We went for dinner during the Candyman popup and really enjoyed it. We split shrimp, a chicken salad, carbonara made with fluffy noodles, and a few other dishes. The carbonara was a hit, and I loved the shrimp. We sat outside, and the courtyard is lovely. I, sadly, cannot use chopsticks, so my only complaint is that we were not queried whether we needed forks at the outset. I had to wait around for it, and I think a simple inquiry at the start would be nice given that perhaps others are also like me. That aside, it was great, and we especially enjoyed the setting.

Insgesamt sehr gemischtes Erlebnis. Die Getränkekarte dann doch recht reduziert, das Essen ist in Teilen kreativ, die Qualität ok, es sollte jeder was finden. Der sehr große Nachteil ist, dass die Rechnung nicht gesplittet werden kann. Es muss an einem Tisch eine Person für alle zahlen. Da man anscheinend nur mit Karte zahlen kann, muss klar sein, der Gesamtbetrag geht von einer Karte ab. Ob ich jetzt nur in englischer Sprache bestellen und kommunizieren kann, ist man ja mittlerweile gewohnt, aber die Bezahlsystematik ist völlig am äkunden vorbei. Ein Lokal, was ich wieder von meiner Liste streiche.

Man sitzt sehr schön im Innenhof sehr freundliche Bedienung ausgezeichnetes originelles Essen mit fairen Preisen gute Getränke san miguel vom Fass!

I hate fake humility. Honestly, it’s one of my pet peeves. If you’ve got something going on, show it off — flaunt it. I’m a professor and you will not believe how many students I’ve seen who have given up on themselves for God knows what reason. Nobody wins when people have a low opinion of themselves, nobody! Which is why I have an issue with the name of this wonderful establishment that treated me and my wife Iliana with such eye-watering friendliness and grace. House of small wonder? Try palace of gargantuan promise! Castle of nirvana! Villa of heavenly surprise! I loved how cute everything was. Actually, I was so hysterically charmed by the interior decoration, I thought I sensed a glint of worry in Iliana’s eye (I’ve had some past issues with my commitment to the opposite gender). But that’s just what a well designed place will do to a boy from Peoria, Illinois. We weren’t voted the city with the largest grins for no reason — and so I will continue to flaunt those pearly whites, those ivory panels of contentment. Despite it all, despite it all.

Japan fusion tapas. The food was plentiful for the dishes we ordered. The smashed cucumbers and the blue cheese mash potatoes were quite delicious. I will go back. During the day it is called "House of small wonder" During the evening it is called "CandyMan" They have separate the brunch/lunch and dinners names though it is the same menu. Cheers!

Cute courtyard and definitely worth a visit. However, value for money could be better. The matcha wasn't the best in Berlin but still okay. I find it confusing that you can't tell who is on the staff. I think that's probably part of the concept.

A very sweet place. A beautiful Sunday can start with a breakfast with friends here. The menu is interesting, the place is very strong. There can only be a bit of a queue, there were no reservations at last. For this reason, you can go a little early, it is not very big inside. A very nice breakfast experience. We definitely recommend it.

The brunch is delightful, and the food is excellent. The interior is stunning, making it a perfect spot to meet friends or business partners. The cozy yet modern design, with plenty of plants, adds to the atmosphere. However, the drinks were disappointing; both the mocha latte and cappuccino had far too much milk.

Really friendly staff, including a very smiley greeter. The food was great - I strongly recommend the eggs Benedict with salmon. My only criticism would be that the cold brew was a little small for the price.

All I can actually say is WOW. I've never had such a good avocado breakfast. We were super excited. Luckily the two of us got a place on a Saturday morning without making a reservation. The service is friendly and took our order quickly. The freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious, as was the cappuccino! For breakfast I ate an avocado with two fried eggs, the tomato soup was included in the price. The tomato soup was really tasty, but the avocado tops it all off. It was that good! House of small wonder was definitely a treat in terms of flavour of Japanese fusion food. Let us start with the venue, the venue was super nice amd a very interesting architecture. They have a place to sit inside or outside. The service and staff, the staff was super friendly and really nice. Also very helping when we were not sure on what to order. Then the food was really tasty, had very nice presentation and did not take too long for the food to come. The items we ordered were the Smashed Cucumber, Salmon Tartare, Sesame Chilli Edamame, Popcorn shrimp, Agedashi Gomadofu, Potato Mochi, Matcha Roulade. So was it worth it? Yes, the flavor combined with the ambience and the staff. I was super happy to have had food here. Ps inside was not that full, but outside seating was completely occupied.

