IZAKAYA Asian Fusion Kitchen Restaurant in Magdeburg

Food is not authentic... the same as any Asian snack bar but twice as expensive. Eating well in Germany is really difficult. :(

Very bad service, ordered online once and never again. Tall stories and no reliable communication.

Was there for my birthday with my wife. Everyone very friendly. We responded to special requests immediately. Food was super tasty. Always happy.

If I had known that IZAKAYA means "sitting in the sake shop", I would definitely have tried the rice wine. So we left it with white wine from Italy (Pinot Gris and Lugano), both of which were very tasty. Surprisingly, 7-8 dishes are advertised as signature dishes on the menu, although even top restaurants usually only highlight one or two. We had soup and then a sushi roll dish on one side and tempura chicken in curry sauce on my side, which we were very happy with. The service was extremely friendly. The prices are moderate to normal. With the menus, which are slightly more expensive in comparison, I couldn't immediately identify a "buying argument". On my second visit, I noticed that the operators describe their style of cooking as Asian-Fusion Kitchen. The restaurant was originally advertised as Japanese. I hear from my Japanese acquaintances that anyone who wants to eat real Japanese food in MD has a hard time and ends up going to places where ramen soups are the main focus. That probably didn't correspond to the operators' concept and so the Izakaya joins the ranks of the "long-established" and very successful Quilin, the Hjaku Mizu and many Vietnamese restaurants that have jumped on the bandwagon of popular fusion cuisine. The operators are mostly very hard-working North Vietnamese people who are surprisingly reliable in their commitment to quality. Conclusion: A visit is recommended, also because you sit very comfortably and the lighting is very pleasant. The fusion cuisine praised at Izakaya is also offered at other places in MD, perhaps with a less fancy approach. However, original Japanese cuisine is less common here and in the restaurants mentioned above.

Food very tasty, staff leaves something to be desired.

Danger! Any voucher promotions will be rejected immediately. There was no willingness to compromise or understanding. It's a shame when you drive there and are then turned away like that.

Medium-sized restaurant a little away from the center of Magdeburg. A colorful selection of sushi variations and meat or fish dishes. Portions generous and tasty. Price wise higher average. The rather slow service was less positive. The service was friendly and nice, but you had to repeatedly ask where the order was. It was also not seen that the drinks were empty. So that can still be expanded. The toilets could have been cleaner. Because of the good food, I would happily recommend the restaurant!

The udon soup that was delivered was basically unseasoned. The crunchy sushi was super greasy and soggy, inedible consistency. For an order value of €30 I expected a little more quality

Cozy, ambience, delicious dishes

The two of us were there for dinner. We got a seat at the window and were served friendly. Unfortunately, the waitress was difficult to understand due to her accent. You had to ask more often. The food was served after a reasonable time. We had the special menu, which consists of 4 courses: miso soup, Japanese tapas, mixed sushi variations and mochi ice cream. The food was very, very good and very tasty! The dressing on the salad from the Japanese tapas was particularly good and the sushi variations were excellent! We were very excited about it! Gladly again at any time!

A really, really great restaurant! All the dishes tasted very good, it was very quick and the atmosphere is really cozy with a lot of attention to detail!

Excellent Asian restaurant with delicious Japanese cuisine I recently visited Asia Fusion Kitchen and absolutely loved it! The sushi was simply fantastic, probably the best I've had in this area so far. The baked prawns were also delicious – perfectly cooked and incredibly fresh. There was also a delicious tea, which rounded off the whole experience. The ambience of the restaurant is very elegant and stylish, which immediately makes you feel at home. I would particularly like to highlight the great service: the service was extremely friendly and attentive. Overall, a really great restaurant that I can highly recommend. A must for anyone who loves quality Asian cuisine!

If you want to support the Axis powers, you should go. Otherwise: Food is good, but far too little and what little is far too expensive. In addition, even with moderate utilization, you wait forever. The friendliness, however, is more than OK.

We went there for dinner with a larger group. The food was very great. Nobody had any complaints, everyone thought it was delicious. The prices are tough, that's true. But due to inflation I think it is justified. The service takes time. Drinks took a while, as did the food. I don't know if it's cultural. It didn't bother me, we had time.

