Il Salento in Hatten

Until our last visit, we were frequent guests at Il Salento. However, the quality of the food declined with each visit and was truly awful the last time. The Margherita pizza was dry and tasteless, and the spaghetti frutti di mare was equally inedible. The seafood was burnt, the pasta seemed stale, and the tomato sauce didn't taste very good. It used to be much better. After we finished eating and were asked if we had enjoyed our meal, we said no and tried to explain why. This was met with complete incomprehension and angry glares from the (presumably) owner. With the words, "Why? It's pizza," he cleared the table and left us there, seemingly adhering to the motto that you can never go wrong with pizza. At the next table, there was also a misunderstanding with the owner, who became unfriendly to the guests there as well. After we told another server we wanted to pay, the owner preempted him and collected our payment. We didn't leave a tip. The food definitely needs improvement, and the owner apparently can't handle criticism; instead, he becomes very unfriendly. What a shame!

I can't understand the negative reviews about the unfriendliness. I've become a regular there and have always been served politely. Sure, it can get busy sometimes, but they always make sure to serve as quickly as possible. Plus, the pizzas are huge and absolutely delicious – what more could you want? I find the seating area a bit too cramped for eating in, but everything else is fantastic!

It's precisely because of the unfriendly treatment that we stopped going there in a long time. It's a shame, because we always enjoyed the food. But unfortunately, we weren't among the favored guests, if you know what I mean. 😉

Maybe we caught it on the wrong day. We didn't feel welcome, we weren't asked for a drink before the meal was served. The food was unloving, and the payment was correspondingly bland... What's going on? I don't need it.

Note: The one star is only given for technical reasons and should mean 0 stars in this review. Two of us entered the (almost empty) restaurant at 4:15 p.m. Our goal was to have a coffee and take a closer look at the restaurant, as we were looking for a location for a company Christmas party (approx. 20 people). We sat down at one of the numerous free tables. Shortly afterward, the waitress (or the manager?) came and said that everything was reserved and fully booked (Note: There were no "reserved" signs on any of the tables). He asked us how long we would be staying, and I answered "about 30 minutes." He then assigned us another table, and my wife wanted to order a coffee. When the restaurant manager heard this, he said that wasn't possible, everything was reserved and fully booked, and we could only stay if we wanted something to eat. We then (had to) leave the restaurant. After 60 minutes, we went back and found that the entire restaurant was still almost completely empty, with almost all the tables free. Conclusion: In my opinion, it's a disgrace to treat customers like this. They didn't just ask us to leave, they deliberately lied to us, as the restaurant was still almost empty after an hour. Service: A solid 6. Of course, we won't be celebrating our Christmas party with our colleagues there, nor will this place ever see us again. Therefore: Absolutely unfriendly, definitely not recommended. I can only advise anyone reading this review to go somewhere else to eat, but not at this supposed restaurant that doesn't serve guests.

Il SALENTO is simply a very good place to eat. It's not overdone, but you feel truly in good hands. The pizzas are highly recommended; I always recommend making a reservation in advance.

The wooden floor at the entrance needs cleaning. The wooden railing needs painting. The tent-covered porch has been repaired with tape. The chairs have no cushions. The carpet at the entrance needs vacuuming. The dark-brown waitress didn't speak German. The older man was unfriendly. The Amarena cup contained 1.5 scoops of ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream, and three cherries on top. I could have done better at home. Even though I wanted to order another coffee, he insisted I pay for the ice cream first. It was only 3:15 p.m. Disgraceful!!!

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ We enjoyed this place for a long time, but unfortunately, our last visit was disappointing. The service was very unfriendly, especially the older gentleman in the waiting room who seemed unappealing. Perhaps a work area without direct customer contact would be more suitable. It's a real shame, as we otherwise really like the place and the atmosphere.

The traditional pizza with extra garlic was excellent! Calling is definitely recommended for pickup. It was very busy on a Sunday evening. Very friendly service.

One of the best Italian restaurants I've been to. And I've been to many. The recommendation was the prawns with tagliatelle in lobster sauce, a dream. Excellent service, only flaw: it's definitely too far from where I live. Absolutely, if you're in the area, you should definitely stop by.

We've already given the restaurant a second chance after the first visit was disappointing – unfortunately, our impression was more than confirmed. The owner comes across as extremely arrogant and unfriendly, which unfortunately carries over into the overall atmosphere. As a guest, you don't feel welcome, but rather tolerated. The service is also very slow, which, combined with the unfriendly attitude, is simply unpleasant. Added to that are very small portions, which bear no relation to the price – the value for money is simply not justified. It's a shame, because the location is actually beautiful – but we definitely won't be coming back.

The service and ice cream are terrible! The wait is long, and the boss is simply arrogant and unfriendly! Not worth it! I wonder how someone like that can be self-employed.

