John Benton in Ulm is a popular place for steak lovers, but unfortunately the quality of the steak is only mediocre. The selection of steaks is good and the preparation is usually done to order, but the meat sometimes lacks the special flavor that you would expect from a really good steak. The quality of the meat varies depending on the dish, so not every steak reaches the same high standard. The ambience of the restaurant is attractive and cozy, with modern furnishings that create a pleasant atmosphere. The food was very tasty and everything was right, unfortunately the service was not, we had to eat under time pressure and only had 90 minutes until the next guests arrived. We didn't want to charge for dessert and the table was cleared while people were still eating at the table. The boss told us that we would have to wait for the next one, but the table remained empty for about 20 minutes. .....that's not possible and we won't go there anymore. ....

Yesterday we had dinner with 4 people Table reserved for 6.30 p.m., we were there at 6 p.m., then we ordered and were suddenly told that we had 1.5 hours to eat, they were fully booked! After the second main course, the first 1.5 hours passed At dessert, the waitress came while we were eating and wanted to give us the bill because supposedly the next 4 people were waiting, but we didn't see anyone We left the hall at 8:15 p.m. and the other four people arrived at 8:30 p.m Impudence to want to go out to eat and do so under time pressure Never again, unfortunately you can't do less than one star!!

Always my pleasure! Great steak, great service. Some of the tables are so close together that you can't avoid having to listen to the conversation from the next table and feel like you're sitting at the table with strangers!

One of my favorite steak house. The dishes taste great, the meat is of good quality and looks good. My favorite is the large salad and the spare ribs. The garlic bread that comes with it is also great. I'd love to come back.

The John Benton Steakhouse really impressed us! The steaks were perfectly cooked and incredibly tasty. The side dishes were also fresh and went well with it. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We'll definitely be back!

January 22nd will be our last visit. The soup wasn't hot enough and the cheese and bread on the onion soup weren't toasted enough. The quality of the steak wasn't worth the price, the rib eye steak I ordered was too dry. The service staff has no enthusiasm for service and does not care about guests' feedback. The John Benton of ten years ago was so much better!

We have been there many times on vacation and have always been extremely satisfied. This year we had the feeling that the service was stressed and a small complaint about the steak was simply ignored. And if we would like to reserve a place in the small adjoining room, that is not possible.

It's been a long time since we've eaten here again and I have to say we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious, the service was also very friendly, we got a seat quickly and the atmosphere was also very pleasant. The only small flaw in the service is that perhaps we should have checked a little more often to see if the guest wanted something, but otherwise I can't complain and would recommend the John Benton branch in Ulm.

The food was ok, a lot of it wasn't really warm and the service wasn't really motivated. So if you come in a group, it's important to respond to everyone and not just ask one person for a drink and then disappear straight away. Clearing up when others are still eating isn't so pleasant. It's a shame given the prices.

Not every table is ideally placed keep that in mind (try to find a table further back). Overall great food, great taste, grilled as requested and friendly staff. Would recommend

We weren't greeted very nicely at reception - the woman was in a hurry and threw the menu on the table. The meat was a little tough.

Attentive service staff and food very tasty. There were eight of us as guests and everyone was happy, even me as a vegetarian. The children's portion of fries were huge, we were all happy. My wife loves the spare ribs here.

The steaks were much better here. Unfortunately, the garlic bread was also quite disappointing. I won't be going there again anytime soon.

Wir waren gestern zu 10 bei John Benton essen, mein 40 nachfeiern. Das bestellte Steak kam obwohl durch bestellt sehr blutig man konnte dieses Fleisch nur sehr schlecht runterbekommen die Beilage Gemüse hat absolut nach nichts geschmeckt ich konnte geschmacklich nicht erkennen was ich da genau esse, auch bei den anderen war das essen kaum angerûhrt worden, spare ripps kaum durch, Geschnetzeltes ungenießbar, war der Bedienung aber sowieso egal es wurde niemand gefragt ob es geschmeckt hat. Die Chefin macht ein Eindruck als ob sie gleich das Handtuch werfen würde, schaut sauer in die Runde. Also ich habe mir den Abend leider anders vorgestellt, und wir werden sicher alle nicht mehr so schnell wiederkommen.

The food isn't what it used to be! But what has remained the same is the unfriendly reception from the branch management! You don't feel welcome. That was our last visit here.

Ribs (briefly cooked) with a lovely sauce, flabby garlic baguette, ketchunp/mayonnaise in plastic bottles, slightly annoyed wait staff, rather disappointing and not recommended

On the first visit I ordered filet and that's what I got. On the second visit, the fillet I ordered was also as desired. On the third visit, I received a rump steak in response to my fillet order and three times in a row. I was sold poor quality meat as fillet. This is deliberate deception.

The kitchen knows what it's doing: the food was really first class and the ambience is also up to par. We spent a lovely evening here as a group and will definitely come back.

The food was delicious and the service was very friendly! We asked for a table at short notice and were actually able to get seats! The food came pretty quickly and was exactly as we ordered it. No problem at all, even with a toddler and stroller!

