The Johannisberg Restaurant in Bad Nauheim boasts a stunning location high above the town, offering a wonderful view of Bad Nauheim and the surrounding area. A truly special place to enjoy a meal in peace and quiet. The service was attentive, friendly, and very thorough; everything was pleasant and professional. The veal schnitzel was very tasty, but unfortunately, it was a bit overcooked on one side, which resulted in a slight deduction. Overall, however, a highly recommended restaurant with a great atmosphere, good service, and one of the most beautiful views in the region. We'd love to come back!

In addition to the wonderful view and the special Bad Nauheim atmosphere, we also enjoyed the attentive hospitality (including excellent food and drinks) that left nothing to be desired. We had a delicious meal there yesterday and spent a pleasant evening. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was very friendly. The view was fantastic. We'd love to come back. 👍🏼

We had to wait a long time for service and decided to leave, so we're only rating it for the location, which is nice.

The worst service I've experienced anywhere in the world in the last twenty years. The arrogant and unfriendly staff showed disdain for their guests. And this continued for several weeks in a row. Pride comes before a fall... It's a shame that such conceited operators are allowed to ruin such a beautiful location.

Hello everyone, We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. We just wanted to enjoy the view. Looking at the menu, we were surprised by the reasonable prices, considering the location. Many tables were reserved, and inside, it seemed every seat was taken. The food was very good, especially the salad with caramelized seeds. The staff was attentive and friendly, not intrusive. The food arrived faster than expected. An hour later would have been prime time, and we probably would have waited longer or eaten in the lounge. We loved it, and it made our visit to Bad Nauheim perfect. Reservations definitely make sense.

A wonderful terrace with a view over Bad Nauheim. It's worth the drive. The service was polite and friendly, but the food was rather mediocre. The rump steak, although cooked exactly medium, wasn't particularly tender. The chanterelle mushrooms were somewhat rubbery. Very odd! The fried spinach and bread dumplings were almost black and had clearly been in the pan for far too long. It's a shame the rather poor food couldn't be made up for by the great view. We won't be back!

The view is magnificent. That was the positive. The service isn't customer-oriented at all. It's actually more of an annoyance. You don't even get a menu. The lemonades are served in a rather unenthusiastic manner. The cake is classic frozen goods. Coppenrath and Wiese, on the other hand, is extremely delicious. Clearing only happens if you ask. None of the servers think to do it themselves. A compliment here: we met five different servers within 30 minutes. The staff is there!

We were there for the second time and this time we couldn't even order a glass of water because it was a private party and only reserved tables (which weren't occupied yet)...sad

We only had drinks, which were generally fine. However, the coffee was not very good, so if you’re coming mainly for coffee, this isn’t the right place. On the positive side, the view is beautiful.

Everything is awful, from the strong smell of frying and frying inside to the tables right next to the restroom. By reserving a table here, you risk having to look for another restaurant on weekends during peak season.

Today, we spontaneously wanted to sit down on the large terrace with eight friends to treat ourselves to an Aperol Spritz. The restaurant, or rather the terrace, was completely empty; only one table out of what felt like 30 was occupied. Unfortunately, we were turned away in a very rude manner because we didn't have a reservation. This was incomprehensible to us, as, as I said, the entire terrace was empty! Very disappointing of you and your staff. This could have been communicated more charmingly. A shame for the place.

The planning process was structured and relaxed, we were able to contribute our own ideas and always received honest, constructive feedback. We found the many small but important tips particularly helpful – for example, that bruschetta isn't a good idea at the reception because the oily tomatoes can easily get on your clothes. Such advice shows how experienced the team is and how much attention to detail they pay. Special requests were also accommodated excellently – especially allergies and intolerances. All guests were able to eat without any hassle and felt comfortable. The meal itself was a real highlight: consistently delicious, and our guests were thrilled too. The service staff was friendly, attentive, and very professional – just the right balance: always there when you needed something, but never intrusive or the center of attention. The location itself is gorgeous – perfect for a wedding. Our outdoor wedding ceremony took place with a magnificent view of Bad Nauheim, which gave the whole experience a wonderful atmosphere. The rooms were also top-notch – clean, stylish, and very comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was a truly wonderful end to an unforgettable weekend. We highly recommend the Johannisberg to anyone looking for a stylish, well-organized, and welcoming wedding venue. Thanks to the entire team – it was exactly what we wanted!