Maybe we're just not the target group in our late 50s? Basically it was delicious, although brunch really means something different and it had a friendly touch of “delivery”. Our breakfast was on the table just a few minutes after ordering (and poached eggs at that) and once the table was cleared there was no real possibility of re-ordering coffee ( The inner courtyard is really nice to sit in, just not to linger) as the table is quickly given away. And given the pricing, I find that to be quite sporty and unfriendly. We can't recommend it and won't be coming back. Too bad.

Tourist trap! This place is not worth the hype. Below-average food in an atmosphere that is aptly described as shaby-chic. Inconvenient reservation only with credit card; in case of no-show, €5 per person will be withheld as a penalty. A 10% tip will be added to the price without consultation! After 90 minutes you are forced to leave the table; sales have to be made here. If you like being ripped off like that just to belong, what's the point? - he should stop here.

Food taste is really tasty and as an Asian I approve the fusion food especially the carbonara udon. However, if you're looking for a big portion meal, I wouldn't recommend to eat here. Service is neat and responsive. Love the oldies building ambiance, outdoors and clean toilet.

This place is in a beautiful location, with thick, green vines climbing up the tall brick walls to add to the already wonderful atmosphere. The food overall was great, as was the service. Is great for a dinner with a friend.

Very nice atmosphere, especially if you can sit outside. Delicious food although the bread was a bit dry with the avocado smash. Service was very friendly. What was a bit of a shame is that the sitting time is only limited to 1.5 hours. At least they point this out in a very friendly manner, but I still think it's a bit stupid if you want to have a relaxed brunch.

This place lives up to its name - what a gem. From the moment you walk into the restaurant, you're mesmerized by a beautiful garden with the best ambiance with radiating sun shining down as you grub. My group's favorite was the udon carbonara but mine was kakuni don. The pork was so tender it melted in my mouth and the miso soup to go with was absolute perfect. All of the staffs were also so friendly and had the best personality. This is one place to be remembered for a long long time and hope to be back one day!

I visited this establishment after reading many positive reviews, however, I found the service to be below expectations. It's the kind of place you might start avoiding due to the behavior of the waitstaff. As for the food, while it was flavorful, I felt that the quality didn't quite match the price. it. Is not the type of place I would come back to nor recommend to visit.

Great food in a really cute place but quite expensive. The glasses were worn and therefore didn't look very clean, which really doesn't have to be the case given the prices. In addition, the reservation process was strange: reservations can only be made using a credit card (from which fines are charged for no-shows) and you only have 90 minutes, otherwise you will be asked out.

The food was not good and the prices are excessive. Even though we had a reservation, the waitress urged us to leave even though we still had food on our plates because the table was reserved for other people. The manner was totally unfriendly and she simply placed the receipt on the table and she took the menu out of our hands because she didn't have enough of it even though we wanted to order something else. Of course we couldn't enjoy our food and had to eat it quickly. None of them spoke German. I'm not from Germany either, but you should at least try to speak the language since we are in the capital of Germany and not all people can speak English. If you want to enjoy a nice brunch in a trendy place, there are many other and better options in Berlin. This place is not worth the hype.

Really good food and super chill ambience

Very disappointing. Mediocre food, terrible presentation, drab courtyard - and weren't even given the option of sitting inside, very confusing layout and no signage, poor service, forced to pay together instead of separate bills, all in all I dont get all the hype... The potato gratin has to be one of the most disgusting things Ive seen let alone eaten in a long time - why on earth they call it gratin is beyond me, its just potato mush in a square. No wasabi on the eggs with wasabi, soup was marginally better than out of a tin... All very bizarre. And forcing me to pay for a person Id never met before is an absolute cheek - why? Too lazy to write 2 bills for 2 customers? Wt actual f?

