I was absolutely thrilled with my visit to the Johanna Berger restaurant! We were warmly welcomed as soon as we entered. I would particularly like to highlight the exceptionally friendly manner of waiter Ali, who really sweetened our evening with his charming and attentive service. He was always available, gave us great recommendations and was simply incredibly warm. Also big praise to the chef Jamel, who really enchanted us with his culinary creations. The dishes were not only a visual delight, but also tasted impressive across the board. You can immediately tell that the cooking here is done with attention to detail. All in all a great experience - I'll definitely be back! Many thanks to the entire team!

Just a great place! The food is fantastic, the service is warm and the atmosphere is relaxed. The cuisine is absolutely amazing – always fresh, creative and incredibly tasty. Overall, a good, but not perfect, evening. The carpaccio and pumpkin soup was fantastic. The main course, a beef fillet, was generally very good, but a bit uninspired. I expected more. The cheese plate at the end completely disappointed me. There wasn't one variety that particularly caught my attention. The wine list, however, was good again. Unfortunately, we saw a different card online when we made the reservation and it was still hanging outside the door. The surprise at the table was that some of the dishes had been adapted. Unfortunately, to our detriment, purely from reading it. I liked the ambience, but it can certainly get quite loud quickly with the right guests. The service was mixed from 3-5 stars throughout the evening, somewhat depending on the people. So in the end it was still a good evening, but from start to finish there were one or two disappointments that you wouldn't have expected in the overall package at this level. Ultimately the price was fair and the portion sizes were good.

Today we really challenged the team. Without reserving a table, we showed up spontaneously and asked to be served immediately because we had a follow-up appointment. And because that wasn't enough, we went one better: Please deviate from the menu... After a short hesitation, we got a table and were not only treated like a prince, but also in no time at all. We thank you for the flexible service and promise not to strain your good nature again.

But the highlight of the evening was of course the kitchen. Each course was a creative revelation where you could feel the attention to detail and the exceptional quality of the ingredients. It was really a successful evening. Everything from the service to the food was excellent. This is how you imagine a perfect evening! We will definitely come back.

The food was the tastiest and best I've ever eaten! The chef conjured up two greetings from the kitchen beforehand. Both tasted very good. Then there were slices of May roebuck with special carrots and a very tasty sauce. Dessert was blackberry ice cream with tasty ingredients. (Unfortunately I forgot them.) Afterwards I felt very comfortable and stroked my tummy. It was a wonderful culinary explosion of taste. If you want to treat yourself to something special. You can find it here. Definitely try it out, dear ones. Mmmmhhh.

We here with 4 people as a group. I had the 3 course surprise menu + the 3 course wine tour. And it was really great. Each course was complex and full of tasty surprises, both in appearance and especially in taste. I didn't know what to expect and I couldn't keep the happy grin off my face the whole time - it was my first visit to a star kitchen. Conclusion: A culinary experience that I will be talking about for a long time and that makes me want “again” and “more!!”. Next time the 4 or 5 course menu.

Fine dining and service. On warm summer evenings you can enjoy your meals in the beautiful backyard/terrace. It is tastefully decorated, with colorful paintings. For example, we took the surprise menu, which is exceptionally good. The starters are a selection of all the starters you could order and more. Main courses, whether fish, meat or vegetarian, are exceptionally delicious. Everything is visually perfectly arranged. The desserts also leave nothing to be desired. The service is discreet, polite, courteous and competent. We'd love to come back!

How nice to have found this restaurant as a new Lübeck resident.

In my opinion, a restaurant experience is first and foremost about the food and then ambience and service add a nuance. Having said this, the dream team of Chefs Johanna and Jamel are producing excellence from local ingredients to the extent I have only experienced at the 1* establishment of Wullenwever a short walk from here. We decided on a 3-course Surprise Menu and one 3-course à la carte combination, both with the standard wine "journey", and both of us were thrilled by the variety, presentation, and taste of every morsel. Nothing on those plates was boring, the portion sizes were generous, and the wines were exceptional (even including a beautiful 1993 red). Needless to say, we were very impressed and left with a wish to return. On this balmy Lübeck evening, we decided to sit outside, and while the interior spaces are wonderful, the exterior could do with a bit more decor. If, as is likely, this restaurant aspires to Michelin stardom, then that might be the only aspect needing a little work. With flawless service, culinary excellence, and a price point that would make the drive from Hamburg a worthwhile endeavor, I give Johanna and Jamel my highest recommendation!

