The setting is pleasant for eating or having a drink. However, the food is mediocre. Lacks flavor. The staff is friendly but nothing special. The service is very average.

Very good meal, thank you very much to the waiters who remained courteous despite the language barrier which made understanding difficult, we will come back with pleasure (and after a few German lessons ;) )

Simply beautiful and delicious food

Unfortunately, the only thing that's great here is the ambiance. The food is frozen, and the prices are too high...that's okay. I'd only go there for drinks, though. But even that's relatively expensive.

The service was very slow. The staff kept breaking glasses, which caused a lot of noise. However, the food was very tasty and plentiful. It was warmer inside than outside, which was unpleasant. Good value for money.

The restaurant was okay. The staff could work more efficiently, and they were also very lacking in friendliness. Therefore, no tips!

We love the restaurant and the food, which is why we often go there for dinner or drinks. However, the service varies depending on the server. My husband and I were here for the second time in a row, for breakfast in the morning and for lunch or drinks in the afternoon. Both this morning and yesterday, we were served by two very friendly servers. In the evening, however, other servers were on duty, who unfortunately seemed less friendly. We received confused looks when we asked questions and when we tried to order from the so-called "runners." We also occasionally received a somewhat cheeky response: "A colleague will be right there." This information isn't a problem in itself, but it would have been much more pleasant without the unfriendly undertone. We also noticed that the system seems somewhat understaffed. With so many guests, there's only one person taking orders and cashing tables. Perhaps this could be increased to two to make things easier for both guests and staff. Nevertheless, we still enjoy coming to the restaurant and will continue to do so.

Delicious food with fast and friendly service

It was delicious! The staff was really friendly and sweet!

Service was very reserved and unattentive. Food was substandard. Sea bass was fried beyond overcooked. Unfortunately, despite the deep and wide cuts, it still had bones in the middle of the fillet. Vegetables were overcooked to a puree. Pasta with Gorgonzola sauce was more like pasta in cream sauce, as you can't taste the Gorgonzola. Pasta was a bit overcooked. The beef strips ordered separately were a disgrace. They were undercooked by hours.

I was unfortunately very disappointed during my visit to the restaurant "Das Original" in Lahr. Right from the start, I was served olive oil in a small bottle at my table. It tasted distinctly rancid and was past its best-before date. When I asked, the waiter explained that they were transferring the oil from larger containers into the smaller bottles – which, from my perspective and experience as the owner of a large Italian restaurant, is incomprehensible. The large antipasti plate for €17 was surprisingly small and disproportionate to the price. Furthermore, the salad didn't seem fresh or crisp, but rather resembled food from a pre-packaged plastic container. The spaghetti was too dry, and the pesto wasn't particularly fresh. For a restaurant that claims to serve authentic Italian cuisine, this unfortunately doesn't live up to expectations at all. Otherwise, a lovely spot by the lake.

Great location, good food, good service, but not always enough staff. Today we visited the restaurant again, and once again I was appalled by the chair cushions on the restaurant terrace. The condition of these cushions should already be of interest to the health authorities.

The pork fillet piccante was very dry and tough. The "mixed" samat only contains green salad and some peppers, even though the menu says it includes cucumbers and tomatoes. It's a shame we've been there twice now, and the meat dishes have always been a disappointment.

We love coming to Haus am See and can't understand the bad reviews at all. The food is always delicious, the service is always friendly and prompt, and the draft beer is delicious... Keep up the good work!

Very nice place, you can spend a nice day

We were here on Monday, July 14th, between 4:45 p.m. and 6:10 p.m. We sat outside. There were maybe three other occupied tables besides us. Two servers. Ordering food was quick, and the food was delivered quickly. Afterward, we sat for 30 minutes with empty plates. We actually wanted to order something else, but unfortunately, we were ignored. The table next to us also went to find a server after a while. We also ended up having to go inside to pay.

I love this restaurant. The ambiance is beautiful, and especially in the summer at sunset, I love drinking a glass of wine and enjoying something delicious to eat right by the lake. The service is very friendly. The live music, which they play regularly, also adds a very nice atmosphere. I recommend everyone to visit this restaurant at least once. 😍😍😍

Cozy and good for relaxation. You can really relax there.

I've never had worse coffee anywhere, and the food is awful. Bad staff, you have to wait a long time for your order, and the staff is very rude – including the manager.

