Hax'nhaus in Berlin

Very cozy. Tastes very good. German food

The three of us had dinner at Hax'nhaus last night, we had made a reservation by phone and got a wonderful seat opposite the counter. We had schnitzel with asparagus and roast pork. The schnitzel is super tender and delicious with a crispy breading, the asparagus is really a poem. The roast pork was also nice and tender and tasty with lots of sauce, the dumplings were good, the red cabbage was fantastic. The rustic, cozy atmosphere invites you to linger for a long time with a very good Tegernsee barley juice with very nice background music from the 80s/90s. The service is consistently very friendly and attentive - you can tell that there is a good working atmosphere there. In short, a very successful evening and for us the best restaurant in Berlin with German cuisine!

I've been coming here for a long time. Even when the old workforce was still there. Well the food is delicious and I was actually mostly satisfied. The food was good today too. I just didn't know that I was told where to sit. I've never experienced it here before. I like to choose where I sit. Especially since it wasn't full. Sat right next to the counter. Where you could hear the gossip. I personally found the waitress (brown hair with glasses) very unpleasant! By the way, my companion too. Too bad. Hopefully it will work better next time. As I said, they were otherwise actually satisfied.

We held our class reunion (after 48 years) there. The service was super nice and quick. The food was super tasty 😋 and reasonably priced. The Hax'nhaus is very cozy and always worth a visit. We'll be back

Were there with a larger group and lots of children: • Reservation was not noted even though we called 1 hour in advance. • waited forever for food • Children received their food last • unfriendly staff • Orders were sometimes incorrect and were not corrected until the end • Mashed potatoes were inedible • no changing table

The confirmed online reservation was ignored. If the restaurant cannot cope with this then it should not offer online reservations. Guests were moved to make room for our group. Unpleasant. The boss was so drunk that other guests felt harassed, left and called the police. Extremely loud music. Unpleasant. The staff tried very hard but friendly is different. Eating took a very long time, 1 hour, even though it wasn't full. Food was average good. It was worth a try but we won't be back. It's a shame about the beautiful inn.

We were at the Haxenhaus on May 1st at 5:45 p.m. Music was so loud (concert volume) that you couldn't hold a conversation. After asking to turn down the music, the boss came over to us completely drunk, even fell over while running and touched our grandchild. After asking us not to do this, he started shouting at us, even insulted us and expelled us from the restaurant. Not even 1 star. I have never experienced a boss who appears completely drunk in front of his guests. Impossible behavior. Never recommended again in any way.

Went back for the first time after the reopening and were very satisfied. Delicious food, great beer and very friendly service. We'll be back.

We were looking forward to visiting the Haxnhaus after it reopened... unfortunately we were disappointed. We were 6 men with a hearty hunger... ordered 5 grill plates... after 10 minutes the waitress came and said that unfortunately one plate couldn't have a certain meat, we accepted... after 30 minutes the plates came but not the one on the plate as it says in the menu (and it reads very well) The food was too salty for all 5... told the waitress that and all I got was "THEN THE COOK IS PROBABLY IN LOVE... WITH ME HIHIHI"... OK thanks, that's it... we know the Haxnhaus from the old days, unfortunately the new team can't keep up... sorry first and last time

We were curious to see what has happened in the Haxnhaus since Mirko is no longer the tenant. First impressions were good, we got a seat and the drinks came relatively quickly. However, with the drinks we also ordered our 4 meals. And it took almost exactly 1 hour until they were served to us. That is the first point of criticism. The next thing we noticed was that the pork medallions were extremely small and thin, a maximum of 1cm thick. The röstis weren't enough to fill you up either, even though we ordered from the regular menu and not from the "menu for small appetites". In addition, one of the meals we ordered was completely forgotten, which is why the fourth person had to wait another quarter of an hour. In the end, I and two of my companions left the restaurant hungry, which didn't leave a good impression. The quality of the food was ok. But the new tenant obviously saves on the use of goods and also on staff, who had a lot to do. That's why there are 2 stars for this visit.

Rustic and totally delicious pork knuckles...