The driveway isn't nice. Either the stairs are very difficult to navigate, or the path is washed out by rain and is difficult to navigate. You can't even quickly grab a drink while standing. You have to "take a seat." Then you get pretty good service (beer 0.5 - €6.90). Tight

This afternoon, we went to eat at Johannisberg with the family – my husband, our three-year-old son, and I. The location is truly stunning, with a beautiful view of the Wetterau region. It's worth a visit for that alone! 🌄 The service was very friendly but still seemed stressed. It seemed like there weren't enough staff for the size of the restaurant and the large number of people. As a result, the wait times were enormous. The food tasted okay. My husband had the main course, but it was quite dry. The schnitzel was rather poorly served with a few croquettes – a sauce would certainly have been helpful. In conclusion: We would come back anytime for a relaxing drink and to enjoy the magnificent view. Not for the food, though.

Eight of us were there for coffee. First, the positive: the view of Bad Nauheim, across the Wetterau to the Spessart, is breathtaking. The waitresses certainly gave the impression that they were happy to be done with work soon. Friendliness certainly doesn't look like much of a stretch. Charging €4.50 for a truly meager piece of cake is almost outrageous. At 4:30 p.m., we were informed that the table was reserved from 5 p.m. After paying around 5 p.m., we enjoyed the truly beautiful view until 5:30 p.m. However, we hadn't noticed that the table in question was reserved from 5 p.m. Could this really have been due to the eagerly awaited end of the working day?

The location is great, with a fantastic view. When the weather is nice, it's a nice place to sit. The food is okay, but rather average. The young waitresses are polite, but not exactly welcoming. An older waitress with curly hair was quite rude. As my 1-year-old son was about to climb the stairs, she said as she passed, "You're not in a good place with your child." Good service staff can convey this in a polite and less passive-aggressive manner.

We went to your place for ice cream today. Unfortunately, the scoops were smaller than the ones I usually get when swimming in Lake Traunsee in winter, and they didn't give me the feeling of making them myself. Moreover, the price for this service was outrageously high.

The restaurant is beautifully situated and offers a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service was rather slow, and some of the waitresses seemed unattentive to the guests. At 4:31 p.m., no more cakes were served, even though there were still slices of cake in the refrigerated counter – that was a bit disappointing. We were eventually served by a young woman who was there on her first day of work. She was extremely friendly and attentive – we wish her all the best for her future!

Good food at an event. The location is top-notch. However, if you're not driving, planning ahead and wearing sturdy shoes is recommended.

We went to Johannisberg for dinner on June 21, 2025. The food was absolutely delicious, the staff extremely friendly, and the view of the town of Bad Nauheim was simply stunning. We went back the next day – this time for lunch – and we're still absolutely thrilled. I highly recommend the restaurant! A big thank you to the entire team – you're fantastic!

We dined and celebrated here with family and friends after our civil wedding and would do it again. We had the back area (forest view) and thus had a very private celebration just for ourselves. The food was delicious and the service excellent. The staff was attentive and always friendly. First and last time. Today I was there with my family. We reserved in advance. When we arrived, the staff hardly noticed us at all, even though less than 50% of the tables were occupied. From the beginning I had the feeling that they didn't want to serve us. The first waitress asked us about the reservation and wanted to check it first because he didn't want to believe me. Which is very outrageous. So the five of us stood around until he finally came and just told us to sit on one of the worst "seats on the wall of the house". I politely asked if it would be possible to get one of the seats with a better view, as they were almost all empty. The answer: NO, EVERYTHING FULL! Over the next few hours, as you should notice, all the seats remained empty. Nevertheless, absolutely every table was reserved! You might reserve all the tables from morning to evening to choose your customers. It's a shame. Well... The second operation unfortunately has the same characteristics as the first. No hello, no friendliness. While we were already seated at a bad table, the waitress (a woman) comes and asks bluntly: Have you reserved??? I said: of course we have that, is there a problem?? She probably couldn't believe that we, as foreigners, actually made a reservation and that there was nothing for her to complain about. I still asked you if it wouldn't be possible to sit in one of the better places with a view towards Bad Nauheim instead of the wall of the house. She replied: “You can turn your head!” It's unbelievable to deal with such rude and unprofessional staff. Since it's Mother's Day, I pulled myself together and accepted it. When ordering, my father wanted to order a piece of cake. To which the lady said, annoyed: NOT now, JUST drink now! After 10 minutes we were allowed to order our cake. Strange behavior, we all knew what we wanted but in order not to wait another 20 seconds, she decided to leave for 10 minutes first. I have to be honest, we visit the most beautiful restaurants and have already seen a lot. This restaurant is not one of the expensive ones, but not one of the cheap ones either. The behavior, the bias and the annoyed and unwelcome behavior of the waitresses shocked us all. While other people with dirty T-shirts, dirty shoes or soaked in sweat with hiking gear could choose where they wanted to sit, we, with shirts and trousers, well-groomed and €20,000 on hand, were treated so badly that we were sure that we would never reserve or recommend this restaurant again. Thanks for nothing. And thanks for the wrong drink.

