We were eagerly awaiting our 8-week reservation (!) at this "exceptionally popular" restaurant. "Cancel in good time," they told us, and "after 15 minutes of delay," the table would be given to (similarly anxious guests) - they told us. If you canceled too late, you could even expect a cancellation fee (!) - they told us. We were extremely excited and, of course, arrived on time. We had booked in the lounge, which seemed very chilled and luxurious on the website, but in real life was rather plain and somehow outside the service-related focus. So we waited about 15 minutes until our first drink order was taken. The meal itself was truly fantastic, but ordering more drinks in between was very tedious. The server was either glued to his phone or simply not there. Even the final, non-contactless payment was so tedious that we ended up having to pay in cash. Okay, but it should be mentioned upfront. The service - when it was there - was really nice. The wine was okay, but the daily aperitif, lemonade with rosemary sprigs for €8.50, was significantly overpriced. It was just a ginger lemonade with rosemary sprigs and a mango wedge. Quite uninspiring for a "daily recommendation." All in all, despite all the hype beforehand, the final performance didn't impress us. "OVER THE TOP" best describes it. A term coined for this establishment. Sorry, but we were very disappointed.

The Bali brunch is equally impressive: The Balinese white sausages with peanut mustard are truly special, the Balinese scrambled eggs are incredibly delicious, and the black rice pudding is a treat. The best part: Everything is prepared fresh and with incredible creativity – you can taste the passion in every bite. The cocktails and drinks are a highlight in themselves – super creative...they're simply fun. The service is consistently attentive and warmly friendly, and you always feel welcome – even when it's busy. The restaurant impresses both inside and out: The interior is super friendly and bright, while the inviting and chilled terrace invites you to relax. Whether it's a Bali brunch or a cozy dinner in the evening – it's simply a pleasure to be here. The "Long Table" is still on our list to try. With this quality and service, the value for money is simply TOP. What a shame! We've been to Hot Chili many times, and the food, as most of the reviews indicate, is fantastic. But we can't judge this time or the last, as the owners' success has obviously gone to their heads and they no longer feel the need to serve their guests. Exactly three weeks ago, we wanted to go to dinner at 8:50 p.m., and we were really looking forward to it, but the owners had already started cleaning the kitchen, even though the website says they serve hot meals until 9:30 p.m., and they sent us away because it wasn't that busy that day, and they've already closed the kitchen. So, even if it wasn't busy, they should have had all the time in the world to cook for their guests, but they apparently didn't need to. I would have forgotten about the incident and not written a review, even though I was very disappointed, if we hadn't been sent away again today! Today we were at Hot Chili at 8:25 p.m., and you wouldn't believe it, but today we didn't get anything to eat because there were too many guests and they were overworked in the kitchen. Even though there were still plenty of free tables, we weren't allowed to sit down. First there were too few guests, then too many! How would the owners approve? Either something is wrong with the organization, or the owners can simply afford to treat guests as they see fit. We are very disappointed and will avoid the restaurant in the future and also inform many of our friends who are also regulars there. A real shame!

The evening for two was very pleasant. There was free parking for guests right in front of the restaurant, which was very convenient. The food was exotic and very tasty, even if some dishes were quite spicy, which is to be expected. There are many vegetarian and vegan options. The service was very attentive and friendly. Card payments were accepted. The only downside was the atmosphere outside, which looked a bit unkempt, with leaves on the tables.

An unusual location but very nice, with a good atmosphere. The satay skewers were delicious, the peanut sauce was nice, but lacked that final touch. The grilled shrimp were excellent. The fish in a banana leaf was a bit bland but still tasty, and the side dishes were very good. The chicken in soy sauce was a bit sweet and lacked that final touch. The visit was somewhat marred by the very long wait for the waiter, menu, food, etc. It would have been nice to have some bread or crackers in the meantime. In summary: nice and unusual, but unfortunately, I can't completely agree with the enthusiastic comments.

