Hofbräu am Dom in Erfurt

Delicious and beautiful at the Hofbräu am Dom! We arrived, found a nice seat, and ordered our food. Very nice ambiance, and very delicious food. The service gets one star less, as unfortunately, we couldn't get a meat dish with any other side dish, even though it was paid for. But otherwise, everything was very good. We can recommend the Hofbräu am Dom.

Very tasty and not overpriced food, when the weather is nice you can sit outside in front of the restaurant and have a view over the cathedral square and the cathedral.

Beautiful restaurant with the most friendly staff in Erfurt. Patrick is absolutely amazing. Super friendly, approachable, and has everything under control. Even though he said it was a stressful day today :P The portions are definitely filling, and it's delicious, too. Given the size of the restaurant, it's quite noisy. The interior upstairs is modern, but the cellar vault downstairs is recommended.

"Läkka" food and "läkka beer" cozy brewery atmosphere.

Sorry, unfortunately, that's not possible. I'm in Munich quite often, and the Hofbräu in Erfurt is a cheap imitation. The liver dumpling soup was too cold, and the cheese spaetzle was from a packet from a well-known Thuringian company (Henglein), but it didn't have much cheese. The few pieces (estimated 2 teaspoons) were pizza cheese from a packet and definitely not mountain cheese. Both were €7.90 and €17.50, respectively. I'm from Thuringia, and I also like Bavarian cuisine, but this was no good. Better go next door to the Schnitzeltyp.

We were there on Good Friday in April. Very nice location inside and outside. Very good beers. Very friendly and attentive staff! The price/performance ratio was good. We didn't eat anything. A must-visit when in Erfurt :)

Hello everyone, We had dinner with you yesterday in a cozy atmosphere. First of all, we'd like to highlight your fantastic employee/waitress, Doreen. A truly incredibly friendly waitress who lives and breathes customer service and customer satisfaction. You don't see that every day anymore. Make sure you keep this lovely lady before other employers snatch her away ;-) The ambiance and location of the restaurant are simply fantastic. The food was also very tasty. The star deduction is only because the knuckle of pork yesterday was a bit salty. However, I would like to emphasize that this is my perception and may well differ from others'.

The café itself looks inviting from the outside, but unfortunately our visit was anything but pleasant. The staff was extremely rude and obviously made little effort to understand us as foreigners. Although I speak the German language at a very high level, even simple expressions like “card payment” were met with a dismissive “I don't understand you”. Of course I know that my pronunciation isn't perfect - but a minimum of effort wouldn't have been too much to ask. Such experiences are just disappointing. It's sad when you feel so unwanted as a guest. I definitely won't visit this cafe again - and can't recommend it to anyone.

Stable service and food quality for years. Even when the hotel is sometimes full, the staff is attentive and remembers preferences. Small point deduction for the sometimes terrible beer table music, which is sometimes too loud.

Great Munich style restaurant. Here you can eat delicious meat and drink delicious beer. The only disadvantage is that most of the staff cannot speak English.

The Hofbräuhaus on the village square impresses with delicious, typically Bavarian food - hearty, fresh and prepared with love. The rooms in the vaulted cellar are particularly impressive: rustic, atmospheric and full of charm. Here you can enjoy yourself in a special atmosphere. A visit is worth it – whether for a cozy meal for two or a convivial evening with friends!

100% highly recommended. A highly motivated service team works here and the food is so delicious and really uniquely tasty. The quality of the products used is still very important and lived here. Gladly 5 stars. Every time you visit, you always feel, as the Bavarian would say, “very comfortable” here!

The Hofbräu has a great location with a view over the cathedral square. The food was very good and well prepared. The staff were very friendly. We can absolutely recommend the restaurant. Gladly again soon.

The food came within 5 minutes of ordering and the goulash was dry, tough and only lukewarm. However, the service was nice.

We were here again today, we've actually always been happy, but not today. The dishes were served at the same time, some piping hot, others cold. The farmer's breakfast here is a small portion of fried potatoes with a fried egg. The prices for drinks are too high, we won't be coming back for a while.

We spent an absolutely great evening here today and the service deserves high praise! Doreen was courteous, quick and sweetened our evening with her open manner! The food was great and very tasty!

Got a table at the Hofbräuhaus Erfurt yesterday afternoon without a reservation. Nicely and stylishly furnished for a brewery. Nice and quick service. Menu typical of the location. We decided on roast pork and meatloaf. A good choice. Everything fresh, tasty and rich.

Employees mostly nice. Food came quickly. Ambiance is also okay (the music is not recommended for everyone) food was good.