Unfortunately I now have to reduce the food from 4 stars to 3 stars. You used to be really good and the soups as well as the dishes as well as the Suhsi had a kick, currently everything tastes bland and you get 70% rice and the rest of the Schützenfest you ordered! The service is attentive and friendly, but often does not understand the guests' wishes. There are much better alternatives in Magdeburg! It's a shame, finally use the potential: Stadtfeld needs good restaurants! We'll be happy to come back if the quality and price are right again!

Unfortunately, I was very dissatisfied with my order from this restaurant. The dishes delivered were not what I ordered and delivery took much longer than stated. Overall a disappointing experience

Delivery took 2 hours instead of 30-50 minutes, there was also an order 1 and get two promotion, in the end everything arrived in one item. Another minus is that you cannot pay in cash. The food is not very tasty, even if you order one and get two, it’s still a shame to spend money for such food

Nice little shop with a nice atmosphere right on the street corner. You can eat excellent sushi there. The staff was very friendly and generally helpful. What was a little disturbing was that the condition was that the first plates were put away while we were still eating. All in all, a recommendation.

The service was good but a bit slow at times. We had to ask for napkins and cutlery a couple of times before we got it. I think the food quality has gone down from the last time we ate here. The ambience is still cute outside with the red decorations and the wooden vibes. Our server was Kai and finally we got the food we requested. They mixed a starter with someone else’s but it was resolved in 5 seconds when we mentioned it and the next order came out!

I was there a while ago, but I'm just now getting around to writing. I was with people in this restaurant and let me tell you, we got up and left. The map was makeshift and somehow we couldn't find anything. I had the money you always have with you, but a fish plate cost 106 euros according to the menu. Sad. Not that I didn't have enough money, but I didn't have 500 euros for 3 people.

You can do it. The udon noodle soup wasn't exactly the awakening experience, you can get it better in Magdeburg. Grilled duck really tender. You should probably go for the fish (unusually many varieties) and the grilled specialties from the lava grill (without having tried them yet).

To be honest, I expected more. The menu is very sushi-heavy, there is very little selection of “normal dishes” such as rice with vegetables and meat. Then I decided on a dish. When it arrived, it was so spicy that you almost couldn't taste anything else. A reference to this on the map would have been nice, then I would have chosen something else. In my opinion, the size of the portion was not necessarily appropriate given the high price. Rice was only available in a tiny bowl. I also tried the sushi, which was really delicious. The service was very friendly, but not at the table very often. All in all, I found the visit okay, but would give preference to other well-known restaurants of this type.

Food disappointing, service was non-existent.

The service leaves a lot to be desired. Nice restaurant in a nice atmosphere. The food was good, but nothing more. Given the prices, I would have expected a little more. The restaurant is modernly furnished. However, the service was subpar. 8-10 occupied tables and 2 waiters were apparently completely overwhelmed or simply listless. Forgot orders for 2 drinks, ok that can happen. There was no apology. Then waited another 20 minutes for 2 drinks. Empty plates stood at the next table for about 45 minutes until the young man finally decided to clear them away. Last but not least, he brought us a false bill. We were kind enough to point this out to the waiter otherwise we would have saved €50. We found the food a bit overpriced and the service very unsuitable.

The food is very good, but long waiting time

We were there today. The food was generally ok, but not great. The portions are quite manageable, but a bit expensive. The salman (salmon) was fried for far too long and was therefore dry. The sauces are very watery, the taste is ok, not outstanding. The sushi was good. The rice is an absolute disgrace. There was a small bowl with the dish, which was far too little. When we asked, we were given 2 more bowls, each of which cost an additional €1.50. I've never experienced anything like that. The ginger ale was warm, the waiter spoke little German and no English. You would expect a lot more with this atmosphere and the prices.

Otherwise very satisfied but today I had to wait forever for my sushi. It finally arrived when my family had finished their meal. Service tried very hard, but obviously a bit overwhelmed. Drinks mixed up - prices too high. It's a shame - otherwise a nice location.

Super friendly and polite Personal. The sushi and miso soup were simply perfect.

I didn't know what to expect from the description but I ended up being very pleasantly surprised. The food and tea was great, the shrimp were of a great quality, if a bit cold already. I am pretty sure the desserts were not made fresh but purchased because I buy ones that taste very similar and come in exactly the same glasses. 😉 But the quality was good, even if it can't compare with a hand made green-tea tiramisu at Jen-Ramen. Still 5 stars for the main dish!