A real highlight in Bad Nauheim – Restaurant Johannesberg Anyone who appreciates fine dining will get their money's worth in the Johannesberg Restaurant. As soon as you enter, you can feel that attention is paid to quality and style here - from the service staff in white shirts to the stylish presentation of the food. It is reminiscent of what you know from the classic hotel and catering school: professional, friendly and with attention to detail. The location is also a dream: high up on the Johannesberg, you can enjoy a fantastic view - in good weather all the way into the Taunus landscape. A real treat, especially at sunset! The cuisine is creative, finely tuned and high quality - an interplay of regional ingredients and modern interpretation. Every course was a small work of art. Conclusion: An all-round harmonious experience that you should treat yourself to - be it for a special occasion or simply to do something good for yourself.

The café was closed that day and I can't make any statements. The view is definitely worth a visit.

Wir waren nach einer Wanderung am 1. Mai um 17h mit 4 Personen auf der Terrasse des Restaurants und wollten nur ein Getränk. Es waren zahlreiche Tische frei, aber mit einem Reservierung Schild versehen. Wir wurden abgewiesen obwohl wir in 15 Min wieder weg gewesen wären! Ähnliches haben wir dort schon einmal erlebt. Fazit: wir werden dieses Restaurant NIE wieder betreten!

Was here for dinner with my wife, very good German cuisine, very nice and courteous staff. The food was plentiful and really tasty, I can only recommend it. The restaurant is also handicapped accessible, which I really liked.

Als Einwohner von Bad Nauheim besuchten wir immer gern das Restaurant Johannisberg.. Auch nach Übergabe an den momentanen Pächter waren wir anfangs noch zufrieden. Doch leider mussten wir wiederholt Erfahrungen machen, die uns von einem weiteren Besuch abhalten. Letzten Samstag bestellten wir zweimal Tagiatelle mit Meerbrassenfilet. Der Fisch hat so penetrant gerochen, was für frischen Fisch nicht üblich ist. Wir konnten ihn nicht essen. Wir sagten es der Bedienung, die es an die Küche weitergeben wollte. Wir aßen die trockenen Nudeln, etwas anderes wurde uns nicht angeboten. Es gab keine Kulanz oder Entschuldigung. Letzten Herbst bestellten wir auf der Terrasse einen Kaiserschmarren, der aus einem in Stücke geschnittenen Stück Kuchenteig bestand. Das Restaurant ist sehr schön, die Aussicht phantastisch, doch leider für uns nach unseren Erlebnissen nicht mehr annehmbar.

We had lunch after our civil wedding with 20 guests at Cafe Johannisberg. The coordination in advance was uncomplicated. We were able to bring our own decorations the day before. This was appropriately and attractively displayed on the table. Our combination of pre-ordered starter and dessert variation with main course a la carte was the right thing for all guests. All guests enjoyed it and we would choose the same again.

Well, I've experienced a lot in my time, but when I go into a restaurant and the waitress tells me right away. Everything is reserved and there is no table left, even though there were maybe two customers in total. And the service person or waiter simply didn't feel like doing his job and told you really rudely that he didn't even want to check whether anything could be done. Then that's really the bottom of the barrel. They probably don't want any customers there. There were three of us there, we wanted to have a nice meal and drink coffee and the waiter or whatever it was refused to do. That's not possible, that's not how you treat customers, and that gives you a grade of "unsatisfactory" for me and that's why this location is absolutely no longer recommended 🤔😤

This was our second time eating there and we will definitely do so again. We enjoyed it and the service was very friendly!

Last Saturday we - family - drove to the Johannisberg restaurant with the desire to have lunch. Unfortunately, the tables were occupied, so we asked reception if a table would be available soon. A service lady - the older one among the service staff, probably also the boss - informed us in an unfriendly tone that a table would be available in about 20 minutes. I. I asked if I could make a reservation. And then we would wait outside. The lady said no. We were about to leave the restaurant when a couple vacated a table. So we went back to reception and asked if we could have this table. The lady mentioned above said, “Please wait until the table is cleared!”. After so much “welcoming” politeness and willingness to serve, we were happy to leave the restaurant! I can't imagine what kind of service we would have received! Never again!

