In my opinion, there's only one thing to say: highly recommended in every respect. We eat there or pick up food there often.

Decent Asian restaurant with a slim menu that caters to every taste.

Etwas außerhalb Forchheims gelegen und auch gut versteckt in einer Bürogegend, befindet sich dieses Restaurant. Der Gastgarten entspricht genau der Umgebung und ist eher einer Kantine zugeordnet. Trotzdem wurden wir freundlichst und aufmerksam bedient und konnten sehr lecker zubreitete Sushi Variantionen bestellen und genießen. Geschmacklich so ausgefeilt, dass sogar die Sojasoße entbehrlich gewesen wäre! Sehr gut! Die Portionen sehr angenehm, fair bepreist und in Summe war das ein toller Abend bei einem Top Japaner. Wir kommen sicher wieder!

This restaurant is located just outside of Forchheim, well hidden in an office district. The outdoor seating area is in keeping with the surroundings and feels more like a cafeteria. Nevertheless, we received friendly and attentive service and were able to order and enjoy deliciously prepared sushi variations. The flavors were so sophisticated that even the soy sauce could have been dispensed with! Very good! The portions were very generous, the prices were fair, and overall, it was a great evening at a top-notch Japanese restaurant. We'll definitely be back!

I picked up sushi, it was simply inedible... the duck meat was simply old and impossible to chew... the fried sushi only tasted like fat, just a disappointment.. Edamame was old, overcooked, just not recommended.. all in all. tasteless, not fresh and greasy

Es wird mit glutenfreien Optionen geworben. D.h. es gibt gf Sojasoße. Wenn die Bedienung einen versteht, dann kann auch das Sushi gf zubereitet werden. Allerdings nicht für Zöliakie Betroffene geeignet, da nicht auf Kontamination geachtet werden kann.

No matter whether Fürth, Erlangen or Forchheim - the food is and remains the sushi reference. Service very attentive and friendly.

You can also get a spot spontaneously. Special requests are catered for very well, so a visit here is always a pleasure. In terms of price, we are in the upper segment here. But price-performance is within a good range. We always enjoy being there again.

It really is the very best sushi, but we've known the place for years: The size of the sushi pieces has halved, which is a real shame, and the prices have also gone up - either/or would have been a better solution. This is especially noticeable with momo and nogami.

The food here is always delicious. They offer a wide variety of sushi, hot and cold appetizers. A large selection of homemade drinks with various juice components invites you to relax in the sun. Your food arrives quickly, and the service is friendly. All in all, a lovely place for delicious food.

The two of us had just eaten and although there was enough space in the restaurant, we had to wait a long time. Even the man who came after us to pick up his food was served faster. The drinks were okay, but unfortunately the food was not at all. The bowls were disappointing - the chicken was tough and quite cold, and overall the taste was anything but harmonious. The tuna bowl in particular was a bad combination. In addition, the soup was served at the same time as the main course. When we were asked for our opinion, we answered honestly, but unfortunately there was no reaction from the waitress - on the contrary, she became even less friendly. We waited more than 10 minutes for the bill, even though there were hardly any guests there, and it only came after a second request. Overall we were unfortunately very dissatisfied. Also, we both felt a little sick after eating. Sushi to pick up has always been great, but we can't recommend eating there.

Edit: I've been in contact with Hiro Sakao's team and they've been really accommodating. You really have to give 5 stars for customer service! I will visit the restaurant again in the future and hope I have a better experience this time. Unfortunately a huge disappointment on Valentine's Day :( You look forward to a nice evening and are bitterly disappointed. We had made a reservation for 7 p.m., there were already a lot of guests in the restaurant itself and we were seated at a table for two. The tables were a maximum of 3 cm away from the neighboring tables, so that you could and had to hear every word the others said. Yes, all couples want to go out to dinner on Valentine's Day, but then I would prefer to take out 1-2 tables and create a cozy atmosphere. It took a whole hour for our starter to arrive. At least it was delicious and fresh. It was another hour before the main course was on our table - so we had to wait 2 hours for our food. Here too: Yes, on Valentine's Day everyone wants to go out to eat and everyone wants to pick up something. But you can take this into account beforehand and every reservation and every food order also has a limit. When this has been reached (= capacities are completely exhausted), then it is best not to accept any more. In addition, the sushi really didn't taste good anymore. The fried things were soggy and soggy that they were almost impossible to eat. Some of the rice on the outside of the sushi was a bit dried out. But if you didn't want to spend another two hours here, it was hard to ask if they were making the sushi again. After 5 minutes, we both didn't feel like eating anymore, had to pay a whopping €75 for a really bad evening and went over to McDonald's to at least get some ice cream. However, the service was friendly, even if it was very busy.

I've known the place for... 15 (?) years, when the first boss (Lilly?) opened the shop (Fürth, Erlangen, then Forchheim). For years, a visit to Hiro Sakao has been mandatory when visiting Erlangen. Always good and I always enjoy going there.

