries and salad. I then called there to complain that there were no fries or salad. However, the answer was: "That there would be no special menus outside the house. I said that that wasn't available anywhere and they replied: "That's just the way it is and it would only apply to the house." Once again there was no accommodating one also didn't admit that it wasn't available anywhere. In my opinion, it's up to me to get this dish. But it's also funny that unfortunately you can't eat in the house at the moment, but this menu is still being offered, which is unfortunately just God's goodness It's a joke and a rip-off. For me it's definitely a no-go store that I'll never set foot in again.

Attentive, friendly service. Good food, nice atmosphere

Burger was OK but nothing special. The 'fries' served with it are probably something for lovers. For me they would be too 'sticky, dry, tasteless, cold' Ambiance fits. Service quick, friendly and unobtrusive. The menu offers a lot of choice and I will definitely find something that suits me better next time I visit.

It's pretty cozy/chill there. Unfortunately, two of the four meals were not even slightly seasoned. So not really tasty either. When asked by the waitress if everything was OK. Let's say that two foods are not seasoned. Then the operation... it's better to have too little than too much. (It's not possible to answer like that) The potato chips really had no taste at all. And the plates were clearly too full. (I don't think that's possible, but that's a matter of taste.

The food was good, but unfortunately some of the spare ribs were dry. Everyone ordered their own dish and as usual everyone tried each one. We all found it very unfriendly and dismissive that the waitress withheld further helpings from those with the all-you-can-eat spare ribs. With the sentence “it was seen that you were sharing the food, so you won't get a second helping - Important: there were around 3-4 spareribs that were tried) WITHOUT pointing out in advance that trying the ribs is undesirable or unwelcome.

Was in the journal on my birthday. Reservation in advance is easy. The service is 1a. Especially through the employees. Maybe a tick too loud. The food was good as always. All in all, a good thing. Absolute recommendation.

The fact that you can hardly get a table on weekends and even during the week without a reservation speaks for itself.

Spareribs all you can eat on Sunday can only be recommended, it was very tasty and the service was nice.

Wir haben das erste mal zum Liefern bestellt und machen dies garantiert nicht wieder. Essen kam lauwarm bei uns an. Mein Mac beef war eine einzige Pampe. Das Gemüse total matschig und die Beefstreifen sehr zäh. Geschmacklich dadurch unterirdisch schlecht !! Den Hackbraten mussten wir erst einmal in der Mikrowelle auf eine essbare Temperatur erhitzen. Geschmacklich war er dann deutlich besser als der Mac beef, aber weit weg davon wie es vor Ort schmeckt.Für beide Essen haben wir satte 31.-€ bezahlt. Wir wohnen in Jügesheim, also dort wo auch das Journal zu Hause ist !!! Unsere nächst Bestellung wird wieder dort sein wo das gelieferte Essen schmeckt und deutlich preiswerter ist.

Auch heute als wir den Lieferdienst ausprobiert haben muss gesagt werden das die junge Fahrerin mega freundlich mit einer lobenswerten Ausstrahlung vor der Tür stand und das in einem angemessenen Zeitrahmen. Essen war wieder toll..frisch..warm...nicht aufgeweicht in umweltfreundlichen Verpackungen... ein Riesen LOB an das Journal Rodgau..diese Gastronomie gehört zu meinen Favoriten. Tolles Lokal, suuuuuper Essen Z. B. Spareribs super gewürzt, fallen direkt vom Knochen) aber alles einfach fantastisch. Sehr zu empfehlen. Personal super freundlich und flott.

Auch heute (23.12.22) wieder sehr sehr nette Bedienung! Haben gleich dem kleinen was zum malen gebracht und sich gut um ihn gekümmert. Habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt. ♥️ Waren heute wieder da und mir ist sehr positiv die Bedienung aufgefallen. Sehr zuvorkommen und hat immer an alles gedacht! Das Journal ist ein Highlight in Rodgau wie ich finde. Sehr nettes Personal. Essen sehr lecker, vor allem sind die Patties frisch und nicht frozen. Die Spare Ribbs sind extrem lecker! Trifft meinen Geschmack sehr. Wäre nur toll, wenn das Lokal größer wäre, damit man auch spontan ohne Reservierung Platz finden kann, aber das wäre Meckern auf hohem Niveau. Rundum sehr gelungen.

Ich war dort mit meiner Freundin essen Der Service war super nett kommen wir aber zum negativen. Wir hatten beide den pulled pork Burger und auf beiden Burger war fast bis garkein Fleisch sodass wir dachten wir essen einen Gemüse Burger. Pommes waren gut. Wir werden nicht wieder kommen

Waren Sonntag Abend zu viert da. Laden war rammelvoll (Sonntag gibt es Spareribs all you can eat). Trotzdem waren die Bedienungen nicht nur auf Zack sondern auch super nett. Da fühlt man sich gleich willkommen! Das Essen hat auch keine 30 min. gedauert und war absolut top (Burger, Clubsandwich usw.) Wir sagen Danke und drohen mit Wiederkommen. Leider kann man nur 5 Sterne geben - 6 wären angemessen!

Das Essen war mega lecker und auch unserer kleinen Maus hat es gut geschmeckt. Leider war unser Glas öfters leer ohne wahrgenommen zu werden und unsre Kleine musste am Längsten auf ihr Essen warten. Sind nur Kleinigkeiten, deswegen kommen wir gerne wieder.
