It's a Japanese-style restaurant, so it's not Japanese food. The chitin nanban was delicious with the yuzu and pepper, but it wasn't sweet and spicy, so it was something else. The rice that was served was frozen and was left outside. I wanted to eat some warm rice. The brunch set looked delicious.

Very nice atmosphere, well-kept and originally decorated interior. A bit confusing map. Tasty food, but too expensive for the type and quality. Drinks are significantly too expensive. The service employees “always tried hard”. Recommendation for style and ambience. If you value efficiency and price/performance, you may feel more comfortable elsewhere.

House of Small Wonder in Berlin is absolutely incredible! I loved it so much that I went twice despite only being in the city for a week. Their Eggs Benedict is to die for, hands down the best biscuits I’ve ever had, and the gratin dauphinois was amazing. The place itself is beautiful, with a fantastic menu full of great vegetarian options. On top of that, the staff was incredibly sweet and helpful. Definitely one of my favorite memories from Berlin!

You can eat Japanese pork cutlet and katsudon. It may be disappointing to think that the taste is as good as that of Japan or Korea, but I am satisfied with this level of Japanese tonkatsu in Berlin! Since it is Japanese food, the price is between 20-30 euros for tonkatsu. There was a bit of a wait. You can register on the waiting list and go somewhere else for a while. Cards are available.

What a beautiful food and atmosphere! I especially recommend trying the egg+potato.

Small, nice restaurant with very friendly staff and good food. The coffee was also much better than expected and had a slight hazelnut note. Card payment possible from €10.

We arrived at 2 p.m. and asked at reception for a table for 3 children and 3 adults. We were told it was now time for work. Everything closed. A family came in before us and another couple came in behind us. Unfortunately I can't rate the ambience and food. Next time I would like a “Hello” and not directly, we finish work at 2 p.m. even though it says 5 p.m. online. Thank you and never again!

Good food, the staff is really nice.

Delicious breakfasts and drinks are served here. When it comes to dishes, it is difficult to choose one; they offer interesting and unique flavor combinations. The premises have a unique, alternative atmosphere. It is worth reserving a table in advance and checking the prices before visiting the restaurant as they are higher than other breakfast restaurants.

I would definitely recommend the French toast—it’s incredibly tasty, well-prepared but sweet, a must-try if you visit. However, it’s more of a place to go once in a while rather than a regular hangout spot. While the setting is lovely, it might not have enough variety or excitement to keep coming back too often. One important tip: book a table in advance to avoid any disappointment, as it can get busy. Overall, a charming spot worth visiting at least once!

I was really looking forward to a good Eggs Benedict, but this place completely missed the mark. The hollandaise sauce was overwhelmed with vinegar, making it almost inedible. Instead of a rich, creamy texture, all I could taste was sharp acidity. The eggs themselves were just okay, but the sauce ruined the entire dish. Definitely not worth the price, and I won’t be coming back.

Such a beautiful place. The people working here are really kind. The food is insane. And the late was so creamy. For really one of the best lates I have tasted. I had two of them.

The building is interesting with an interesting history (wallpapers give a good overview in German and English). A clear recommendation, I will happily come back

The Japanese curry for 17 euros tasted artificial. Wouldn't drink more than a coffee here. Very crowded. The nice hipster service only speaks English, which I don't think is a bad thing, just in the middle :)

Wonderful café with unique charm! We had a great visit to the House of Small Wonder on Auguststrasse! The espresso martini was absolutely delicious – perfectly balanced and a real highlight. We were particularly impressed by the ambience: super cozy, with great attention to detail and an authentic, inviting atmosphere. A perfect place to relax and enjoy.

It's such a lovely place! The atmosphere and the ambiance are my favorite parts of the restaurant. The service was very friendly and very attentive! I like that the menu is a mix of brunch and asian options. Had miso soup with rice and ricotta pancakes, both were incredible!!

