Valet-Parking. Ein großer Außenpool. Alle Angestellten freundlich und bemüht. Manche nur Englischsprachig. Viele Kinder. Silbernes Besteck. Keine Seifenschale im Bad. Kein Schuhanzieher.

Weitere Kritikpunkte: Es gab keinen Welcome Drink, was man in einem Fünf-Sterne-Hotel eigentlich erwarten würde.

The Grand Hotel Heiligendamm is a truly exceptional wedding venue. Its historic seaside architecture, elegant furnishings, and proximity to the Baltic Sea create a breathtaking backdrop for unforgettable ceremonies. As a photographer, I've had the pleasure of photographing several weddings here and am always captivated by the unique atmosphere: the expansive beach, the magnificent facade, and the light-filled rooms of the hotel offer countless opportunities for stylish and natural wedding photos. My worst suite experience ever in a 5-star hotel!!! We had planned an 8-night stay at the beginning of January 2026, but left after the second night. Why? Our first impression of the hotel's so-called best and most expensive suite, the Tower Suite, was so disastrous that we never recovered. The pictures speak volumes! -Old, damaged desk pad -Worn bathroom mat -Torn blind chain -Cobwebs and dust everywhere -Damaged curtain/blind hardware -Chipped/worn furniture/metal edges -Carpet covered in stains -Torred curtains -Defective safe -Stained sofa -Heating broken during a snowstorm -Beds poorly made on Sunday Since the heating in the tower didn't work, we froze bitterly the first night. On Saturday, they started cleaning and repairs, which practically ruined our stay for that day. A walk along the beach was impossible because we couldn't reach the bridge. The spa was unreachable by phone or email the week before our arrival! Clearly, they weren't interested. On Sunday, we discovered they couldn't even make the beds properly, and that was the last straw. Of course, we still had to pay for everything, over €1,100 per night for such a disastrous service. The only goodwill gesture they offered was to waive the cancellation fee for our early departure. Bravo! They promised the hotel manager would get back to us. He never did! Not even after my subsequent written complaint. So, for us, it was a truly unique experience that we will certainly never book again! Simply pathetic!

Anyone looking for relaxation and recuperation will definitely find it here. The only thing is that the breakfast area isn't particularly cozy due to the architectural design, and you're simply sitting too close to the next table. Otherwise, TOP-NOTCH!!!

We had an absolutely fantastic suite right at the gable end with a sea view. Everything was very clean and very, very warm. We really enjoyed the Nelson Bar, but less so the Kurhaus restaurant. It was very chic, but unfortunately, the dinner wasn't good value for money. Breakfast, on the other hand, was excellent, and the head waiter was a real expert. We were there in February, and unfortunately, the chauffeurs weren't available for our arrival and departure. So, we ended up paying €28 per day for parking right at the hotel. We didn't use the spa area. There's no covered walkway between the buildings, so you have to brave all kinds of weather to get there. The location right on the sea is, of course, beautiful. But that's about all you can expect from Heiligendamm.

Disappointing stay – service and quality fall short of expectations. The cleanliness of the room, especially the bathroom (see photos), was lacking. It's truly sad that the water feature in the lobby wasn't working for at least two days. The elevator door in the Grand Hotel desperately needs maintenance; it squeaks so badly it's quite alarming. The lobby furniture isn't inviting; it looks worn and shabby. The fact that neither of the two fireplaces in the lobby is lit in winter doesn't exactly contribute to a cozy atmosphere. There are a lot of switches in the room – it would be helpful to have a manual explaining their functions – even the reception staff didn't know what some of them were for. The additional costs are so high that they can really put a damper on things (a liter of Coke costs between €30 and €40), and everyone can form their own opinion about the prices of other drinks. One might get the impression that the hotel is leveraging its reputation and its (isolated) location to justify its high prices. At the Kurhaus restaurant, you should definitely order the set menu in the evening – the starter and dessert are a very worthwhile addition to the main course (which alone wouldn't have been nearly enough for me). All in all, it's the accumulation of these little things that will keep me from returning – I'm sorry to say it, but at this price point, I simply expect something different.

This hotel is absolutely nothing like a 5-star hotel! With very few exceptions, the service is inadequate and far from high-end; the entire hotel is completely lacking in customer focus. The sauna doesn't open until 10:00 AM, and even if you arrive early, your room isn't ready until exactly 3:00 PM. At check-in, they don't even tell you when or where breakfast is served. The pool area is incredibly outdated, and any indoor pool is quieter. It's absolutely not a place to relax! Just because you use high-quality materials doesn't make it a 5-star hotel!

