A highly recommended restaurant in Berlin. The service was excellent, the food simply fantastic, and the ambiance was very special. A wonderful visit.

I have to say first that the place is overpriced! Ambiance is OK but they are not deserve such prices.

An original concept, somewhere between a classic brunch and Japanese influences. We ate very well, with some great vegetarian options. The terrace is pleasant, the service friendly, and the prices reasonable. A great place to remember!

Rarely do I visit a restaurant and walk away with not just a happy belly, but also a radiant heart. The experience (and this is a huge one here) I received here today, from the warm welcome, the professional service, the comfortable ambiance, great music played at an optimum level and the food.. wow. I had the kakuni don. The pork belly was velvety soft, juice and the fat melting like butter on my tongue. The umami flavour of the soy sauce lingered long after like a kiss. Make sure to ask for their home made Japanese chilli oil. It’s savoury, with bits of crunchy burnt garlic and a gentle kick of spice. The aroma alone made me smile. The house of small wonder more than lives up to its name. It’s cozy, it’s warm, it’s delicious and leaves you feeling like you were a guest at an old friends home. Don’t miss it.

One of Berlin’s hidden gems. The restaurant has an absolutely stunning backyard. It’s possible to find a cozy table on Sundays, but it’s better to book in advance. The hospitality is fast and very friendly. The food is interesting and, I would say, unique — somewhere between Japanese and American cuisine. Even if you order just desserts, they are nice and delicious. The main dishes are good too. I’ve already visited this place twice. I will definitely bring my friends here to show it to them.

Very cute ambiance in the courtyard. The ricotta pancakes were super delicious, albeit the portion size was questionable. The matcha latte, unfortunately, tasted like warm milk with a touch of matcha powder, which I found particularly disappointing, as a large part of the menu is Japanese or Japanese-inspired. The menu even specifically mentions the matcha as a special recommendation, so you expect something really good. Overall, nice, but the price-performance ratio is unfortunately not satisfactory. A 3.5 would probably best reflect my rating—but since that's not possible, I'd give it 3 rather than 4 stars.

Outside in the courtyard, the ivy-covered brick walls and flower arrangements create a lovely atmosphere. The staff is friendly and speaks more English than German. It was very busy on a Saturday at noon, but we still managed to get a table for three without booking. Unfortunately, the place is very noisy and thinly soundproof. The vegan sorobo food was soggy and not fresh. The lemon ginger tea was uninspiring and very simple.

It's easy to miss, as the entrance is inconspicuous, like an office or school. I had the Croque Madam for breakfast—it was very good. You can also order something sweet. And be careful of the wasps, as there are quite a few of them.

This restaurant is simply amazing! For my boyfriend and me, it has been one of the best places we’ve tried during our trip. The food is outstanding every dish we have tried was simply amazing, the staff are kind and funny, and the location is truly charming and unique. We will miss this place so much. P.s please, open a restaurant in Italy!

We were visiting from London and went there for dinner after a recommendation from someone who loves it. We had the tasting menu and the food was very good, although not exceptional. The prices were fair. My biggest issue however was the standard of service we received. My wife is German and, being back in Germany, looked forward to the opportunity to speak her native language. Unfortunately our server didn’t seem to speak a word of German at all. Not really a big deal, especially for us, but it does seem like a pretty basic requirement for a customer-facing role in Germany. There was no sense of apology, explanation or conversation from the server, it was just… “English please”. Again, not really a big deal but didn’t give us the best feeling. The worst thing was my wife explained that she has an intense dislike of raw onions/scallions/chives etc. This message was communicated by the server ONLY for the one dish where fresh scallions was mentioned on the menu. For all the other dishes, the food was served with fresh chopped scallions sprinkled over. Just a really basic adjustment that would have made the meal a much more pleasant experience for my wife and a lack of thought applied by the server and/or kitchen. A good restaurant experience let down by deeply average customer service.

Very nice ambiance and unusual small dishes. We went there for brunch in February. The taste wasn't quite as good as the look, but overall it was a nice visit, and I would go back, just to try the other dishes.

Dinner here was fine; nothing to write home about. Wine choices left more to be desired.

One of the best breakfast places in Berlin! Amazing setting, food and service!

