Hemingways Cocktail Lounge Restaurant Café in Ludwigshafen am Rhein

We've been to Hemingways for years. After 10 p.m. it was no problem ordering food. The menu is plentiful and the food was good. Large selection of cocktails and long drinks. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly service.

The ambience is quaint and cozy, the service is friendly. But the quality of the food was very poor and still very expensive. Cocktails are okay.

Very friendly staff, fresh and delicious food. When the weather is nice you can enjoy the perfect spot by the window. Thanks so much

Delicious food and delicious cocktails

Back after a long time. The cocktails are perfectly fine, and the food is also okay. It's not Michelin-starred, but it's relatively quick. If you like a wide selection, this is the place for you. Unfortunately, it was a bit chilly during our visit, and the door was open the whole time.

We've been to Hemingways 3-4 times now. The food is always good, the service is good and friendly (most of the time). Highly recommended. The atmosphere is loud and crowded! Please make a reservation.

Good Mexican food and solid cocktails.

So to cut a long story short, it was my first time there, the service was nice and polite, I ordered a burrito to take away, I had a direct view of the kitchen when the cook came out with my food he tripped and the box landed on the floor when I said he could make the food again they just said the salsa was broken and the burrito was fine so I walked home safely then I bit into the burrito it tasted old like an old moldy fridge so I beg of you I would give zero stars for such quality.... once and never again.

Unfortunately, our visit to Hemingway’s in Ludwigshafen was a disappointment. The food was completely over-seasoned and didn't taste convincing. The drinks were not prepared correctly and were also undrinkable. In addition, there was unfriendly service that was neither attentive nor helpful. To make matters worse, too much was billed at the end. Overall, absolutely not recommended.

I enjoyed this place a lot, nice atmosphere amid an uneventful town. The food was indeed very good, leaning on Mexican cuisine.

The pumpkin soup was very tasty. At around 10:15 p.m. you can't always find something good to eat in Ludwigshafen... luckily the kitchen in this restaurant was still open...

Super delicious food, great cocktails, discounted again at happy hour. Nice, courteous service. Only downside is the location, it's difficult to find a parking space. But we'd love to come back

The food comes after 1 hour and a lot of things are forgotten... the price of the food is way too expensive and there is little on the plate. Not recommended... it doesn't even deserve 1 star

Food and drinks were okay. Service was also friendly and tried hard, unfortunately there were minor communication problems and therefore a long waiting time. The best times for the ambience are already behind it. Untidy and dusty everywhere.

The restaurant is nice and good atmosphere. Service is good and friendly. We always go there and enjoy evening time totally. Parking is so easy since near the parking building. Walking only 3 minutes.

The food is very tasty. The waitress must have gotten off on the wrong foot. (It was a bit mushy)

Impudence! I ordered a home made ice tea (490ml), the drink comes to the glass with ice cubes up to the edge, realistically there is maybe 50ml of tea in it. That wasn't just with the iced tea but also with a few cocktails, an absolute rip-off, you could at least write that 90% is crushed ice!!!

Unfortunately, Hemmingways is lacking in the areas of quality and service. Given the prices, I would have expected better for both than before. You sometimes wait 15 minutes for a simple cola, and you get food at the table at different times - despite the wait, the first person was already finished when the last person got their food. Nachos were partly soft and there was very little guacamole. Ambience still good.

We waited over an hour for the food. I haven't eaten so badly in a long time. The fries and potato wedges were an oily disaster. Likewise the champions. It had no hint of garlic. Not a single euro was accepted from us.

Food was good, but the basil smash gin cocktail was the best, everything is beautifully served, nice atmosphere.

Unfortunately it wasn't a very successful evening... I can't really confirm all the good reviews. Maybe it was because we were a larger group. The food was already cold, my steak (medium rare) was fried to death and the starter came while I was already eating my main course. The rest of the others' food wasn't convincing either. For almost everyone it was lukewarm rather than hot. The waitress on Friday evening wasn't very nice either, or rather she was annoyed. When asked, she complained slightly. I don't think that's possible at all. That was the first and last visit, as they say in Spanish? Gracias for nothing

Have been to Hemingways a few times. The toilets were clean, which cannot be said about the tables. The absolute no go was getting a cocktail with alcohol despite ordering the same non-alcoholic and then grumbling when exchanging it. This is a no go, just like cracking the wheat jar. The food didn't taste good. My burger was dripping with grease and the bacon wasn't crispy but just laid on top. Too many mistakes for an evening with friends. In any case, the store won't see us again.

My wife and I have been drinking cocktails or eating here for years. The food and cocktails are always good and the staff are always friendly. I can recommend Hemingways without hesitation.