Very disappointing. Food was average, it sounds much better than it tastes. The US style biscuits with the eggs benedict seemed like a nice idea but tastewise not good, too dry, too thick, too bland, not even a hint of wasabi either. The so-called potato gratin was some weird baby food compressed into an ugly beige square, the presentation was appalling, not even a hint of parsley or sth to break up the beige abomination swimming around on a far too big plate. The drinks, soup and salads were quite nice and seemed homemade and the atmosphere is not bad but with a little effort could be so much nicer. The absolute worst, however, was not only that no cash is accepted, which we at least knew in advance, but youre forced to pay for the people you're sitting with - never been so embarrassed in my life, having to pay for someone I barely know. How dare you! Such lazy unprofessionalism. With pen and paper it used to be possible to add up a table of 10 individually but now with all the advantages of modern technology they cant even be bothered to make separate bills. I would have liked to try their dinner menu but wont be back because of that.

Eating in a pig's gallop: This should be taken literally, because at the "dishes for sharing" we were served many dishes in quick succession, most of them with pork. Unfortunately, the selection was quite boring for the demanding price. What was annoying was how “our concept” was explained to us several times in a very snooty way. We didn't get the tea or coffee (according to the menu or "concept"), although shortly after 9 p.m. we were told that the kitchen would be closing soon - in case we wanted a dessert. After the tables around us had been cleaned (we were the last guests in the large hall, but downstairs was still busy), the bill was brought to us without being asked at 9:30 p.m. 9.30 p.m. on Friday evening in Berlin-Mitte! It couldn't be less hospitable. last little wonder

A really nice cafe. The kitchen closes relatively early (4 p.m.) and you are asked to leave very quickly. Paying separately was not possible, but was not shown at the beginning. Food was good but it came at a very different time (about 10 minutes)

If one wants the privilege of having dinner at this restaurant, one must use a reservation platform. Please note that in the event of a no-show, a cancellation fee of five euros must be paid per guest. We were there and I nevertheless found the €15 charge on my card today. Apparently I should have responded to an email asking me to confirm my presence. Isn't just paying the bill enough? The restaurant should definitely stop using such a cumbersome procedure. I had such a lovely experience when I visited right as the cafe opened. The service I received was stellar and one of the servers went out of her way to package a small to-go item perfectly. The food was tasty at a 4/5, latte at a 5/5, and ambience at a 5/5!

We came because of the good reviews and the lovely atmosphere but our overall experience was disappointing. We waited 40 minutes to receive our coffees, and the food took at least 1h. We had the eggs with potato gratin which neither looked nice nor was it particularly tasty.

After a short rest at the hotel, we went to the 'House of Small Wonder', a Japanese-inspired restaurant in the building of the former Jewish girls' school. The architecture is breathtaking, and the charming backyards of the neighboring Heckmann-Höfe offer art, culture and small shops. We ordered the Croque Madame, a crispy toast filled with a generous amount of melted cheese, béchamel sauce and spicy ham, topped with two perfectly cooked fried eggs. The side salad with fresh lettuce, roasted nuts and pomegranate seeds was a delight. The potato gratin we ordered with it was also wonderfully flavorful. A great experience in a beautiful location - ideal for special occasions or simply to treat yourself to something special. The atmosphere in the beautiful, leafy courtyard rounded off the experience perfectly. The 'House of Small Wonder' offers an exceptional culinary experience in a dreamlike setting. A clear recommendation for fans of Japanese cuisine and unique locations!

Be cautious and double-check your bills. Sometimes, additional charges for items you didn't order might be included, leading to a higher total. This happened to me, and I only noticed after I had already paid. They returned the many with a casual excuse…very unpleasant experience.

It’s a super cool place to have fine dining. As an Asian, I would say the food has the spirit of the Asian taste (or a “pinch” of Japanese style if precisely) but mixture of western cuisine. The food is great, we had everything clearly lol. The environment is definitely a highlight, too!