Original Balinese cuisine at its finest! Today we had a really good meal (finally again)! Hot Chili offers authentic Balinese cuisine at the highest level. From the aperitif to the dessert, everything was absolutely harmonious:. The selection of Spritz variants and the Frizzante are great for an aperitif. I can particularly recommend the Nasi Campur, a wonderfully balanced main course. Finally, the homemade ice cream – a poem! The service team was outstanding: warm, attentive, professional and with real advisory skills. You can tell that people work here with passion. The ambience is warm, cozy and stylish with beautiful lighting. Conclusion: A culinary pearl in Steinebach – we will definitely be back. Thank you for this thoroughly successful evening!

We went to the Bali brunch on Sunday, which I highly recommend. A diverse selection of dishes, something for everyone, all super delicious and absolutely filling. Besides the really good pandan pancakes and banana bread, the highlight was the hazelnut-free chocolate spread, which made one of our group's allergies very happy :) Very nice location and easy to reach by public transport thanks to the S-Bahn right next door.

Everyone radiates a warmth that's simply contagious. And the food… I'm almost at a loss for words! It was simply amazing. This incredible variety of spices, perfectly matched, made every single bite an absolute taste experience. So intense, so fresh, so full of life – it was as if an explosion of flavors were dancing on your tongue. I've rarely eaten so well. There's so much passion and attention to detail here that you can taste it in every dish. For me, Hot Chilli is definitely a culinary highlight and a place I'd love to return to again and again. Anyone looking for fantastic food, great service, and a truly comfortable atmosphere must go here. Simply WOW!

Food cooked for far too long and complaint not accepted

The place itself is nice and the food is good, prices can vary. We had to wait quite some time (20 minutes) until we could order our food, even if there were not too many customers and plenty of stuff in my opinion. The waiter then apologised and gave an ice cream on the house and then we had to wait another 20 minutes to pay. Overall a nice experience, but a very slow service from the staff.

The taste was truly different, but incredibly delicious, with spices and flavors than I've experienced in curries before, but it was an absolute delight and leaves me wanting more! For our company party, the Nauli & Stories team chose Hot Chilli at Steinebacher – and we couldn't have wished for a better location. We were thrilled with the Indonesian cuisine – fresh, balanced, and prepared with love. Our Indonesian team members were also impressed by the authenticity and flavor of the dishes. Only spicier sambal alternatives would have been even more perfect for Indonesian palates. The sambal matah was still great! We recommend Nasi Campur to anyone new to Indonesian cuisine, as it offers a wide variety of flavors. The selection of vegan dishes is fantastic. Be sure to try the cocktails and ice cream! The evening was perfectly rounded off by the attentive service and the warm hospitality of the host. Thank you for this wonderful evening – we will definitely be back!

Very tasty, fresh food with foreign flavors, beautifully presented and pleasant, knowledgeable service. There were 6 of us and we were all thrilled. The dessert or ice cream flavors are also worth a sin. The restaurant is busy even on weekdays, and rightly so.

Where is the 6th star… the Hot Chilli is the very best restaurant very very far and wide. Such fresh and delicious food, such unique and cool cocktails and a staff that not only thinks they are the best, but also exudes it. Plus the super cozy location in the old train station, no wonder it's fully booked every evening. We were able to organize a big 60th birthday and, together with the team, we conjured up a magical moment for the woman celebrating her birthday that will last for a long time. THANK YOU for your impressive, delicious and personal island in this gastronomic world.

“Long table” with birthday guests To celebrate my big birthday, we went to the long table with family and friends for a 5-course meal. A completely happy experience. Atmosphere including acoustics great. The food is top class: fresh, delicately seasoned, sometimes spicier, light Asian with lots of vegetables. Good wines at a fair price. The attentive service provided wholesome alternatives for vegetarians, and even those with fish and crustacean allergies could be fully addressed (including fish paste-free seasoning sauce in special bowls). The entire birthday party was full (for the gourmands among the gourmets there was even a second helping of the main course, which wasn't actually necessary but some couldn't refuse because it was so delicious) and happily made their way home, many with the S-Bahn that went directly to the restaurant. We are all looking forward to coming back.