All in all, not a good visit... Staff overwhelmed. Drinks come after the food, food from the seasonal menu is dry and inedible, cocktails are not as they should be... so a kebab shop in Lu has more to offer

We celebrated our anniversary there and it was really nice. The food was delicious, the cocktails too. It's really recommended ;)

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food, but the place got full around 5:30 p.m. So it has to taste... When I came in at 1600 noon it wasn't particularly busy, I think the young waitress was quite overwhelmed, it took some time until we had our drinks. But she did her best, there was no small talk and she couldn't recommend anything.....but I don't blame her for that, but it's better if you want to make sales....It got pretty hectic when that happened The store was full, I think it's also due to the lack of staff. It's quaint, and I think you can linger here...

Ambiance was okay Small funny bar in the heart of ugly Ludwigshafen. Apart from the top location, there wasn't much on offer here. Quite expensive for a bar. Unfortunately the service was not very professional. There was no tap water and the service wasn't very friendly. The order took longer than usual. Small errors were made. Wrong items were delivered to the table. Wouldn't recommend it.

Mexican cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. We were welcomed and served very friendly. The food - burger tacos, tacos with chicken and enchiladas filled with chili com carne - was very tasty 😋. As a starter we had nachos with chili of carne and cheese gratinated. Completely satisfied and full, we enjoyed our delicious cocktails before heading home. The option to reserve online was also practical. We would be happy to come back

Went here spontaneously today. Eating and drinking was super delicious. The service is top notch!! Can only be recommended 👍🏻

The food was consistently delicious, but we had to wait a little longer. Cocktails were also delicious. The staff was mixed, one was friendly and funny and the other made a distant, rather unfriendly impression. It's comfortable to sit in, but it's a little louder. Our conclusion: We will come back because the food impressed us.

We ate there today, the fries were ice cold and were replaced when asked. My chicken was like a sole and had tendons on it. I couldn't eat it at all and had to take it out in a napkin. My friend couldn't eat her chicken either, but she was still charged quite outrageously. Then I wanted to pay for my food, which I couldn't even eat, in cash and couldn't even change €50. I had to pay with a card. They probably don't know customer orientation here. We wanted to speak to the boss, but he was already gone and there was no one equal. It's not about the money, it's about the principle. I've never seen anything like it, it was my first and last time.

Unfortunately I had the bad luck that only one barman or barmaid was working that evening... I waited 30 minutes for my first beer... the second came after the bill (cancellation is not possible... according to GF), had to I'll still hear the theory from the GF ;)- that I drank my first beer too quickly...long live philosophy Sorry 2 stars because of the poor disposition of the management. Otherwise the food and drinks were great.

A very good location in Ludwigshafen

We ended a JGA there... The food was so delicious... The waitresses were super friendly, there was a lot going on due to the football game and yet they tried to work quickly and neatly ☺️

The food was delicious, the staff was nice and the atmosphere was very good. Only the slightly higher price for the portion size (small) isn't quite as nice. I can still recommend going for tapas or something to drink.

Well, nothing special... food was ok. Had fries as a side dish...it was a measly heap...would also have served as decoration. Service was committed, sometimes spoke English and then German again.

Light and shadow! Before Corona, we used to go to Hemingways every now and then. Yesterday we spontaneously went again. We have to wait a long time for the food. It can happen that a wine is no longer in stock, so I chose an alternative. There was nothing wrong with the service, the lady and her trainee were friendly and helpful. My husband had Cordon Bleu. That was fine so far. The cordon bleu was a little dry, that happens, but quick and OK with the sour cream on the side. I ordered the Fajita Especial. When the food finally came, it was swimming in fat and completely unseasoned. The chicken was missing and the strips of beef steak were tough and completely undercooked. After I complained, a new portion arrived. Again it was completely unseasoned, but at least I got salt and pepper with it. This time the jalapeños and cheese mentioned on the menu were also included, as well as another portion of tortillas. The chicken strips were included this time and the food wasn't quite as greasy. Unfortunately, it looked like I had been given the strips of beef steak from the first portion. The meat was so bad again that the poor cow died a second time. I had the waitress try it, but it was probably the only piece that wasn't completely dry. The service also said that the meat was not ok. I was very annoyed and hungry, so I decided not to let the food go back. I was hoping this would be given due to the poor quality of the food. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. But I also have to admit that my husband ate the dish afterwards when I lost my appetite. Overall I was very disappointed and disillusioned, unfortunately.

We had to wait forever for our food. Drinks also took a very long time and it was impossible to order another drink because no one felt responsible for us and some of the employees don't speak German. The asparagus salad was cheeky. There were a few small pieces of asparagus in the salad.