What a picturesque spot for a Japanese-style brunch! I had the Eggs Benedict on a bacon yogurt biscuit, and it was absolutely delicious. Paired with a lovely mimosa cocktail, it made for a perfect meal. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were incredible. Highly recommend!

House of big wonder, more like it. Great food, drinks, service and my favorite: the place itself. You can eat in the airy, open patio (if you’re smart and reserve a table in advance) or inside with the tree art installation. Either way, it’s WONDERful.

-The location and the restaurant is great. Its a big area with trees. Nice peaceful vibe. -Food was average/fine. Nothing which would make me go again but not offensive either. -Service is what will not make me go back to this place. So, the restaurant has a 1.5 hr time limit policy. All good with that. At 55 min while we were still eating, the service personnel asked if he can "take our plates" because they have 1.5 hours time limit. I was literally eating! Then in the next 35 minutes, he came to remind twice when we had already given him the plates and were just finishing our drinks. They can inform at the reception and while taking the order. Why keep coming and saying the same thing! Also there is a polite way of informing rather asking to take the plate of someone who is eating. Talk about killing the peaceful vibe!

I have been here a handful of times but the first time in the new location. First the google maps is not correct. Secondly although they are strict on reservations and taking a deposit they don’t guaranty that you will be serve. Birthday brunch for a friend visiting from Zurich. We sat ignored for 15, she took order we sat without a thing for another 20 when our food started coming but they had forgotten the coffee’s, bubbles and juices. The food was mediocre at best. The avocado toast tasted more like seaweed than avocado, the potato gratin was either old or poorly made (baked mashed potatoes anyone) and the service inexcusable. Sadly we had to cancel the bubbles and most of the drinks and go. Cute space but they need to get their service together. Two servers tried to help but by then our experience had been ruined.

The place itself is great. They offer such a great ambiance and atmosphere to the customers. The food was good and very appetizing. The service we had at the beginning was brilliant. In short They left a great impression on me, but unfortunately, it all went down to drain because of the guy server with blond hair. As we were checking out or paying our bill,my friend and I requested to pay separately, and he promptly told me they don't do it, when I am well aware that the system they are using is capable of doing so. I asked him promptly why we can not pay separately when it is possible? And he bluntly answered, they just don't do it. It made me quite unhappy because it is a common service in berlin to offer or let the customers pay separately in the restaurant. It doesn't say anywhere as well that they don't offer such service. For the last time before we paid the bill, I asked him again why it is not possible to pay separately? Or is it just that you don't want to do it? Surprisingly, he answered me that he just didn't want to do it. With this experience, I am so sorry, but I am not going back and won't recommend this place to any of my friends anymore.

It is one of the sweetest cafes in Berlin, the two eggs and potato gratin is incredibly delicious, it will be one of the first places I will visit when I go to Berlin again. I am also very curious about the summer garden :)

The first thing you’ll notice if you walk into this place is the ambiance that is filled with the greenery that this place offers. The next thing that would mesmerize you is their tight menu, where each dish fights for your attention and gets you confused about which dish to order. This is where the restaurant's fantastic staff comes to your rescue. They are very open about their favorites and will tell you about dishes that should be on your definite try list. Overall, not only did this place kick the culinary experience ball out of the park, but it also delivered a picturesque backdrop for our date. P.S: Make sure you are on time for your reservation. The restaurant also has a 1.5-hour timeline for every reservation. The staff will politely tell you about it when you walk in. Will definitely come back for more.

An absolutely amazing place for brunch. We reserved online and everything worked perfectly. We got our table straight away on the terrace outside. The waiters were there immediately. Coffee was very good. We ordered the Croque Madame, the Eggs Benedict on Biscuits and the Croissant French Toast. Everything was there within 15 minutes and tasted delicious. Probably the best brunch in Berlin :)

The food wasn't bad, especially the matcha cake was very tasty. However, it was simply too expensive for that. We waited a long time until our order was taken and until we could pay. But the staff was very friendly. The decor was also very nice.

