Super delicious food. Waiters are very friendly. Super nice to the children too. I always enjoy going there.

The best authentic Mexican food we have had in Stuttgart. We were in a group of 5 with one kid. We ordered the Nachos, sticky fingers, Burrito de verduras, Gaucho Fonde, Carne de buey tres chiles, Virgin Piña and Virgin Mojito. The drinks were non alcoholic and we requested for Virgin Mojito to be without sugar and they complied. The quantity and the quality of the food was incredible. We ordered for the nachos to be extra spicy and they gave it to us with extra jalapeños. The Nachos was very good. The sticky fingers is chicken breast and we felt it was a bit dry but I think it's probably our mistake because chicken breast is usually quite dry when it's flattened and fried. The Burrito de verduras was spicy and well prepared. The Gaucho Fonde was succulent and juicy. The star of the show was Carne de buey tres chiles. The mole was just incredible. The three types of chilli sauces were very spicy and superb. The meat was medium rare as requested. The meat went really well with the sauces. This place is also kid friendly. Just make sure you reserve ahead of time as it can get full. Super thanks to the chefs and the staff for a wonderful experience.

There were gluten-free alternatives and good labeling. It was busy, which is why the service took a long time. But overall everything was definitely good.

I had dinner this week and couldn't tolerate the food. It's a shame that the quality of the food has declined and is cooked with a lot of spices. The service was unmotivated and the restaurant was only 1/3 full.

No wonder this restaurant is one of the best in Stuttgart. Great food delicious cocktails. The service is very nice and quick. The food is just wow. Of course it was a bit expensive but we are happy to spend money for good quality and service. You don't treat yourself to anything else😃

The price is huge. The steak cost €27.50 including 2 side dishes 2 years ago. Now €31 without any side dishes. The taste is good, but the price is no longer commensurate.

Die Cocktails sind unschlagbar. Und die Speisekarte wurde überarbeitet und mit weiteren Gerichten ergänzt. Wir kommen immer wieder (verschiedene Standorte). In Stuttgart ist das Ambiente auch richtig schön. Der Service war wie immer sehr freundlich.

We ate very well and were served very nicely. The restaurant can only be recommended. If you want to name something negative, it would be the cramped seating, so a star deduction for the ambience point.

Except for the salad with ready-made dressing, the food was simply delicious!

Unfortunately, the food disappointed me. I ordered a burger which was served with a coleslaw. The coleslaw did not taste fresh and seemed as if it was several days old. The burger meat was tasteless and the sauce served with it was reminiscent of cheap supermarket ketchup. For the price of over 15 euros, I would have expected much better quality.

The food is relatively good considering it's not really authentic Mexican. The service is very inattentive.

There were 7 of us at Joe Penas yesterday and it was an absolute disappointment. First the drinks took a very long time with a rather low capacity, then the drinks came wrong, then little by little but unfortunately always wrong. The glasses for the special were very dirty and sticky, which is why we had them returned. We then observed that these glasses were simply brought to the other table. The food order had slight variations (burger without pickles) but even this was not implemented. Most of the time the waiters were either at the counter chatting or standing outside smoking...That was definitely our last visit there.

We were there for the first time today. The service was very attentive. The cocktails and food came quite quickly and were extremely tasty. The location is close to the main station and is beautifully furnished. It's best to reserve a table in advance. We were lucky to get something like that, but the location is already in high demand. If we are in Stuttgart again, we will come back!

A visit here is always a real highlight - the food is incredibly delicious and the atmosphere invites you to linger. The service is attentive and friendly, and you can tell that a lot of emphasis is placed on quality here. It's definitely one of my favorite places to enjoy good food and have a good time. However, prices have risen significantly since inflation began, making visits somewhat rarer. Despite the higher cost, the quality remains consistently high and it's still worth coming here. Overall, a recommendable place that you can treat yourself to every now and then!