Atmosphere vs. Renovation Needs/Service We spent a long weekend at the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm. The location and the hotel's exterior are very appealing. However, the problems started as soon as we checked into our room. The heating didn't work at -8 degrees Celsius outside. Changing rooms only resolved the issue after the maintenance staff came. Now the heating was running at maximum, adjustable only by opening the windows. Peeling paint on the windows and mold on the silicone seals of the shower completed the picture. The food was of inconsistent quality, with the desserts in the restaurant consistently below average. The only recommendable option was the sushi bar. The staff were mostly friendly but clearly understaffed. The spa area is far too small, inconveniently located, and, due to the staff shortage, not as well-maintained as it should be. All in all, there is a significant backlog of renovations and a staff shortage, which is unworthy of a 5-star hotel.

I'm also starting to doubt whether this hotel is part of the LHW Hotels group and therefore unfortunately have to revise my previous review somewhat. For me, what distinguishes an LHW hotel from other 5-star hotels is primarily its superior service. I sorely missed that during this New Year's Eve stay. The high occupancy rate is no excuse. Let me list a few points: The German language skills of the service staff in the Kurhaus? Limited. My aperitif only arrived after I asked for it, and my wife's was already getting warm. It took about half an hour before we could place our order. My impression was that no one felt responsible for us, so these things happen. Yesterday's evening service? Non-existent, or is it no longer offered? This morning's breakfast? Milk and sugar were only available upon request; they had apparently forgotten to set the table completely. But I was the only one who noticed. The salt shaker was empty, so I had to go back to the staff again. Now it's 5:30 pm. Room service still hasn't arrived, despite asking housekeeping at 4:00 PM. Perhaps they're planning to combine day and evening service? Whatever the reason, this is unacceptable, and I can't recall ever experiencing anything like it anywhere else in the world! It's a shame – I can only hope the rest of my stay is more up to par!

Beautiful location right by the sea, breakfast left nothing to be desired. That was about it. Furniture saggy and worn. Grounds not maintained. (Weeds on the terraces, windows look as if they haven't been cleaned in ages, etc.) Children playing football screaming until late in the evening, so that you can't open the window to listen to the waves. A shame considering the location of Haus Mecklenburg. Price/performance ratio absolutely not appropriate. Completely overpriced. Leading Hotel of the World? Location and architecture make it happen, the rest not. We wanted to spend a nice day. Journey was bumpy. Initially we had a junior suite in a kind of castle. Window open, directly below us a wedding party with a DJ playing. When we returned our car we were informed that a "mega event" was expected that day with 25 Ferraris.... They then drove up... directly onto the lawn in front of the wedding party. We were more than a little irritated when we booked a suite at Haus Mecklenburg, only to be whisked away to a castle overlooking a stranger's wedding and flashy Ferrari drivers without any advance warning that it might not be available. Moving to a room at Haus Mecklenburg that was eventually available went smoothly; you wonder why not from the start. The room had a fantastic view, except for two football goals that would spoil any romance. From a hotel of this category, you expect cleanliness and polish instead of cloudy windows, broken curtain rods, and cobwebs in the light fixtures. The staff were consistently friendly and accommodating. Is there something wrong with management, or are they blind to their business? Especially when I read the reviews, I wonder why the criticisms, which are mostly the same, aren't addressed? We wanted to try something new instead of always staying in Warnemünde. Not here again.

The hotel has certainly seen better days. Unfortunately, it's a far cry from G7 charm and the best hotel in Germany, etc. We spent almost a week at the hotel as a family, and it wasn't worth the extremely generous price. Those who stay facing the inner courtyard are constantly noisy until 10-11 p.m. from football, children, music bands, parties, etc. The rooms are very nice, but unfortunately, there are a lot of spiders, and the living rooms are difficult to darken. I wouldn't call the air conditioning that. A complimentary bottle of water - I know it from St. Regis or Kempinski, where they have a water room in the room and always water. Breakfast is wonderful and the only highlight of every day - 5 stars! The staff at the valet and reception, as well as at the Nelson Bar, are all great - the other teams, not so much - they lack warmth. Dinner is difficult with children - as almost all restaurants are geared towards romantic dinners and are also disproportionately expensive for the quality offered. There are no options for anything normal (gastro pub) except for the Nelson Bar (which is also the only one offering a children's menu). Sushi was fully booked all week... The beach bar is very nice, and your safety is also important! The Baltic Sea beaches aren't a problem with the rocks and seaweed. The kids' club is okay, and you can always play soccer. There are always little details in various services that shouldn't be happening in this price category. We're not the type to complain easily; others would certainly have had some problems. Overall: Nice but disappointing - 3 stars from us and no return. Please revise the concept and teams.