We visited at 3:30 PM and were informed that the break time started at 5 PM. However, starting from 4:20 PM, the staff repeatedly reminded us that we needed to leave by 5 PM. While we understood the first time, the frequent reminders made us feel unwelcome, as if we were being rushed out. We ended up leaving earlier than planned at 4:30 PM. A more considerate approach would have made the experience much better.

Actually a great shop. When you pay then you get disillusioned! We wanted to pay separately and that just wasn't possible. At least not with a card. If you come together you also have to pay together if you want to pay by card! Really strange... and completely stingy (the store is neither cheap nor is it doing badly - on the contrary) of course - saves card fees. Each of us paid over 20 euros. The need for a shop like this - I've lived in Berlin for 25 years - has never happened to me anywhere!!! Sorry, but this is absolutely not a service! The waiters themselves were nice though!

Not really as I imagined the main dishes is tasty but not delicious fully, oily and even Cesar salad tastes fishy which was weird, service takes our cutlery from table without asking if we still need it, overall can be way better than this, it was an experience, thank you

Firstly, we ordered a caesar salad and chicken nanban. The lettuce tastes like so fishy and I hate fish. The other dish was too oily. In the middle of the food, some staff comes and says nothing and takes the whole basket of forks and spoons and leaves. This is really unprofessional and rude. Staff keep falling and breaking the dishes. All in all, not worth it.

Drinks are not worthy, not at all. I deduct 1 star for it, and the menu is very limited, so I deducted another star for this one. But the food taste was very good, although again the price was not affordable in comparison to other similar places. We tried Grapefruit juice and Iced latte from the drink menu, both were the worst experience ever.

A lovely place with a charming, old-fashioned vibe. I particularly enjoyed the menu, styled like a booklet—it’s just brilliant. The food was fantastic and full of flavor. The eggs Benedict with bacon and salmon were delicious, and the French toast with caramel was incredibly fluffy, soft, and perfectly paired with homemade caramel. The chocolate mousse was average, but the mocha cake was quite nice. The highlight, though, was the soup—a creamy, flavorful lentil blend mixed with other ingredients. Amazing breakfast place, but I wouldn’t call it best in Berlin.

We expected more. The potato gratin & the egg were almost cold, the soup lukewarm. The rice bowl had little flavor & the pork wasn't crispy at all and tasted warmed up. We sat in the back room, unfortunately the atmosphere here wasn't as nice as at the bar. Can't recommend it.

Great breakfast - small and intimate and great service

Good breakfast restaurant with cozy vibes. The service is friendly and attentive until the restaurant becomes more and more busy. I definitely recommend a reservation otherwise you won’t get a spot. Overall it was nice but I’m unsure if I’d come again.

My dish was disappointing - potato gratin & eggs. Only the pre made salad and poached eggs were ok. The gratin mashed potato squared off with almost no taste.

Unfortunately our visit was a disappointment. The food was absolutely bland and tasted completely bland. I expected a lot more, especially given the prices - they are simply completely overpriced for what is on offer. The taste was more like what you get on the promenade in Mallorca - geared towards tourists, but without much attention to detail. I was also looking forward to the famous spiral staircase, which is supposed to be the highlight of the restaurant, but unfortunately it is completely missing. This further spoiled the overall impression. The only positive thing was the service - the staff was friendly and accommodating, but unfortunately that couldn't save the dining experience. We probably won't come back.

La comida estaba bien, aunque un poco caro teniendo en cuenta los ingredientes utilizados. Pero, por supuesto, necesitan obtener ganancias. Pedí el Udon Carbonara, y no fue nada especial. Sin embargo, la experiencia tomó un giro a peor cuando casi habíamos terminado con nuestra comida. La camarera, que al principio parecía muy acogedora, de repente nos pidió que nos fuéramos, citando la clásica excusa de necesitar la mesa para otros huéspedes, a pesar de que el lugar estaba casi vacío. Fue extremadamente GROSERO y INACEPTABLE. Esta fue una visita única para mí, y no volveré.