The food is absolutely delicious, but the chef who made the mole sauce may be in love ;). That's what they say when a dish is a little too salty🙈 Otherwise extremely tasty and the rest was perfectly balanced and not too salty. We shared the dessert. The service was very good. Will be happy to come back! 😊

Great cocktails and delicious food, friendly service

Joe Pena's is a solid, slightly upscale Mexican restaurant. Here you can get typical food, plus good cocktails. Comparable to enchiladas and sausalitos. The Entradas Mixtas appetizer platter we ordered was okay overall, but not cheap at just under 15 euros per person. In my opinion, there isn't that much on the main plate, nor is it particularly high quality. Some things like the chicken are seasoned well, others are not. The corn on the cob tasted more like water. Without the nachos it wouldn't be worth it. But one or two are still tasty. In a direct comparison, I think the starter plate at Enchilada is better. If you've already spent almost 30 euros, you can either save and order affordable tacos or tortillas, or steak like we did. We went all out and ordered Carne De Las Especias with special spice rubs and Costillas Cubana with also a special marinade. Both medium. Grilled it was perfect, the first one tasted a little too strongly of the marinade, the second one we can clearly say was one of the better ones you can get in the Stuttgart area. Great meat and marinade. The side dish prices are reasonable (up to 4.50 depending on the option). We had steakhouse potatoes, a side salad and sweet potato fries here. Except for the salad, which was rather weak, there were hot and tasty side dishes. The side dishes directly with the steak with the red sauce, herb butter, salt and corn on the cob are also good. Let's move on to the cocktails. On Tuesday we had happy hour until 8 p.m., but that day every margarita was available for 7.50 anyway. The regular prices are mostly over 10 euros. We had the Joes Classic and the version with mango. Both well made and tasty. However, my criticism is that these are not served in the typical glasses. You shouldn't have any illusions either, the cocktails are made with rather cheap brands, the alcohol content also varies somewhat, my version was quite strong, which is good. In general, it's good that there are promotional days, which you should pay attention to, as the price level is not low. The ambience is typical for this concept, but we noticed that the tables and chairs seemed quite worn out, some of them wobbled and the seating was very tight. There is no padding whatsoever, and after 2 hours we no longer felt the need to sit any longer. It's quite uncomfortable, sorry. Reservations are mandatory on the weekend, even during the week it is easily half full and we have reserved. Overall, the staff was good and plentiful, but given the prices I expect the same. In fact, they could have been friendlier here. The location in Stuttgart is not far from the main station, but is still somewhat inconvenient. I give a solid 4 stars because the respective points of criticism are complemented by positive things, e.g. the rather high prices due to promotional days and there was a positive and negative aspect to everything. The two of us left 130 euros, not unusual for Stuttgart, but when you consider that we only had one round of cocktails and the happy hour price, you notice how the prices have gone up. Compared to the competition, Joe Penas is only open in the evenings and doesn't have a cheap lunch menu.

Taco Tuesday - a must. Simply delicious tacos! Courteous service and nice ambience. We also have promotions on other days that definitely have to be tried out 😊

The food is terrible and tasteless. The guacamole was just crushed avocado, without lemon or salt, let alone onion or tomato. I ordered a supposedly spicy dish and it wasn't spicy. The restaurant was only at half capacity and they still sat us next to a huge table where it seemed like we were sitting with them because there was no space. I think it's fine for a drink but never again for dinner.

Wie waren in den vergangenen Jahren immer wieder hier, in letzter Zeit auch öfters. Und wie immer war auch diesmal alles super. Das Personal ist extrem nett und zuvorkommend und bleibt auch cool und freundlich wenn der Laden brummt. Das Ambiente ist sehr stimmig, egal ob innen oder im Sommer auch gerne draußen. Die Cocktails sind seeeehr gut gemixt, da wird nicht an kostbarem Stoff wie hochwertiger Rum, Vodka, Brandy, Gin oder anderen hochgeistigen Essenzen gespart. Und das selbst zur Happy Hour. Das Essen ist immer frisch und alles was wir gegessen hatten, war sehr lecker. Die Karte unterscheidet sich auch erfreulich von den anderen TexMex Läden. Es gibt immer wieder neues zu entdecken, auch Gerichte die man so noch nicht kannte. Das alles ist tatsächlich preiswert, im Sinne von, die Produkte und der Service sind ihren Preis wert. Nachdem uns in den letzten Jahren andere Restaurants in diesem Genre wiederholt enttäuscht hatten sind wir froh diese erfrischende Alternative gefunden zu haben. Das Gesamtpaket stimmt, wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Disfrutamos mucho de nuestra cena; el servicio era muy bueno; cantidad bastante grande de comida. Margarita era muy débil hasta el punto de que sabía como si no hubiera tequilla en ella; tal vez ese es el secreto; mencionó esto al servidor con muy poca respuesta - - Entendí que lo habían escuchado antes. Yo recomendaría este restaurante para la comida.