There were two of us, without a reservation, and we were quickly seated (Sunday, 1 p.m.). We ordered 1 cappuccino with soy milk (soy/oat milk costs 0.50 euros extra!) and 1 latte macchiato with cow's milk, as well as the French Toast and Kakuni Don croissants. Both dishes looked delicious, the croissants French toast with fruit and cream tasted good, but weren't so unusual that I would order them again. The Kakuni Don was not convincing: it tasted bland and the portion for 17 euros (!) was also very small. The two coffee drinks were also not convincing; they actually tasted very watered down. We won't be coming back.

There was no pollack roe pasta, but I had pasta made with udon noodles. It's delicious!

We went on a weekend , there was a wee bit of waiting. But they gave us outdoor seats. Food was a bit bland , but the quantity was good. Cheesecake was delicious.

I’ve been to this place more than 5 times and every time, the food and atmosphere is great. You can reserve in advance which is amazing for Saturday and Sunday brunch. Location is prime with a beautiful outdoor space when the sun is out. My main critic is regarding the service and how they do not allow you to split the bill…at all! Not taking cash from different people, not even different cards, nor split the bill in equal parts. They just said no. Every time I go with 6 to 9 people and one of us has to pay the entire bill and request PayPal or cash from others. That’s really unpractical in 2024!

My girlfriend and I managed to book a table here. It was a nice experience I must say. The food was tasty and presented so aesthetically pleasing and the atmosphere and decor were classy and comforting. The menu was different from other brunch places, as they had a range of flavours and got that Japanese vibes attached to it. I would recommend the chicken teriyaki. We had a couple of cakes as desert, which was also delicious. The service was friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come back!!

If you do not have a reservation, I would not recommend you to wait if there is a long queue for the flavors that you can find equivalents at a more affordable price, but if you have a reservation with a pleasant atmosphere, eggs benny and its sauce are delicious. I also tried the potato gratin as a side dish, since it is a recommended choice, it is also delicious, the lemonade and coffee are also average. and over.

Ich hatte mich auf das Ambiente gefreut und einen Tisch zum Frühstück online reserviert. Leider konnte man gar nicht drinnen sitzen, sondern nur im Innenhof - obwohl es gar nicht so warm war. Dazu gibt es auf der Webseite auch keinen Hinweis! Der Innenhof ist nichts besonderes, keine spezielle Deko oder so. So mussten wir draußen bei kühlen 16 Grad sitzen. Das ist sehr schade, denn nur für das Essen sind die Preise dann doch zu hoch. 18 Euro für ein (zwar selbstgemachtes aber etwas zu festes) Speckbrot mit zwei Eier drauf und einer kleinen Suppe dazu. Ausserdem spricht das Personal nur englisch. Berlin ist zwar international, dazu zählen aber auch die deutschsprachigen Gäste und zu erwarten das alle englisch sprechen finde ich dann schon dreist und schon irgendwie diskriminierend. Dies gibt den Eindruck das nur internationale Touristen erwünscht sind und keine Berliner. Sehr schade, mein Besuch war leider enttäuschend.

Great service and kindness from the waiters, speed, coarse and delicious food, moderate price and pleasant atmosphere. The place is very beautiful aesthetically and architecturally, the distribution is also quite adequate and the food is very good. They have brunch all day and a varied menu and mimosas.

I usually prefer a savoury breakfast, but their French toast croissant is the best.

I have not enjoyed either the food or the place. I have eaten sitting against a wall, next to other tables with people talking that didn't even let me think. The food without more... Disappointing. I will not repeat

It’s not bad! But pricing is just too high for what is being offered.

I came from the pictures. I lived the garden the calmness of the place. I had a salad and a soup and both were delicious. There was more milk in the matcha.

A little disappointed that they moved. The old location really had its own charm. Otherwise the food was delicious and the service was pleasant.

You can enjoy a perfect calm green atmosphere right in the heart of Berlin. The quality of food is beyond expectation and certainly more than enough. The staff are polite and have wonderful manner.