Cute place for brunches! There are some nice vegan dishes on the menu, unfortunately not a single vegan one on the breakfast menu.. why:(? This is the only thing missing

Before coming make reservation in advance. Very polite and friendly staff, delicious food, what else can be better. Big enough place inside. Definitely wanna come again for food, also wanna see in the summer this place. Just cappuccinos was hot, could be better to decrease the temperature.

Had Croque Madame and a lentil soup - both dishes were good. Service team is young and friendly - they could be a bit better organized. I can still recommend HOSW for a little snack

We went for lunch, there is a welcoming atmosphere. Very kind staff. Good food with a wide choice, absolutely recommended, we will return.

The store isn't worth the hype. We became aware of the store because of the good reviews, but we were disappointed. It's not just the concept that's puzzling to me, but also the layout of the store. There are definitely better places for breakfast in Berlin in the same price range, maybe even cheaper. The food came relatively quickly, but was also correspondingly cold, the smell of the food burned into my nose so that I had to hold back from gagging. When I tried the potato gratin, I had a salami taste in my mouth, which only made me gag even more. When we asked the waiter about it, he said that there were no animal components except cheese. On the whole, save yourself the visit and rather throw your money out the window.

We had dinner on New Years Eve and decided to return for their Brunch the next day. The food on both days was jaw dropping delicious! For the dinner we had the blue cheese potatoe salad (YUM!) as well as the potatoe mochis (SO good), the edamame (best I ever had) and the Salmon tartar. The flavour profile of these dishes is simply outstanding, and so is their service! We accompanied our dinner with some hotballs (Lychee and Plum) + the mandatory Sake (which was heated up right in front of our eyes). As for the brunch the following day, we decided to go for the Avocado Smash, French Toast + Benedicts and what can I say? Everything was on point. Loved it! Their Matcha Latte was very smooth and well balanced (and I am a Matcha Latte enthusiast). If you like Japanese Fusion in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere and want to give your taste buds a new kick - this is where you should go.

Soft jazz music playing in the backdrop and calming warm lights all round, the ambience was just what I needed after partying all night long the previous night. Waiters were efficient and friendly. The dishes I ordered were superb, especially the Kakuni. The pork was tender and flavorful. The Kinoko Udon was good too, but I enjoyed the other one the most. Excellent food overall!

Even though we didn't have a reservation, they were very kind and did not turn us away. The building where the venue is located is very beautiful, the place and the atmosphere are also very nice and enjoyable. The employees are very polite, friendly and fast. We went for breakfast and were very pleased.

Ambience is nice. Service is also good. But prices are too high. Especially for what you get. Almost €20 for egg soup and a bit of potato gratin is too much. And what is particularly disappointing is that when we asked, we were assured that the orange juice was freshly squeezed. It does contain some pulp and maybe some real orange juice, but it's definitely stretched. Little sour and tastes more like a thirst quencher than real juice. You feel a bit cheated.

We didn't have a reservation and luckily we didn't wait in line at all. The atmosphere is quite nice and you enter through a huge door, you cannot enter directly from the street, you have to enter a building and this makes the place quite mysterious :) I found the food very delicious, the plants inside added naturalness to the environment. The products were very high quality and delicious, and the portions were quite large. I loved the salad, potatoes and soup. Their coffee is also soft.

The area is beautiful, despite the fact that many people comfortably seated us, there were very tasty ricotta cupcakes

Really nice food, unique flavours, great drinks & cocktails – we (4 very hungry adults) ordered 6 savoury dishes, 2 desserts + 4 drinks and left with full bellies feeling very satisfied. Would definitely recommend to foodies! Some of our favourites included udon carbonara, omu yakisoba, miso dengaku eggplant. Fair price too at €130. Nicely decorated, friendly staff and atmosphere. If you are lookings for Place where you have to wait 40 minutes for your first coffee, this is a good option. Food was not more than okay. I don’t get the hype to be frank.