After we were very satisfied with the restaurant, we also tried the delivery service today. We had chicken tempura and the sake menu. The chicken was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. It went very well with the rice, vegetables and coconut curry and was very tasty. The sushi varieties were fresh and also very tasty.

Very pleasant atmosphere, super delicious food, even at the soft opening. The prices correspond to the higher level.

We spontaneously went to the restaurant on Olvenstedter Straße for lunch. The food and service are first class and the prices are very moderate. This restaurant will be my first choice in the future.

Very good and authentic Japanese restaurant. The service was incredibly friendly and kind. We arrived relatively late - 20 minutes before closing time and were treated to the fullest extent with beautifully prepared food. Very happy again.

We went to the restaurant for the first time on a Saturday. Unfortunately my online reservation doesn't seem to have worked out, but we still got a table for two people. The service was great, fast service, very nice and you got good explanations if you were unsure. Everything about the food was also great, it was really tasty and we were well advised on the large selection.

The chicken in a tempura coating with coconut curry sauce was really great, every bite was a pleasure... the service was friendly and quick. Small drawbacks: it doesn't look very inviting from the outside and the light in the toilet didn't work (but that has definitely been fixed, and they also responded very friendly to the notice).

Money-making instead of good service! Unfortunately, despite having a reservation, we had to wait outside in the rain for a free table on Valentine's Day. The queue in front of us thinned out after about 30 minutes and we finally got our turn. Unfortunately, we got the impression of commercially motivated mismanagement, as there were obviously far too many tables reserved and understandably people didn't want to eat quickly like in a chip shop and understandably wanted to take their time and therefore other guests couldn't get a table despite reservations. After waiting in line, we still didn't stay after looking at the menu because we were forced to order the Valentine's menu since no other dishes were offered that day. Unfortunately, this course cost €45 per person and that without drinks and I think you have to say very clearly that the focus here is not on customer satisfaction but on profit. In my opinion, collecting 100 euros per couple in a completely overcrowded restaurant is a disgrace because, as mentioned, you were forced to take this menu. I would have appreciated an advance warning because it would have saved me the 30 minutes of waiting. Never again! And if it were possible I would give 0 stars, sorry

The service is just terrible. We booked a table for Valentine's Day evening but for some reason there were no free tables and we had to stand in a queue of people who had also booked. When we finally got in and took a table it turned out that there was only one special holiday offer from the large menu which was €45 per person and wasn't mentioned anywhere else. It's not clear why they didn't write about it on the website or warn us about the reservation, because you come to eat and you get the following restrictions

Sehr sehr empfehlenswerter Laden! Die Auswahl ist trotz der überschaubaren Karte sehr groß. Qualität, Frische und handwerkliche Perfektion bekommt man hier zu einem absolut fairen Preis. Auch die Nachspeisen sind hervorragend! Relativ schnörkellos und klar präsentiert, trotzdem mit dem gewissen Etwas. Sehr netter, unauffälliger Service und moderne aber äußerst gemütliche Atmosphäre. Mit den Öffentlichen, sowie fußläufig vom Hauptbahnhof zügig und gut zu erreichen. Alles in allem eines der besten Sushirestaurants Deutschlands.

Finally a restaurant with taste, especially on the plate. Very aromatic dishes are served here. The price-performance ratio is good. The small appetizers (tapas) are particularly recommended. The quality is simply excellent. The restaurant is decorated in a very modern way. Particularly worth mentioning is the atmosphere, very quiet, you can have a good conversation. The sound system with music is subtle. The service staff still seem very unsure, but they try hard and are very friendly and accommodating. This was definitely not the last visit!

Most delicious sushi in Magdeburg! Definitely recommend their sushi platter for two and the creme brûlée paired with a Vietnamese coffee 🥰 Lovely staffs, would visit again 🫶🏽

