Hoa Lan in Berlin

The ambience, the friendly and courteous service convinced me in the most pleasant way to go there again and enjoy the food. Thumbs up for the restaurant. I ate chicken as a starter and then crispy duck with crocus sauce No. 37 and then the corresponding letter for crispy chicken or duck or other choices.

Review for Hoa Lan I recently visited Hoa Lan and unfortunately had a mixed experience. The ambience is really nice - the furnishings are stylish and invite you to linger. Unfortunately, the service couldn't keep up with that at all. The service was extremely unfriendly, inattentive and seemed annoyed, which made the stay quite unpleasant. The food was OK but nothing special. The taste of the dishes was okay, but not outstanding. For the price I would have expected a little more.

We were there some time ago. The floor and tables were sticky, the smell took some getting used to for us (not a good deduction). Somehow you're sitting 'in the passage' - it's not comfortable for us in there. Food mediocre and too expensive. We know much better Vietnamese/Asian food. It's a shame, we had hoped for more - based on all the positive experiences.

Unfortunately a very bad visit to this restaurant recommended by several people. On the one hand, it was packed and restless, the assigned seats were rather awkward due to their location in the middle of the room, but that's how it is sometimes, especially on Saturday evenings. There were three waiters who were (apparently) responsible for the non-alcoholic drinks at the same time and were therefore completely overwhelmed. We ordered a starter, two main courses and two drinks. After 45 minutes the drinks hadn't even come and we asked, we were told that the waitress had forgotten to give the drink. Not the first time, as stated in a previous review. So we ordered again and after another 5 minutes the wrong drinks arrived in the wrong size. It took a total of about 90 (!!) minutes for the starters and main courses to arrive at the same time... The food was good and reasonable value for money, but not outstanding. We were not given a waiver for the faulty drinks, for example, even though every waiter knew that we had an unpleasant visit (they probably apologized briefly three times). I'll probably test it again on another day, but I would strongly advise against Saturday evenings.

I've known the restaurant for so many years, we finally went there yesterday. Despite the full house, we were seated straight away and we didn't have to wait long to order. The food tasted fantastic, we are big lovers of baked duck! We'd be happy to come back at any time, why weren't we there earlier? 👍🏻🧡

The best Pho Bo I have ever eaten

We had reserved a table. We were served very well and quickly. Although it was very crowded, it was very cozy and the ambience was pleasant. The food was very good, we saw the lemongrass and the ingredients in the soups were plentiful, the homemade soda lemonades are also highly recommended. Really great value for money, nice service. We would love to come back and will recommend the restaurant. Thank you for the pleasant evening

Food very good. Value for money is great! However, it could look a little more inviting from the outside. It would also be nice if you could pay by card. (But it may be that it was just not possible at short notice at the time of our visit.)

I would like to give 0 stars for the impudence, but unfortunately that's not possible. Why I give 1 star. Short and painless, we just arrived and there wasn't really much going on. We even arrived earlier than other tables and placed our orders earlier than the tables that came after us. Still I waited for 1 hour and no food came, I complained twice but even then no food came and no apology or other excuses. The great waiter forgot to order my food, which is how I know I can speak the same language (Vietnamese). After 80 minutes with no new information, no apology, no compensation, I left really hungry and angry, simply speechless.

Large portions and I was surprised at how delicious and authentic it tasted. There is also a lunch menu starting at €9.90 for a starter and main course. Price performance top 👍🏾

If you would like to eat good, large portions in a spacious, bright, clean Vietnamese restaurant with friendly staff, this is the right place!!! Forever old family business in the 3rd generation feels like it's here at Hoa Lan!!!

Asian stressful. But good food. With waiting time. About expensive. But it was my daughter’s favorite. That's why I'm there often. But the real rip-off? Being there often doesn't matter a bit. Don't forget anything here. I forgot my hat before the pandemic. I called. Mutze was there. But lockdown. After the lockdown, the hat was no longer there. All explanations didn't matter. I said but I called. And you said it's there. Describe exactly. But after the lockdown, I was still met with great surprise and confusion about it. The big mystery.

Always happy, tasty, fresh and, in terms of perception, quite large portions... In my opinion, the ventilation of the guest room was inadequate in the past... That has changed...

