Delicious, honestly cooked food. There were two of us as guests and we both ate fish. Well prepared, tasty side dishes, delicious Pommery mustard sauce. Good wines, well tempered, at good prices. We had a great evening. The location is wonderful, also attractive in the evenings.

We have often had to travel 1 hour to eat there, but unfortunately this time it had a bitter aftertaste. I had reserved a table a few weeks in advance. When I arrived I was told that the table would only be available for one hour, after I looked a bit disbelieving it was then increased to 1 hour 20 minutes. This was neither mentioned when we made the reservation over the phone nor was we offered an alternative table upon arrival without a time limit. Normally I would have left immediately if we hadn't been invited. Conclusion: We were quickly fobbed off with food and drinks; the question about dessert or coffee was never asked again. The food was very tasty, you can't say anything about it, but the rest unfortunately really spoiled our pre-Christmas meal. When making a reservation, I therefore always recommend asking whether the table is limited in time so that you don't have to eat in unison. The kitchen and food deserve 5 stars

Top fresh fish - top service. Always recommended.

We were there today, like many times before. We had reserved and were really looking forward to it. When we arrived we were given a time estimate of 1 to 1.5 hours. The food then arrived in piecemeal and no one asked in between whether they should order drinks. Unfortunately we were there for the last time. Two stars because the food was delicious.

We ate in the restaurant. Unfortunately it was dark, otherwise we would have really enjoyed the great location with a view of the Rhine. The food and service were excellent. There were three of us. We were all thrilled. My roast beef was on point, the side dishes were delicious and the pepper sauce was awesome.

Delicious food, but everything a little stale

We had lunch and we've never had such a good fish dish before. Conditions super friendly. It almost doesn't get any better. The location is very nice but when the ferry stops running it is not so nice to take a walk.

Very tasty and portions generous. We ate well and deliciously and treated ourselves to this for our wedding anniversary. Staff friendly and nice. I can recommend fried eel and zander. I have known this restaurant for 50 years and the quality of its fish dishes has never changed. The location of the restaurant is spectacular.

We were there on October 5/6, 24 with 7 people. We arrived by bike and had a great place to park with a power supply to charge the eBike batteries. The food was excellent, the service and the landlady were very friendly. Great rooms and a sumptuous breakfast made the weekend a complete experience. Price and performance also fit well. Highly recommended, we would love to come back.

Actually recommended as a fish restaurant. But the requested reservation is complicated and not possible in our case. We wanted to make a reservation on a weekday with a group of 8 people. That wasn't possible because you couldn't put tables together. Two tables, although four at a distance, would probably be possible. It's a shame, but the farewell dinner took place on the other side of the Rhine

The Inselgasthof Nass am Rhein is an absolute insider tip for a trip into nature. There is no restaurant in the area that offers such a large selection of fresh fish dishes. The fact that the house is always fully booked clearly speaks for the quality. The portions are generous and the inn is traditionally run by the family that owns it - that shows in every respect. The staff is extremely friendly and competent. No matter whether it's fish, meat, vegetables or drinks, you always get a well-founded recommendation. I strongly advise making reservations before visiting. In terms of price, the restaurant is in the upper middle class, but the quality and portion sizes fully justify this. A digestive walk along the Rhine after eating is also highly recommended. Clear recommendation!

The restaurant is probably aimed at an older crowd 60+, but I didn't like it that much. The waiter wasn't really friendly, you had to keep asking for the drinks. The portions were too big for me personally. The noodles were too salty. Otherwise the starter and salad were delicious. It's very busy, just like canteens. I wouldn't necessarily go there again.