No, the food took a long time and wasn't particularly special. Dumplings not cooked through, edge of meat very dry, schnitzel as thin as a dishcloth...

A visually very nice restaurant. Be sure to pre-order. Has several floors, no parking nearby. There should be no further difference between price and performance. Our waitress said to us: “... oh, I have to work, I would rather go party too” ... no further words are needed about the service.

This restaurant used to be our favorite place for every short vacation to Erfurt. Unfortunately, the food and service have continued to deteriorate. You no longer feel welcome; you just get processed – pay and say goodbye. Criticism of the food is accepted, but tacitly accepted. There is no apology or small gesture of reparation. Despite everything, we give it three stars because the ambience in this brewery is very nice. I hope that on our next visit our criticism will be accepted and perhaps implemented for the better.

Were in Erfurt between the holidays and visited the Hofbräu am Dom. It was a lovely evening, the food was delicious 😋 and the service was quick and had a nice saying despite the many guests. We would definitely stop by again when we visit Erfurt.

Never again! Food more than disappointed and has nothing to do with Bavaria. Cold, loveless.

I would like to give a general summary of the restaurant and its management by writing about what I experienced yesterday. As soon as I entered, I was greeted by the waitresses with rude looks like they were asking “why did you come? what do you want?” (especially an elderly lady’s look and attitude towards me was quite rude) and again they rudely showed me where I should sit. Then, within a few seconds and without saying anything, they took me from my table and showed me a corner. They tried to rush me and take my order without even letting me look at the menu. I just sat at my table and as a tourist I was trying to understand the menu. Frankly, I do not understand why there is so much opposition to English in a touristic place. I asked the waitress for Wildgulasch. It was served to me quickly and cold, as if a frozen food had been put in the microwave. I know that goulash is essentially a dish containing lots of meat. However, what they gave me was only 3 small pieces of meat and I had to struggle to find them on the plate. The entire plate was covered with cold and tasteless sauce and mushrooms. When I immediately finished my meal (the taste was so awful that I could only eat the potatoes and 3 small pieces of meat) and left, when I tried to show the waitress the situation and the way I was treated, the only response I got was “Sorry” with an insincere smile and she turned and left without saying anything. I have heard of people experiencing this kind of disgrace in different branches of this same restaurant. In summary, if you are a tourist who does not know German, I would say do not go.

Food good but service leaves room for improvement. Some food wasn't ordered, some orders arrived cold. Overall a medium experience.

After I reported very positively last year, today I experienced something completely different. Despite making a reservation, they didn't even check whether I had made a reservation and simply sent me to a corner. Service overloaded and not at all careful. After taking the order almost immediately and distributing drinks, there was hardly any service, food was brought, but then nothing else happened. Unusual on a Tuesday at 1 p.m. It felt like I walked past 50 times and didn't come despite shouting. When the lady finally stood frantically at the table, she told me that her boss wouldn't give her roller skates, otherwise she would be faster. Again she was gone for a long time and another waitress recognized that we wanted to pay. Then the original waitress appeared with the bill in her hand. When I asked if I could pay by card, she angrily tore up her piece of paper at the table in front of us and walked away without a word. No, this is not worthy of any Hofbräuhaus!

Staff was okay, unfortunately the food was not. The starter soup was cold and the main course was just something for everyone who was very hungry, a shame, a shame. All in all not recommended.

First the positive, you got a place. Drinks came quickly, food was ordered 5 minutes later. Soups served cold, somewhat edible after complaining about being microwaved. Waiter didn't know if food was available. Main courses came without appetizers and were lukewarm at best. Unfortunately, it was therefore disappointing to eat here.

Mid-range restaurant with little atmosphere. The dishes taste strongly of flavor enhancers and finished products. No repeat for us.

It's a shame that only one (very friendly and hard-working) employee was available for the entire area during Advent. She had to take orders for food and drinks and sometimes even pour the drinks herself. Therefore the waiting times were quite long overall. The burgers of the people sitting next to us weren't really warm. I had a lunch board. That was ok, but I found the price to be quite sporty.