As many have already written, the hotel has a great location and a wonderful breakfast. The absolute negatives are the language skills of almost all the staff (hardly any German), the nonexistent beach, which is now just rocks, and the dirty, untidy hotel beach chairs. For a three-star hotel, this would all be fine, but for a five-star hotel with room rates starting at €400, it's an absolute no-go. To top it all off, there were external children's swimming lessons in the wellness area... so there was no peace and quiet at all. A shame. Never again!

Disappointing Stay – Service and Quality Don't Live Up to Expectations Our stay at the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm was unfortunately marked by several disappointing experiences that fell short of the standards of a hotel of this category: • Food Truck Closed: The advertised food truck was closed during our entire stay – without prior notice or a suitable alternative. • Early Closing Time of the Beach Bar: The beach bar closed at 8:00 PM, despite longer opening hours having been communicated. • Service Errors at the Kurhaus Restaurant: The dessert was served with the wrong ice cream flavor; no correction was made. Furthermore, two appetizers were served at the same time, which disrupted the intended menu flow. The fish course lacked the appropriate fish cutlery – absolutely incomprehensible at this price level. • Condition of the Rooms: The windows were uncleaned, the carpet stained – both significantly spoiled the overall impression. • Outdoor Area Poorly Maintained: The pool terrace looked unkempt and did not invite anyone to linger. • Significant staff shortages: A significant staff shortage was noticeable in many areas – particularly in the evening service, at the bar, and in housekeeping. The existing staff often seemed overwhelmed and uncoordinated. The breakfast buffet deserves special mention: The selection and quality were excellent, and the breakfast staff were consistently attentive, friendly, and professional – demonstrating a high level of service. Despite this bright spot, the hotel overall failed to meet our expectations. In our opinion, the price-performance ratio is disproportionate. What a shame!

Unfortunately, a complete disappointment! In this price category, you can expect something. But even simple things like table reservations or room cleanliness don't work here. The staff are either completely incompetent or completely unmotivated. It also seems to be a management issue. We were first given the wrong room, then there were problems with table reservations. Renting e-bikes wasn't possible even though they advertised it. The shower head in the bathroom was old and broken. The quality of the food could have been improved considerably and was completely overpriced. They first claim the restaurant is fully booked, but you have to push hard to get a table. Then, during the evening, you notice that almost half the tables are empty. We still don't understand how that's supposed to be. We're generally willing to pay more for quality and good service, but unfortunately, you won't find either in this hotel. Unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend it! Sorry.

Unfortunately, the area with several buildings is closed to the public. If you want to get to the pier you have to take a long detour. It's a shame that the city administration allows something like this I can't say anything about the hotel's services because I was only out and about.

Unfortunately, our stay in May did not correspond to our positive experiences in December. The service has noticeably deteriorated. On the first evening we had to ask several times for a kettle for our room. It was only after the third request on the second evening that the service manager personally brought the device to us. The service also seemed overwhelmed at breakfast on two out of three days. There were shortages of various things: eggs for breakfast were not available, sausage and cheese were not replenished, and there were also shortages of fresh fruit and vegetables. Unfortunately, the public accessibility of the pier, which leads far out into the sea, spoiled the peace and relaxation. It was crowded with anglers who were already consuming alcohol and picnicking loudly by midday. It was unfortunate to see how these people dumped their garbage into the sea despite the containers being available. However, individual employees who take their job and the idea of service very seriously should be highlighted positively. We were lucky to be served by such professional staff most of the evenings. The spring buffet was also excellent and left nothing to be desired. Our room was clean, although it seemed a bit older, which we were aware of when booking. Undoubtedly the hotel continues to be of a high standard. However, given a price of over 500 euros per night (lowest category), we would expect perfection in all areas. We have decided not to take the long journey in the future and to observe the Grand Hotel from a distance for the time being, hoping for a positive development

We always like to come back to the hotel. Of course not everything is perfect but the positive things outweigh the negatives. The welcome and valet parking is always nice. We have had an upgrade twice now - junior suite on the ground floor with terrace, very practical with a dog. The breakfast selection is great and so is the service, as long as there are no language problems. But what really disappointed me was the closed outdoor pool. It was already nice and mild in April and several guests regretted that the outdoor pool was not open. In addition, during the school holidays, the indoor pool and whirlpool were invaded by many children playing ball, jumping and splashing around. Relaxation is not possible. Since the children's swimming times are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., you can forget about the pool area during this period. Very unfortunate.