Really cute spot, we tried different cocktails and breakfast options and absolutely loved them all. Sizes were decent and cocktails were very well balanced. The courtyard is also very cute, great for brunch.

It was really packed for a Saturday, but we still got a table. The food was amazing not a huge vegetarian option, but you can ask to remove the meat from the dish. I really love the place. The atmosphere was calm. I will recommend.

Delicious breakfast, but the price-performance ratio was mixed. The warm ricotta cakes were very tasty, but the portion was quite small for the high price, and I personally missed more fruit on the side, for example. The ambiance feels like a tourist/Insta spot, but that's a matter of taste. I find the markup for vegan milk drinks a little out of place. What a shame!

The ambiance is super nice, friendly, and inviting. The service is very professional, superbly organized, true professionals. However, I expected a bit more from the food—more flavor, more of a "homemade" feel. The avocado cream, for example, unfortunately didn't taste like avocado at all; it was more industrial. We were there for breakfast; the dinner menu will get another try.

Nice place, located in the backyard, which creates its own special atmosphere. Very good service. The dishes are unusual, but I didn't like everything. The gratin was dry, the potatoes were cut into large wedges. In the wok, the taste seemed unbalanced, it seemed like the sauce consisted only of soy sauce. But it is worth noting that the noodles themselves were very tasty.

A beautiful place to have an amazing breakfast with friends/family. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The food came out relatively quick, and was delicious! My only complaint (that was not the restaurant’s fault) was that we were getting surrounded by wasps. However, our waitress brought a smokey cup which drove them all away! Incredibly happy with our visit, will be returning!

After reading raving reviews for a couple of years, I decided to try it myself with my niece for a late lunch break. While the food was okay, it wasn't anything special. The portions were small-medium sized and absolutely overpriced. Yes, it's Mitte. Still, I wouldn't go again. Staff was okay, friendly but not very attentive. The seating space outside is charming

Beautiful location. The eggs Benedict, French toast, and coffee were very good. The staff were also very friendly. One star deducted because it was a bit overpriced, in my opinion. But you can definitely go there.

I encountered absolutely terrible service here. I waited at the entrance for more than 10 minutes and no one approached me. At the same time, the waiters seated people who came after me at two tables. This is the worst service possible and my mood is spoiled by it. I will not recommend this place and will remove it from my preferences on Google Maps.

The terrace is lovely and the staff were very friendly, even letting us in with our two small dogs and bringing them water. Sadly, the food was excessively greasy and we left most of it after just a few bites. For the high prices, we expected much better quality.

We stumbled upon this gem for brunch and it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious — every bite felt fresh and full of flavour. The real magic though is in the backyard: a gorgeous, relaxed spot that makes you want to stay for hours. One small heads-up: if you’re allergic to bees, you might want to keep an EpiPen handy… they seem to love this place as much as we did! 🐝 Otherwise, it’s the perfect brunch escape.

The staff constantly came to the table to tell us of how much time we had left at the table even though we didn't stay long and even before they said hello they already mentioned the time limit. Later, when we asked for a veggie croque madam, the waiter revealed that the meals are all prepared in the morning, thus not even fresh. Felt like a total scam. Coffee was good though

We have been visiting this place on every trip to Berlin over the past 5-6 years, and it's certainly a very nice setting. There are some authentic Japanese items on the menu, and while it's too expensive for what it is, the quality of the food is not bad. The one thing that has been consistently bad over the years is the service. I don't know why they insist on hiring only young and inexperienced girls, but it's like everyone is uninterested in customer service. You can tell they don't really want to be there, and treat the guests like a mere nuisance.

Unfortunately one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at. It's not clear what the style is, but it seems the chef just likes to pour copious amounts of melted cheese on anything that moves. One dish was completely inedible and the others were below average.

The ambiance in the courtyard is very nice, the waiters very friendly and attentive – although they speak almost exclusively English. The food was okay, but rather disappointing. The matcha was watery, and the watermelon salad and granola were overpriced for what you get. The potato gratin was lukewarm and more like mashed potatoes than a topping. The onigiri were tasty, but dry. For this price, you can get much better food in many places.

A lovely place in the heart of Berlin, with a welcoming internal courtyard where you can dine in peace. The menu is varied, including Asian options; I tried a rice bowl with chicken and red ginger, which was well-cooked and tasty. Service was quick, though I had to call the waitress to order. Overall, a positive experience and a pleasant atmosphere.