Went here for brunch and were completely satisfied. The food is authentic, super tasty and there is a sufficient selection from salty to sweet. The price of €26 per person is not cheap, but it does reflect current gastro prices.

Brilliant! Came here because of a report about the hot chili in southern Germany and were not disappointed. Super delicious food that you can't easily find elsewhere. The atmosphere is great and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. We'll be happy to come back despite the 35 minute journey. :)

Already after the amuse-bouche it was clear that this would be a successful culinary evening. The restaurant is decorated in a very modern style, but the Balinese touch is noticeable. We received a very friendly welcome and were informed about the “Long Table” concept. The drinks menu left nothing to be desired and the cocktails were very good. Each plate was very attractively designed and tasted amazing. Balanced flavors and combinations of sweet, sour and spicy made the meal an experience. Regarding the level of spiciness: The name of the hot chilli may scare some guests away. However, the chef here manages the masterful feat of adjusting the spiciness in such a way that people who like it very spicy are not disappointed, while people who don't like spiciness at all are gently introduced to the spicier cuisine without having to suffer. We'll definitely be back!

We were at the "Langen Tafel" at Hot Chilli in Steinebacher - a 5-course surprise meal that really impressed us! Every course was an experience, but the soup and dessert were my personal highlights. Today we went to the long table that takes place on Sundays at the Hotel Chilli for the first time and were absolutely thrilled! Every Sunday there is a new surprise menu consisting of several courses and every single one absolutely impressed us! The sizes of the individual menus are perfect, if you want a little more you can simply order more for the main course as you wish! The service was outstanding! Courteous, attentive, quick and very personable! Even the chef personally came to each table after the meal and introduced himself and got feedback - absolutely likeable! I would like to give more stars if I could, we will definitely be back!

It was an accidental discovery, but what a discovery! The location: a disused train station that has been incredibly beautifully renovated and redesigned. The hosts have created a loving atmosphere. Candles and fresh flowers are arranged on each table. You feel spoiled. The food: exceptionally good, delicately prepared, very tasty and just the right portions. I had gado-gado and was worried that the peanut sauce might be very heavy. But it was excellent and not at all difficult to digest. The service: I haven't felt so good and welcome in a long time. You can feel real warmth from the young and lively staff. And Willi really has the best team in the world. Thank you very much and please keep it up!

As an Indonesian, I can say that the meals are quite authentic in taste. Some meals are customized to a few preferences of the Western tongue which is understandable and that doesn't decrease any value of the food or the taste :) For me the Sambal is so darn good! If you love spicy in a comfortable way, you must get one! Or two of it!!! *I had to ask for a refill because it's so addictive 🙈* From the starter until dessert everything was a chef's kiss on the taste! 🤩 definitely I’d come herself again in the future. Also, I’m looking forward to trying Menu Of The Day once it is offered on a regular basis 😊 The service was satisfying. Attentive, kind, and very helpful!✨even the owner is helping to serve the food and he takes time to talk with the guests :) For the atmosphere of the lounge concerning the table for two, a small candle and a small flower could spark a more warm and lively feeling to the eyes :)

It's been a long time since I've been this excited about a restaurant. The old Steinebach train station is a temple of tasty food and customer service! A warm welcome and a nice place on the terrace were immediately combined with a fine recommendation for an aperitif. The sea buckthorn Sprizz was extremely tasty - not too strong, not too sweet - the taste of the sea buckthorn came through pleasantly. The starters, the Balinese noodle soup and the grilled shrimp were a taste dream! A cornucopia of flavors paired with a pleasant spiciness. And if you want something spicier - the homemade sambal is a real hit. So much flavor in spicy was great ☺️ The main courses - the beef bowl and boss Ayun's favorite salad - continued right where the starter ended: an A+ in terms of taste and quality A fine wine and cocktail list rounds everything off to a perfect evening. My recommendation: the Honeymoon and the Blanc de Pacs 😋😋 We were really full, but we couldn't resist a scoop of the homemade chocolate ice cream with cayenne pepper - it was melting 🫠 And the best thing: When you hear the S-Bahn, you can comfortably walk to it, get on and reflect on the culinary experience in peace on the journey home. 🥰 We'll be back!