Update July 5, 2025. I had reserved 10 seats. When I politely asked if the table was outside, I received a rude reply: "There are tables for 6 outside, you can put chairs there, but you won't move the tables around, okay?" That was our last visit, and we will warn our friends about this restaurant. I can't remember ever being greeted so rudely. The other nine and I were slightly horrified and spent the evening crammed together at a table for 10. Old review from 2023: Brilliant ordering system via your own smartphone, unfortunately only on request. Too bad, because it's really brilliant! No more waiting for service, order immediately, and get the food and drinks served to your table incredibly quickly. Delicious food at fair prices, customer-oriented service. The ambiance is also great – unless the lake is empty.

No comparison with Köndringen, antipasti plate large, baguette dry, plates are placed on the table without being distributed to the guests, Serrano ham also very, very dry.....a shame really....we won't be coming again.

We ordered three mojitos to go—two adults and two children. Unfortunately, the waitress didn't inform us that the mojitos contained alcohol, even though the person taking the order should have heard that one of them was for a child (the child is 4 years old!). We immediately returned the drinks; one of them wasn't even touched. Despite this, there was no apology or any kind of consideration. The deposit for the glasses wasn't refunded as promised. Very disappointing customer service—we won't be back.

Wonderful, simply wonderful... a beautiful restaurant with a fantastic selection of top-notch wines and delicious food. The ambiance is stunningly beautiful. It's also great for kids; they can splash around in the water and there's plenty to explore. Very friendly staff. Simply a lovely place to unwind and enjoy. We'll definitely be back 😊

Ich hatte bereits eine sachliche Bewertung abgegeben, die leider entfernt wurde. Ich war mit meinem Sohn vor Ort, um eine Kugel Eis zu kaufen. Aufgrund des hohen Andrangs wurde der Eisverkauf jedoch vorübergehend eingestellt, und wir wurden abgewiesen – es gab also kein Eis für meinen Sohn. Ich empfand das als enttäuschend. Solche Erfahrungen sollten für andere Kunden sichtbar bleiben – sonst entsteht ein verzerrter Eindruck. Es wirkt so, als würden kritische Stimmen gezielt unterdrückt.

When we arrived our table was still dirty, and after what seemed like an eternity the waiter finally came to take our order, we had to tell them to clean our table. The pineapple was missing from my meal, and when we asked, we were told "it's not available today." No alternative was offered. The bread that apparently came with the salad had to be brought later, even after we asked. There was no cutlery for the food, and it was only brought after we asked. The food was not well presented, with too much dressing for too little salad. The price-performance ratio was also not right (a normal salad with turkey breast is more expensive than a portion of pasta with salmon or meat). All in all, the service was very poor. The waiter was overwhelmed and had no overview. Several guests complained. I won't be coming back any time soon.

The Haus am See in Lahr is a wonderful place to enjoy and relax! The ambiance is stylish yet cozy, perfect for a feel-good factor. The location directly on the lake is particularly beautiful, creating a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive, making you feel completely welcome. The food is also impressive in every respect: fresh, lovingly prepared, and delicious. An all-round successful visit. We'd love to come back!

I ordered asparagus with pasta, hollandaise sauce, and Serrano ham. The whole thing cost around €20. The food tasted good, but the ratio of pasta to asparagus was 90% to 10%. The asparagus was cut into pieces about 5 mm long. I had to search for ages with a fork until I found one piece, and then another in the other corner. I complained to the waitress. She said she would contact the manager. She didn't see any feedback and told me her decision. I suggested she bring me some asparagus on my plate, because this dish is called asparagus with pasta, not pasta with asparagus. There was no response. The staff were very polite, but they weren't professionals; they were all jobbers. That's why I'm giving it two stars for service. I'm also giving it two stars for the ambiance. The reason: please look at the cushions outside; 80% of the cushions are dirty and stained. They've been left out in the rain. It's disgusting to sit on. This requires urgent action.

You'll always receive a warm welcome and excellent service. The venue is beautifully designed, both inside and out. In addition to the main menu, there are seasonal specials (e.g., asparagus/wild garlic, etc.) that are equally delicious. The former State Garden Show grounds offer the opportunity to take a pleasant stroll afterward. ...

I almost aged because I had to wait forever for my drinks and the bill... The staff is rude and wanders back and forth between the tables, not knowing what to do. The bills for the colleagues at the table were incorrect, the drinks were served incorrectly, and it looked like they were made by kindergarten children. The boss doesn't even know the motto "The customer is king" and even argues with the guests, even though he can clearly see through the glass restaurant that the team isn't working together.

The location is simply brilliant. One of the most beautiful places in Lahr in summer. We've been there several times for an after-work drink. Recently for dinner. I think the service is really terrible. In my opinion this is largely due to understaffing. It took an eternity until drinks were finally taken. Special requests were typed in and successfully ignored. So that the waitress didn't have to make an extra walk, I got the pepper and salt myself, for which I was then scolded a bit because I took it from another table. There wasn't even a thank you for a tip (which I wouldn't have given if I hadn't been a waitress myself). Significant improvement work needs to be done on the service line.