We spontaneously went to the Haxnhaus in Alt Tegel on a Saturday afternoon, first three and then five plus a small child (and stroller). We didn't have a reservation and were still given a very friendly welcome. Parking the stroller was no problem. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The food was also excellent, I had the pork medallions, very tasty! They also have asparagus dishes that aren't on the normal menu - they also looked really tasty, of course I took photos ;-) The knuckle should be the standard dish here based on the name and that was also something special - great portion and the meat almost fell off the bone, it was so tender. I got some crust off, mmmm delicious! Especially in the evening it might be difficult here without a reservation, especially if it's too cold for the terrace, like it is currently. But in any case, just try it, you will be helped in a friendly manner. We'll be happy to come back and next time we'll leave room for a Kaiserschmarrn!

The restaurant is very clean, even the toilets. I often used to serve at the restaurant and I have to say that the food tastes much better, the knuckle is not too salty, the meat is nice and tender. Unfortunately there were also a few deficiencies. We had to wait 35-40 minutes for our food, but for quality you need time, which made me excited. The waitress told us all the time that the food was coming, it was here right now and we still had to wait 20 minutes for it and the other bad point was that we paid for it at the night bar table and the waitress came to the table with schnapps, she said "I don't know if you drink this, but here for you" 3 schnapps were gone tilted Can still recommend it

Very nice ladies, nice atmosphere. Unfortunately there is no real feel-good factor for us in the restaurant. There was no music and as it became emptier, you had the feeling that you had to speak more quietly so as not to drown out other guests. Fries were very tasty, salad was also good, but we didn't like the currywurst. Small, just cut at the corners, fresh onions. Eating with my eyes closed, I would have thought I was in the Netherlands and eating a Frikandel special. The mix grill plate was probably tasty, but the bacon was burnt and the mushroom cream sauce tasted like ready-made sauce.

We ate there for the second time yesterday. The food is simply fantastic, the price-performance ratio is absolutely top. The ambience is wonderfully rustic and cozy and the service is simply top class! Warm, friendly, open to contact and very attentive. We would come back at any time and can recommend the Hax'n House without reservation. If you love good, sumptuous, delicious food and like Bavarian cuisine, this is absolutely the right place for you. Keep it up 👍🏻

Basically a really great store, but the service was just unpleasant. Then I'd rather go back to the Tegernseer Tönnchen in Wilmersdorf, everything there is always TOP.

After about 20km of hiking, the right choice. Delicious beer and 2 blood sausages. Gladly again.

The first time to eat pork knuckle at the “new” management with a voucher from Groupon. All 4 of us were thrilled by the great food! Great crust, delicious dumplings, great sauerkraut... it couldn't be better! Management and waitress were super nice, swapping dumplings for potatoes was no problem. No extra sauce for everyone... at no extra charge. It wasn't the last time we were there. The only negative point is the 2 high steps at the entrance, where there is no handrail.

It was lunch today and the knuckle was very tasty. Would love to come back.

We came with 7t + toddler and were warmly welcomed and given an extra room to share. The service was super fast and very nice, even after we had ordered another 2 Kaiserschmarren. She took it with humor. A clear recommendation for anyone who wants to try delicious German cuisine.

It's a shame that the service was completely overwhelmed, perhaps they should work with more staff on a Saturday. Food was forgotten.

Bavarian rustic, good price-performance ratio!

Craziness. I have never eaten such a knuckle with such a crispy crust. Not even in Bavaria, Austria or South Tyrol. And the meat so tender. Super nice service, with Berlin charm. Together with the ambience everything is very authentic. We'll be back!!!

Pleasant and authentic inn with a rustic menu, delicious home cooking and large portions. Centrally located and nice atmosphere. The service could be more motivated and better organized.

The food was quite tasty, but unfortunately caraway was not spared; both sauerkraut, knuckle and fried potatoes were seasoned with it. Changing the supplement costs €2.

Unfortunately for me it wasn't as good as before, with the old owner. The meat was very dry. Potato dumplings from the bag, with my partner. My cheese spaetzle was cheese soup, a shame. No longer our restaurant.:( :(

Was there at Christmas and there was only a very limited selection of food, some of which contained too much salt. In addition, after two hours you were asked to pay because the tables were needed. I didn't find this very nice. There were no vegan dishes. I can't say what it's like outside of Christmas. Outside of Christmas, the menu probably stayed the same as my son was there with someone and sent me photos. Therefore the menu could be improved at Christmas.