Seit 2010 sind wir mehrfach im Jahr gerne die 90 km bis zum Inselgasthof Nass gefahren, weil der Weg es uns wert war, um in bürgerlichem Ambiente gut zubereiteten frischen Fisch serviert zu bekommen, und ausserdem die umliegende Natur nebst Rhein zu genießen. Beim letzten Besuch bekamen wir von einer genervten Platzanweiserin den von uns bestellten Tisch aus der Ferne mit dem Finger gezeigt und wurden dann stehen gelassen. Wie gut, daß im Eingangsbereich ein Bilderrahmen mit Fotoportrait vom Opa (der sonst hinter der Theke stand) aufgestellt war, sonst hätten wir womöglich noch gedacht, daß wir im falschen Restaurant gelandet sind. Am Tisch wurden wir wie gewohnt freundlich bedient, aber leider wurde nicht wie gewohnt, ein perfekt filetiert und gebratenes Mittelstück vom Kabeljau serviert, sondern zum 2. Mal in diesem Jahr zwei ausgebackene Schwanzstücke mit Haut und Gräten... Es scheint, mit der gut gelungenen Renovierung von Gasträumen und Sanitär sind ein paar für uns wichtige Qualitätsmerkmale verloren gegangen, darum haben wir zu unserem großen Bedauern entschieden, vorerst nicht mehr wiederzukommen. Schade eigentlich!

The best fish restaurant I know. In addition, in a beautiful landscape. Please take a detour to Rees beforehand, the most beautiful town on the Lower Rhine. The dining room has been redesigned. Nicely modernized. New, deep windows - so you can see the beautiful Rhine panorama from every seat. If the toilets are renovated now everything will be great. The food was great as always. CONGRATULATIONS

Wir waren dort mit fünf Personen zum Essen an einem Samstag (mittags). Wir selbst kannten dieses Lokal vorher nicht (die weiteren Familienmitglieder schon) und waren bei der Anreise überrascht, als sich recht unerwartet eine Aussicht wie im Urlaub eröffnete, die man auch von der Terrasse des Lokals genießen kann. Eigentlich hatten wir einen Tisch im Innenbereich reserviert, konnten dann aber wegen des guten Wetters problemlos doch auf die Terrasse wechseln. Das gesamte Lokal inkl. Terrasse ist offensichtlich modernisiert und ansprechend eingerichtet und dekoriert. Die Tische auf der Terrasse waren sehr einladend (!) dekoriert. Das Lokal war sehr gut besucht, aber nicht überfüllt. Die Servicemitarbeiter waren alle sehr freundlich, "unser" Kellner war nicht nur bemüht, sondern auch fähig und sehr charmant und schnell. Er hatte einen guten Überblick und war wirklich ein gutes Beispiel für einen "Dienstleister von/vom Herzen". Er hat durch seine Art zu einem schönen Aufenthalt beigetragen. Aber Charme und guter Service sind ja nicht (ausschließlich) entscheidend. Wie war das Essen? Eine ausreichend umfangreiche Speisekarte, tendenziell eher für Fisch-Esser, aber auch für Nicht-Fisch-Esser (wie mich). Es wurden verschiedene Gerichte bestellt, überwiegend dann Fischgerichte und ich wählte ein Steak. Beilagensalate waren sehr lecker, die Hauptgerichte auch. Die anderen lobten die Bratkartoffeln. Mein Fleischgericht war wirklich gut und wie bestellt (medium). Der Besuch hat sich gelohnt: Tolle Lage mit Ausblick, sehr guter Service und auch wirklich gutes Essen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

We have enjoyed visiting the restaurant for many years and look forward to the fish. I really like eating pike perch. Last time I almost had to look for the fish portion on the plate. It can happen sometimes and I have ignored it. Last Saturday the fish was fried so dry that it soon got stuck in my throat. In addition, the fish was not seasoned. I don't understand how you can fry a fish so badly. I've never experienced this before. It's a shame because it was always an experience for us to eat there. In addition, the ordered food does not have to be on the table in 5 minutes. I think that every guest brings a little time to enjoy. Maybe that's where the problem lies? Quick, quick... and then something like this happens?

Fresh fish, good service, very pleasant atmosphere. The friendly, quick and very polite service topped off the, as usual, excellent food. Today I tried a pinsa with salmon, shrimp, green asparagus and wild garlic cream: very good. My personal best of: - The steamed cod with mustard sauce is a poem. - Monkfish always works :-) Everything just fits here.

The food is delicious, but I got a worm in the lemon on the fish. No one returned the money, and there was not even any apology.

Large menu, lots of fish to choose from, large portions, you'll be full and have a very tasty meal with a great view.

The one-hour drive from Essen to Rees was worth it again. Wonderful selection of fish dishes, delicious salad and: great fried potatoes. The crowning glory was the dessert: rhubarb compote with fresh strawberries, vanilla cream, cream and, as an extra, a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Service attentive and friendly. Prices a little higher, but absolutely appropriate for the level. Great view of the Rhine, which flows right in front of the door.