Dec.2024. Today we were on the 1st of Advent (Reservation) with 15 people 11 a.m. in the Restaurant, After several back and forths, we came up with one Table assigned in the cellar vault Right after the place, a lot of people take us in that it smells very strongly of the toilet. Unfortunately there was no waiter responsible for us and we sat until 11.25am without one to be able to place an order. After We left the restaurant with a beer left 12:00 p.m. This is for one State capital intolerable. I will never anything in the restaurant again take from me. Silvio M. Bj. 1966 ERFURT

The duck was neither crispy nor well done, poor price-performance ratio, the service was nice but couldn't save it

The lady with the red hair (she was probably called Claudi) has exactly the sense of humor that a customer likes. Polite, helpful, relaxed and customer focused. She treats guests the way you would want them to at home. We got what was missing everywhere in Erfurt here, which was fun for us.

Had a burger...and it was delicious. Oktoberfest beer was also tasty...what more could you want. The music was... well, not my taste or I didn't drink enough beer... you just have to like it. Overall I would recommend it!

We were invited there for a birthday. They serve good home-style food. Price/performance is OK. I had one there Salad that was very tasty and an apple strudel that was also good. About the ambience. The background noise was very extreme because there were several companies there. Chairs became uncomfortable over time, at least if you had to sit there for more than an hour.

Very good and fast service in a well-maintained historic house. I look forward to the next visit with my group.

Rustic and delicious, authentic is different but ok. You can be lucky when it comes to service. But most of the time the service seems stressed.

Viennese veal schnitzel for 29.90. For the price you can expect better quality. The schnitzel was very small. I think about 160 grams of pipe weight. But a lot of potato salad from the bucket. Industrial potato salad of very poor quality. Tastes disgusting. Meat quality was OK. Overall I would say. Never again. But the beer is great.

Delicious food, but unfortunately poor service. We had to wait a long time for the food and couldn't eat together.

Three of us were guests on a Sunday evening. Unfortunately a negative experience. A large part of the dishes that are among the restaurant's specialties were out, e.g. roulades, goulash and Bavarian duck. With great difficulty we managed to get two hot dishes and one cold one. The staff at least explained the situation to us in a very friendly manner, which simply shouldn't happen in such a renowned restaurant, part of a well-known chain.

A very good place for a delicious beer 🍻 the Hackepeter was good, I personally missed the capers. The Obatzda was good, but quite a small portion. Overall, the service was very good and we would be happy to come back.

We ordered duck. The food came fairly quickly, unusual for freshly prepared duck. The red cabbage was completely overcooked with no taste, and the duck leg had not been completely removed from the quills before roasting. The meat was tough and, like the red cabbage, tasteless. The service staff passed the complaint on to the kitchen. The answer was that the chef didn't know what he could do better? We are very disappointed. HH

Our visit to the “Hofbräu am Dom” was a complete success. Shortly after we sat down, we were greeted by a very friendly waitress, which left a great first impression. The service was really excellent - not only were we noticed quickly, but the drinks also came to our table quickly, which we really appreciated. The food was also excellent. The portions were generous and we were completely impressed by the quality of the food. The burger in particular was very tasty, and the side dishes such as the crispy fries and the fresh salad were also absolutely harmonious. In addition to the great service and the good food, we were particularly impressed by the atmosphere. The interior of the Hofbräu am Dom is beautiful – traditional and inviting, with great attention to detail. You immediately feel at home and can enjoy your meal in a relaxed environment. All in all, our visit was a complete success. We will definitely come back and can highly recommend the Hofbräu am Dom to everyone!

If you like a Bavarian atmosphere with hearty food, HB is the right place for you. In addition, the best cellarer Maria works there.

Although there were only four guests in the outdoor dining area, we weren't even asked if we wanted to order anything. Now we are sitting opposite in the sun and were served courteously. Last year there was a local operation and everything went well. Too bad...

Great location, service a little slow when we were there but the salads are great. Relatively expensive, but still OK.

We reserved a long-term table for 7 people, and at the agreed time we were assigned a round table inside, where 6 people could eat in peace with some effort. When we asked the waitress that this table wasn't enough, she simply told us we could look for a table outside and disappeared, never to be seen again. I've never been treated so harshly in the restaurant industry. We then found another upscale restaurant where there was no problem finding a table for 7 people even without a reservation and we were welcomed with open arms. We will avoid this restaurant in the future and certainly cannot recommend it to friends and business partners. It certainly won't interest anyone in charge, since most of the customers are tourists anyway and won't be regular customers...

Not so great for larger groups. I was there for 2 hours. I have 1 fl. Get water and 1 food. Kl. Helles only in bottles. Then I still have a bottle. Want water, but no waiter in sight. I saved money that way, but I had to drink somewhere else.