The hotel is a german icon with a rich heritage & history dating back from the Emperor days. Beautifully & fully rebuilt after its collapse under Easter Germany, it celebrates Prussian culture & craftmanship. That said, now 20 years after it's grand reopening, an insolvency, Corona, etc. it's clear that the unit economics are still not working at Heiligendamm. Cost cutting has been relentless, up to the point that much of the initial splendour is gone. Food at the Nelson Bar & the Spa is very pricey and without any frills. Too few and untrained staff. Beds don't get mounted for day-service any more. Those beautiful & expensive covers remain unused int the closets. Entertainment in the rooms is outdated (still early 2000's). Hardly any electric plugs, forget USB altogether. Much of the infrastructure doesn't get the maintenance it requires. So prepare for some things not to work properly. The staff is doing what it can but as a guest, having visited over a dozen times since 2007, I can't help but feeling sad to see this beautiful hotel unwind. Used to be rightfully called a leading hotel in the world. Today, sadly no more.

The entrance says "Leading Hotels of the World"; the sign should be removed! On the day of arrival, I tried to contact the restaurant and reception because we couldn't keep our table reservation due to traffic. Unfortunately, I was completely unsuccessful, so calling is pointless. The reception actually had a grand hotel feel to it. We had a deluxe suite with a sea view, so we expected the windows to be cleaned so you could see the Baltic Sea. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired (spit on the mirror?). In a deluxe suite, we would also have expected shower gel and shampoo by the bathtub and in the shower... When we arrived at the restaurant, we were ignored by all the service staff. We were apparently supposed to wait outside, but instead followed other guests who were greeted very warmly. The food falls short of expectations. When the wine recommendation ends with "if that means anything to you," you don't feel welcomed, but rather reprimanded. The next morning, we were woken up by a call from the spa, informing us that all treatments had been canceled. There was no word of apology; rather, their own regret was more prominent. The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired. When we asked at reception if a Porsche was available for us to borrow, we were told by the receptionist that it would cost something. Remember, we had booked a deluxe suite… so the €399 shouldn't be a hindrance. At the spa, we wanted to clarify which treatments were canceled, and they explained all of them to us, including those for the following day. So we were surprised when they asked us at lunchtime why we hadn't shown up for our manicure. I then went for my second appointment and was treated by the first-year apprentice. When I complained, I learned that she shouldn't have been treating me alone. Since I wasn't wearing a watch for the treatment, I didn't immediately realize that it only took 30 minutes. I was still charged for the full 60 minutes. A massage was simply postponed for an hour without informing us. In the evening we went back to the Kurhaus Restaurant, and the food was absolutely mediocre. For dessert, we had a cheese platter. When we asked what kind of cheese we were having, the sommelier said he didn't know much about cheese; he was in charge of the wine, but he was happy to ask. He had served us the cheese platter, though. He came back with the names but didn't give us any advice on which cheese to start with. Since you can get cheese at any Edeka cheese counter, we weren't overwhelmed. When I left, I described some of my negative experiences to reception, and they said I would hear from the hotel. I waited a week, and what I got was a newsletter. I can get a €100 voucher if I review the hotel 😂. I'd already done that, and no one cared. We've felt much more welcome in hotels with fewer stars because we were made to feel like we, as guests, were the focus of everyone's efforts. We only had that feeling here from the doorman. Conclusion: Absolutely overpriced for an aging hotel and poor service!

Everything is pretty dated. Dirty carpet, pathetic bathrobes, slippers only on request. Apart from that, everything here comes across as very heteronormative... with the furnishings in the rooms, where we found half-empty cosmetics. Breakfast was a complete disappointment. One evening we were practically kicked out of the sauna. Why don't they go to this area 10 minutes beforehand to prepare the guests for the sauna closing? But then in this shameless, unbelievable, unfriendly manner. We had to leave the sauna immediately and when we asked if we would like to take a shower, the young man with the (undercut with a braid) rolled his eyes!... and left without saying a word. That was the decisive point for me to say: this was definitely the last time I stay here. I would also like to say a few words about breakfast... because it was almost an impertinence. The saving grace was the menu. In many 4 or 3 star hotels you get a better breakfast than here. The service was abysmal, except for one older gentleman. You can order drinks at the swimming pool...which makes me seriously wonder how rude people can be for a mid-range gin and a shot of tonic water from the brand with the Schwep...to justify that price. Unbelievable. The surrounding area is quite nice, and a few years ago it might have been chic, but those days are long gone. So where do these 5 stars come from?