It was a spontaneous visit. We didn't really know what we wanted and ended up coming here and didn't regret it. Good selection on the menu, really large, tasty portions and attentive, friendly service. Anything that isn't done will be packed up. We'd love to come back if we get the chance.

So kudos to the service, it was unobtrusive as it should be. There were 10 of us and 8 were happy with the food. There were careless errors in the knuckle, the sauce wasn't famous and the dumplings were watery corpses. But otherwise very good and a lovely evening.

Unfortunately the food was very bad, the service took some getting used to. Food was forgotten or could no longer be ordered. The ambience is therefore not that nice.

Very good after the new hospitality. Particularly worth mentioning are the friendly waitresses. Please keep it up, we'll be back. Käsespätzle is world class.

Great boss, the food is amazing. A must for all Bayern fans and true to the original. The rooms are very comfortable and you can celebrate well with large groups upstairs. The prices are okay, the plates are well filled.

The food (hocks) wasn't very good. Only the knuckle is crispy on top, everything else is fat and wobbly. Sauerkraut too sweet and mushy. The service became rude after saying it didn't taste particularly good. No questions asked if any more drinks were wanted. All in all not recommended. We definitely won't go there again.

Christmas roast goose offer. On the upper floor there is a great table for 5 people. The food was very tasty. U 6 still under construction until 2026. Parking zone 3 hours free if something is free.

Update 12-2024: Red and green cabbage overcooked, the dumplings floury, the goose breast itself okay, the pork baten too. Were hungry, ate up, only informed the waitress when asked. Received a short apology, no other accommodation whatsoever. By the way, people at the neighboring table were also not satisfied with the quality. Too bad. Things were much better under the old management two years ago. Otherwise nice restaurant, nice service. 10-2022: We were absolutely satisfied: service, main courses, side salad, desserts, drinks, location... we would love to come back 🙂

We were there on Saturday at 5:00 p.m., had booked a table and wanted to eat pork knuckle, unfortunately we were told that there was no longer any pork knuckle. It's sad that a restaurant that offers something like this is already empty in the early evening. My girlfriend came to Tegel especially from Lichtenrade. Maybe you should have enough in stock.

We ate goose breast or leg of goose there with 9 people. The food came in installments. The first ones were finished and others didn't have any food yet. Other than that, the brisket/leg was miserable. Kale and red cabbage were a match. I wouldn't go there again and wouldn't recommend it under any circumstances.

The grill plate as the main course was delicious. You should avoid Kaiserschmarrn as a dessert. Unfortunately it has been exposed to heat for too long and is therefore too hard and dry.

After a Christmas shopping trip we got hungry and spontaneously decided on the Hax`nhaus and we were lucky. The service was simply uncomplicated and nice, despite not having a reservation we were assigned a table. The food was very tasty and sauce was provided without hesitation. A really successful evening. Delicious and crispy knuckle, change of side dishes without any problems, delicious beer and super nice staff. We'll definitely come back.

Were there with 8 people. Service staff seemed annoyed. The wrong drinks and wrong food came several times. We then had to move to another table where we could only sit squashed together.

Rustic Great knuckle and veal schnitzel

We always eat there when I'm in Norway (about 4 times a year), the pizza 🍕 is just too delicious. 😋

Apart from the fact that they forgot our table reservation and we had to sit in a very awkward position, unfortunately the goose wasn't tasty either. You almost chewed yourself to death. We'd rather go somewhere else in the future.

I had already pre-booked a specific table for four people at 6 p.m. in the summer at St. Martin's Day. As a precaution, I called again the evening before and everything was confirmed. When we arrived at 5:45 p.m., our table was taken and we were placed in a room where a loud company party was taking place. We couldn't talk at all. Not even a small one A drink or something similar was offered to make up for it. The goose leg was rock hard, the kale was tasteless and looked like mashed broccoli and cauliflower. Additionally, the dish cost €3 more than what we were told on the phone. We've been coming for many years, but that's it for us.

We had dinner here today with seven people and were overall very satisfied. Everyone enjoyed it, the dishes were fresh and tasty. The waiting time for the food was around 40 minutes, which wasn't a problem given the good quality and the cozy atmosphere. The furnishings are a bit old, but they exude a certain charm that fits the style of the restaurant. Conclusion: A pleasant restaurant that we can happily recommend. We'll definitely be back!