I would give 0 stars everywhere if I could. The store isn't nearly full, but you still have to wait 30 minutes for someone to take your order. Disaster 🤦‍♂️

The outdoor area was well filled on Thursday, August 15th, 2024, the temperatures were over 30°. Thanks to your very committed and friendly service worker Doreen, I received my favorite dish (beef roulade with red cabbage and potato dumplings and of course lots of soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo thanks. I was even able to pay in advance when ordering. I was a bit limited in time and Doreen's helpfulness was really helpful and brilliant. As always, it tasted excellent and the portion was plenty for a hungry adult with a good appetite. Beer was tasty. I am extremely satisfied with my visit 😉

The snack plate was plentiful, but not Bavarian, not even a radish, Grilled knuckle good, but with mustard from Bautzen, is certainly cheaper, but not Bavarian. That's not possible!

Service was a bit “reserved”. White sausages were good for that. Nice location, even in bad weather (see pictures)

The restaurant was very busy when we visited. The food and service were excellent, the prices were absolutely fair and reasonable. Great ambience, like in Bavaria, and a great view over the adjacent cathedral square towards the Petersberg Citadel. We will visit the restaurant again next time we are in town...

As Erfurt residents, we have eaten here several times and so far everything has been ok. Today we had a Braumeister goulash with a dumpling. Arranged on the plate like in a mass production. The taste, there was none. We didn't touch the salad that came with it because the salad was old. It's a shame to be so disappointed. Everything has been great so far.

We were guests yesterday and were served very, very, very rudely because we thought the restaurant was making some progress and expected a card behind the QR code at the table! Never been bumped like this trying to scan a QR code! In the end there wasn't even a bye. 👍

Great food and great service, gladly again

The four of us wanted to eat something on Friday and sat outside. After placing our order relatively quickly and getting our drinks after ¼ hour, we waited a whopping 2 hours for our food (3 dishes). When we asked if we had been forgotten, we were told that there were still many ahead of us on the waiting list and that the meal would take more time, whereupon we canceled the meal and paid. Of course you can see that there is a major event at the cathedral and it takes longer and the catering industry doesn't have it easy. However, you know for months in advance when events of this magnitude take place and you could try to plan better and a good waiter (we still tipped for the drinks) should say when ordering that the food could take longer.

The roulade with dumpling was a poem and a culinary delight 👍

Waited an hour for food. Obatzer was warm. Sausage salad too. Beer was good, but better go somewhere else. Or if you want Bavarian food, drive a few kilometers further to Bavaria.

Nobody has ever experienced anything like that. We are trained chefs and we were served a knuckle and a duck. Both could only be cut from the bone. You could actually pull on the bone and the meat falls off tenderly. The waitress dismissed a complaint. Your comment = everyone eats it like that. The dirty leather pants also say a lot about the place

We had dinner here with a larger group of around 25 people. The reservation was easy, even at short notice the day before. Very nice atmosphere. We had a room in the basement just for ourselves. Delicious meals. The service staff was very friendly - but they were so busy that they were rarely able to visit us. We would certainly have ordered one or two more drinks ;-) Otherwise everything was good. We'd love to come back!

The store leaves nothing to be desired! Personally, the service was the best I've had in a long time. Food also top class. Doreen serves with head, heart and, above all, humor.

Doreen is simply a treasure on earth (tip well!!), I haven't been pampered like this in a long time and have found a place that I will tell my grandchildren about.

Doreen is the angel you need for every good evening, she serves with heart and especially with humor, she is the coolest waitress I have ever experienced. Best shop in Erfurt to spend a relaxed evening. Kind regards to Doreen <3

Unfortunately very disappointed - 1. Waited 40 minutes for the food even though there wasn't much going on and 2. the food didn't work at all. The liver dumpling soup was cold and in terms of taste, well, and the Swiss sausage salad, I really like it and it's really not difficult to prepare... whole thin slices of sausage put on the plate, a little cheese grated over it, vinegar and oil poured over it, onion rings on top of that and for almost €12….outrageous. Nobody sees me here anymore and no further recommendation from me....

Schnitzel 5 by 5 centimeters in size and it wasn't cooked through! €11.50 for that. Cheeky

Spaetzle as a side dish was not good. The rest was delicious and well done. The tartare was well prepared and tasted great.

We wanted to have a drink with 10 people. But it was too much effort for the waitress to wipe off the wet seating. It would rain again soon anyway. I have rarely been treated so unkindly. Service 6-

Ambience typical as expected. Service friendly. The food was mixed: Burger was very good, Spundekäs was more like obsdzda, schnitzel was dry, duck was at maximum canteen level. Pity about the duckling.

One star is still too many. The worst sausage salad I've ever had.