A very good restaurant that also offers a good atmosphere. Food tastes excellent. The reason why the service unfortunately only gets 2/5 stars is because an employee doesn't have a good way of speaking to customers. I came with friends and ordered both non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails for all of us. She then wanted to see our ID, the conditions for which we also met. When we got our order, I noticed that the alcoholic cocktails1 didn't contain any alcohol at all. When I asked the same waitress, I was told: "There's definitely alcohol in it, I made it myself." In my opinion, it is a disgrace not to respond to the needs of customers or to not supply us with alcoholic cocktails despite the price.

Sticky and dirty tables. We had to move around. Many tables weren't cleared, even though there was hardly anything going on. All service staff unfriendly! Slammed cutlery on the table and left in annoyance. Not recommended

I was there for breakfast. I couldn't recommend the value for money. The food was nicely presented, but the cucumber slices were already dried out and the arugula was a bit stale. The yogurt with fresh fruit wasn't great either. The service was very friendly and prompt. The ambiance was also nice.

We drank coffee, had brownies and ice cream. Everything was great. The atmosphere was also great. Every table was full but we sat quietly and without any noise. There is also a sandy area by the lake. Kids can play. 👌🏻

This was our second visit to the "Original" and we were once again very impressed 🤩 a wonderful place with delicious food. We were served today by two very friendly ladies, both very attentive and welcoming. The terrace was completely full, but we still received our food and drinks very quickly. Very suitable for a small appetite

We waited a long time (we were simply forgotten) only to receive a meal that we hadn't ordered. After returning, we received lukewarm food that was seasoned with little enthusiasm. Even the super-friendly, hard-working staff can't make up for this loveless food. It's a shame: such a beautiful place.

Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is no longer what it used to be! A large salmon salad I ordered only had 3-4 mini salmon strips. Barely any garnish, etc. It's really disappointing that you get a salad like this for this price.

Indescribably bad service! We had reserved a table 4 days in advance. The waitress welcomed us and brought us to the table along with the menu. From then on, the service staff and the rest of the staff were missing. In total there were 5 tables that were simply not served and were even downright ignored. After about 45 minutes without service, we decided to leave the restaurant! It's a shame, because the location and the restaurant itself are very nice. The service, however, doesn't even deserve one star!

Food was solid, but nothing that would draw me to the original. I was annoyed that there were vegetables next door and all I got were tomatoes with tomato sauce and 2-3 slices of overcooked zucchini. In my opinion, it didn't go well with schnitzel with fried potatoes at all. Either they ran out of vegetables or were a bit unimaginative. Service was OK, as is often the case in German restaurants, it's hard to get something to drink when you've already had the food. Tip: keep an eye on it, you can earn so much with drinks. Ambiance is really nice. Especially in summer when the weather is nice at the lake. Conclusion - I am convinced the original can do more. A few small adjustments and it can become one of the best restaurants in Lahr and the surrounding area.

Service disaster! 1 star because 0 stars was not possible! We wanted to order drinks on Saturday when the weather was beautiful and we waited forever. We went to the waitress at the other end of the terrace and received a "I'll be right there", then the shift changed and we waited again. I ran to the new waitress and pointed out that we had been waiting for a long time and I received another "I'll be right there", instead all the tables next to us were served first. When it was finally our turn, the cell phone was disconnected and the waitress couldn't record our order -> but we could still order and it would be there. Unfortunately, 20 minutes later no drinks came but the waitress, who wanted to know what we wanted to order. The order has not yet been entered. When asked how long the drinks would take, the answer was "I don't know, I'm not the counter". So after about an hour of waiting we decided to just leave. It was just very annoying! Such poor service is impossible.

Food came late. Despite a complaint, it was cold the second time it was served, and the plate was unappetizingly smeared. Subterranean, not recommended, although the service tried hard.

The ambience and the food were good. Unfortunately, my wife and I had unfriendly experiences with the service. There was a long, fruitless, one-sided eye contact until you could point out the order and invoice. In addition, the menu box that we had requested for the rest of the meal was brought to us stuck together with crooked aluminum foil and tape. The times we waited for a second glass, the menu box or a second plate were also very long (20-30 minutes each). When the respective service person came, she seemed very listless... Unfortunately we are very disappointed with the service staff.