**★★★★★ Berlin beach escape in style** “So this is the “white city by the sea” – and let’s put it this way: this is like Berlin, only without the dinginess, without the hustle and bustle and without anyone stealing your bike. The Grand Hotel Heiligendamm is really in a different league. You arrive and immediately feel like a Prussian nobleman on a summer vacation (only without a wig). Room? Large, elegant, so clean that even an old Berlin apartment would collapse with envy. Staff? Friendly, but not intrusive – just the right mix of professional and “Want another glass of champagne?” The wellness area? Perfect for sweating away the stress of the big city. And breakfast? So good that I thought about packing something - but it wouldn't be appropriate for the ambience. Conclusion: Heiligendamm is like Berlin-Mitte, only without construction sites, traffic jams and madness. Come back – but please, dear Berliners, everyone stays at home, otherwise it will get crowded here!”

The superb service of the Grand Hotel began before we even arrived in Heiligendamm. Frau Römer responded immediately to our questions and requests per email and reserved a junior suite with sea view as possible upgrade in advance. Dogus made us feel at home from the very first minute of check-in, took time to show us four other possible rooms and suites, and informed us about the history of the hotel and the services provided. While waiting for our fabulous junior suite, we got to know the charming young lady from Indonesia who could respond in Japanese and Chinese - as well as of course perfect German and English - and served us refreshing hot tea. We had dinner twice in the Kurhaus and once in Bar Nelson. The excellent food and drink was only topped by the wonderfully friendly and competent service from start to finish. Live piano music was a perfect accompaniment as was the beautiful furnishing. On our second night we spent a quarter hour after our dinner with Ilona, who provided us with entertaining anecdotes about the property and gave us tips on what to read to learn more about this enchanting place. We already felt at home during our first breakfast in the magnificent Kurhaus with the nice lady from Sri Lanka serving us with freshly prepared egg dishes, pancakes, waffles, and porridge. At the end of our third breakfast we felt as if we'd known Ulrike, Alex, and Ricardo for years, who took our coats, led us to our table, found time for personal small talk, and made us feel like royalty. We were lucky enough to meet one of the directors Juan, who charmingly shared details of the challenges and the joy of working here. We've never been fans of wellness, sauna, pool, so we can only certify that the optics from outside looking in were luxurious. We expressed our appreciation upon checking out, and the young man at reception responded by making notes of our highlights and the staff members who had contributed to making our short stay so memorable, and thus we experienced at departure the same professional competence that began before we arrived. The location of the "white city at the seaside" is of course world-famous not least due to the G8 summit held there years ago, and of course we were awed by the historic buildings perfectly restored and meticulously kept up, and we enjoyed every minute of our very comfortable room with a Baltic Sea view. But what made the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm truly grand were the wonderful people we met there. Maybe the management has been lucky with whom they've chosen to employ, maybe the employees have been lucky to have such great people to work for, probably both. We can certainly say that we were lucky and grateful to have experienced four especially memorable and really grand days there.

Were there for 4 days in June and are happy that the drought of Corona has apparently been overcome, yes, there are still a few weak points, but none worth mentioning, the service, absolutely perfect, the little touches, the friendly people who always think ahead and think ahead, that's how I imagine absolute luxury! Thank you, we will definitely come back!!! Now we were there again for three nights and I have to say, even better than before. The Grand Hotel Heiligendamm is a historic building with a very long history. We had a very nice room with a view of the Baltic Sea from two balconies. The breakfast buffet is served in a separate building - in the Kurhaus Restaurant. In summer you can also have breakfast here on the very large outdoor terrace with a view of the Baltic Sea. The breakfast offering is extensive and partly consists of regional components. If you have intolerances or intolerances, it becomes more difficult. Unfortunately there are no freshly pressed juices either. We would have expected that here. And the coffee specialties on offer aren't the best either. In the Nelson Bar there are cakes from the in-house Patesserie in the afternoon. Highly recommended an absolute must when visiting the Grand Hotel. The spa area with indoor and large outdoor pool is very nicely decorated. There are several saunas, steam baths and even a Turkish hammam. There are large sauna towels on shelves in the entrance area. There is a BAR in the indoor pool area and a large lounge area around the outdoor pool. Conclusion: Nice stay, everything top at a very high level. Outdoor parking space very far away. Parking directly in front of the building is very expensive. The only negative point was that when we arrived we had an employee at the reception who spoke very poor German and was apparently still in training.