Looks unlikely from the outside. But inside it turns out to be a very cozy tent. The food is good and not expensive. Please note that the portions are not small 😉 The sides are also larger than usual.

Absolutely thrilled with Joe Penas delivery! The food was delicious and arrived perfectly packaged - still hot and fresh, as if it had just been served. The portions were generous, just right to leave you full and happy. I was particularly impressed by the fact that this is by far the best meal I have ever had delivered in Stuttgart. And the cocktail that went with it was simply amazing – perfectly mixed and a great complement to the meal. Clear recommendation, I will definitely order here again!

Leider schmeckte man dem Essen auf Anhieb die Geschmacksverstärker von Maggi & Co heraus. Zudem sehr lieblos serviert mit schlabbrigem Salat aus der Tüte. Einen Koch gibt es hier nicht.

Had something to eat at the weekend Young father €58.90 for a steak 250g that was never 250g fries well mc better a coke a cocktail there was more ice in it than drink and the brownie ouch!!! That was soooo bad normal money back sorry!!! Service waiter very nice but the rest you would rather Uncle Otto ahhh and the corn would make you cry!!! It's a shame it doesn't come back either

This place does not serve Mexican/Tex Mex food. As someone that lived very close to the Mexico border for years, this is most definitely not Mexican or southwestern cuisine, not even close. The funny thing is, the food actually isn't bad, it's just in no way Mexican. The chorizo appetizer was fine, and the chimichanga (definitely didn't taste or look like a chimichanga), also tasted good too, but all the sides were bland, and they have zero salsas or Mexican hot sauces to add. The salad side came in a tortilla that was gross, it tasted completely stale. The employees overall were nice, and the food service was fast , I'll give them credit. I know I won't come back here again if I want to eat Mexican food, but I'm not opposed to coming back.

The food was delicious. I expected more in terms of side dishes but oh well. For 38 euros a steak with some rice. What is a NO GO, the menu cards. You're totally overwhelmed. There is a text (a story) for each dish, so it takes minutes to read part of the menu. You feel like you're at school doing some task. I would rather add pictures to the dishes instead of these long texts. Otherwise very nice service, clean and pleasant restaurant.

The food here is pretty good. The steak fajitas had a few chewy parts, and it's not exactly authentic but still delicious. The taquitos are actually flautas, but they taste great. The service is excellent, there is a wonderful atmosphere, and the drinks are fantastic! There is a happy hour during the weekdays that is great to utilize. My favorite is the banana margarita.

El personal acaba de charlar mientras esperamos a sentarnos. Finalmente nos sentamos y nos dejaron 20 minutos, camarera acaba de gruñirnos. Pedimos bebidas, que llegaron con bastante prontitud. Pedimos comida, el entrante se quedó sentado e incluso después de que pedí que lo despejaran, no lo hicieron hasta que llegó el principal y no cabía en la mesa. La comida estaba bien, tal vez un 6 / 10. El servicio fue impactante, 1/10. Tampoco estaba ocupado, temía pensar cómo era cuando estaba lleno.

Looking for a good Mexican on a quick drop off visit to Stuttgart and we found it, great setting (don’t let the frontage give the wrong impression) as soon as you get inside decor and design make for a lovely environment. Menu varied and well described, food quality excellent and staff really helpful. Would recommend to all and sad we won’t make it back again!

Very nice atmosphere and delicious food

The food was good, but we had to wait about 45 minutes even though the restaurant wasn't even half full. The cocktails in both the pitcher and the glass were also quite carelessly prepared. A pity.

Five of us had dinner there yesterday. Even though it was relatively full and we didn't have a reservation, the food came quickly. The plates were beautifully presented. Unfortunately it didn't taste good at all. We often eat Mexican food, one of us is Mexican herself and two others have lived there for years. Yesterday, however, it had nothing to do with Mexican food. When we wanted to pay, we were ignored for over 20 minutes. There was no tip, so we weren't even told “bye”, we just turned around and left. Nobody cared why all the plates were still full to the brim. A pity.