Hearty food in a rustic atmosphere. The service is great and puts a lot of effort into it. Food could be a little warmer, otherwise everything was great.

A totally dirty evening. We had booked a table especially for today. It's a special day and everyone was really looking forward to the evening and the St. Martin's goose. We were there at 7 p.m. and ordered. We waited until 8:45 p.m. and then we were told that there were no more goose and that we could choose something else. So with a small child I waited over 90 minutes for nothing. I have no idea how something like this could happen in a restaurant. We won't be seen there anymore.

Unfortunately, we were not granted a cozy pre-Christmas dinner evening due to unfriendly and unorganized service. For 9 people we waited almost half an hour for drinks. Our food requests were immediately taken into account along with the desired drinks that were distributed. When the food arrived, one or two glasses were already empty, no one asked if anyone else would like something to drink... when asked, there was only one comment: "I thought my colleague took care of it. The food was quite tasty. .. Orders were mixed up, instead of a veal schnitzel there was a pork schnitzel... well... the dessert, however, was the crowning glory... the Peach Melber ice cream sundae turned out to be more of a milkshake... when the waitress was pointed out, she was more in a discussion mood and took the ice cream back very briskly. Drinks have never been asked again since the food was distributed, let alone the plates being cleared from the table in between. Service looks different... the boss was informed and wasn't very shocked... There will be no further visits after this experience.

Actually good atmosphere with delicious main dishes. Unfortunately the dessert "ice cream" was liquid and not edible. Miserable service!!! The waitress was impatient and irritable. Very unfriendly! We waited forever for service. Always have to make inquiries. I have never experienced such behavior from a waitress. She was downright verbally aggressive. It's a shame, we wanted to have a nice evening, eat a lot, drink a lot and spend money. We then canceled it promptly due to the poor service. It's a shame that such poor service can ruin your evening.

The food was okay, but the service was very bad, bad-tempered and unfriendly. You weren't asked if you wanted something else to drink. You weren't asked if you wanted dessert. . All in all, I can't recommend it and wouldn't go there again.

There is a really good knuckle here. We had a reservation and I was looking forward to the knuckle. When I looked at the menu, my mouth started watering at other dishes. I was thrilled with the knuckle, it has a really crispy crust and the inside is nice and juicy and tender. The sauerkraut is perfectly seasoned and a great sauce (there could be a little more). The dumplings... well, just like sensible dumplings are. Of course it's the wrong place for vegetarians and you should also be a good eater as the portions are generous. Add a beer or two and everyone should be happy. In any case, I won't come back just once (after all, I also want to try a few other things)

The food was, as usual, very good. We didn't sit well. Our table was directly opposite the counter. It wasn't comfortable sitting as it was very cramped and also very uncomfortable. We'll be back, but will point out when making the reservation that we can get a better table.

It was very loud, children were constantly running back and forth, long waiting times, drinks were forgotten, the mashed potatoes were lukewarm, Kaiserschmarrn without raisins, applesauce or plum jam (was out!) Never again! Make a reservation in time for 10 people and be seated at a table that is just enough for 8. We have to get a chair ourselves so everyone can sit. After 20 minutes we received the cards and were asked for drinks. 10 minutes later the drinks were asked again because they were forgotten on the way to the bar... First announcement when ordering food - Haxe is out - in the Haxenhaus! After 45 minutes the soup came... Food came sometime after 1 hour 15 - unfortunately there was no cutlery at the table. It had to be announced first and was acknowledged with jaja. There was no bread with the salads, instead of fried potatoes fries were brought, which were then delivered, but with an expression on the waiter's face... Questions about drinks - none, we had to specifically ask! I haven't experienced something so overwhelmed and unfriendly in a long time! We wanted to pay, but no one came, despite an announcement at the bar. The guests had to go to the front of the counter to pay. The last person at the table also had something incorrectly booked on the bill that no one at the table had. It was canceled, but only after several people announced it. It's a shame, we were happy that the Haxenhaus is open again, but no one will see us or our friends here again!

The food there was very, very tasty. I have to say it's great value for money and the portions are wonderful! The service was friendly & accommodating. We'd love to come back and enjoy!!! 😊😎
