A decent attempt at Mexican food but you can tell they’re missing the ingredients that make true Mexican food so fantastic. (The salsa on the chicken enchilada tastes like it came from an Old El Paso bottle.) But the atmosphere is great and, hey, you’re in Germany so what can you expect?

Very good tasting good. The guacamole is made at your table and it came with tortilla chips and was perfect. Ordered the chicken enchiladas and were delicious. My husband ordered the birria tacos and were off a bit. They didn't taste authentic.

I spontaneously decided to celebrate my birthday there. I'm absolutely delighted. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the service was fantastic. The food was truly delicious! There was a birthday surprise because there were five of us. It was simply fantastic! I'd love to come back.

We got a reservation on a Friday night. It was full of people, good atmosphere. The food was delicious, but too much 😉 we shared a pitcher of strawberry daiquiri.

Maybe the food was not bad bad, it was edible, but it was soulless. It was cooked by someone who doesn’t like what he or she does. It makes the Mexican food imitation in the US taste authentic and delicious!

It was our first time there. Our seating preferences were taken into account; we sat outside on the terrace, where we had a wonderful time chatting. We received friendly and courteous service, and the food and drinks were delicious. The cheese-covered nachos we shared as an appetizer were too large in our opinion, so half the portion was enough for us. Otherwise, everything was great; we'd be happy to come back.

Lots of mosquitoes and flies from the watered garden. A woodlouse at the table, and the waiter just shrugs. Cassava rock-hard, like raw. The waiter doesn't care. And tables and chairs where you don't know where to put your feet. We're not coming back.

09/17/25 - This was the first time my family came to Germany as tourists, for a week. They had already had very bad experiences with the service, and when they came to visit me in Stuttgart, I really wanted to take them to my favorite restaurant, as I've always been treated very well there, and I thought, "Well, at least we had a good experience and a pleasant evening, right?" Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. From the very beginning, we were treated condescendingly and rudely by the waiter (a tall, black man with a beard). He was impatient several times and displayed passive-aggressive behavior. We were never unfriendly—I've lived here for a long time and know how to behave. My family was polite and friendly, yet we were treated with indifference and made to feel like we were a nuisance. They paid €145. That wasn't a small amount, and unfortunately, this is the last time this restaurant will receive my money. My family was treated so poorly that I'm truly sad. I hope this aspect improves a lot.

Great atmosphere, super friendly staff, and authentic Mexican food. The fajitas and burritos are fresh, plentiful, and delicious, along with fantastic cocktails. You immediately feel welcome – all in all, a perfect evening. Highly recommended!

Great restaurant. Food was excellent, the quantities were big. We ordered the nachos with beef as starter, and saw a bit too big. But other than that absolutely delicious.

It takes a long time to bring the drinks but the place is very good and the food too.

They just took my order and didn't provide any service while I was eating, so I told them I wouldn't tip, and they didn't even give me a final greeting and ignored me. The food was just okay.

The food in the restaurant was really good and flavorful – you can tell they use fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, the menu was very confusing, so choosing took significantly longer than necessary. The biggest downside, however, was the service: After our meal, our empty plates sat on the table for over two hours without anyone clearing them or asking if we wanted anything else. We weren't asked for drinks once during our entire visit.

I went there for the first time today and was absolutely thrilled. Very friendly staff and a competent bartender. We had delicious cocktails and a great meal—what more could you want? I'll definitely be back.

A surprising restaurant. Arriving near the restaurant, nestled among the buildings, I wasn't expecting such a green setting. The terrace is bordered by a flower garden. The music and the food immerse me in a Mexican universe. I enjoyed the generously garnished quesada with chicken, cheese, peppers, and mushrooms, accompanied by guacamole, mixed peppers, rice with tomato sauce, red bean purée, and cream, and a tequila sunrise.

Visit on July 10, 2025 | 7:15–9:45 p.m. | Terrace, group of 5 people Positive: The food was really delicious, with large portions and a good selection on the menu. The atmosphere is authentic and lively, but still allows for good conversation – we like that. Contrary: The service was unfortunately a complete failure. While friendly, they were completely overwhelmed in terms of organization. We had to wait an average of 10–15 minutes for each step – starting with the first drink order. We asked for a simple water twice and still waited over 20 minutes. The tortillas we ordered for the fajita only arrived after asking three times – by which time the food was, of course, already cold. We also waited an unnecessarily long time for the bill. The problem seems clear: a lack of staff. On the large terrace, there were only two people taking orders, only one person was responsible for drinks, and only one could take the cash. We don't understand why they're planning this—the result is frustration on all sides. We actually enjoy coming here, but after last night, we all agreed: Unfortunately, this was our last visit. It's a shame they're cutting back on staff and wasting so much potential.