It surprises me that the food is so praised by so many reviews. Please don't misunderstand, it's not bad. But I don't think the quality is good enough for the prices charged. If a main course costs €20 or more, I expect it to be perfect. Unfortunately, the parts of the food that were supposed to be hot were lukewarm at best and the taste was ok, but nothing special. However, the waiter who served us was excellent: friendly, attentive and in a good mood. Thanks for that! The atmosphere in the restaurant is chic, but the acoustics are actually not that great. The places outside in the courtyard are between several tall buildings and are therefore not super comfortable, but of course that's no surprise given the location. So no broken leg. The best thing in my opinion is definitely the cocktail menu. Absolutely recommended for a cozy evening with cocktails and a few small snacks, but I probably wouldn't come here just to eat anymore.

The food was great as always. There is always excellent meat. The staff is super friendly. Unfortunately it's always a bit noisy in the restaurant, so it's not quite 5 points, but you know that and knowingly accept it when making the reservation.

Update: We called the restaurant manager and reported the matter. I have to say he was really very professional and accommodating. He apologized for the waiter and even offered us a replacement meal. Hence the 3 stars. It was one of the worst moments I've ever had to experience in a restaurant. I went here with friends to have dinner. The waiter was very unfriendly and arrogant from the start. Even when we ordered, he barely looked at us and lectured me that I couldn't order correctly! (Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish so I couldn't pronounce the names correctly). I politely pointed out to him that the behavior was not very pleasant for me as a guest. He showed no reaction and didn't apologize. When I paid, he completely ignored me and just handed me the bill. I felt deeply uncomfortable and don't understand how anyone could treat a guest in such a condescending manner. However, the food was quite good. Unfortunately I won't come a second time.

Ich war wirklich enttäuscht von meinem Besuch in diesem Restaurant. Das Steak, das ich bestellt habe, war schlecht gekocht – es war zäh und geschmacklos. Das schlimmste war jedoch die irreführende Speisekarte. Es wird suggeriert, dass ein Steak für zwei Personen 30€ kostet, aber tatsächlich kostet es 30€ pro Person! Dies ist ein klarer Versuch, die Gäste abzuzocken und ist absolut inakzeptabel. Ich werde dieses Restaurant definitiv nicht weiterempfehlen und werde nicht wiederkommen. Passt auf, bevor ihr hier esst!

I was really disappointed with my visit to this restaurant. The steak I ordered was poorly cooked - it was tough and tasteless. The worst thing, however, was the misleading menu. It is suggested that a steak for two people costs €30, but it actually costs €30 per person! This is a clear attempt to rip off guests and is completely unacceptable. I definitely will not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning. Be careful before you eat here!

The restaurant has a great vibe. It is very clean and organized. They food was also amazing. We are always on the lookout for good Mexican in Germany and this place hit the spot!

Joe Pena's is a Mexican restaurant in Stuttgart. It is furnished in the typical Mexican style with a lot of wood, although due to the nature of the building there is a wide window front that provides light on one side, but also takes away some of the dark, cozy atmosphere on the other. However, since there is a large outdoor area adjacent to the window front, it does seem cozy. The food is classic Mexican, with nachos, enchiladas, etc. There is a daily special menu, for example Mondays are burger day. The food was very good, especially a special warm, slightly spicy sauce for the nachos. There are also “happy hour” times for cocktails for €7.50, although I found the glass to be relatively small. If you were to remove crushed ice, lime pieces and other ingredients from the glass, there wouldn't be much liquid left. Anyway, my Mojito was mixed great, but to quench your thirst it's better to order something else beforehand, otherwise the cocktail will be empty after one breath. In summary: A recommended restaurant with a nice atmosphere, where it's worth checking out promotions or special menus.

I had a very good experience at Joe Peñas. I had the nachos and chorizo, and I didn't hate it. I would consider this place on the better side of Mexican food in the Stuttgart area.

Joe Peñas is a really cool Mexican restaurant. The selection of drinks and especially cocktails is very good. There is a bit of a problem with eating. Mainly due to the price, the dishes have significantly higher prices for the same portion size as other Mexican restaurants. The selection of vegetarian dishes also leaves something to be desired, but I would say you can find something. The taquitos and mango queesedillas were excellent, leaving nothing to be desired. The selection and taste of the sauces were also convincing. I think the cheese sauce and peanut butter sauce are the best. Maybe come again. The ambience is very nice