Nice restaurant, you can also sit outside in front of the restaurant in the pedestrian zone, staff friendly, competent and fast. Food delicious. Price/performance ratio good.

Today we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with you with 7 more people, I have to say your concert with the cocktail evening went really well..

Went to the location for a class reunion. Food was good and the service was always nice and quick.

overall a nice place. the food is good and the portions are big for German standards. that being said this restaurant bills itself has serving food with a Tex-Mex bent. but serving a plate of cold industrial sized Doritos-like chips with a tiny helping of what surprisingly tasted like "Pace Picante Sauce" doesn't quite cut it in my book. The main dish however was true to Tex-Mex form, with good flavor, a nice spicy kick and also a good sized portion. The service was prompt and the staff was friendly. I would have gladly given the food 4 stars, but if you're gonna bill yourself as Tex-Mex you're gonna have to do better in the nachos department, but I would definitely go back next time I had a hankering for food with a Tex-Mex bent!

Drinks are watered down, sometimes come with 0.2 bottles and sometimes finished and the waitress doesn't know what she's selling. Mezcal comes with cinnamon in a glass and orange. Complaints impossible because you suddenly no longer speak German. The food was burnt and the service was overwhelmed. First and last visit here

The food as well as the drinks and cocktails are really tasty, but unfortunately, at least when we were there with 6 people and the restaurant was barely full, there were 2 waitresses who were visibly annoyed when you wanted to order something else. The more we ordered and the busier it became, the more our table was visibly avoided. A good 1.5 hours passed before the food was on the table. Despite everything, 4 stars because the rest was convincing.

Tuesday evening is clearly the busiest place in the area. So let's go ahead and eat something. Super friendly people, even if two of the staff were missing, as the (boss?) told me, everything went great. The order came quickly and was very tasty. Homemade nachos that I place in the top 3 I have ever eaten. And you can also pay by card (including credit card). The only waitress who also carried out orders and payments had 2-3 hard-working assistants and they all ran the place together and were always nice, friendly, smiling and took their time.

The Mexican food needs a lot of improvement and wasn't worth the money. The cocktails (happy hour) weren't a burner either. The service was still the best. Overall, “try hard” is probably the most accurate. The location definitely has potential.

Actually a very solid restaurant for Ludwigshafen. Unfortunately, the food still has room for improvement in terms of both taste and presentation. There is no skimping on the quantity, especially with the starters.

A really great restaurant. The service is super nice and patient. It was our first time ever eating Mexican food and we were given good advice. It was all very tasty. Came to the table quickly and hot. It was beautifully prepared, as we all know, the eye eats too, simply good. Only 4 stars because the ambience is not that nice. We expected more Mexican decoration. But you can still feel completely comfortable here. The cocktails are also really well mixed. Price/performance is simply right here. You should reserve a table early, it was busy from 6 p.m. We will be back!

This location is not recommended, you wait hours until you are served and just as long until the food and drinks arrive. You are always put off but nothing happens. Food came, it was only lukewarm, the cheese didn't go to waste, I was missing the sweet potatoes. So all in all a clear minus for this location. That was definitely better.

Das Frühstück war reichhaltig, wir haben nicht alles davon geschafft. Die große Kuchenauswahl konnten wir daher nicht probieren. :-) Das Frühstück war recht klassisch angerichtet, uns fehlte etwas der Pepp und die Tassen Kaffee/Schokokade waren ausgesprochen klein, sonst war alles in Ordnung und der Preis stimmte. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Zum Frühstück am Wochenende voll und recht laut, somit etwas ungemütlich. Vielleicht eher unter der Woche zu empfehlen.

Leckeres Essen, tolles Lokal. Die Preise, gerade für cocktails, sind aber heftig. Dir Anhebung der MwSt von 7 auf 19/ hat man direkt zu Beginn des Jahres gespürt. Daher ein Stern Abzug. Aber ansonsten alles top und sehr zu empfehlen

Essen war sehr lecker, Personal sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich.

Ich bin schon als Jugendliche im Hemingways gewesen und es hat sich nicht viel verändert. Top Essen, Top Service! Wir kamen an einem Freitag Abend recht spät, es war alles belegt und wir hätten eigentlich reservieren sollen. Eine Servicekraft hat uns trotz des Trubels freundlich empfangen und hat sich viel Mühe gegeben im uns zu ermöglichen dort einen Tisch zu bekommen. In der Zeit des Wartens haben wir einen Platz an der Bar bekommen und haben uns dort mit unseren leckeren Getränken schon mal ein wenig unterhalten. Wir werden wieder hin gehen. :-)
