The food is very tasty and the staff are friendly.

First off: I've never actually eaten there. I'm only writing this review because Lieferando advertises them as 100% halal, yet they also sell alcohol. Well, if that makes them feel good about it...

Well, in my opinion the price was too high and in the end the customer simply rounded up the amount and gave themselves a tip - no receipt was given - so the calculation was only possible the next time and led to the unpleasant result described here.

We ordered döner and pita. The döner was delicious, but we didn't like the pita. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't quite like pita, so we didn't like it. If the bread was changed and the filling was a little more elaborate, it could be even better. The staff was also good.

As soon as I entered the restaurant I was warmly welcomed and the cozy atmosphere immediately put me in a good mood. The food was absolutely amazing! I tried the meze and kebab, and wow – they were so delicious! You can tell that real craftsmanship and fresh ingredients are at work here. And the desserts? Simply heavenly! The service was super attentive and friendly, which made the whole meal even better. If you fancy real Turkish cuisine, then definitely stop by the Istanbul Restaurant. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!😃😋

Doner kebab test: three shops in comparison We tested three different kebab shops in Herdecke (Laylam, Istanbul Restaurant and Döneria) and rated them based on several criteria: meat quality, bread, sauces, freshness of the salad, value for money and service. Here are our detailed reviews: 1. Laylam – Grade: 3- Laylam impresses with a very tasty, fresh bread, which forms a good base for the kebab. The salad is also crisp and fresh, which provides a pleasant texture. The sauces are well balanced in terms of taste and complement the kebab well overall. Unfortunately, the meat is not of particularly high quality, which is noticeable in both the taste and the consistency. It seems dry and not juicy enough, which makes the entire kebab taste a bit flabby. This is particularly unfortunate because the other components are actually promising. The staff is friendly, but the relationship with the guests is somewhat lacking - you don't really feel welcome or particularly valued. In terms of price, Laylam is in the middle range, so neither particularly cheap nor expensive. Comparison: • Better than Döneria when it comes to bread and salad, but weaker when it comes to meat. • Worse than Istanbul Grill because the meat is dry and the overall package seems less coherent. 2. Istanbul Grill – Grade: 2 Istanbul Grill scores with a very good overall concept. The bread is delicious and fresh, the meat is juicy and tastes good. The salad is crisp and fresh, which gives the kebab a pleasant lightness. A small point of criticism is the amount of sauce - it was exaggerated a bit, which means that the rest of the taste of the kebab is lost a little. A touch less sauce would probably have made the kebab perfect. The staff is particularly noteworthy: very accommodating, friendly and attentive - you really feel welcome here as a guest. In terms of price, Istanbul Grill is in the higher segment, but this is at least partly justified by the good quality. Comparison: • Better than Laylam in terms of meat quality and service. • Better than Döneria because the sauces and salad are fresher, but a bit too dominant. 3. Döneria – Grade: 3+ The Döneria has one great strength: the meat. It's the best of all the shops tested - crispy, flavorful and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, the other components are a little weak: the salad doesn't taste particularly fresh anymore, and the bread looks like it's a few days old. That's a shame, because with better bread and fresher salad the döneria would have a very good chance of getting a top rating. The staff is rather reserved, but the kebab is prepared very quickly, which is a clear plus point for hungry guests. In terms of price, Döneria is the best choice - here you get the most for your money. Comparison: • Better than Laylam in terms of meat quality, but worse in terms of bread and salad. • Cheaper than Istanbul Grill, but less harmonious overall picture. Overall conclusion: Every kebab shop has its strengths and weaknesses: • Istanbul Grill offers the most well-rounded package, but with a little too much sauce. • Döneria has the best meat, but is weak when it comes to bread and salad. • Laylam scores with bread and salad, but loses with dry meat. Which store is the best in the end depends on what you value most. Juicy meat? Then off to the Döneria. Friendly service and a balanced experience? Istanbul Grill. Crunchy salad and good bread? Laylam.