Banning dogs is now really unusual!

Unfortunately the food was bad, dishes didn't arrive as described and were super expensive. The deep fried tofu in particular looked like washed-up jellyfish. Too bad, not recommended.

Although the restaurant doesn't "fill your eyes" visually, the service from the staff, the flavors, the eggs benedict and the croissants with maple syrup were among the best breakfasts you can taste in Berlin

The names of the dishes seem to be familiar, but this is absolutely the author’s vision with Japanese notes in taste and attention to detail. The bread, the avocado spread, the salad dressing and even the tea are all nuanced and carefully chosen and combined. The price for breakfast is certainly not the best, but this place is definitely worthy of a visit by people who like their food to be taken care of and not just thrown on a plate. There are no questions about the service either, everything is fast, correct and with attention to the guest. The atmosphere is pleasant, chairs, carpet, upholstery on the fences, and you can just sit by the window for a long time. and of course a vintage entrance from the GDR era))

I like the food, it is tasty and I like that the Avo Smash Toast comes either with a side salad or soup. The interior is very pretty. However, what kills it all for me is their 2h time restriction for brunch. Let's say I reserve and I know the deal when I go there...but they don't even follow their own policy. A friend of mine and I went there for brunch, when entering we were told we have to leave after 1.5h to which we said okay, cause what other option do we have, but after 1h the waiter came and told us that we have to leave in the next 5-10min cause they have to prepare the table for the next customers. This made our time and experience quite rushed and not pleasant, we had to finish our drinks quickly and leave.

Cute place to have brunch. Love the atmosphere of many plants, antique decor, wallpaper. The Benedict was a small portion with soup/salad. My partner had a vegan bowl from the Japanese menu (he loved it). Though the bailey hot chocolate could use better chocolate/cocoa powder. Would come back here to try something else on the brunch menu.

We were recommended by someone from Berlin and I am sorry to say that it was below expectations. The food is correct although some dishes seemed a bit weak to me (fried fish). The chicken wings, great! I ordered a small bottle of wine but they brought me a mini jug (I had never seen it in a place of a certain level). The place is not very comfortable: tables very close together and with little light in some places. It is a correct place, without more.

The interior of the restaurant is very nice, the furnishings are tasteful. We found it comfortable. The matcha latte and hot chocolate were very tasty, the Egg Benedict was not my taste. The arrangement and decoration of the dishes and drinks were very appealing. We liked it. The volume level is quite high, so conversations can be tiring at times. The staff was consistently friendly and polite. The prices are rather higher, but probably normal for Berlin-Mitte. Ultimately the price-performance ratio was right.

What an amazing experience. Amazing building taking you to something like the 20's/30's Berlin. You dive in a hipster alternative atmosphere, with amazing staff and great food. Pricey but considering everything, it was ok.

I was very pleased with my visit to this restaurant! The atmosphere here is warm and friendly, which makes spending time especially enjoyable. We tried several dishes and each one was prepared with the highest quality and attention to detail. The waiters were attentive but unobtrusive, which added to the positive emotions. The restaurant was a real find for us and we will happily return again. Would recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy great food and great service!

Overrated place with a good although rather expensive food. And complicated booking process

Great food on a really nice chilled out location. 6 of us came here for brunch, all ordered something different, and no spoke for about 10 minutes. The food was that good.

If you're on a diet, this place is for you! The portions were very small, and the price was extremely high - e.g. 18€ for 2 toast, an egg on top, and a little bit of green salad. Also, you have limited time at your table until they ask you to leave, and you can't split the bill.

Having already come alone during the week to have a drink, I wanted to take my girlfriend there on a Sunday lunchtime for brunch. I am extremely shocked by the young woman at reception who did not bother to glance at me and say “We don’t have a table for you”. (03/11/2024 at 1pm)