Spent a belated Valentine's Day there :) Received some Ramontic table decorations upon prior request☺️👌🏿 The two of you sit a little close to another table for two. We still felt comfortable :) Food was very good, but we found a better selection for vegetarians in Erlangen :) It was a nice evening :)!

It could have been a lovely Valentine's Day with my wife if we hadn't made a reservation at Hiro Sakao at 7:30pm! It was my first visit to this restaurant (I've wanted to visit for a long time and finally worked out) but it was most definitely my last visit! The first impression was slightly disturbing as an estimated 20 people were already standing in a queue in the stairwell when entering the restaurant, apparently waiting for take-away food. After a short wait, we were led by a nice lady to our seat in the far corner in a not very attractive side room of the completely overcrowded restaurant. Everything is good up to this point. Now we studied the very appealing dishes on the menu and thought about what we wanted to eat... The time passed by now about 15-20 minutes. At the table to our left a waiter came and brought the starter (as it later turned out after 1.5 hours) and disappeared again without looking left or right. At the table to the right of us there was also a desperate, nice couple with whom we started talking. This couple was just leaving the restaurant after a waiter hadn't even contacted them for drinks after waiting for over 30 minutes. They then probably wanted to go to the restaurant with the golden “M” out of sheer desperation and displeasure. In any case, about 5 minutes after they left, their table was reoccupied. It followed the same pattern for us... we decided to leave the store after about 40 minutes after no one from the staff had taken care of us. Too bad! Unfortunately we would have imagined something different! The great horror came when we left the premises into the stairwell, where the queue of people who wanted to pick up their food had expanded to an estimated 50. Simply unbelievable! If you are already completely overwhelmed and can no longer control the people in the restaurant, maybe you shouldn't sell hundreds of meals across the street! My conclusion - pure money machine! In my opinion, there is no question of quality here! Neither in the service nor in the ambience. Unfortunately I can't comment on the food and drinks - after 40 minutes I had neither one nor the other! Never again! Not even worth a star!

We had made a reservation in time for 3 people today at 8 p.m. It's my best friend's birthday and we had to wait from 8:40 p.m. to 10:05 p.m. for our order, and then the food was cold. Never again Hiro Sakao. Disappointed!

Unfortunately the portions are too small and don't match the price. We waited 70 minutes for our order. The duck was undercooked and tough, like a leather shoe. No privacy and too loud. Sorry, but unfortunately not recommended.

Best sushi restaurant in Forchheim and the surrounding area. Always high quality, high standards and delicious Asian and Japanese food. Some also have fusion cuisine. Sushi and Bento Box are the most recommended. Unfortunately, the miso soup is often too salty. In terms of taste, the sushi comes closest to the original Japanese one. Price performance is reasonable, especially at lunchtime there is a very good offer, in the evening the prices are higher but are justified by the high quality of the ingredients. A big recommendation!

I went there for dinner with my son for his birthday. I paid just under €90 for two meals, which was ok for me. The food was very tasty, but I have never experienced anything so unfriendly from the staff, such an arrogant waiter, the food was simply thrown down without who owned it or had a good appetite, my child wanted a dessert but he wasn't interested in that at all, even that was wrapped up He had forgotten food and then left it in front of me in a totally annoyed manner. I know that this place doesn't need it because it's always full, but I've NEVER received such bad and condescending service.

Actually, every visit begins with a wait in the entrance or the next room because the reservation was not entered again... Although the sushi is freshly made, it often feels dry, which is probably due to the rice that takes up the lion's share of the roll. Unfortunately, the service is often overwhelmed and stressful.

It's always very loud and the service isn't really attentive. Reservations often didn't work and orders were often incorrectly recorded. The sushi is okay, but the sushi rolls consist of more rice than anything else (the fillings, especially salmon and tuna, are saved a lot) and often feel very dry in the mouth... I can't recommend this restaurant if you want to eat good sushi.

Very quiet location, the outdoor area is simple, the food is incredibly tasty, the price is a bit higher, but this is reflected in the quality of the dishes. Ich würde null Sterne geben wenn es möglich wäre. Wir wollten dort Mittagessen haben vorher extra gegoogelt und gesehen, dass bis 14.30 Uhr auf ist. Wir waren um Punkt 14 Uhr da und gleich vom ersten Moment hat man gemerkt dass der Kellner keine Lust hatte. Zuerst schlug er vor wir sollen doch zum Mitnehmen bestellen, als wir dann gesagt haben wir sind schnell und wissen ohnehin schon was wir wollen (da wir die zwei Restaurants in Erlangen fast wöchentlich besuchen oder dort bestellen) wirkte der Kellner extrem genervt und sagte sie wollten alle gleich weg. Als wir uns draußen an den Tisch setzten knallte er dann sprichwörtlich die Speisekarten auf den Tisch, ging weg und kam zwei Sekunden später und sagte uns nochmals dass wir uns doch beeilen sollen weil sie alle gleich gehen wollen. Daraufhin sind wir dann aufgestanden und gegangen weil diese Behandlung absolut unangemessen ist. Beim aufstehen und gehen sagte dann auch der Herr am Nebentisch zu uns dass er sich auch schon auf die Zunge beißen musste weil der Kellner ihm gegenüber auch äußerst unfreundlich war. Super Restaurants in Erlangen - aber Forchheim definitiv nie wieder.