Very nice atmosphere, delicious margarita pizza to go, and a good location. It took a long time to pay, even though the pizza had been ready five minutes ago and I was standing at the cash register. Why? The man kept putting ice cream cones in the basket, even though I said I just wanted to pay. A bit of a negative.

We were there on a Friday evening around 5:30 p.m. The restaurant slowly filled up around 6 p.m. We were finally allowed to order around 6:30 p.m. after other guests who came after us had already ordered and we mentioned twice that we would also like to order. The boss is annoyed and completely overwhelmed. We were regularly forgotten in the winter garden. To order drinks we had to do it ourselves. Nobody came to us and asked if we would like something more to drink. When asked which beer was available, the boss replied annoyed and had little idea about his selection of beer. The food, we were there with 4 people, came around 7.30 p.m.!! 2 x pizza, 2 x pasta. The boss was really annoyed again when there was a little misunderstanding about the food we ordered. There was no sign of the friendliness described in other reviews. 3 out of 4 meals had to be seasoned because they were completely tasteless. It definitely won't be my favorite Italian!

We dined here for a birthday and had a wonderful evening. The boss is very accommodating, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. A vegetarian menu was made especially for me, which I really enjoyed. We'll definitely be back!

The restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere in which to linger. The pizzas are crispy and topped with fresh ingredients. Every visit is a culinary delight. We are already looking forward to the next time. The quality of the food is always excellent.

It looks inconspicuous from the outside, but is definitely worth a visit. It's worth making a reservation. We were there on Sunday evening and were lucky that just as we walked in a guest called and canceled his reservation. The boss is very friendly and the daily recommendations are definitely worth trying. There were four of us and we had three different dishes, none of which disappointed us. Also a suitable wine recommendation. So in Sandkrug it's certainly a very good choice if you want to eat out.

This little Italian is very special and my wife and I love it! We usually travel to Italy on vacation. The "Il Salento" manages to bring the authentic and real Italy feeling here. The food is excellent and the service is incredibly charming, warm and attentive. We also had dinner at Il Salento for our wedding and the hosts outdid themselves with the menu. We are enthusiastic regular customers and can only warmly recommend this restaurant to every Italy lover and connoisseur!

We've been there several times and have tried many pizzerias in the area - this one is by far the best! Of course they have a service staff problem, but if the boss could change it, he would. The pizza is unbeatable! You can taste that it is pizza flour and other decent ingredients too. I like to wait a little longer - when I go out to eat, I have time!

Food is top. Service staff really nice. The toilets just smell terrible. Visually clean but the smell is bad.

The pizzeria is located in the heart of Sandkrug on the main street. It is easy to reach and there are parking spaces in the immediate vicinity. We had ordered pizza to pick up. It was ready for collection on time. The atmosphere is appealing, we will also come here to eat. The employees are very friendly and accommodating. I like to give it 5 🌟 and of course 👍 Recommended

Yesterday I was there with my 3 children. The staff very unfriendly. When we were finally allowed to order even though there wasn't much going on, we received dirty glasses and bottles. We were there for over 60 minutes and still didn't receive any food. 2x Pizza Magarita and one with ham. I asked several times to leave because everything was becoming more and more pleasant. Nobody paid us any attention after we spoke to 4 waiters, none of whom understood us, so we got up and left. Not recommended this store at all!!!

There were four of us and I wanted to order an appetizer and was told he had to see how to do it. We just have to wait 40 minutes. There were hardly any tables occupied. We didn't feel we were treated well. The food is excellent, but the service, in this case both, is really very bad. Especially because my food was forgotten and afterwards they said it was because of my starter while everyone else had already had their food. Here a "sorry, it's lost" would have been more honest. The lady never seems to smile and is quite unfriendly. There was no bread with the pasta or the tomato soup today. The chef should better go back into service, because he is always very friendly and accommodating.

We were there today to eat ice cream. Called beforehand to see if there was ice cream again. First we sat for over 20 minutes before the card was brought to us, then another 15 minutes passed until the gentleman came back. When we asked about the ice cream menu, we said it didn't exist. (We asked specifically by phone). We were still able to order a drink and 2 spaghetti ice cream with strawberries. Another 20 minutes later the ice cream arrived. The drink took another 5 minutes. The ice cream was very tasty. Unfortunately, some of the strawberries were still green and some were already very mushy. We couldn't eat them anymore. Paying at the counter at the end also took a long time. Everyone just walked by. Very unfortunate. We won't be coming back... Addendum: We gave it another chance and were here again. That was also a very good decision. Sure, the waiting time is still quite long, but it was also very busy. So everything is within the framework. We received a very friendly welcome and ordered a pizza. We planned to share them. Actually, 2 half pizzas arrived on separate plates. We haven't had that anywhere before. Super attentive. Absolutely top! The food was very tasty. It didn't take long for the food to arrive after ordering. Service was very friendly. Conclusion: Everyone has a bad day sometimes. We got the bad one on the first visit. It can happen sometimes. But we will definitely come back again.