Das Izakaya ist ein asiatisches Restaurant mit sehr schönem Ambiente. Die Auswahl an Speisen ist groß. Von Suppen, asiatische Vorspeisen, Sushi, Grillteller Fisch und Fleisch, gibt es auch Menüs. Die Preise für die Grillplatten (Fisch, Fleisch) sind sehr hochpreisig im Verhältnis zu dem, was auf dem Teller dargeboten wid. Für die Vorspeisen trifft dies analog auch zu. Das Ceviche vom Lachs, Weißfisch mit Avocado war geschmacklich nicht sehr intensiv. Schade. Die gegrillten Jacobsmuscheln japanische Art wurden auf einem Löffel mit etwas Brühe serviert. Das Gemüse und die Kräuter wie auf der Menü-Karte dargestellt, fehlten und entsprachen optisch sowie geschmacklich nicht den Erwartungen. Das Entrecote wurde mit einem doch langweiligem Salat ohne Dressing auf den Tisch gebracht. Als Dessert wurde eine Crème brûlée mit Früchten serviert. Leider war die Crème nicht hausgemacht, sondern zugekauft im Standardglas und geschmacks- neutral. Preis-Leistung nicht gegeben. Die Aperitifs waren gut, wenn auch etwas zu teuer. Die Präsentation der Teller und Getränke war abgestimmt und gut. Verbesserungswürdig: Wer asiatisches Bier (Thailand, China, Japan & Co) sucht, findet es nicht in der Getränkekarte. Das ist ein Manko. Die Menü-Karte ist gut und übersichtlich gestaltet, jedoch stören die Reflektionen des Lichts auf den Folieneinfassungen der Seiten beim Lesen. Das Speisen, Dessert und Getränke- konzept sollte noch einmal betrachtet werden. Fazit: Insgesamt kommt das Izakaya sehr stylisch und aufgeräumt daher, das Angebot ist gut, aber etwas hochpreisig. Einige Dinge sind verbesserungswürdig. Der Service ist schnell und freundlich. Die Atmosphäre ist gut.

Leider ein totaler Reinfall. Wir hatten als Familie für Heilig Abend 2023 zu 16.30 Uhr einen Tisch reserviert und zwei Bestätigungsmails bekommen. Am 24.12. standen wir dann allerdings vor verschlossenen Türen. Eine absolute Katastrophe! Auf unsere Beschwerde über das Kontaktaformular vom IZAKAYA wurde bis heute nicht reagiert. Eine Entschuldigung für den fatalen Fehler wäre angebracht gewesen. Ich hoffe, dass andere Gäste nicht in so eine Situation kommen!

Viel zu lange Wartezeiten und dafür war es nicht unbedingt herausragendes Essen. Zudem war es das falsche Essen. Nach 1,5 Stunden war das Essen immer noch nicht da. Zudem gab es für dieses Fauxpas noch nicht mal eine Entschuldigung. Des weiteren ist das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht gegeben. Aus diesem Grund kann ich es nicht empfehlen. Man kann definitiv woanders besser essen.

Wir waren am Wochenende zum Geburtstag hier, außerhalb der Stoßzeiten (Samstags 14:00Uhr) und waren alle sehr begeistert. Toller und freundlicher Service, Karte mit toller Auswahl, das Lokal sehr schick eingerichtet, ruhig, gediegen, schöne Atmosphäre. Das Essen war sehr lecker, egal ob Sushi, Udon-Nudeln oder Chicken. Wir waren zu 99% zufrieden. Einziges Manko ist, dass die Preise für Sushi schon teilweise recht teuer sind. Ansonsten eines der besten Lokale in Magdeburg. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Ich kann das Essen leider nicht bewerten, da wir das Restaurant wieder verlassen haben. Als wir ankamen, waren einige wenige Tische besetzt. Trotzdem dauerte es, bis überhaupt, die Getränkebestellung aufgenommen wurde, danach füllte sich das Lokal. Es dauerte wieder lange, bis die Getränke dann geliefert worden. Wir bestellten dann auch gleich das Essen, als die Getränke kamen. Nach mehr als 30 Minuten wurde uns dann mitgeteilt, dass es das Essen, welches wir bestellt haben nur mittags gibt. Wir sollten was anderes wählen. Ein Tisch neben uns war schon vor uns da und hatte auch noch kein Essen. Wir haben dann die Getränke bezahlt und sind gegangen. Ich persönlich werde das Lokal nicht noch mal besuchen obwohl Freunde meinen, das Essen wäre sehr gut.

Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Ambiente sher angenehm. Vor-und Nachspeise waren ebenso sehr gut.

Es hat ein wenig gedauert, bis das Essen serviert wurde (45 min), allerdings war es an dem Tag auch sehr voll. Meine Udon Suppe war gut, die Brühe hätte aber noch ein bisschen würziger sein können und ein wenig mehr Gemüse als Beilage hätte auch nicht geschadet. Für den Preis war es mir dann zu teuer. Ansonsten war der Service sehr nett.