The food was excellent, the spa area was great, and the staff was committed. Unfortunately, the overall atmosphere seems a bit loveless, cool and outdated. The rooms are beautifully and elegantly furnished. The spa area extends over 2 floors and is spacious. The number of loungers at the pool is very small, so if a lot of guests want to use the facilities in bad weather, it will be tight. The pool and hot tub are a nice size, the outdoor pool is also an acceptable size. Personally, it was a bit too cold for me. In my opinion it was too cold in the entire spa area and I didn't want to lie on my lounger without a bathrobe. The entire area also seems very cool, there is little to nothing decorative. The treatments were all of outstanding quality and all the staff, whether service staff or spa staff, were friendly and open. Every wish was fulfilled as best as possible or nice alternatives were offered.

This place is magical - wild Baltic Sea coast away from the mainstream tourist hustle and bustle, picturesque white seaside resort palaces, wonderful food and charming, friendly staff in the hotel and restaurants. I think there's almost no better place to hide from the world for a few days. Especially if you look for a time outside of the high season. In October that means you can walk for hours through the salty sea air along the cliffs, seagulls and cormorants and waves on one side, and on the other these surrealistically beautiful beech forests that look like a romantic painting, no matter what the weather. When you come back, you can walk from the beach straight up to the hotel's SPA facility, get a bathrobe and towels and warm up in one of the very steam rooms or saunas, or swim a few laps in the pool (the outdoor pool - heated , in my opinion, because the water temperature was very pleasant for the beginning of October - has an incomparably beautiful outdoor panorama, golden sun-drenched beech tree crowns on one side, white palace architecture on the other). Then head to the very cozy bar for a coffee and a bite to eat. After two or three days you have practically forgotten that there is another world out there ;-) The simple facts: Great & spacious spa and pools (be sure to visit the outdoor pool when it's open), a decent, well-equipped gym, several restaurants, but advance reservations are recommended. We were impressed by the sushi restaurant, but the other restaurants also serve excellent food. If you can, you should plan your stay during quieter times, then the house will reveal all its charm. I would avoid long weekends following public holidays or similar high-frequency times, as then it becomes hectic and crowded, and the all-round carefree service suffers a bit as a result. To sum it all up - we were thrilled, enchanted and had an incredibly good time.

My husband, Axel Klages, and I have been coming to this beautiful location for at least 15 years, sometimes twice a year. However, since we have different names, it has not yet been possible to put them together, a technical problem certainly. The location of the hotel, the look and the beautiful outdoor area are indescribably appealing. The rooms are stylishly furnished, but are getting old. The showers are equipped with heavy old shower heads and are a bit unkempt in the corners. Unfortunately, the bathroom lighting is also a bit dark, but that's certainly a matter of taste. The beds were a bit sagging, so it would be nice if the mattresses were either changed or replaced. The Nelson bar, the library, the breakfast area are still gorgeous. The pool is nice and big and is a pleasure even when it rains. The car attendants are pleasantly helpful, even recognize regular guests by name (maybe this is due to the special cars we drive 😉) and make the first impression perfect. Unfortunately, there is no recognition at the reception (you could check in advance on the PC). While there used to be a chilled wine and selected fruit, together with a handwritten card to greet you in the room, today a small, lonely ensemble of chocolates is the welcome greeting. Ultimately, most of the employees are very friendly. We are also happy to be in the spa department, even though many employees, including those in that area, have left this year. The new concept of holding lots of activities is interesting. It is important that this new concept does not forget what the “bread and butter business” is, namely the guest and their satisfaction.

Not as five star as I would've liked. We weren't really informed of everything on arrival. No water stations available at the spa. The restaurant food prices are beyond ridiculous!!! For 1 or 2 nights ok, but if you stay longer like 7 nights, the restaurants will bankrupt you! Food shouldn't be that expensive. The bar NY club sandwich was very average. The burger was good. But €34 for a burger! The indoor spa was a baby and child playground splashing and screaming everyday, occupying the jacuzzi so adults couldn't relax in there. The main steam room didn't work. The room was nice maybe a little dated. Overall we enjoyed our stay but I wouldn't classify it as 5 stars.