A nice social media spot, and the food reflects that. It was okay, but not worth the price. We had to wait longer for the drinks than for the food. Most of the customers were tourists.

We had a super delicious breakfast here. Good value for money. No waiting times. We personally preferred the "old" decor/furnishings of the Pauly Hall. But that's a matter of taste ;) Keep up the good work. Oh yes, the spoken language is English ;) But that seems to be the case in Berlin these days ;)

The only person truly amazed at the House of Small Wonder is the guest. We won't be returning here again. While it has a lovely courtyard, it's unfortunately besieged by wasps, despite the coffee smoke. Service is overwhelmed: long waits, incorrect food served despite a correct vegan order. Portions are too small even for women, despite the higher prices. Using the restroom requires a four-digit code, which has to be entered almost while kneeling because it's mounted so low. The crowning glory: no cash payments and only one total bill for the entire table of seven people.

Japanese Brunch, perfect for a Sunday morning. Onigiri and Miso soup absolutely recommended. The location it's suggestive, there is a patio outside and tables inside, booking is required. The place was full but they served us really quick. The staff was really nice :) The price are fair, at the end we spent around 20 € each.

We arrived a bit early for breakfast. They were ready to welcome us promptly at 9:00. It might have been a bit chilly to have breakfast outside, but it had a certain charm. The Eggs Benedict and Avocado Smash were excellent. We'd definitely come back. Thanks!

The right meal for a sunny noon. We set at the terrace with a great ambiance. The food was delicious.

The staff were not sufficiently polite, and we were asked to leave because the table was needed for an upcoming reservation.

Creative fusion kitchen but a bit expensive

We stumbled upon this jewel after the Contemporary Art museum (KW) and it was wonderful. I had the avocado-corn salad which was amazing; watermelon feta salad also excellent. All of it looked good.

Beautiful garden set up. For set meals, there was a lot of food ! Coming from California , I have high standards for fresh raw fish. Thus I took one star off, as I found the mackerel not super fresh. All things considered great value & food

Disappointing – nice location, but that's about it. Very nice ambiance, but the food was disappointing. My soup was barely edible, the main course was mediocre at best, and the tea was tasteless. Only the cocktails were really good. Service was mixed – everything from friendly to downright rude. I also noticed this with other guests: Many didn't finish their plates. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it for the price.

Beautiful place with an outdoor patio and amazing food with vegan options too (overpriced tho), but it did take us ages to get served. Yet overall the staff was nice and it’s a nice place for late breakfast

I ordered Eggs Benedict You can choose between the soup of the day and other things as a side And you can choose between vegan or bacon pieces (Speck) for the bread. Maybe because it was summer, the tomato soup that came out as the soup of the day was cold but delicious But the biscuit Benedict bread... was so tasteless... It was overcooked so it was filling but... not so much...ㅠ The utensils were also a bit dirty.. The orange juice that cost 5 euros was the most delicious.. When paying, there was a tip option so the staff were friendly but it was tasteless so I chose the lowest option of no tip..ㅠ By the way, since it's an outdoor seat, there are a lot of bees so if you're afraid of bees, don't come here.

On a nice day, the outdoor seating is a must — it’s spacious, comfortable, and partially shaded with an overhead canopy if the sun gets too intense. The menu offers a thoughtful variety of sweet and savory dishes, many with Asian-inspired flavors and ingredients. We tried the avocado toast, which was elevated with hints of sesame oil and a sprinkle of seaweed — a creative twist that added great texture and familiar, comforting flavors. The Cobb salad was equally impressive, packed with fresh, vibrant ingredients. The staff were lovely and attentive, adding to the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. A wonderful spot for a leisurely brunch or a peaceful meal in the city.

I tried matcha latte and the pancakes. Pancakes were so fluffy soft and melting in mouth. And the presentation was also on point. The cafe is so beautiful and very scenic.

We ate here today with a small group, and we really enjoyed the sharing-style dishes. They're creative and all tasted really good. The service was friendly, but despite the relatively empty restaurant, it was very slow, which unfortunately dampened the overall impression somewhat. We would give the restaurant another chance and come back.