NIE WIEDER! Ich bin schockiert über den Umgang mit Gästen in diesem Restaurant! > Das Restaurant war zum Zeitpunkt unserer Ankunft leer. Wir fragten nach einem Tisch und bekamen mitgeteilt, es wäre alles reserviert. Der hinzugekommene Kellner bot uns dann einen Platz für circa 2 Stunden an, was für uns vollkommen ausreichend war. > Wir bestellten Getränke und fragten nach einem Kinder Cappuccino. Die Antwort lautete, „dies sei so nicht vorgesehen, aber er würde einen machen“. > Dann kam unser bestelltes Wasser, wir hatten Zitrone dazu bestellt. Diese waren nicht dabei, also erlaubten wir uns zu fragen, ob wir diese noch bekämen, als Antwort bekamen wir, ich weiß leider nicht mehr den genauen Wortlaut aber ungefähr so „keine Angst die bekommen Sie noch“. Wir waren schockiert über die Aussage und den Umgang mit uns. Es wirkte überhaupt so, als seien extra Wünsche zu viel Aufwand. Ich machte mir schon Gedanken, ob ich überhaupt noch was zusätzlich fragen sollte, riskierte es aber zu fragen woher das Wild stammt. Daraufhin bekam ich die Antwort von dem zuständigen Kellner. Er müsse in der Küche nachfragen, da er kein Wild esse. Es war natürlich nicht regional. Ich bin der Meinung ein guter Kellner sollte wissen woher das Fleisch stammt. Dann kam mein bestelltes Schnitzel. Dieses schmeckte nach Fisch. Ich reklamierte es bei einem freundlichen Kellner, dieser teilte mir mit das das Fleisch und der Fisch auf einer Ablage zubereitet werden und nahm das Essen zurück. Dann kam die „Chefin“ an den Tisch, sehr unfreundlich eher vorwürflich, das Schnitzel wäre frisch gemacht und hätte kein Kontakt zu Fisch, was wir jetzt machen sollen. Ich wünschte mir ein Essen ohne Fisch, darauf hin nahm sie die Hände nach oben und ging weg. Ich teilte ihr mit, dass ich jetzt wisse warum sie im Bereich Service schlechte Bewertungen haben, ihre Antwort war „genau deshalb“ und sie ging! Sehr professionell! Immerhin war der Kellner jetzt freundlicher geworden, wir bezahlten und gingen! Es waren noch drei sehr Junge Kellnerinnen vor Ort, die die Situation belächelten! Wahnsinn, dass der Laden mit dieser unprofessionellen Führung noch Gäste hat! Sowas habe ich noch NIE in einem Restaurant erlebt!

Then the “boss” came to the table, very unfriendly and rather reproachful, the schnitzel was freshly made and had no contact with fish, which is what we should do now. I asked for a meal without fish, so she raised her hands and walked away. I told her that I now knew why they had bad service reviews, her response was "that's exactly why" and she left! Very professional! At least the waiter had become friendlier now, we paid and left! There were three very young waitresses on site who laughed at the situation! It's crazy that the store still has guests with this unprofessional management! I have NEVER experienced something like this in a restaurant!

If you look across the avenue towards the city center from the train station, Johannisberg Castle is picturesquely located above the residential area at the top of the mountain. The location is really unique and we also really liked the ambience. Despite our high expectations, we were very satisfied with our visit to the restaurant. The dishes were delicious and the service was courteous. We also expected significantly more in terms of price. I can fully recommend this place.

Johannisberg Restaurant is really great. Second visit and can't wait to return. It offers stunning panoramic views of the entire area. Reachable it with a scenic drive or enjoy a pleasant uphill walk from the town center. The restaurant is beautiful, with a calming atmosphere and rich interior divided into two lovely dining areas. Great setting for anything from coffee and cake to a leisurely lunch. Seasonal menus are fantastic with plenty of options for vegetarians, meat lovers, and fish enthusiasts alike. Daily specials are on the boards. We especially enjoyed their cocktail and cake selection. The service is relaxed, complementing the overall unhurried ambiance of this special place. Their open-air terrace is delightful in good weather. Ample parking is available for those driving. Responding quickly to online reservations. Highly and warmly recommended!