I've eaten better Vietnamese food. Duck wasn't fried exactly right. Almost still raw.

The menu has quite a big selection with appetizers, pho, rice dishes, soups and sushi. Portions are big compared to others and enough to feel satiated, prices good. Popular so you can wait a little but you can also reserve. Definitely recommend.

The only flaw. You cannot pay by card, only cash.

Restaurant Hoa Lan on the corner of Baumschulenweg and Kiefholzstraße (in the Treptow district) I discovered this restaurant by chance and wanted to try it out at some point. When the opportunity arose, my partner, a friend and I stopped there. I speak for all three of us: The atmosphere has its Vietnamese charm, is cozy and clean. The prices are "moderate" - the food is served beautifully arranged and you'll be full. Last time we came here with my parents and our teenager - they were also thrilled. Conclusion: For all of us, despite the further journey, this is our current favorite restaurant when it comes to Vietnamese cuisine. The only disadvantage: you can only pay in cash there - a shame!

I don't often give 5*. Everything is right here! Super deliciously spiced starter soups and the red coconut milk curry dish with ganels was large and delicious - the prawns themselves were not bland, but marinated in garlic. Prices cheap. Great, come back!

Whenever we are in Baumschulenweg, it is a special pleasure for us to stay there or take food with us. There is a day ticket until 4 p.m. Great prices including soup or salad. The portions are therefore not smaller and the staff is very friendly!

Arrived shortly before the kitchen closed, the staff was super friendly. Everyone got a delicious meal and waited patiently until we were finished. Plum schnapps served with a moderate bill afterwards. Conclusion: delicious food, friendly service and fair prices. We'll be back.

Yes, I used to enjoy eating there because the food was very tasty. Now today I'm no longer allowed to eat there because you're rejected there if you have twins. You don't want that in your house. Without words, how anti-children you must be. Sad 😡

This was the second time in 6 months that we picked up something to eat. There were 3 people working in the service and 3 in the kitchen. Unfortunately, we were treated quite unfriendly, even though there were only a few tables occupied in the restaurant. The food was anything but good. We had ordered a red curry with chicken and glutamate, which was mixed in as a flavor enhancer, could be tasted straight away. This gave me an allergic reaction and I unfortunately had to throw it away after three bites in a very angry manner. The few vegetables included a piece of potato that had been cooked at least 2 days ago, which firstly didn't belong in a curry at all and secondly just tasted disgusting. The meat was fried on top and was bone dry. Since it was more than disappointing for the second time, we will definitely not be coming here again. Something like that is just annoying!

Absolute impudence, ordered food and was there at the agreed time. Nobody in the kitchen and you have to wait at least 20 minutes. Then the waiter becomes unfriendly, that was definitely the last time...

Not recommended for allergy sufferers, vegans or vegetarians!! People don't know what's in their sauces. Unfortunately, there has been no development in this regard for about 10 years, because that's how long I've been coming here. Unfortunately, thanks to the unfriendly staff and service, Hoa Lan has lost another loyal customer base for over years. This poor service has been noticeable for about a year now. Just since two newbies joined us (a waiter and a waitress). New employees throw packaging boxes on our table with the exclamation: “This is how you pack it yourself”. When asked what this impudence is about, they justify themselves with a total lack of understanding and defensively, saying that there is probably “too much going on” (that should be the case). You definitely shouldn't let the customer feel this way) Furthermore, customer requests are largely overlooked and or only fulfilled with a smile. Recently we were not allowed to sit at our desired seat, which on the one hand would have been unobstructed and on the other hand, and much more importantly, had not been reserved. Even the number of people met the number of seats if you shot it that way. This should not have interfered with our desire to sit there. STILL the waiter had a problem with it and ordered us to change to a seat further forward (just as unreserved, same number of seats as our desired table) without saying “please” or “thank you”. In itself it wouldn't be that big of a problem, but the seat we were holed up in was completely inaccessible due to the obstacles around it. (Especially: Why don't you let the customer sit where he wants? If all the seats are occupied, what's the problem? Is the outdoor seat only for premium customers? And at what point do you become one? - For example, if you're over 10 years old is a regular customer: we haven't heard much about it since then) In any case, this action made us so upset that we lost our appetite because we ended up being moved to the same table, just further forward, in an inconvenient position and in a disrespectful way too. Ultimately, as customers, we can't help it that certain tables are displayed without signs. Last but not least, we spoke to the “nice” gentlemen, which was the reason for us to sit somewhere else.. and the answer, as expected from the waiter in particular, was very abusive and unaccommodating. The waiter became loud, interrupted us the whole time and, as always, showed no insight. It went from a small complaint that could have ended with "Yeah, no problem, it won't happen again" to an argument that ended with "We'll never eat here again." I don't really understand how, after all the complaints about certain staff, you don't just replace the staff with friendlier staff. The customer is king, which the current staff absolutely cannot understand. For this reason you feel anything but welcome. It's a shame about the chefs' masterful work and our relationship with Hoa Lan.

