The food was very tasty and very nicely prepared. I had Bún Tofu and that was very good. Plus a very friendly service. We felt comfortable and would love to come back.

It was uncomfortably cold in the restaurant. After informing the owner, hot tea was provided. But it remained uncomfortable. Definitely not recommended when it's cold outside and a place near a drafty entrance. The Vietnamese dishes are good. The satay skewers as a starter were unfortunately fried instead of grilled and too dry.

This is my first negative review of a place, but I'm very disappointed, even though the people and service there are really nice. I ordered to take away: 29. GỎI ĐU ĐỦ TÔM - PAPAYA SALAD WITH SHRIMP, 14. SPECIAL MIX IN RICE FIELD and 81. CHUỐI CHIÊN - BAKED BANANA. The papaya salad was basically kohlrabi and carrots with a few sticks of papaya and wasn't marinated at all. Anyone who knows "real" ones will be totally disappointed. The chicken skewers in the special mix were neither marinated nor seasoned and were so dry and tough that the individual fibers "poked" in the mouth. The spring rolls were also fried to death and had a thick dough crust, with an indefinable minced filling or something similar. The two summer rolls were "puffed up" with just a cucumber stick and two mini shrimps, the rest were rice noodles, all unseasoned. Baked bananas the same, 2/3 batter coating, 1/3 banana fried beyond recognition. The dips...poor quality from the bottle. I love Asian cuisine, yes, and I also know that Vietnamese cuisine is down-to-earth and rather "roughly" rustic and not very seasoned. Here you should probably stick to the soups/broths (with lots of fatty pork belly). I have truly never been so disappointed with any of the three dishes. Even though I only ate a third of it (threw away the rest), my stomach felt bad afterwards.

We had dinner with the family in the rice field on a Saturday evening and were very satisfied. Food was delicious and service was incredibly attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be back. Thank you !

Very authentic Vietnamese food. Deliciously seasoned and attractively presented. Priced more than fair! The ambience could do with a refresh. It was certainly once an old restaurant from which parts of the furniture were used. But it's still very comfortable. Overall a great experience with super delicious food.

We liked the homemade lemonades best, very tasty!! Noodle soup was fresh (vegetable). The staff are very friendly. Finally, a baked banana covered in peanuts and honey was excellent. We will come more often 👍🏼

If you're craving authentic Vietnamese food, this restaurant is a must-visit! The owner is incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel right at home. The cozy vibe adds to the experience. We tried bánh xèo, beef noodles (bò xào), pork rice, desert we had chè bắp, and chuối chiên—all absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavors. As Vietnamese diners, we can confidently say this place is the real deal. Highly recommend!

Super good food, attentive chefs in service. The location does have furnishings that would very much suit a beer bar. But whatever, the good, rich food and the excellent service make this fact more than irrelevant. Prices: Not cheap, but moderately reasonable.

The restaurant has a simple but nice atmosphere, the staff was very friendly, the prices are fair and the food came very quickly. As a vegetarian you also have a good selection here. Overall I'm happy, although my extra hot curry could have been a little spicier.

The beef pho bo is one of my favorite dishes. For a change this week tried the roast pig and was also very tasty. The food is always fresh and tasty and the service is always very friendly. Thanks and greetings Martin

Great food and friendly staff! We would love to come back

We ate there today because we always liked it. However, to this day I have always picked up the food. Today I had a dish that was very bland. But what topped it all off was that they offer water from Teinacher, but unfortunately it comes from Penny's 1.5 liter bottle. The price of 3.50 is really cheeky. I was simply disappointed today and won't be coming back or ordering take away anymore.

vegan dishes and the staff are super welcoming(they can speak english). the windows have traditional german glass art to look at🖼 i tried dish #52 and they swapped the fish sauce out for soy sauce. it was delicious😄 one mineral water and this dish came out to 18.00€.

Very tasty dishes, friendly service

When we entered the restaurant we were warmly welcomed and were lucky to get a seat even without a reservation. We had a mix starter, which was very tasty and beautifully presented. My chosen traditional Pho soup with chicken is also very tasty. My partner had red cury with crispy duck and rice and it is also highly recommended. What we would also like to emphasize is the extremely friendly service. Only the ambience is a bit plain and simple. Still very cozy and comfortable atmosphere. We recommend the rice field and are already looking forward to our next visit...

The other day, I had dinner with my family of three. Whatever you eat, it's delicious. The staff's customer service is also flawless. They also provided my daughter with a children's plate.

Had a good time and ate very well. Dishes are very tasty and also taste very good. It's almost always full because you have to make a reservation early or don't try it in the evening. There are several days when companies and groups come and the possibility of finding something is very limited. Prices are reasonable, service staff very friendly and nice. Ambience is okay, clean location.