To be honest, 7 euros for a kebab that doesn't even contain much or plenty is a pretty big outrage! And a Lahmcaun that is already 8.50€ is already brazen, the cheapest kebab shop in Berlin doesn't even have a Lahmacun price like that, all other kebab shops sell kebabs for 6€ and Lahmacun 6-7€, this shop is not recommended, the owner before was much better and cheaper

I've been here 3 times today in a relatively short space of time. We ordered two plates, 1 with chicken and 2 with kofta. Everything delicious, fresh and really tasty. I think the value for money is great, the service is very nice. Reading some of the opinions I don't agree with it. I recommend it and my family and I will definitely come here. Our first time eating here but surprisingly tasty. I ordered the Champignons Schnitzel (9.5/10). The meat was juicy and flavorful with cheese and mushrooms on top. My husband ordered the Köfte Teller (9/10) and he loved it. To our surprise, we’re also given 2 free pieces of cake for dessert. So service and atmosphere 10/10.

The food there is great and service too. But unfortunately not the ambience. There is no soup. Too bad unfortunately.

The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. But the proportion to the prices should be reconsidered. My salad with tuna was at best a side dish size even though I ordered and paid for a large one and consisted mostly of coleslaw and the hard white part of an iceberg lettuce.

Delivery came quite quickly. Unfortunately, every time I've ordered there, the meat has been too dry.

Good snack bar with plenty of seating, including outside. The service was friendly and quick. The food, we had the chicken kebab plate, was delicious and the price was absolutely right. Gladly again.

It was good but way too expensive

Sorry, but that was nothing. I can understand that you have to survive and prices have to go up. But then the quality should also be right. We had ordered a burger from the menu and a currywurst bag. The burger was completely burnt and tasted that way. The roll in the bag was limp and only contained sausage with sauce. The only good thing was the fries and the quick delivery.

Perfect kebab without competition

Ordered a veal doner kebab to take away for the first time today, unfortunately I have to say that the meat was not optimal, some had gristly fat and even had a bone splinter in it. Doner sauce was very economical and the bread was almost untoasted. It's a shame, for the price of €7.50, otherwise the service and selection of side dishes were ok.

Unhygienic conditions! Afterwards we both felt pretty sick and we got herpes for free! Waitress tried hard despite a lot of customers. The boss responded to our criticism with understanding, argued why it was like that, but there was no reason for us to prepare unhygienic food

Ich hatte einen etwas anderen Eindruck als meine Vorredner. Meine Sucuk Tasche war voll in Ordnung, nicht zu üppig aber angemessen so das sie noch essbar war, die Soße und das Brot hatten ebenfalls geschmeckt. Alles war sauber und ordentlich, Toilette ebenfalls mit dem großen Pluspunkt, es gab feuchtes Toilettenpapier von Tempo. 😁 Gerade im solch zentralen Ecken bin ich hauptsächlich kaputte Brillen, kein Papier, Mief gewohnt. Alles in allem: Hier war's heute schön und ich komme gerne wieder 🙏😅

Ich war hier das erste mal essen und es hat prima geschmeckt. Die Köftetasche war frisch zubereitet und gut gewürzt. Das Personal war höflich und der Preis von 9€ mit Getränke angemessen. Hier würde ich wieder essen gehen.

Für einen Familiengeburtstag haben wir eine große und sehr abwechslungsreiche Essensbestellung ("Party 2") aufgegeben. Das Essen ist unfassbar lecker und frisch. Wir sind begeistert! Das wird nicht das letzte Mal sein, dass wir hier bestellen 😊

Einen super leckeren Grillteller gegessen. Gut gewürzt und frisch vorbereitet. Die Bedienung war freundlich.

1,5 h aufs Essen gewartet, obwohl 45min angegeben waren und nach 60min die Lieferando Nachricht kam, dass die Bestellung gleich da wäre. Trotz telefonischer Nachfrage ("ist unterwegs" und Distanz sind 800m) hats noch 20 min gedauert! Ganz schlecht. Keine Empfehlung. Wer das nicht schafft und nicht ehrlich ist, bekommt von mit kein Geld mehr.

Wir arbeiten um die Ecke und holen uns oft etwas zum Mittagessen. Es wird immer alles frisch zubereitet und das Brot ist selbst gebacken. Die Köfte ist frisch gegrillt und das schmeckt man auch. Bitte weiter so. Egal wenn der Döner woanders günstiger ist, der Preis ist nicht alles, wenn die Qualität super ist. Danke.

Wir haben hier super lecker Döner und Pizza (Kalb und Hähnchen) gegessen. Dort gibt es einen neapolitanischen Pizzabäcker der mit eigenen Rezepturen alles frisch zubereitet 🍅🍕🌯🥙 Das Personl war übrigens auch super nett und zuvorkommend - hat sich gelohnt dort zu Essen.