Perfect choice for a drop in dinner after a long walk along Spree. Great coconut soup recommendation and did the right choice with rolls and noodles, wanted to eat more but couldn't. And by the way Tiger on draft! A bit loud room, but the food is worth it.

I expect to see more dishes with fish. Instead of fish, there's a shrimp option. Probably it’s difficult to get decent fish in Berlin. Additionally, they do not accept cards, which is quite inconvenient.

We actually really enjoyed coming here. Unfortunately the service has changed. The waiting times have become incredibly long. On our last visit we only wanted to order 2 wontons (starters). After we placed our order, we left after waiting over 35 minutes. Other guests who came later than us had their entire MENU quicker. It wasn't the first time we had to wait a long time! Not again!!!!

Overall great experience. Accessible for people with mobility issues thanks to a small ramp. The place looks lovely and the staff is kind. The menu offers a big variety of asian foods, with a big selection of sushi included. We had a vegetarian spring roll as an appetizer to share, I had sushi and my wife had vegetarian fried rice with tofu. The food was plentiful and overall very tasty. We also had two ginger iced tea mocktails for drinks, but there was a "chemical" aftertaste, like some kind of perfumed syrup, that was a bit too strong for our taste - we couldn't really finish them. Everything else was gold though and we will come back to try more dishes in the future. Important: payment with cash only. Luckily there is a Sparkasse nearby if you need for it. A bit annoying, but it happens alot in Berlin...

Authentic Vietnamese cuisine is served here. The service staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is harmonious. We found the drinks particularly tasty. We would definitely like to come back and will definitely try the sushi.

The food is good. What's annoying is that customers who order from outside are given priority, which makes the waiting time in the restaurant annoyingly long. In this case, a note that the food may take longer to prepare would make things more bearable.

The service here is really bad. We were there with two small children and our food was brought separately, so our children were finished before we even had our food. The kids then wanted to leave and a nice meal together was out of the question. Savings are also being made in the wrong place. There was far too little rice with my meal. I didn't even want to reorder because it would have taken forever. When paying, the waiter didn't give any change, he wanted to take everything straight away as a tip. When we asked for the change, he almost got soggy and just threw it on the table. No farewell. It's a real shame, it seems like they don't need to be nice to their customers.

The restaurant used to be really good. Since the restaurant has become very popular, I can only advise against it. The food is still tasty, but the employees have become extremely unfriendly. If you pick up food, you won't even get your change back and when you ask, the price of the food will be completely different than what's on the menu. It's really extremely bold and outrageous. The wrong food has been prepared countless times and they insist that you eat it anyway.

We tried Hoa Lan because of the good reviews and a personal recommendation. Unfortunately there were only seats available at the back of the restaurant, but that is where the show kitchen and the path to the toilets are. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. The prices are ok so far, two people main course and drinks 28.30 euros. Gladly again.

As always, my food was delicious. I love the peanut sauce there! The cocktails are really great too. I can only recommend the restaurant! However, one thing had to be decided. My daughter's flat rice noodles were extremely salty. But that can happen sometimes.

Food is okay, although overpriced for the area, with Berlin Mitte prices (this is because there are no alternatives nearby). The staff behaves exactly the same way, according to the motto: people will always come anyway. Long waiting times on weekends. And what we disliked most as a group: There's no music playing. And the whole thing has a vibe like a market with an open kitchen. Again, pretty high prices for the whole package.