Authentic, plentiful, delicious

A great experience in every way. Even on the phone, the employees were remarkably friendly and relaxed. At first there was no table available (which was no surprise given such a short-term request on our part) - but then we got another call back because other guests had canceled. The first impression was more than confirmed on site. Here they obviously attach great importance to courteous and at the same time relaxed dealings with guests. All feasible special requests were responded to in a relaxed manner. You just feel very welcome. The food tastes fantastic and high quality. The portions are optimal - you'll definitely be full, but you don't rely on unnecessary amounts... which seems valuable and appetizing. We'll definitely be back!

The rice field is an absolute insider tip for Esslingen! A small, cozy restaurant with very authentic food and great value for money. The service is excellent and the waiters are all really great. If you want to eat here, you have to make a reservation, as the shop is always full - but a visit here is definitely worth it.

3.5 stars. We both had crispy duck curry. She was really good, we've had better, but not often. We found the rice rather banal. What really bothered me: I asked if I could get a sour soot. The waitress paused and then said “yes”. Why the trimming? What we got then was probably normal wheat. Which then meant that I didn't go home, my wife did, because I had already had a beer somewhere else. Can't you just say "Unfortunately no" and everything is fine? Service was otherwise attentive.

sehr freundlicher Service, Preise etwas zu teuer, für das was man bekommt. 2 Sommerrollen mit Dip waren sehr lecker. Die vegetarischen Reisnudeln mit Frühlingsrollen - naja. die Frühlingesrollen gut, der Rest war Reisnudeln (plain) mit Salat (plain) ohne Geschmack. Es gab zwar eine Sauce dazu, aber die hat es auch nicht rausgerissen. Meine Frau hatte Nudeln mit Gemüse und Tofu, war ok, aber zu teuer. Vielleicht hatten wir ja das falsche bestellt !!!!

We were there for the first time today because of the great reviews. The boss and the employees are so great and incredibly attentive. Our baby was integrated so well. Be it something to play with or a cucumber to chew and he even got dishes. We have never experienced that anywhere. And then the food came and it was so delicious. You can taste the quality and freshness. We'll definitely be back.

Visiting the rice field for the 5th time now, all I can say repeatedly is: extremely tasty food (no comparison to the "fast food Chinese"), everything was super fresh, extremely seasoned, tender meat, I ordered "extremely spicy" upon request which corresponded exactly to the spiciness from my travels in Asia and was absolutely first-class in terms of price and quantity, and the staff left no wish unfulfilled and fulfilled them very quickly. All thumbs up, we'll be back :-) Addendum from March 27th, 2022: If I had to give my first review for “Rice Field” today, I would probably write exactly the same thing again. I can really only recommend visiting this top restaurant; We are now halfway through the menu and have to say: every dish is really individually prepared and, in my opinion, tastes like it belongs in the “top league” of Asian dishes! Tender meat, great spices and rice/noodles prepared to perfection. In particular, the homemade soups, which are freshly prepared for many hours every day, are highly recommended. If we had any questions about the food, we were given very comprehensive advice; you can tell that the owner family wants to be there for their guests with all their heart! If you're visiting on the weekend, definitely reserve a few days early... Addendum April 24th, 2022: I would just repeat myself here, so I can only say that everything I wrote before is still valid ;-) The taste experience was again unsurpassed! My friends who were guests today were unanimously of the opinion that the dishes, the way they were served and how they tasted, couldn't have been done better, so once again 5 stars from us! Addendum July 18, 2024: nothing else to add, place to be! Visited several times since the last review in 2022, just great!

I was there for the second time at the weekend and just like the first time (about a year ago) it was very, very tasty. The staff was very attentive and, above all, very patient (my 2 year old son was also there, unfortunately he was in a bad mood but the staff remained nice and helpful). I can really recommend the restaurant!

Food is very good, with what it seems to be an authentic taste! The Grilled pork felt so right! I would prefer the sauce that comes with bun cha to have a stronger taste but with the tasty 0Grilled pork, everything is perfect. Staff are very nice and friendly 😊

A must if you want delicious “Asian” food close to the center of Esslingen. The price is a bit high, but you get delicious dishes with fresh vegetables/ingredients. Location basically good. Interior beautiful. You can only sit outside to a limited extent. (12.11.21: 2x lunch curry chicken, pre-order/collection)

Absolute delight! We had Pho Bo, Pho Ga, vege Summerrolls & wan-tan soup. All was above delicious and staff super nice and helpfull. Recommend and we'll be coming for more.

My new favourite restaurant in Esslingen.

Ambience very simple and down to earth with a few details. Service was top notch, you immediately felt comfortable and at home. We kept asking questions and responding to requests. Price performance isn't quite right because the portions are very small. The plates are very nicely prepared and the taste is rather different than in other comparable restaurants, but the dishes didn't blow us away. They were very tasteless and monotonous. We really missed the Asian taste on the palate.