The food was good, but nothing more... The service clearly needs improvement and was hopelessly overwhelmed. The restaurant was full to capacity and after 2 hours we finally got the starters. The drinks also took almost half an hour to arrive - after several requests. If there are not enough staff available, you shouldn't fill all the places! And the semi-skilled staff must be instructed at least enough to know where to place the glasses. The wine recommended by the chef was then 'out'. Since we were there for a big birthday, I had previously discussed a corresponding table decoration, but it only differed from that of the other tables at the third glance... The sparkler at the end was rather ridiculous... Johanna Berger won't see us again any time soon.

Great! We went to Johanna's as a group and really enjoyed the evening. The service was very friendly and competent, and the dishes on the surprise menu were excellent. Guests' allergies are carefully considered and informed - "if necessary" there is an alternative course on a separate plate. We will be happy to come back.

We had our New Year's Eve menu here. The dishes were excellent and extravagant. The service was a bit overwhelming, but it was nice. Unfortunately you had to wait a long time between courses. The tables were a little too close together, so you always had to talk a little quieter... But I would still eat here again at any time.

As always, the food was a feast for the palate, but the service was not good for the 10% tip on the bill. Always happy to come.

The overall package was perfect. The staff was friendly, well organized and always professional. Yes, the prices are higher, but the quality of the food is also very high. Everything was well coordinated and prepared to perfection. We had very different dishes and everyone was very satisfied. The drinks were also excellent. We had white wine and crémant of very good quality. An unconditional recommendation from us.

The place is nice enough, albeit "a little" cold. 4 course surprise menu in no way lived up to anything Michelin …. Bevares food tasted fine, but had expected more than what you can get in an alm. Danish inn.

It is an exceptional restaurant. The menu has surprises for every taste. The service is great and the atmosphere is fine. Even if the restaurant is a little hidden, it is recommended to make a reservation because it always seems to be very busy.

There was nothing to complain about here. The reception was super friendly and accommodating. You immediately feel welcome. Enchanting ambience. Great food. Nicely prepared. Optimal portions. Everything was perfectly timed. Friendly and professional service without a hint of intrusiveness. The blindly ordered wine was excellent and the price was absolutely reasonable, as was the price of the food. OK. It echoes a bit because of the suboptimal room acoustics. Certainly due to the high, stately rooms. Now I don't expect to install any sound diffusers. Especially since it could disrupt the beautiful ambience. Also, I'm probably a little hard of hearing. Johanna Berger can't help it. A TSE cash register system for tax depreciation is available, which cannot be said of all supposedly upscale restaurants in Lübeck. All in all a very successful evening. A further increase would probably only have been possible if I had been carried to the table and then fed ;-) I can't understand the sometimes devastating reviews here (there are always dissatisfied people) regarding the ambience and service. The comment was unbelievable when someone with a group of 12 people came in for dessert and then complained. Honestly. It is an act of politeness not to block seats with 12 people in a restaurant like this just to have a dessert. Tim Mälzer does that. Then the filleting knife will definitely come flying out of the kitchen. A thank you for even being allowed to sit down for dessert would have been appropriate. (I had to get rid of that). Apart from that, it is clear to me that you also have to take into account the desserts for an evening. When planning, these are actually part of a main course and should not be eaten individually, otherwise they will be missed too early in the evening. I can't expect everything on the menu to always be fresh and fully prepared. Because as a customer I have to pay for scrap in the end. But there are more and more people who only see each other.

Very uninspired food and overpriced for the quality offered, the quality of the ingredients left a lot to be desired. All the fish, deer and deer were literally drowning in too much sauce and ingredients. Everything tasted the same, the vegetables were overcooked, some, like the venison tartare, were way too cold, no inspiring taste experiences at all. The scallops were inedible, the truffle had no taste, probably from Chinese farming. And there was simply far too much on the plate; less would have been more here. The restaurant should urgently improve the lighting in the premises, it is cold and not particularly comfortable! All in all a very disappointing evening.

Der Abend begann sehr vielversprechend: Hervorragendes Ambiente, herzlicher, wenngleich nicht stets professioneller Service und ein sehr gutes Hirschtatar zur Vorspeise. Eine leckere Komposition! Der Hirschrücken zum Hauptgang war gut. Das Dessert enttäuschte leider: Die bestellte Creme Brûlée bestand aus zwei kleinen Schälchen. Schlicht deshalb weil auch andere Dessertvariationen eins dieser Schälchen umfassten. Zudem war sie vollständig kühlschrankkalt, schmeckte schlicht nach Sahne. Nicht nach Karamell oder Vanille. Es entstanden längere Pausen zwischen dem Gängen, eine Bestellung wurde vergessen. In der Reservierung war vermerkt, dass ein Geburtstag gefeiert werden sollte. Dies wurde, anders als mir aus ähnlichen Restaurants bekannt, nicht beachtet.