Sometimes photos are better than words . So, instead of describing your dishes with understandable worlds and huge amount of line please shorter and clearer because at the end we don't really know what we picked up. What a disappointment...it is unfair to say that it was bad but it is fair to say that it was not good . There is nothing related to Mexican food. It is a German adaptation of Mexican fantasy.... sure creative but not right there. So mister boss of Joe Peña please buy a ticket to Mexico.

The waitress who served us was very attentive and professional. The food was truly delicious, especially the sauces. My only minor criticism: The salad could have been fresher and of higher quality. I also think that with fajitas (beef or chicken), the meat should be more prominent than the vegetables. The staff would have earned 7 stars from us – if that were possible! Despite a few minor flaws, we're happy to give it 5 stars. We'll definitely be back!

The service was truly engaging. One moment you'd see smiling faces, and the next the lady and gentleman looked like they'd been raining for three days (I think it was exhausting for both of them to provide friendly service that evening). The later the evening got, the less people noticed you, and the longer you had to wait for a drink. The food was great. We'll definitely be back, as we want to give it another chance. Everyone can have a bad day.

I went to Joe Penas for the first time on Monday with some friends. It's actually really nice, but unfortunately, the waitress seemed very lackluster. When we asked about the food, she looked at us annoyed, so we decided not to ask any more questions. We really don't expect much, but a little friendliness and a feeling of welcome would have been really nice. I/we assume we just had a bad day and are giving it another chance, because otherwise everything was really nice. The food was delicious, and the patio in the backyard is very quiet, so you can relax.

A truly fantastic experience! We ordered the vegan version of the Chimichanga, and everything tasted amazing. The food was nice and crispy, and all the side dishes were perfectly prepared, including the rice, corn on the cob, and the mini tortilla with the salad. The non-alcoholic cocktail tasted like much more than just fruit juice (which is what I'm used to with non-alcoholic cocktails), and the sweet potato fries were very reasonably priced and a good portion, with the perfect balance of sweet and salty. I struck up a conversation with the bartender; he was friendly and easy to hold. The ambiance is fantastic and perfect for a quiet chat. The courtyard is very romantic. 10/10, would come again!

The food and cocktails were excellent. The only downside that day was the service: even though not all tables were occupied, it felt like an eternity before we could even order a drink.

Here you can enjoy good Mexican food and drinks. A wide selection of food—but not too much—and a large selection of drinks such as cocktails, whiskey, etc.

The staff also speaks English and the English menu can be found with the QR code. The wait was about thirty minutes to receive the food. Good portions, food quality ok. Prices a little high.

The noise level is very loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. The service is nice and friendly, but it can take a little longer if you want to reorder something. The food was good, but it's been better.

It's always nice to eat here. I'm usually in Esslingen, but this time I was in Stuttgart, and what can I say? Simply delicious. I highly recommend it. The waitress that day didn't visit us as often towards the end. We wanted a final drink, so we asked her for the drinks menu, but she didn't come back. The food was good, not mindblowing but certainly not bad. My main issue was with the service. We were seated outside and given menu's, and nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. Key thing to point out is that we clearly weren't German, and didn't speak German very well. Shortly after we were seated, some other guests were seated close to us, at least one of them didn't speak German either. We overheard the service staff asking them if they wanted English menu's, which they never asked us. The service staff also asked them if they were smokers and wanted an ashtray, again, they never asked us. After we ordered and had gotten our food, we nearly had to grab service staff by their collars to receive service, like extra drinks or the check. When we did get the check, they weren't shy about asking for a tip. When I said no, because I didn't think we were served properly, the service staff didn't say another word to us, not so much as a goodbye, or asking why I didn't want to leave a tip. It's a shame that an otherwise good night was overshadowed by such terrible service.

You can eat well here! From the outside the restaurant is completely unremarkable. If you don't know it, you probably wouldn't go in. But it's worth entering. The memory card is extensive and the selection is large. I had POLLO CON MOLE DE QUERÉTARO. The fine, creamy mole from the Querétaro region turns the juicy grilled chicken into a pure taste explosion. That's what the memory card says. Only the quesadilla mentioned (grilled wheat tortilla filled with cheese and red onions) was not included. Therefore a little points deduction. And all in all, everything took a little longer than would have been possible. There is still room for improvement.

Unfortunately a bit disappointing. Although there weren't many guests present (about 15 people who had already eaten), a 250g steak and wedges took 45 minutes. Steak wasn't of good quality for the price, but rather tough. The wedges appear to be finished goods. For a beer, wedges, steak almost 50 euros without a tip is very, very sporty.

A very nice restaurant.. In the middle of the city, but you still have the feeling of sitting in the green. Great courtyard. Great bar. And the food was very, very tasty. And great churros for dessert...

We were in Stuttgart again last weekend. I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant, but unfortunately the restaurant didn't live up to my expectations. The food was OK, but nothing more. The atmosphere was a disaster. It was so loud that all you could do was scream at each other. The service was friendly, which saved the visit somewhat. All in all, it was unfortunately not a nice evening for a wedding anniversary.

