Dear Hopfengarten chefs... last Sunday 1st June my wife and I had lunch with you!! My wife had cream of asparagus soup with salmon and I had the barramundi fillet with salad (which I have eaten with you for at least the 10th time now), always fantastic!! This time, dear chefs, everything was very disappointing... the cream of asparagus soup was good but the salmon was much too dry....(why??) My fish was exactly the same... bone dry and stringy... the salad was carelessly arranged on the plate... I had to leave half of it!! We were very disappointed and the food wasn't cheap either...!! In future, please offer more quality instead of quantity (we already have enough of that)!!! Kind regards, Klaus Wallprecht.

"Fish only" restaurant near the Rhine ferry. To my surprise, on a sunny Thursday afternoon, the outdoor area was not open; in the well-attended indoor area there were only pensioners present. I had to be a bit persistent to persuade the friendly waitress to let me eat outside in the sun. I chose a grilled barramund fillet served with salad. Other side dishes cost extra, I also ordered rice with a curry sauce. Everything tasted good, especially the fish. The salad dressing was a bit tight and the curry sauce formed a skin very quickly and didn't completely convince me in terms of taste. The whole thing, including a wheat beer, cost €35.60, which would be perceived as a bit overpriced on the other side of the Rhine in my hometown of Palatinate. One reason why the Palatinate is flooded by Baden residents, especially on weekends...

Repost: ended up in the emergency room with fish poisoning!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!! Spoiled Austren, bad service and inflated prices. If you want to spoil your evening for a lot of money, you've come to the right place. There were 4 people there on Saturday evening. As a starter there were oysters with sparkling wine, one of the oysters was spoiled and smelled and tasted strongly of ammonia. The following reactions from the winemaker: it should be fine, but I don't eat seafood, so I have no idea... that says a lot about the location. The fish was really good, to be fair. The price of €40 per dish would have been okay, but the bottle of wine came to the table after everyone had already eaten. There wasn't even an excuse for it. We didn't even order our desserts because none of the waitresses came to take an order. We also went to pay, but after several requests for an invoice, no one came. It's a shame about the evening and very questionable how spoiled food is handled here, especially raw food. By the way, the restaurant was visually appealing and there was enough parking space, but overall I would have preferred to avoid this experience. In our experience, the good rating of the restaurant is not justified.

Delicious fish and other things in the somewhat outdated clubhouse atmosphere. During the winter months I especially love the mussels in tomato or white wine sauce. The lunch menu is very busy and it is definitely advisable to reserve a table. The prices are okay, but not necessarily cheap.

The cuisine, the staff and the ambience are first class, but not old-fashioned, dusty and snobbish. Reviews that say only old people frequent there are absurd. All generations were represented during our visit and that's fitting. If you want to spoil your loved ones, it's best to invite them to this restaurant, we were definitely thrilled. Yes, it is not a cheap restaurant, but it offers a selection of unusual food and drinks that you would otherwise find in other restaurants. We've been there several times in the summer, but forgot to write a review. Btw., it is advisable to make a reservation, ideally one day in advance, otherwise you may not get a seat. We had forgotten that, but lucky that a family just left.

Nice ambience, as a starter we had prawns Provencial which were served in a sauce according to the menu with wild herbs, garlic and peppers. I hadn't imagined that. The main course, grilled monkfish with Mediterranean vegetables, was served with the same sauce as the starter. Looked more like like fish soup with a side dish. Based on the reviews, we expected more.

A separate room was reserved and promised, which was canceled two days in advance (for the owner's private party) and we got a long table in the full guest room. Then around nine o'clock the music in the next room was turned up so loudly that conversation was impossible. An indirect expulsion! After payment, the opened drink bottles were simply removed, even though you still wanted to drink from them. This restaurant is no longer an option for future celebrations!

Die abwechslungsreichen Fischgerichte waren toll angerichtet und wirklich geschmackvoll abgeschmeckt. Auch die knackigen Salate mit hausgemachtem Dressing echt lecker. Zum Abschluss dann noch Sorbet und Eis vom allerfeinsten. Gerne wieder!

Very good restaurant, were there for the 3rd time. Food was super good and the portion size was right. What was annoying about today's visit with 8 people was that even though we arrived on time at 11.30 a.m., we had to wait almost 1.5 hours for the main course and this with only 2 starters ordered! All other tables had already had the main course without our orders coming. And then due to this delay we were no longer able to place a regular dessert order, probably because a table for a second occupancy was needed that day and was reserved!!! That was really annoying, especially since a smaller table was still allowed to do this. There is an urgent need to work on organization and service on main days.

Seit unserem letzten Besuch hat die Qualität der Speisen sehr nachgelassen dafür sind die Preise gestiegen Leider wurde der Abend durch den ekelhaften und penetranten Geruch nach Toilette , der im gesamten Gastraum präsent war, stark beeinträchtigt. Dies hat nicht nur unseren Appetit gemindert, sondern auch den Besuch sehr negativ beeinflusst. Da man wohl versuchte immer mal zu lüften, saß man dann auch noch im Zug und bekam eiskalte Füße. Das Essen war gut, dennoch sehr knackig im Preis!! Der Service war für die Menge an Personen echt gut organisiert, nur man musste eben mehr Geduld haben. Das Ambiente ist für Personen die in Ruhe essen und genießen wollen eher nicht geeignet. Der Lärmpegel bei vollem Haus ist enorm. Man könnte sich eventuell überlegen auf ein paar Tische zu verzichten und an Atmosphäre zu gewinnen.

Zu teuer, für das was es bietet. 30 Euro ein Hsuptgericht, das besser und die Portionen größer sein könnten. Vegetarisches Essen Fehlanzeige. Man könne den Fisch weglassen, dann wäre es aber genauso teuer, also Kartoffelgratin für 30 Euro, das soll ja wohl ein Witz sein. Am besten war der Nachtisch, aber für 10 Euro auch nicht gerade ein Schnäppchen. Bedienungen überlastet, gemischt freundlich, aber sehr lange Wartezeiten. Hatte für das Geld (85 Euro zu zweit, ohne Vorspeise oder Alkohol, davon nur 1 Hauptgericht und 1 Salat) was besseres erwartet. Na ja, schade.

Leckerer Fisch und guter Service Man sollte vorher unbedingt reservieren. Mein Partner und ich teilten uns "Garnelen Provence" und haben uns absolut in das Gericht verliebt.