We stayed in this 5-star hotel for a total of two weeks. There were many dubious recommendations upon arrival, which fortunately we hardly implemented: Upgrading from bed and breakfast to half board wouldn't have been for us at all. The note “... this way you are always guaranteed a seat in the outdoor restaurant...” was downright intrusive (in hindsight) because this area was really poorly attended in the evenings. 79 € per person + Drinks for a 3-course menu are also an announcement (x 14 days!) In addition, there are only a few options when it comes to food selection. The recommendation of an in-house parking space (between 15 and 35 €) was even more grotesque, as we parked for 5.75 € every day, no problem! On weekends, the service at breakfast was sometimes catastrophic: If you serve in a German hotel where the majority of guests are seniors, you can expect to have more knowledge of German. The prudence and speed at work can also be a little more customer-oriented. The cleanliness of the rooms was ok, but not outstanding! Unfortunately, our elevator on the 4th floor wasn't vacuumed once in two weeks. There was also a weekly offer in the evening that was interesting: a cinema in the open air in the evening: they even charged an entrance fee, which really annoyed us because the hotel was already expensive enough! Why not offer such a small event for free? The hotel can't really care about the few euros, because we recognized some potential savings during our stay that are probably more financially lucrative than the entrance fee. When it comes to the breakfast buffet, you have to admit without envy that it was really excellent when everything was there and you didn't have to wait 5 minutes for fresh plates or bowls. Oh yes: rolls were almost always in short supply, but there was bread.

I've been a regular visitor to Heiligendamm for years, and it used to be my favorite weekend getaway. The architecture is still beautiful, the rooms are pleasant, and the location is fantastic. The food, especially breakfast, is very good (though breakfast can get quite crowded). However, the overall experience has declined, particularly with the SPA. No more free towels, and the pool is consistently overcrowded with loud children, as the designated kids' swim times now run all day (11am-6pm), which wasn’t the case before. This makes the pool area practically unusable for anyone seeking a peaceful experience. Service at the pool has also deteriorated—tables and lounge chairs are left uncleaned for hours. The Nelson bar menu is uninspiring, and I can't understand why a 5-star hotel doesn’t serve proper espresso from a real Italian espresso machine, instead opting for what seems like industrial coffee. Considering the high price, especially for the sea view rooms, the hotel no longer offers good value for what you get. It’s disappointing.

A children's paradise for a lot of money. Unfortunately our expectations were not met. The historic complex has a lot of charm, the nature in Heiligendamm is beautiful, but not spectacular. The town itself has nothing to offer - no promenade, hardly any restaurants, shops or similar within walking distance. That's ok if you're looking for peace and quiet like we are. But you won't find them because the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm defines families with children as its main target group and adapts everything to their needs. Other guests definitely miss out, children's screaming, raving and crying are omnipresent. There are no child-free areas, although the space is available. The room furnishings are no longer up to date; among other things, it was missing: - Sewing kit - Beach bags - nail file - Guest information on TV (or printed) - Mosquito protection on the windows Our double room was very large, but there was only one armchair and only one sink in the bathroom. The noise from children in/at the pools was unbearable at times. Outdoor pool atmosphere! Children's times are not adhered to, nobody checks it. There were never any staff at the pools who could have ensured order, service and a somewhat tolerable background noise. The note - "Children only from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m." is not clearly visible. Plus it's basically the whole day and therefore too long. We couldn't use the whirlpool on both days (early around 8:30 a.m.!) because it had been converted into a children's paddling pool. The area around the outdoor pool was very dirty from the day before. Cushions, towels, dishes, bottles were lying around. The restaurant prices are not reasonable for what you get: Caesars salad with chicken breast for €36 (Nelson Bar). Very small portion, no romaine lettuce, hardly any parmesan, the dressing was a disaster and definitely not a Caesar dressing with egg, anchovies, mustard etc. That was really an imposition for this price. Tuna Steak, €40 (Nelson Bar) fried to the consistency of shoe soles, also very little, without a filling side dish. There was no bread basket, let alone butter/dip. The service in the restaurants leaves a lot to be desired in places. Almost everyone is very friendly, but there is also a lot of staff bustling around. However, this does not appear to be guided and is obviously without a plan. You wait forever, are deliberately overlooked, have to loudly draw attention to yourself in order to get an order (especially Nelson Bar + Breakfast!), and things don't get cleared for ages. The breakfast restaurant was full of dirty tables and seemed chaotic around 10am on both of our days. The beach area is untidy and careless. Everything is full of stones. You can hardly get into the water. Either the beach needs to be cleaned or filled up or there needs to be a jetty/pontoon from which you can get into the sea without contortions and as undamaged as possible. This is really poor in international comparison. There is also no service on the beach like you would find in international, first-class hotels: Bring and lay out towels, ask for drinks, hand out small snacks or fruit and water for free. The bar/service station on the beach is not appropriate for the property. It looks cheap and is untidy. Open doors reveal the rumpled chaos behind them and that is the first thing the guest sees when they come down there! Conclusion: We won't be coming back especially because of the children's noise that can be heard everywhere. Especially at the pools and while eating, you want to at least relax for €450/night for a very mediocre room. You should perhaps separate the family spectacle from the guests seeking peace and quiet, after all they are the ones who pay. And after all, all brochures and advertisements convey something like “peace and relaxation by the sea”. At least we didn't experience that. For a leading hotel, the hotel is at the lower end of the scale in terms of facilities, service and quality. There are just too many shortcomings for the price.