Die einstündige Fahrt von Essen nach Rees hat sich wieder gelohnt. Herrliche Auswahl an Fischgerichten, leckerer Salat und: tolle Bratkartoffeln. Die Krönung war das Dessert: Rhabarberkompot mit frischen Erdbeeren, Vanillecreme, Sahne und als Extra eine Kugel Vanilleeis. Bedienung aufmerksam und freundlich. Preise etwas höher, aber dem Niveau absolut angemessen. Toller Blick auf den Rhein, der direkt vor der Tür vorbei fließt.

Hello dear restaurant - hostess with team, as well as guests of all kinds! Before I write these lines today, I read through some of the “somewhat to major reviews” from other guests. I have to say, in my opinion most of the reviews are completely baseless - poorly rated and poorly or not at all justified. I recommend these people: stay away! Now to my impressions from the last visit to the restaurant on May 18th, 2024. By the way, all of our previous visits were like that too! Unfortunately we haven't stayed at the hotel yet, we only live 61 km away. Location: Access from the highway and the "narrow" streets, as well as the location = 5/5! Service: Friendly service in clean and well-groomed clothing = 5/5! Food and drinks, ...: We were and are again this time - very enthusiastic - please also give a big compliment to the kitchen! = 5/5! Ambiance, toilets, new + larger restaurant, outdoor area + parking spaces: Something has changed enormously for the better everywhere! = 5/5! The boss: She took over her father's big ship very well, converted it into an even better ship in difficult times and even remained close to the people. She also definitely has the “mice dancing on the tables” (not mine) under control! = 5/5! Conclusion: Overall 5/5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 If there was a 10/10. No problem! We'd love to come back!

Excellent cuisine, stylish restaurant. It's great that a restaurant like this has maintained this quality for 5 decades.

On May 15th, 2024 we went to dine at Nass again - as we have often done in the past - and so far we have never had anything to complain about, on the contrary, we have always been more than satisfied! Unfortunately this time there was a slump in the preparation of the food! There were five of us and we ordered two meat dishes and three fish dishes. The meat dishes and a fish dish (with salmon) were great! Two fish dishes (fried zander fillet and lemon sole fillet), on the other hand, were almost completely fried to death! And that in an actually renowned fish restaurant?!! Eaten with “long teeth” but unfortunately only complained to the waiter afterwards! So far so good and actually our own fault! There was no response, only when the payment was made, when asked again, was the answer: “Unfortunately the boss is not in the house today and the mice are dancing on the tables”! Great reply! What else can you say about this?? Because of the good experiences we have had in the past, we will still give the restaurant another chance and open it again in 2-3 months.

Wir waren am 15.05.2024 mal wieder – wie schon oft in der Vergangenheit – zum Speisen bei Nass und bisher gab es nie etwas zu beanstanden, wir waren ganz im Gegenteil immer mehr als zufrieden! Leider gab es diesmal einen Einbruch bei der Zubereitung der Speisen! Wir waren zu fünft und haben zwei Fleischgerichte und drei Fischgerichte bestellt. Die Fleischgerichte und ein Fischgericht (mit Lachs) waren super! Zwei Fischgerichte (gebratenes Zanderfilet und Rotzungenfilet) dagegen fast total totgebraten! Und das in einem eigentlich renommierten Fischrestaurant?!! Gegessen mit „langen Zähnen“ aber leider auch erst nachher beim Kellner beschwert! Soweit so gut und eigentlich unsere eigene Schuld! Reaktion kam keine, erst bei der Bezahlung auf nochmalige Nachfrage die Antwort: „Der Chef ist heute leider nicht im Haus und da tanzen die Mäuse auf den Tischen“! Tolle Antwort! Was soll man dazu weiter sagen?? Ob der guten Erfahrungen der Vergangenheit werden wir dem Restaurant trotzdem noch einmal eine Chance geben und in 2 – 3 Monaten nochmal da aufschlagen.

I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. My grandparents used to come regularly - that was back in the 70s. The food and service were again top. Fresh, tasty, imaginative and inexpensive! Wet is in a class of its own!
