Istanbul- in Minden

My 12-year-old brother bought a kebab to go after school and ate it right there. With his first bite, he tasted a big spider. When he asked the seller about it, he simply said he didn't believe it and that the spider was from outside. He didn't get his money back or a new kebab. My brother had to throw the kebab away. This kind of behavior is an absolute disgrace – very disgusting and unfriendly. Never again.

The food there is always delicious. I highly recommend it to everyone. There's a reason the shop has been around since 1997! I've known the employees for many years, and they're always friendly and polite.

We went there for dinner today after a colleague's birthday party, as it was the closest restaurant to his apartment. The food was really great, and the kebab man was really friendly and personable.

As someone more used to Berlin kebabs, I certainly have somewhat specific standards, but since I'm currently on vacation in Minden, I wanted to try the kebab in the area. I have to say that I more or less went to the first kebab shop I found nearby and ended up at Istanbul Döner Minden. I have no idea how representative the place is of Minden. It doesn't look particularly inviting, but at least you can sit inside or outside, and in the end, I took everything to go anyway. There are two skewers to choose from (both of which look a bit sad), falafel, fries, but no halloumi. I tried a falafel box with fries, my wife had a dürüm with regular meat, and we shared a portion of fries. The service was very friendly and everything was prepared quickly, although this was made more difficult by the fact that the fryer was a bit slow. Two things, however, I found pretty disgusting: the same tongs were used for the falafel as for the doner meat. I even had a piece of meat in the box. I'm not particularly sensitive about that, but as a vegetarian, I don't find it particularly tasty either. And one employee simply sneezed into his hand, which he then used to handle the food normally – without washing it in between, of course. Interesting: In addition to red cabbage, onions, and iceberg lettuce, there was also coleslaw, but not tomato/cucumber as standard. You could order that for an extra 50 cents (along with other things like jalapeños or olives). They didn't ask about the sauces either; they just threw garlic and herbs on top. Unfortunately, my wife didn't really like it. The meat was super dry, and the coleslaw made it taste rather German. I ordered the fries with mayo and garlic sauce, and in the end, they were almost drowned in it. The sauce itself was okay – not exciting, but not disgusting either. The fries were unspectacular. Rippled fries aren't my favorite, but that's a matter of taste. They were nice and crispy. They could have used a bit more salt, perhaps. The kebab box was a bit stingy with the sauce, so I asked for hot sauce, which they did. And hey: it was actually pretty tasty. There was a bit of heat, and it had lots of herbs. The falafel, on the other hand, were pretty wild. The flavor was actually quite good. It had a strong cumin flavor, which I'm not used to in Berlin, but I quite liked it. On the other hand, the texture was really awful. I don't think they were deep-fried, just warmed up somehow. In the end, they were lukewarm, not crispy at all, mushy and crumbly at the same time—not really tasty. I don't know what kebab shops are like in Minden, but Istanbul Döner doesn't exactly compare favorably to the average kebab shop in Berlin. The price was okay, but not super cheap. On the other hand, the portions were rather large, so we couldn't finish everything. In the end, we were (more than) full, still alive, and not feeling sick. So, you can basically fill yourself up here, but we weren't truly satisfied.

The doner kebab tastes delicious. Not your standard doner bread like at all the other places. Very friendly and helpful service. I really enjoy my doner kebab there!

Best kebab shop, very correct and friendly

Absolute disaster – don't do that to yourself! I ordered a kebab here, and it was by far the worst kebab I've ever eaten. There felt like less than 50 grams of meat in it, just a bit of lettuce and a blob of sauce that was barely noticeable. Simply dry, unloving, and completely disappointing. The kebab box was just as bad: a single, soggy fries – bone dry – and barely any meat. How can they even sell something like that? I can only strongly advise everyone not to go there. Save your money and your appetite. It was a complete waste of money and time. Never again!

The kebab. Was quite good. Open until 9 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., he told me in front of witnesses that he was eating on the go. No seating. Rude. When I pointed it out, he said: Have a nice evening, see you again. A reunion is not a good idea! Arrogance is crap...

We don't understand the bad reviews. Competition? The kebab was great, filled to the brim with meat, salad, and sauce, and at €5.50, it was a fair price. I'll eat it again on my next vacation. The service was very friendly, so we highly recommend it.

Good kebab in Minden. Owner is always nice and accommodating ;) Permanent customer, always delicious.

Without a doubt, one of the worst kebabs in all of Minden. I had meat, a toothpick filled it with meat, and the white cabbage was so coarsely chopped that it seriously spoiled the taste. The sauces smell of sweat. Sorry, never again!!

Small snack bar, unfortunately with only two standing tables. Very friendly service. I had a lahmacun, which tasted very good.

Better go to Königsdöner. What the owner offers here is okay, but it doesn't taste good and the meat was cold, he didn't even have the skewer on for half a minute and cut it down. Not worth €5

Preislich der beste Döner in Minden und auch geschmacklich sehr Stark. Außerdem sind die Verkäufer sehr nett. Hat sich die 5 Sterne auf jeden Fall verdient.

Ich esse regelmäßig mehrmals die Woche bei Istanbul. Der Preis ist im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen noch menschlich. Das Essen ist klasse und der Service ebenfalls.

Sehr nettes Personal und sehr leckerer Döner. Und das alles auch noch für nur 4,50€. Ist ohne zu übertreiben der beste Döner aus Minden!

Durch Zufall entdeckt. Ich übertreibe nicht, wenn ich sage, dass es der beste Döner Lahmacun war, den ich je gegessen habe. Ich bin Berufskraftfahrerin und habe schon in ganz Deutschland alles mögliche gegessen.. ich habe es mir auch nicht nehmen lassen und bin nochmal zurück und musste die beiden Herren loben! Top!

Döner sehr schmackhaft war für lange Zeit fast jeden Tag da essen, aber 1 Stern Abzug aufgrund der Preise die sich in letzter Zeit sehr stark erhöht haben. Schade

Enttäuschend derzeit!... War echt lange ein sehr zufriedener Kunde...hat immer geschmeckt und satt gemacht... : Aber aufgrund der viel zu heftigen Preiserhöhungen in Verbindung mit den viel zu klein werdenden Lamacun's (gefühlt könnte ich mittlerweile 2 davon essen um wirklich satt zu werden werden) muss ich hier leider eine negative Rezension loswerden...Da passt grade das Preis - Leistungsprinzip nicht mal annähernd!!!...

Einfach das beste was ich je gegessen habe war noch nie so zufrieden mit einem dönner. Das nennt man liebe.

2,50 Döner ist echt ein gutes Angebot für Schüler, ist bezahlbar, aber auch kleiner als andere Döner. Bedienung ist manchmal bischen komisch, aber da müssen wir durch.

Atmosfera plăcută, pizza delicioasa, angajații foarte amabili. În cazul în care nu ai rezervat o masa, poti servi la bar o băutură pana se eliberează una. Timpul de așteptare a fost de aproximativ 25 minute.