Staying in this hotel is an unforgettable experience beyond compare! The breakfast buffet is phenomenal, the staff is very friendly, and dogs are also warmly welcomed. Wonderful location. You're lucky if the weather cooperates and you have the best holiday!

More appearance than reality and too high demands on your own abilities! Check-in at the agreed time at 3:30 p.m.: The room is not ready yet, but you can take a look at the hotel while you wait. A drink or a piece of cake is not offered. The hotel does not use the waiting time as expected to bring the luggage to the room - you then have to carry it up yourself. You are seated for breakfast on the terrace and then nothing happens for 15 minutes. No questions are asked about drinks or other requests. Only after you have loudly drawn attention to yourself in an unpleasant way do you get your coffee. The service team is visibly overwhelmed. On the second day the room is not cleaned until 5:00 p.m. The clear complaint made at the same time at the reception is also not taken into account, although it is assured that “we will discuss it and report it to the Rchg. take into account". So the next day when we leave, the complaint annoyingly has to be repeated to other staff. You then generously waive the parking fees for just 5% of the invoice amount. This self-proclaimed “Grand Hotel” is certainly not worth the full price. If you book at a special price and go there with reduced expectations, you can definitely have a nice few days.

Was a top notch hotel several years ago, we travelled weekends from Berlin, used the Spa and had great set dinners with Bordeaux . ( Kempinski by that time)

We love it. The location, the architecture. The service, the food. I can't fault anything.

Thank you so much for a great weekend and a perfect wedding without any flaw in a dream setting! Attentive staff, caring managers at the highest level. No weakness at any time. Perfect! You couldn't organize an event better, the catering couldn't be better and you couldn't feel more comfortable as a host with your guests and children, because at no point did you get the impression that I have to correct myself here. If there were 10 stars it would be 10. Thanks for perfect days. You have a great team, we'll see each other again soon!

Elegant hotel in a historic building ensemble with a great location on a beautiful part of the Baltic Sea, with loungers and beach chairs right on the beach. The tasteful and spacious rooms are classically elegantly furnished but still equipped with modern amenities (such as good Wi-Fi and sufficient sockets for electronic devices) and are a pleasant contrast to the modern, uniform chic of other hotels. There is also a noticeable lack of staff here, but all the employees are very friendly. Very extensive breakfast until 11:30. Overall, always a great address for a little break by the sea.

The place leaves a very ambivalent impression. We had a nice room with a sea view, but that was about it. When we checked in, we were slightly early, i.e. a little before 3 p.m. and we had to wait until the room was ready. It was mentioned that our room would be given priority and that we would be notified by phone when it was ready. The third time we asked personally at 4:15 p.m. the room was ready without a call - we would probably still wait today. We didn't expect that this would continue with the delivery of the luggage to the room. We also had to organize that ourselves. The service in the Nelson Bar and in the morning at breakfast also do not do justice to the league in which the hotel wants to play. And then 28 euros are charged for an outdoor parking space without it being mentioned when checking in. When I asked when checking out whether everything was okay, I first mentioned the faux pas with the room notification - when that was simply laughed off with "Too bad," I knew there was no point in mentioning the other points. For a 5-star hotel and the standards that it sets itself are simply not met!

Pure luxury, but due to some deficiencies in the service it ranks behind the YHD Hohe Düne for us.

Doesn't live up to the standards of a grand hotel in terms of furnishings, service or cuisine. Price/performance differ far too clearly in detail. It's a shame, because the facility and its location and history make much more seem possible.

I only give 2 stars because I think the hotel is really an overpriced, old wellness place. Unfortunately the hotel is totally overpriced. Unfortunately, the rooms were extremely bourgeois and didn't have a particularly nice style. The spa area is not very nicely built, but rather very cool and uncomfortable. There isn't much choice here either. I've already been to completely different wellness hotels. Unfortunately there isn't much to do on site other than walking up and down the beach. The beach is really the ugliest beach I have seen in my life and the sea was so disgusting and dirty that you couldn't swim there. In addition, I find a charge of €50 per night for a dog to be an absolute disgrace. Then another €30 for the parking space… that could really be included in the prices. So we don't come here anymore...