The food was delicious and the non-alcoholic cocktails were also great. 😊 We made a reservation for 5:30 p.m., which is why the restaurant wasn't too busy. The staff was friendly, but a little hint about the size of the starter would have been great 😅👍🏻

Nice atmosphere in Stuttgart city center, near the main train station. Delicious, hearty dishes. You might want to spend a little time looking at the menu. It's a bit playful in person and can quickly overwhelm guests. Fast, friendly service. Prices are reasonable - OK.

There wasn't much going on for a Saturday evening. So that couldn't have been the cause. (In some cases up to 5 unreserved tables free). Too bad. Used to be our main contact point.

Went there for dinner with 3 people. We were shown to the table promptly at the reserved time. From here all you could do was wait... Waited over an hour for the main course and then all the dishes we ordered were perhaps still lukewarm.

The best authentic Mexican food we have had in Stuttgart. We were in a group of 5 with one kid. We ordered the Nachos, sticky fingers, Burrito de verduras, Gaucho Fonde, Carne de buey tres chiles, Virgin Piña and Virgin Mojito. The drinks were non alcoholic and we requested for Virgin Mojito to be without sugar and they complied. The quantity and the quality of the food was incredible. We ordered for the nachos to be extra spicy and they gave it to us with extra jalapeños. The Nachos was very good. The sticky fingers is chicken breast and we felt it was a bit dry but I think it's probably our mistake because chicken breast is usually quite dry when it's flattened and fried. The Burrito de verduras was spicy and well prepared. The Gaucho Fonde was succulent and juicy. The star of the show was Carne de buey tres chiles. The mole was just incredible. The three types of chilli sauces were very spicy and superb. The meat was medium rare as requested. The meat went really well with the sauces. This place is also kid friendly. Just make sure you reserve ahead of time as it can get full. Super thanks to the chefs and the staff for a wonderful experience.

I had dinner this week and couldn't tolerate the food. It's a shame that the quality of the food has declined and is cooked with a lot of spices. The service was unmotivated and the restaurant was only 1/3 full.

No wonder this restaurant is one of the best in Stuttgart. Great food delicious cocktails. The service is very nice and quick. The food is just wow. Of course it was a bit expensive but we are happy to spend money for good quality and service. You don't treat yourself to anything else😃

The price is huge. The steak cost €27.50 including 2 side dishes 2 years ago. Now €31 without any side dishes. The taste is good, but the price is no longer commensurate.

Great variety of dishes from all regions of Mexico

Die Cocktails sind unschlagbar. Und die Speisekarte wurde überarbeitet und mit weiteren Gerichten ergänzt. Wir kommen immer wieder (verschiedene Standorte). In Stuttgart ist das Ambiente auch richtig schön. Der Service war wie immer sehr freundlich.

We ate very well and were served very nicely. The restaurant can only be recommended. If you want to name something negative, it would be the cramped seating, so a star deduction for the ambience point.

Except for the salad with ready-made dressing, the food was simply delicious!

The food is relatively good considering it's not really authentic Mexican. The service is very inattentive.

Unfortunately, the food disappointed me. I ordered a burger which was served with a coleslaw. The coleslaw did not taste fresh and seemed as if it was several days old. The burger meat was tasteless and the sauce served with it was reminiscent of cheap supermarket ketchup. For the price of over 15 euros, I would have expected much better quality.

There were 7 of us at Joe Penas yesterday and it was an absolute disappointment. First the drinks took a very long time with a rather low capacity, then the drinks came wrong, then little by little but unfortunately always wrong. The glasses for the special were very dirty and sticky, which is why we had them returned. We then observed that these glasses were simply brought to the other table. The food order had slight variations (burger without pickles) but even this was not implemented. Most of the time the waiters were either at the counter chatting or standing outside smoking...That was definitely our last visit there.

We were there for the first time today. The service was very attentive. The cocktails and food came quite quickly and were extremely tasty. The location is close to the main station and is beautifully furnished. It's best to reserve a table in advance. We were lucky to get something like that, but the location is already in high demand. If we are in Stuttgart again, we will come back!

A visit here is always a real highlight - the food is incredibly delicious and the atmosphere invites you to linger. The service is attentive and friendly, and you can tell that a lot of emphasis is placed on quality here. It's definitely one of my favorite places to enjoy good food and have a good time. However, prices have risen significantly since inflation began, making visits somewhat rarer. Despite the higher cost, the quality remains consistently high and it's still worth coming here. Overall, a recommendable place that you can treat yourself to every now and then!

The food is absolutely delicious, but the chef who made the mole sauce may be in love ;). That's what they say when a dish is a little too salty🙈 Otherwise extremely tasty and the rest was perfectly balanced and not too salty. We shared the dessert. The service was very good. Will be happy to come back! 😊
