It's been a long time since I've had such friendly and nice service and the food is simply very good for gourmets.

Keep it up, for a fair amount, quality and passion are put on your plate and you leave satisfied and happy!

We have eaten here many times and have always been satisfied, but on our last visit we were bitterly disappointed. I can turn a blind eye to many things (e.g. cold or wrong food) but what doesn't work at all and that's where the fun ends for me is serving moldy food (mold was very clearly visible). It was also sad that the waiter didn't notice this when serving (it couldn't have been due to stress as there wasn't much going on). They then wanted to bring me a new tiramisu (with the words... This one is now fresh). Sorry but mentioning that this one is new now goes 0. Just confirms that the previous one was very old. The two waiters apologized but that was it. Would have recommended at least waiving the drinks.

Very good food, nice people, almost like in Bella Italia. The only thing missing is card payment. Here only cash is real.

I only want to give this 3 stars and I'm just basing my opinion on the food. Unfortunately I was only there twice and ate pizza, but that was enough. The pizzas were much too thick in terms of dough and, sorry, the topping was also much too high or thick. This partly consisted of coarsely chopped onions and various other ingredients, which were layered on top of each other and presented as a pizza with a high topping. No, pizza is different. Thanks.

Our pizzas were very good. The reception and service were very friendly. 1 star deducted because we didn't receive any pizza rolls in advance. Unfortunately only cash payment possible.

A delicious pizzeria with plenty of seating and really tasty dishes. Unfortunately, no card payment is possible. Since the last ATM in town was blown up, the visit has to be planned a little.

I have been a customer there for >10 years. Unfortunately, in the last 2-3 years, the friendliness of individual (often changing) waiters has decreased significantly! Last experienced yesterday as follows: The restaurant was <50% attended. Wednesdays, 5:45 p.m. After trying to order new drinks FIVE TIMES and apparently being ignored by the waiter, I then ordered from the “boss” himself at the counter. 1 of 2 dishes were prepared/served incorrectly at the neighboring table on the left and 2 out of 2 dishes at the neighboring table on the right. Always with eye rolling and complaining from the waiter! This is the third time this has happened to us in four visits. A pity! If we used to eat there 1-2 times a month, that has now been reduced to 1-2 times a year! As usual, the food tasted good. Small downer: As in many restaurants, the prices. While there was previously typically Italian San Pellegrino as water, there is now the "simpler" Rhodius... at the same price as the San Pellegrino before 🧐 Sorry, but that's how you scare away regular customers 🤷🏻‍♂️

A great Italian restaurant! The ambience is large and authentically furnished, the boss greets you in Italian and also speaks Italian in between, which creates a little holiday feeling in this restaurant. The food is really very good. The service is quick and courteous.

Driven back and forth 4 times for a wrong salad. Mistakes can happen, but then blame the customer, no apology and a new salad without dressing. Customer orientation looks different.👎🏻

A new experience. Parking lot was already full at 6:10 p.m. Unfortunately there are no marked parking spaces. A black Porsche Cayenne once took up almost two parking spaces. With properly marked parking spaces there would have been room for at least four more cars. We had made a reservation, the staff was somehow clueless, after we were shown through the restaurant, we were able to get to the table after discussion with the staff. The other table service was good. The restaurant is very noisy, which means a high noise level. Having a conversation at the table was therefore limited to the bare minimum. Food was OK, but probably would have tasted better at home. The seats at the table are very tight and elbow collisions are inevitable. To pay, you can then go to the front of the counter. I only know this from chip shops. There was one too many dishes on the bill (can you try?) Conclusion: a mediocre village pizzaria, lack of competition keeps the ball rolling. The toilets were clean and the facility was also well furnished. I won't be going there again; if I had been alone, I would have ended my visit because of the chaos the staff was having while searching for the reserved seats. Comfortable is different, I prefer to leave the location to the village youth.

Il Gelato seems to be the "ice cream branch" of the well-known and popular Italian restaurant Il Genio... a little hidden in the back yard... but with a good selection of different types of ice cream and the usual sundaes... the quality is good ...the ice cream is relatively creamy...the service is in a good mood...very friendly...it's fine...so it's definitely a good place for a solid ice cream...even if I'm a little special. ..or I missed that certain little kick...but maybe it was also due to the rather average temperatures on the day of the tasting...

Best pizzeria I know. I can only recommend it. The ice cream also tastes good but I have to say it's not as tasty as in Kohlscheid or Tüddern. It's also a matter of taste! Otherwise everything is great!