We've been here several times now. But we have never been served as rudely as we did today. The restaurant is mostly empty and we sit at three tables in a pile. But for everyone who isn't sitting right at the front of the drinks counter. She was rarely seen in the room. She also asked us if we wanted to pay while there was still food on our plates. The Greek salad was mostly just green salad. The Crete salad had vegetables, but ice cold with four/five inner stumps. Even the bread from the salads was fridge cold, as if it had been prepared and stored in the fridge for hours. We have reservations for Wednesday. Wondering if we'll go...

Terrible experience, terrible staff working as waiters. You don't know what polite means. They never clear the tables of the last customers. The food is an overall terrible experience. The girls outside have to lose their jobs.

Unfortunately, absolutely rude and inattentive service! The first order was taken quite quickly; while we ordered, the waitress kept looking at her private cell phone. When we had eaten and wanted to order a second round, we were completely ignored, every wave and friendly “attention” was given. It wasn't until we walked up to the counter that attention was paid to us again. When we were paying we pointed this out to her and she got really angry. We were told something similar by friends and we didn't want to believe it. What a shame! We probably won't go there anymore.

Except for the schnitzel, the food is unfortunately not good. Service was only available until food was delivered. No clearing away, no asking for more drinks. Nobody came to pay either. Our wave was ignored. Payment was then made at the cash register at the front, with several interruptions because other guests were being served quickly. No recommendation.

Discovered by chance... basically right on the highway and a great time out... delicious food, great views and a little walk for the dog... are thrilled...

We wanted to have a quick bite to eat on New Year's Eve (lunchtime) and found this wonderfully located house on the lake. The food was delicious, the service was great and the atmosphere was really nice. Would love to come back

Wir haben unser Hochzeitsessen nach der standesamtlichen Trauung mit unserer Familie (31 Personen) "Im Original" in Lahr gemacht und fühlten uns von Anfang an sehr gut aufgehoben. Von der Vorbesprechung hinsichtlich unserer Wünsche bezüglich des Essens und der Tischaufstellung bis zum eigentlichen Event wurden wir bestens betreut. Wir einigten uns auf einen Feldsalat als Vorspeise und eine kleine Haupt- und Nachspeisenkarte, in der für jeden Gast etwas dabei war. Jeder konnte daraus bestellen auf was er Lust hatte. Der Abend verlief reibungslos und wir wurden auch hier sehr freundlich und schnell bedient. Das Essen hat allen gut geschmeckt und es kam alles zusammen. Wir können das Restaurant somit auch für größere Gruppen sehr empfehlen. Danke an das Team für den gelungenen Abend!

The Haus am See in Lahr is my absolute favorite restaurant! The location right on the lake is fantastic, the atmosphere is super relaxed, and the food is always delicious. If the venison ragout tastes like it's burnt and people even complain about it, but nothing happens, then it's pure disappointment... for us it's the last visit...

It's a shame... you come to celebrate the Christmas party in a good mood. And goes again after about 30 minutes and a short excitement. After 1.5 hours we should leave - that's not possible. No information about this in advance! In this case, the victims are the guests and the staff, who suffer the frustration. But luckily we found a quick alternative and thus had a more than successful Christmas party :-).

We had planned a Christmas party at the lake house today and when we arrived they said we could only be there for an hour and a half. That can't be true. We're supposed to feed 25 people in an hour and a half and have a nice, cozy Christmas party. Our solution was: we left. And had a wonderful evening at Dino in Heiligenzell. Thank you for the lovely evening.

The food on site probably isn't that bad, but we didn't get far enough to rate it. Because if you choose the path of digitizing your reservations, then you have to actively live it! A reservation request was made online five days ago - no response! Three days ago you tried to reach someone by phone - impossible and you were referred to the online services. An email request was also unsuccessful. Really a shame!

Great feel-good atmosphere! The service is good and the food is excellent. It's definitely worth a visit, pack up the family and off you go.

Every now and then someone would come and ask if we had ordered one of the drinks he wanted to serve. Which we had to deny. He was obviously only responsible for the issue. Also ok. When we told him three times that we wanted to order, the answer was "I'll let the colleague know". Unfortunately, the colleague never came. It wasn't just us. We happened to be in the park and came across this lakeside restaurant. Since the weather was nice, we sat outside. Our coffee and cake were delicious. The prices are reasonable. The service was good and friendly. There is also a kiosk for take-away drinks.

Location great. Food was okay. Unfortunately this time the service was very bad (0 stars). Long wait to order. A lot of people just got up annoyed and moved on. Afterwards the food was served very sloppily over the heads. Several times the food and drinks were served incorrectly or not at all. In between, our empty glasses and plates were not cleared from the table... we had to ask for them to be cleared in order to have space at the table. Conclusion: Next time I will look for another location for our meetings.