The seating is very pleasant and the welcome is very warm. However, the prices are sometimes quite high for what you get. I don't really recommend the zucchini bread. The French toast croissants are basically like regular croissants. You can do it, but we were hoping for something a little better.

A very cool backyard restaurant. The wooden overhang and green walls almost make you feel like you're at a private garden party. It's very cozy and a great way to end the evening.

The food is amazing and the small garden offers an idyllic break from the busy city center. I would definitely recommend making a reservation beforehand, the time slots for the tables are quite tightly set. The entire staff is English speaking :)

Delicious food and great service

There is not much to say. Just wonderful. In everything. We went for breakfast, our taste buds exploded and our bellies were very happy. Even our eyes, for the beauty of the dishes and the place, and even our moods, for the courtesy of the staff.

Super. Eggs benedict were amazing

The place is pretty cozy, the staff were super nice throughout our lunch. Though there were a lot of people it didn’t ruin the vibe or become stressful. I’d recommend the lemonade in particular for drinks, it was fresh, sweet and sour at the same time, perfect for cooling off. We ordered Caesar’s salad, which was fresh with chese and chicken. Overall we’d definitely return for the proffessional laid back staff and delicious food.

Delicious, beautiful, and calm atmosphere. Great place to sit down and relax and eat delicious food. And for those dark chocolate lovers, the dark chocolate mousse is a must.

We visited a couple of times for breakfast when we were in Berlin. We loved the food and they have the "lunch" menu available from 10:00 am also. Some really nice Japanese inspired food on the lunch menu. We loved it!

We went here for both dinner and weekend brunch during our month long stay in Berlin. The food is excellent and the menu quite diverse. The service was top notch and the atmosphere in the restaurant is outstanding. We ate dinner in the main dining room but had brunch out in the courtyard. Both charming but somehow outdoors on a nice Berlin weekend day…so nice !

Absolutely the best breakfast that we had while visiting Berlin recently with a beautiful and quiet outdoor courtyard to enjoy! The Japanese infused eggs Benedict and waffles were amazing!

The food was really good, I had the Vegan Soboro and it tasted very well, loved how the veggies were cooked. The soy meat was also very tasty. The other dish I tried was the corn avocado salad, also tasted good but way to pricey, for lettuce, corn and avocado, in my opinio. The ambience was cozy. One thing that really bugged me was the matcha latte though. I though that because they served lots of Japanese dishes that they would also serve that quality in the drinks. But the matcha was very bad, it only tasted like milk and the colour was offensive.

House of Small Wonder is the kind of place that quietly blows you away. The Japanese-style fusion brunch was both comforting and creative—flavors that feel familiar but still surprise you. Everything we ordered was satisfying and filling without being heavy, and the service was warm and attentive without overdoing it. We sat outside in a lovely shaded spot that made the whole experience feel even more relaxed.

The breakfast was solid but nothing special. The patio in the courtyard is very nice, though, and perfect for larger groups. I was a bit disappointed that there were no highchairs.

The Benedict biscuit was good, egg was cooked perfectly. Also enjoyed the ricotta hotcakes, but they weren’t as good as the Benedict biscuit. Friendly staff. The restaurant is located inside a Jewish school built in the 1930s.

My favourite brunch place in Berlin. I've been going here for at least 4 years now. My top picks are the Mimosa (no one does it as well as these folks!) and the Vegan Soboro. The service is also fantastic. If you're in luck, you might get a table despite not having a reservation, but I'd definitely recommend a reservation. They get quite full in the summer. Great outdoor seating in the summer too!

It was super delicious and the restaurant is beautiful.

Very disappointing. The food - brunch - was mediocre at best and the presentation made it look disgusting, I almost didnt eat it. The eggs benedict were dry and tasteless, wasabi undetectable, a beige mess plonked on a huge plate, potato gratin looked like frozen puke and squashing a soup bowl onto the same plate didnt do much for the aesthetic or seem very hygienic. Coffee was lukewarm and watery. Service was practically nonexistent and amateur hour. Was in the courtyard which was quite nice but a bit drab, even in the middle of a sunny day. Not allowing us to pay separately was the last straw. I had to pay for someone I dont even know, no way to get the money back. Absolute cheek and unprofessional. Overpriced and over hyped.
