John Benton in Ulm

The "Peppers" was a dream! The meat was cooked to perfection and the pepper sauce was simply indescribable. I was thrilled by the combination of the tender meat structure and the intense seasoning. The ambience of the steakhouse rounded off the dining experience.

Update 2024 – Always happy! At the end of our Germany tour, we spent our lunch break here again - already our sixth visit! Sometimes it was better, sometimes less, but this time it was really good again. We were looked after very friendly and enjoyed the food. We would be happy to come back. ---- After a few years we were in Ulm again and were really happy to eat here. We weren't disappointed today either. It's just always nice to be here. We are particularly impressed that the doneness of the food is done perfectly every time, and the garlic bread on the side is also fantastic. Thank you for the warm hospitality!

A pleasant place, large portions, fair price and courteous service, but my spareribs were too dry and the bbq sauce was too commercial, allowed and boring.

Ribs taste nice and price performance ratio is good

Very good steaks and delicious side dishes. Friendly and courteous waiter. You have a direct view of the kitchen where the steaks are grilled, and if the steak is still too raw you can tell the waiter to put it on again. The rib-eye steak is highly recommended.

Great value for money! The portion sizes and the price and taste are consistent. The staff is very friendly and even child-friendly. Unfortunately the facility is a bit outdated. All in all I give it 4 stars. We'd love to come back!

Visited here for the first time today. Our food was delicious and the service was very good. One of the waiters was very kind and fulfilled all our wishes. The location is also great, with a very nice view of the Rathaus. Thank you very much!

Service is a bit slow but it’s Europe so would definitely eat here again. I gotta rib eye steak with a fully loaded baked potato and it was amazing. It also came with some garlic bread and I ordered a side salad. Everything was very good.

Unfortunately the steaks were more English, even though they were ordered medium. But otherwise really good.

Wir gehen seit 20 Jahren immer gerne ins Benton und sind noch nie enttäuscht worden. Preis/ Leistung ist fair und das Fleisch definitiv besser als bei den bekannten Steakhäusern.

Had a very tasty steak.. perfectly done. The side dishes were also great! Staff, service is top. But please replace Afri Cola. Coca Cola or Pepsi. You'd rather drink the original. Still definitely deserves 5*.

Definitely a place to visit if you like steak. One of the best places to get steak around. Prices are actually good too.

Rude staff completely unable to respond to special situations. The food last time wasn't bad but with the staff I wouldn't go there again. In this form you don't have to talk to the guests even if you think you're right - that's called service-oriented and de-escalating. But what I found was unprofessional.

Went there for dinner today. Meat wasn't good at all for both of us, the quality has clearly deteriorated. It's a shame, we always enjoyed going there. Luckily there are other restaurants nearby. For over €60 you can and can expect more.

Here pork loin steak with country potatoes. Food was ok. Just please add extra sour cream in the future, otherwise the potatoes underneath will get soggy. 😉

I can't say much, just had a salad and turkey steak. The house dressing is not mine, I didn't like it at all. The selection and quantity of salad is completely okay. The meat was also good and the herb butter was delicious. Each dish also comes with a garlic baguette. It's tasty but it was too much for me. I paid around 25 euros including the drink.

The best baked potato in Ulm! Meat is not high end but good value for money. Tastes delicious and is always worth eating. You can sit comfortably outside on the market square, which is also a plus point.

Seit es das Restaurant John Benton in Ulm gibt, gehe ich sehr gerne dort essen. Zum größten Teil war ich auch immer zufrieden. Bei unserem letzten gebuchten Besuch war das Fleisch leider von übelster Qualität. Zäh und nochmals zäh und das durchgängig am kompletten Tisch. Wir haben der Servicekraft unser Anliegen mitgeteilt und wir durften auch prompt einen Ersatz wählen. Danke an dieser Stelle. Nur leider war der Ersatz in Teilen auch nicht viel besser. Das Fleisch war einfach zäh und und von schlechter Qualität. Das Verständnis der Restaurantleitung war leider nicht wirklich vorhanden. Sehr schade. Und nein, uns konnte man an diesem Abend tatsächlich nicht zufriedenstellen. Und heute und morgen mit Sicherheit auch nicht mehr, da wir vermutlich so schnell nicht wieder kommen werden. Etwas mehr Freundlichkeit und vielleicht eine Weiterbildung in Sachen Kritikfähigkeit und Kundenorientierung, würde ich hier sehr empfehlen. Einfach wegdrehen, wenn die Kundschaft das Lokal verlässt, ist natürlich auch eine Möglichkeit. Alles Gute John Benton Ulm!