食べたものは全て美味しかった。特に子供向けに焼いてくれた豚カツの味付けは素晴らしかった。 値段も高すぎず、店員さんの接客レベルも非常に高かった。 マイナスポイントは、部屋が少し寒かったのと、料理の待ち時間が多少長かった点くらいでしょうか。 予約はした方が良いでしょう。

Ill start by saying, what a hidden gem this restaurant was. Hidden in a small, comfortable place. Easily you could walk by without notice, except for the michelin star. A meal that was well thought out, each course balanced well. With wine pairings that fit perfectly. Go for the 4 course surprise meal, it was such a wonderful experience giving the chef the choice to create a food experience. The star was the appetizer, as each bite was in harmony and melded perfectly. Combined with wonderful and attentive service, proved why a young restaurant would have the star they do. If you are ever in Northern Germany you need to make sure you go and leave with such wonderful memories as I. Prices are not cheap but most definitely worth it.

Vorzügliche Speisen- & Getränkeauswahl mit origineller Darbietung und individuellem Flair bei gehobenen Preisen. Angemessenes Ambiente in ruhiger Atmosphäre und sehr stilvoller Ausgestaltung. Service leider nicht perfekt, da Speisen z.T. über den Tisch gereicht. Achtung: steuersichere Rechnung muss beim Zahlvorgang gesondert angefordert werden (sonst nur Beleg, keine Rechnung).

Manchmal darf es etwas mehr sein…. wir waren mal wieder bei Johanna…wie immer stimme alles…dieses mal leider nicht ganz… alle wählten das Überraschungsmenü…ausser ich…mmh , ein kleiner Fehler …die Vorspeisen…perfekt und von der Portion genau richtig… dann kam der Hauptgang…Spargel mit einem Kalbsfilet …der Spargel perfekt gekocht und die Sosse ein Genuss…aber..leider das Fleisch, gut gebraten,aber 2 dünne Scheiben …mmh ein wenig Enttäuschung machte sich breit…ok wir sind in einen guten Restaurant…da fallen auch mal die Gericht, oder besser das Fleisch etwas weniger aus…obwohl der Preis darauf hindeutete, das es so nicht der Fall ist… deshalb darf es das nächste mal auch wieder ein bisschen mehr sein , liebe Johanna…es war trotzdem ein gelungener und genussvoller Abend..vielen Dank…aber deshalb leider nur 4 Sterne …wir kommen wieder.

Den Abend dort verbracht. Haben wir einen tollen Service kennengelernt. Der Service hat sich sehr viel Mühe gegeben, dass alles stimmig ist und die passenden Weine empfohlen. Das Essen war ok… leider passtdas Preis-Leistung Verhältnis nicht. Für einen mittelmäßigen Hauptgang 49 Euro zu zahlen. Alle Gänge recht lieblos und ein wenig zerkocht

Also, ehrlich gesagt: enttäuschend. Überfordertes Personal, freundlich bemüht, aber unaufmerksam und ohne Gefühl für Gastlichkeit. Das zeigte sich schon an der Reaktion auf unsere Bitte, den wackelnden Tisch zu stabilisieren. Antwort: "Ja. Das liegt an der Tischplatte". - Okay. Dann werden wir also sehr gut aufpassen, dass kein Glas herunter fällt, wenn man an den Tisch kommt. Kein Problem. Machen wir gerne. Auch hätte man uns den Wein vor dem Einschenken probieren lassen können. Nicht, dass ich auf Rituale versessen wäre, aber wir hätten mit der Wahl ja auch völlig daneben liegen können. Keine Erklärung zu den Menüs, die Teller wurden viel zu lange nicht abgeräumt und anstelle der bestellten zwei Gläser Wein (die Flasche war da längst ausgetrunken) kam zunächst eine neue Flasche eines anderen Weins. Allerdings auch erst, nachdem wir mit dem Hauptgang bereits fertig waren. Schlechtes Timing. Sonst gutes Essen, dafür aber viel zu teuer. Schade.

We had the set menu and wine pairing. Food was excellent, wine was great. Some variation but overall very nice. Service was fast and smooth. Really nothing to complain about apart from the slightly crooked painting of Günther Grass. A most pleasant evening!

Es war ein sehr gelungener Abend. Besonders gut fanden wir, wie unser kleiner Junge bedient wurde.