The "Peppers" was a dream! The meat was cooked to perfection and the pepper sauce was simply indescribable. I was thrilled by the combination of the tender meat structure and the intense seasoning. The ambience of the steakhouse rounded off the dining experience.

Update 2024 – Always happy! At the end of our Germany tour, we spent our lunch break here again - already our sixth visit! Sometimes it was better, sometimes less, but this time it was really good again. We were looked after very friendly and enjoyed the food. We would be happy to come back. ---- After a few years we were in Ulm again and were really happy to eat here. We weren't disappointed today either. It's just always nice to be here. We are particularly impressed that the doneness of the food is done perfectly every time, and the garlic bread on the side is also fantastic. Thank you for the warm hospitality!

A pleasant place, large portions, fair price and courteous service, but my spareribs were too dry and the bbq sauce was too commercial, allowed and boring.

Ich bat, den Tisch mit einem bequemeren zu tauschen, weil die Stühle schrecklich und unbequem sind. die Managerin des Saals oder der Chef sagte nein. (es gab einen Tisch nebenan frei) Ich stehe auf und sage, dass ich für die Getränke bezahlen möchte, die ich gebeten hatte, weil es für mich unmöglich war, stundenlang in diesem Stuhl zu sitzen. Die Dame schreit mich an und ärgert mich und sagt mir, dass ich die Gerichte bezahlen musste, die ich die Sekunden vorher reserviert hatte, weil sie die Pol anrufen würde. Ich habe noch nie so eine Erfahrung gemacht, ich fühle mich gedemütigt und diskriminiert gefühlt, die Dame war unhöflich rassistisch und aggressiv. NIE WIEDER

Ribs taste nice and price performance ratio is good

Very good steaks and delicious side dishes. Friendly and courteous waiter. You have a direct view of the kitchen where the steaks are grilled, and if the steak is still too raw you can tell the waiter to put it on again. The rib-eye steak is highly recommended.

Great value for money! The portion sizes and the price and taste are consistent. The staff is very friendly and even child-friendly. Unfortunately the facility is a bit outdated. All in all I give it 4 stars. We'd love to come back!

Service is a bit slow but it’s Europe so would definitely eat here again. I gotta rib eye steak with a fully loaded baked potato and it was amazing. It also came with some garlic bread and I ordered a side salad. Everything was very good.

Had a very tasty steak.. perfectly done. The side dishes were also great! Staff, service is top. But please replace Afri Cola. Coca Cola or Pepsi. You'd rather drink the original. Still definitely deserves 5*.

Rude staff completely unable to respond to special situations. The food last time wasn't bad but with the staff I wouldn't go there again. In this form you don't have to talk to the guests even if you think you're right - that's called service-oriented and de-escalating. But what I found was unprofessional.

Went there for dinner today. Meat wasn't good at all for both of us, the quality has clearly deteriorated. It's a shame, we always enjoyed going there. Luckily there are other restaurants nearby. For over €60 you can and can expect more.

Here pork loin steak with country potatoes. Food was ok. Just please add extra sour cream in the future, otherwise the potatoes underneath will get soggy. 😉

Seit es das Restaurant John Benton in Ulm gibt, gehe ich sehr gerne dort essen. Zum größten Teil war ich auch immer zufrieden. Bei unserem letzten gebuchten Besuch war das Fleisch leider von übelster Qualität. Zäh und nochmals zäh und das durchgängig am kompletten Tisch. Wir haben der Servicekraft unser Anliegen mitgeteilt und wir durften auch prompt einen Ersatz wählen. Danke an dieser Stelle. Nur leider war der Ersatz in Teilen auch nicht viel besser. Das Fleisch war einfach zäh und und von schlechter Qualität. Das Verständnis der Restaurantleitung war leider nicht wirklich vorhanden. Sehr schade. Und nein, uns konnte man an diesem Abend tatsächlich nicht zufriedenstellen. Und heute und morgen mit Sicherheit auch nicht mehr, da wir vermutlich so schnell nicht wieder kommen werden. Etwas mehr Freundlichkeit und vielleicht eine Weiterbildung in Sachen Kritikfähigkeit und Kundenorientierung, würde ich hier sehr empfehlen. Einfach wegdrehen, wenn die Kundschaft das Lokal verlässt, ist natürlich auch eine Möglichkeit. Alles Gute John Benton Ulm!

Since the John Benton restaurant opened in Ulm, I have enjoyed eating there. For the most part, I was always satisfied. Unfortunately, on our last booked visit, the meat was of the worst quality. Tough and tough again and consistently throughout the entire table. We informed the service staff of our concerns and we were promptly allowed to choose a replacement. Thank you at this point. Unfortunately, the replacement wasn't much better in parts. The meat was just tough and old. Unfortunately, the restaurant management didn't really have any understanding. Very unfortunate. And no, they actually couldn't satisfy us that evening. And certainly not today or tomorrow either, as we probably won't be coming back any time soon. I would highly recommend a little more friendliness and perhaps further training in critical skills and customer orientation. Simply turning away when the customers leave the restaurant is of course also an option. All the best John Benton Ulm!

Everything cost extra. Not very flexible approach to personal changes. Total sum gets high.