Wir gehen regelmäßig hierher und sind immer zufrieden. Reservierung ist empfohlen. Wir wurden nur einmal etwas enttäuscht, da das Auge bekanntlich ja mit isst und der Teller nicht wie gewohnt dekoriert war. Dies hält uns nicht ab, auch erneut wieder das Restaurant zu besuchen.

When we entered the building on July 4th, 2024, an employee came towards us. We greeted them, but we received no response. This employee opened the door just a small crack, just enough for her to get through. I don't expect the door to be held open for me, but it would have been polite to swing the door open generously. An annoyed look from the waiter who was supposed to assign us a table reinforced the bad first impression. His generally dismissive behavior did not contribute to a pleasant atmosphere. A friendly welcome is essential in the catering industry to make guests feel welcome. The waiter took our order without any problems. The food also arrived quickly. However, I received the wrong dish. This in itself isn't a big problem, but the way this situation was handled was extremely unprofessional. I had ordered Katsu Curry #489 and mentioned both the name and number of the dish. However, the waiter accused me of ordering the dish incorrectly, showed noticeable irritation and asked if I still wanted to accept the food that was brought to me. I was speechless. As someone who has worked part-time in the restaurant industry for years, I know that dealing with situations like this is crucial. Instead of blaming the guest, as a waiter you should remain polite and say that you have understood dish XY and are happy to correct it. Dealing professionally means correcting the error and giving the guest the feeling that their concerns are being taken seriously. The sushi we ordered was poorly rolled and fell apart when we picked it up. In addition, they charged one euro for the to-go box in which I wanted to take my leftovers with me. Gastronomic etiquette is not only a matter of good manners, but also of professionalism. A friendly welcome, respectful communication and a solution-oriented approach to errors are essential to offer guests a pleasant experience. The quality of the food and the service when taking away leftovers also play an important role. Here the staff would have had the chance to round off the experience positively with small gestures such as a free to-go box.

We have been coming here for many years. The regular waiters Nathan etc. are super nice and funny. We don't have to say anything anymore. We know what we drink and eat. You can always find a funny saying for the children too. The food is a pleasure every time.

Normally I never write reviews but now I'm making an exception, I'm always in Forchheim for work and the first stop is Hiro Sakao, since I'm traveling a long way in Germany and have tried sushi everywhere, this restaurant is the best, great sushi, everything is fresh simply fantastic. I would like to come to Cologne and open a shop there.

We went for dinner with 6 people (my wife's birthday), had a total bill of €235. At home I found out that €0.90 per package had been charged for the food that wasn't made. Afterwards I also read that in the menu, but I don't think it's entirely correct. Why should the customer pay that? Otherwise we were very satisfied.

Kennen das Lokal schon sehr lange und es war auch immer gut. An Silvester haben wir Essen bestellt um es zu Hause zu genießen. Leider war es dieses Mal so schlecht, das wir dort nicht mehr hin gehen. Es war sehr dürftig, Ente und Hühnchen haben trocken und alt geschmeckt. Ein winziger Klecks Wasabi und bei dem Lachs sollte Ingwer mit dabei sein, war es aber nicht. Der Salat lieblos angerichtet und roch auch leider muffig. Da es dort nicht gerade günstig ist, dürfte man doch eine andere Qualität erwarten. Für uns ein No Go!

Collection as always, see photo. -Stands without ginger more wasabi. Arrived home after a tiring day. Unpacked, really happy, what wasn't in it... no wasabi 🥵🥲. I got back in the car 🚗 and back to the Driven to the store. I was given the wasabi and given a verbal voucher of €5 for my next order. Maybe it was my mistake for not checking it first. Subject eaten. What I don't understand is that the prices are being adjusted again for the 2nd or 3rd time. From the end of January. All well and good, I understand the situation in the catering industry. Personally, the prices were already borderline for me given the adjustments made at the time. But unfortunately I'm out now. Still a great shop, with great dishes and very good sushi!

Overall, the new map is very well done. However, in my opinion, there are still too many ready-made products sold in this price range, such as gyozas, where you can get a whole bag for one portion in the Asian market. Sushis were very good! However, the nigiris were a little small, but the rolls were a little bigger. I wouldn't recommend pasta in this price range, but otherwise worth a visit.

Unfortunately we weren't thrilled last night. We ordered a sushi mix platter for two people. There were 2x of the same thing on it and 2x of each with green asparagus. Only fish, no shrimp, no crab meat, no other vegetables. Only raw sushi, no tempura or crunchy rolls. The quality was good, but unfortunately the chef had shown no imagination here. We pointed this out to the waiter and he said that it was the mix plate. At some point he came and asked if we wanted something more to drink. We hesitated at first, then he said he would mix us something nice. We were almost reconciled until the bill came and this drink was also charged. This means we received no concession or discount. Very disappointing unfortunately...