I went out for lunch with a friend this afternoon. As a starter I had the Bruschetta Mista and my friend had the Carpaccio, and we were also served a basket of fresh pizza bread. Both were delicious. The main course was the Bufalo pizza, which was extremely tasty and filling. The waiter's treatment was also very commendable when I asked him that there was something in my starter that DEFINITELY didn't belong there. As “compensation” he brought me a second drink and I also didn’t have to pay for my starter, even though I had eaten two of the three bruschettas. To top it all off, he offered us a scoop of ice cream on the house. Even though I don't particularly value such formalities and a simple apology is enough (of course he did), we were more than positively surprised by the waiter's goodwill.

Wir haben zwei Eissorten bestellt wie wir sie haben wollten Spatti Eis und Raffelo Becher, haben zwei andere Spaghetti amarena bekommen die auch noch teurer waren als die bestellten zudem war in meinem Eis (Roche Becher) ein Fruchteis mit drin gegen das ich allergisch. Beim ansprechen verwies mich der Chef zunächst an den Kellner der sich rausgeredet hat es würde ja nur Milcheis auf der Karte stehen. Als die Rechnung dann gekommen ist der Schock es wurden sogar die teureren Eissorten in Rechnung gestellt und angeböbelt wurde ich auch noch das ich mich ja beschwere. Nie wieder

Such very bad service is only available here. We wanted to eat ice cream for 4 of us. But after more than 40 minutes of waiting, the waitress came and took the order. Another 40 minutes passed, I went to the staff and asked, got some stupid answers, so we got up and went out. We cannot recommend it. No star

Am 9.12.23 wollten wir vor unserer langen Heimreise noch eine gute Stärkung und sind auf das Il Salento gestoßen. Die Öffnungszeiten waren perfekt. Eher selten bekommt man um 14.30 Uhr noch die Möglichkeit für ein gutes Mittagessen. Sowohl die zwei Pizzen als auch die Canneloni und die Pizzabrötchen waren geschmacklich super! Der Service war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Mille grazie! Sobald wir wieder in der näheren Umgebung sind, werden wir sicher wieder dort zum Essen einkehren!

Etwas beengt, nette Bedienung, das Essen war aber eher mau. Die Pizzen sahen toll aus, aber die Fleischgerichte waren zäh und knorpelig und deshalb nicht zu empfehlen.

Schöner kleiner Italiener mit heimeligen Flair. Tolle Nudelgerichte, solide Pizza. Die „Gambas satt“ sind ein tollen Abend wert.

Köstliches Essen, tolle Wein und Grappa Auswahl, perfektes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und ein sehr netter Betrieb. Vor lauter Begeisterung haben wir vergessen, Fotos zu machen 😉 Sehr zu empfehlen!

Schöner laden top essen und personl

Nach einem Spaziergang in Sandkrug gehen wir hier öfter auf ein Eis oder eine Pizza hin. Man sitzt nett draußen und windgeschützt. Das Eis ist lecker, die Pizza ganz ordentlich. Für einen Italiener könnte der Cappuccino besser sein.

Ich kenne die Lokalität schon lange und war überrascht, wie unbeständig die Küche dort ist. Mal hat man halbwegs Glück, das letzte Mal war die Pizza noch weiß (klar zu kurz im Ofen), der Salat mit Hähnchen hatte noch rosa Fleisch (ebenfalls zu kurz erhitzt) dabei. Dass zwei ältere Damen mit kleinen Sonderwünschen eher grummelig bedient wurden und es einige Bemühungen brauchte, um überhaupt zahlen können, rundete den Besuch unschön ab. Klar ausnehmen möchte ich den jüngeren, netten Herren, der bediente, aber einfach an zu vielen Stellen zugleich sein musste.

Für mich immer wieder gerne die Pizza Apulia, für meinen Mann die Pizza Caprese. Hin und wieder variiert der Geschmack, aber immer lecker.

Auch hier: Unterm Strich eine tolle Pizzeria. Die durchaus schlechten Kritiken wegen des Services kann ich zuminderst nicht verstehen. War bei uns absolut vorbildlich. Ggf kommt der eine oder andere mit dem Humor nicht zurecht? Wiegesagt wir hatten hier nix zu meckern. Es gab Pizza und Pasta. Beides absolut OK. Einziger Knackpunkt: 3€ Aufpreis für Mozarella? Was ist den sonst drauf? Analogkäse? Das fand ich jetzt doch etwas seltsam. Ansonsten echt absolut guter Italiener. Komm ich gern wieder!

Wir (2 Erwachsene und 2 Kinder ) waren auf der Durchreise und das erste mal im il Salento essen. Vom Service bis zum Essen war alles hervorragend. Sehr freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung. Das Essen war sehr gut und schnell am Tisch.