I went to Bali brunch with a friend! The food was absolutely filling for two people and super tasty & interesting - I don't know of any other place where you can find this food. The service was also super attentive and nice & the atmosphere was also very cozy, it wasn't too loud, even if all the tables were occupied. Would definitely come here again 🥰

The minced chicken sate was quite tasty but the beef rendang and Bali chicken curry were not impressive for the price. The latter tasted and smelled like any chicken curry served for lunch in Thai restaurants. The rendang needed more spices and herbs. Luckily the coconut ice-cream and pandan ice-cream were delicious. It's quite loud if you sit inside, perhaps because of the acoustics. The decor is stylish.

There are so many great reviews for a reason! You're right! Our recommendation: Nasi Campur for 2 people, coconut ice cream, homemade juices. We found the restaurant's prices to be reasonable considering the quality! And yes, the employees and boss were very friendly and committed. The generous supply of food should also be mentioned. We'd love to come back - but only after the mosquito season...

We had the spring rolls, a tender beef rendang and a veggie poke bowl. Probably the best meal I have personally eaten since living in Germany and the service was second to none. An outstanding restaurant in the area not to be missed. Wholeheartedly recommended, I will definitely come back.

The hot chilli surprised me very positively. Since I approach my taste experience extremely precisely - as a matter of principle, I pay every attention to depth and richness of dimensions. It has to be excellent to be good. And that's exactly what I found in Hot Chilli. Dressings and marinades had received a lot of inventiveness and attention in the recipe, grilling and cooking processes in the preparation to the point. The greatest praise for a restaurant for me is that I want to go there and eat every day. At Hot Chilli I would really like to have something to eat in addition to my usual local diet. But since I live in Berlin and already have a well-stocked culinary habitus, I can only recommend everyone in the region to consider Hot Chilli as their regular restaurant. And anyone who hasn't been yet should really take a look. I'll definitely be back on my next visit to Munich and I'm really looking forward to the great cuisine at Hot Chilli. I found the staff to be young and very friendly. Open-minded and committed, successful efforts were made to cater to the guests professionally. I have been a professional chef for 17 years and do catering in the state and federal capital.

We took a cooking class as a group with Ayu at Hot Chili. Everything was very lovingly prepared and decorated. We had an unforgettable evening under Ayu’s professional guidance. The meal we prepared together was delicious!

The three of us went for brunch on a Sunday, very excited to see what a Bali brunch would be like. The brunch costs 26 euros per person (excluding drinks) and it's worth it! There is a very large selection with egg dishes, muffins, rice dishes, bread baskets and fresh fruits. Very lovingly prepared and to the great delight of our daughter, mostly vegetarian or even vegan. Everything was very fresh and wonderfully Indonesian, for example, the rice dish was refined with pandang leaves. We also ordered the Balinese white sausage in lemongrass stock. Maybe not for traditionalists, but we liked the idea and enjoyed it too. The service was courteous and attentive. Hot Chili has been busy since it opened last October, so be sure to make a reservation.

A little tip for future guests: If you order one of the highly recommended starters, you would do well to order the main course as a small portion, otherwise it will hardly be possible to finish it (almost a sin given the quality of the food). Hello there! The food is super delicious - a straight 10!!! We were initially neglected in the service, but then we made our presence felt and after that everything happened very quickly. However, my tip would be to number the tables so that the staff can assign the dishes correctly and the cutlery should be at the table before eating! The waitresses are very nice, but there is still room for improvement in the service 🙋‍♀️