Ein super Ausblick (Wetter war auch sehr gut), schönes Lokal, mit viel Platz. Man sitzt hier nicht wie auf einer Hühnerleiter. Wirklich viel Platz. Nicht modern, aber warm, sehr nett eingerichtet und schön. Das Essen....eine Wucht!! Schöne Speisen. Speisen, die ich schon lange nicht mehr hatte, geschweige denn irgendwo gesehen habe....wie z.B. eine Leberknödelsuppe. Die war wirklich gut. Das Hirschragout, als Hauptgang, geschmacklich super!. Die Soße, echt klasse. genauso wie die Spätzle (bestimmt selbst gemacht). Das Fleisch hätte vielleicht noch ein Ticken mürber sein können, aber wunderbar im Geschmack. Abgerundet wurde alles mit einem Kaiserschmarrn.....dieser hat auch diesen Namen verdient. Total lecker!!!! Alles in allem ein kulinarischer Hochgenuss! Die Bedienung(en), sehr freundlich und teilweise sogar etwas übereifrig. Das hat aber keineswegs gestört, im Gegenteil. Wir haben uns hier sehr gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Es war das erste Mal, wo wir hier gegessen haben, aber mit Sicherheit nicht das letzte Mal! Danke für ein wunderbares Essen. Ein Minuspunkt gibt es aber....., daher auch nur 4 Sterne.... Die Toiletten....nicht wirklich sauber, leider. Vielleicht war es aber nur an diesem Tag so. Wer weiß. Das Essen aber, definitiv ein Besuch wert!!!!

We were there for dinner. Very nice atmosphere and very tasty food. The starter was beef tartare and the main course was rump steak from Black Angus beef, both super tasty and the steak was fried to perfection with first-class meat quality. We'll be back.

In a restaurant, one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. You stand in line to get a seat, then one is assigned and you are about to sit down where someone else comes and says that's not possible, they have to go somewhere else - in the storage room - The restaurant was not fully occupied and there were also seats at the table (for 5 people), of which we only occupied 2. There was also enough staff. Where can you find something like that? The customer was once king, there was no reservation on any table. After all, you don't drive a long distance to explore Bad Nauheim and drink a cup of coffee on the Johannesberg to be annoyed on such a beautiful day... I hereby ask for a public apology from the staff. You don't treat people like that and it's better to take part in a training course. You should avoid this restaurant after a lot of things have happened.

As a photographer couple, we had the pleasure of capturing a wedding on the Johannisberg. This unique location has impressed us time and again, both privately and during our events. The service is first-class, and the food leaves nothing to be desired – simply outstanding! Particularly noteworthy is the breathtaking view over the entire city, which provides the perfect setting for any event. We can 100% recommend this location – both for weddings and other events. An all-around perfect experience!

We were there for our Christmas party in December 2024. Everything was really perfect. Super nice decoration, delicious and beautifully prepared food. The staff was very polite. Price performance was also right. The ambience and the view of Bad Nauheim clearly win here. We will definitely come back and hope that it happens again. Thank you for everything

The Johannisberg mountain restaurant is currently closed for operational reasons until January 23, 2025. Anyone who is not afraid of the steep walk up the Johannisberg will be rewarded with a fantastic view over the Wetterau, the town of Bad Nauheim and the view of the castle and fortress complex of the town of Friedberg.

One thing in advance: Christmas decorations, ambience, view... Everything was great 👍 BUT.... we came to Christmas dinner at 7 p.m. and didn't even manage to eat the main course in peace. Shortly after 8 p.m. we had the feeling that we were eating in a canteen or cafeteria. Loud, shrill, clattering, uncomfortable. No music, no Christmas spirit. When asked why no music, the answer was: it would disturb too many guests... dishes rattle and kitchen noises probably don't... Too bad!!! Eating up on the Johannesberg costs a lot of money. You not only want culinary highlights, but also a bit of relaxation and balm for the soul and coziness. Not even a digestif was offered. I don't expect free drinks, but some attention - especially at Christmas - would have been nice!!! Merry Christmas 🎄

Great view, nice ambience, very good service, unfortunately the kitchen couldn't quite keep up: three out of five stars. The game menu wasn't quite our cup of tea: pumpkin soup was very tasty but served too hot, the game meat was overcooked and too tough, the gingerbread dessert was good but contained a bit too much gingerbread spice. Good wine recommendation

Herausragende Lage, da ist nichts Schöneres weit und breit. Angenehme bis edle Einrichtung, bequeme Sitzgelegenheiten. Sehr freundlicher Service. Die Küche reißt die so gelegte Messlatte doch deutlich.

Zum 90sten Geburtstag meiner Mutter einen Tisch bestellt. Mama und mein Sohn waren persönlich dort, Reservierung eines Tisches für die Familie wurde notiert. Heute am Geburtstag meiner Mutter noch einmal angerufen um die Uhrzeit noch einmal zu bestätigen... Uns hat alle der Schlag getroffen, als man uns sagte, dass es diese Reservierung überhaupt nicht gab und die Gaststätte an diese Abend voll besetzt ist mit einer anderen, GRÖSSEREN Gruppe/Reservierung... Unverschämt, dreist... Braucht mir keiner zu erzählen, dass es sich hier um ein Versehen handelt...