A waiter was a little overzealous and took my pizza rolls as I walked past, even though I hadn't finished eating yet. Complained immediately and it was sorted out. All in all we were very satisfied, with the quality of the food, with the service, with the ambience, friendliness.. Great, would love to come back 🫶

We had a delicious meal there, 3 courses. A cozy restaurant by German standards. They have a very good kitchen at a reasonable price. Not comparable to Italian restaurants in the Netherlands, which are often disproportionately priced for the same or less. Friendly service, very helpful and fast. There is a separate parking space for guests opposite the restaurant. A lot of food is also collected here. Advice: book in advance during the weekend. One thing is a pity, you can only pay in cash.

I have rarely been shown such honest and sincere friendliness during a pickup as at II Genio in Gillrath. You can feel how much everyone does their job with love and puts you in a great mood even in “stressful” situations! After a long day at work, you can look forward to picking up a hearty pizza - with an extra portion of good mood - when you go home. We have often ordered for pickup here and also pre-ordered pizza trays for a smaller celebration at home, everything went smoothly and the food was always excellent. I can only recommend ! Italian cuisine in Germany, high quality ingredients, welcoming place, especially the very kind and hospitable owners.

I ordered pasta with seafood, they put marinated pasta in a jar)))) I understand that I am not on the coast - so I can ask for fresh ones, at least frozen - without vinegar, ... as in all other restaurants !!!!!!. ....hospitality is present....limoncello is offered after the meal like real Italians!!!!

A few years ago it was possible to order pizzas smaller than 30 cm. Unfortunately, this is no longer possible. I ate half of the pizza and observed that some women didn't eat the whole pizza either. Some had them packed up. Others left them there, resulting in half a pizza being thrown away. This is of course a shame and unnecessary.

It is a nice place with fresh food, in Italian style. The staff is friendly and is never too busy.

Ich liebe diesen Laden. Ein super Service, wie man ihn noch selten findet, charmant und aufmerksam. Tolles Essen, super Preis Leistung!!!

Wir waren mit 8 Personen essen, darunter 4 Kinder. Leider ging bei der Bestellung alles ein wenig drunter und drüber, am Ende hatten aber alle das richtige Essen. Leider war dies nicht so lecker, die Nudeln waren fad, langweilig und die Portionen sehr klein, was nicht verständlich ist, da der Wareneeinsatz bei Nudeln dich vergleichsweise klein ist. Die Pizzen haben eine ordentlich Größe und schmecken auch gut, es könnte etwas weniger Käse drauf sein. Der Kellner war stets bemüht und immer freundlich. Das Bezahlen hat leider sehr lange gedauert, da die Bestellung erst nicht auffindbar war, dann nicht stimmte...

Hervorragende Pizza 🍕 und leckere Pasta

Dort arbeiten super liebe Menschen, mit denen man auch gut lachen kann. Der Service ist top. Am besten immer einen Tisch reservieren, denn es ist meistens voll. Das Essen ist sehr lecker. Auf Wünsche wird eingegangen und sollte doch einmal Schieflaufen wird es sofort geändert. Einziges Manko: AUSSCHLIESSLICH BARZAHLUNG!

We hebben er heerlijk gegeten, 3 gangen. Voor Duitse begrippen een gezellig restaurant. Ze hebben een hele goede keuken tegen een schappelijke prijs. Niet te vergelijken met Italiaanse restaurants in Nederland, die zijn vaak buiten proportioneel hoog geprijsd voor hetzelfde of minder. Vriendelijke bediening, erg behulpzaam en snel. Er is een aparte parkeerplaats voor gasten tegenover het restaurant. Ook wordt hier veel afgehaald. Advies, in het weekend vooraf reserveren. Een ding is jammer, je kan alleen maar contant betalen. We kregen een Limoncello Van de zaak, dat maakte veel goed. We komen heel snel weer terug.

Super, sehr sauber. Freundliche Atmosphäre. Ich habe Dorade gegessen, war sehr lecker. Service war auch sehr gut.

Il Genio hat leider über die Jahre einen hohen Ausbau an Sitzplätzen und gleichzeitigen Rückgang der Qualität erlebt. Il Genio war vor zehn Jahren eine Legende - jetzt hat das Team leider bemerkt, dass mit geringerer Anstrengung - mehr erreicht werden kann. Die "Pasta" ist mit gutem Willen noch als "aus der Tüte" zu bezeichnen - die Pizza würde in Italien keinen Absatz finden. Der einzige Grund für den Erfolg ist leider die Alternativlosigkeit der Region. Für jeden der zumindest eine leichte Ahnung vom Kochen hat, empfehle ich die Gerichte selber zuzubereiten.