Since the John Benton restaurant opened in Ulm, I have enjoyed eating there. For the most part, I was always satisfied. Unfortunately, on our last booked visit, the meat was of the worst quality. Tough and tough again and consistently throughout the entire table. We informed the service staff of our concerns and we were promptly allowed to choose a replacement. Thank you at this point. Unfortunately, the replacement wasn't much better in parts. The meat was just tough and old. Unfortunately, the restaurant management didn't really have any understanding. Very unfortunate. And no, they actually couldn't satisfy us that evening. And certainly not today or tomorrow either, as we probably won't be coming back any time soon. I would highly recommend a little more friendliness and perhaps further training in critical skills and customer orientation. Simply turning away when the customers leave the restaurant is of course also an option. All the best John Benton Ulm!

We have been guests at the John Benton Steakhouse for almost 30 years and are always thrilled. The quality of the food has never decreased over the years and the service is still friendly, competent and courteous!!

Everything cost extra. Not very flexible approach to personal changes. Total sum gets high.

Just judge how well done the meat is, I've read some reviews and it seems they always undercook it. If I wanted a medium I'd have ordered it. Well done is medium Medium is rare Rare is probably the cow? Who knows.

Gut und preiswert viel gutes Fleisch essen!

Ich bin noch nie in meinem Leben, so schlecht bedient worden. Es war richtig unverschämt, so dass meine 10 jährige Tochter (!) angefangen hat zu weinen, weil sie Angst vor der Bedienung hatte. Ich hatte mich auf einen Salat vom Buffet gefreut, den es früher gab und der auch noch so in der Karte steht. Gibt es nicht mehr. Die Alternative ist ein Witz. Macht jede Imbiss-Bude besser. Das Steak Mignon war hervorragend. Leider schmeckt es einem aber bei so einer Bedienung nicht mehr so.

Steak war und schweine rippen waren super. Sour cream war bißchen zu stark gesalzt.

Super Steakhouse, gutes Preis - Leistungsverhältnis. Schöne Lage direkt am historischen Rathaus. Nachtrag Januar 2024: leider gibt es nur im Damen WC einen Wickeltisch - muss das 2024 noch sein? Vielleicht überraschend , aber auch Väter Wickeln ihre Kinder heut zu Tage - dafür ein Punkt Abzug!

Sehr empfehlenswert! Service war sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und tolle Team Arbeit. Das Essen war sensationell lecker, wir hatten das junior Rumpsteak und das fillesteak, werde definitiv wieder kommen.

Wir waren gerade auf dem Heimweg als uns der Hunger überkam. Das Lokal war sehr gut besucht. Einen Tisch für zwei war jedoch kein Problem. Der Service war sehr gut, freundlich und schnell. Die Qualität der Produkte war auch gut. Es gab nichts zu beanstanden. Für meinen Geschmack, gab es bei meinem Gericht etwas viel Sauce. Der Geschmack war der Sauce gut, doch man hat es wohl zu gut gemeint mit der Menge. Wir waren jedoch zufrieden bei einem Glas Wein mit unserer Wahl. Der Preis war für runs auch sehr angemessen. Danke!

Food is really good, prices are fair and service from the waiters is also good but ... manager is completely impolite and does not fit to the position at all. We had a reservation, came a bit earlier to the restaurant and even though there were tables available we were left waiting for 30 mins by the manager. In the meantime two groups of people came without a reservation and they were allowed to sit and we were still waiting. I cannot think that this was because we were not German but it felt like it. Get e better person to manage the guests !!!

Das Essen war wirklich gut, Steaks auf den Punkt und auch die Beilagen waren gut und reichlich. Im Innenraum kann es dann doch dazu kommen das alles sehr eng und gedrückt ist. Trotz allem waren wir zufrieden.

Wir hatten Steak und haben es auf den Punkt genau bekommen. Perfekt gebraten, auch die Beilagen sind super geglückt. Aber die Afri Cola muss durch Coca Cola ersetzt werden ..🙃 Man kann hier nur 5 Sterne geben. Würde jederzeit wieder kommen.

Wir waren hier, um eine Kleinigkeit um die Mittagszeit zu essen. Viel Gäste waren nicht anwesend. Trotzdem oder vielleicht deshalb war das Personal unfreundlich und sehr langsam. Arbeit (leere Teller oder schmutziges Geschirr) wurde ignoriert. Gäste, welche als Freunde angesehen wurden, sind "besser" behandelt worden. Das Qualität des Essens ist ansonsten ganz gut, jedoch hat die Anrichteweise der Speisen sehr viel Luft nach oben. Diese ist eher als lieblos anzusehen.

Goed en gezellig Duits steakhouse. Goed vlees, meerdere soorten bier en redelijke wijn. Gezellig met zakelijke relaties aan een lange tafel. Vlotte bediening en voldoende eten.

Ho cenato (con prenotazione) all'interno del locale. Discreta scelta di piatti, ho scelto una JB steak da 200 g , gusto nella media. Pasteggiato con hefelweizen. Concluso con un apfelstrudel.
