My husband, Axel Klages, and I have been coming to this beautiful location for at least 15 years, sometimes twice a year. However, since we have different names, it has not yet been possible to put them together, a technical problem certainly. The location of the hotel, the look and the beautiful outdoor area are indescribably appealing. The rooms are stylishly furnished, but are getting old. The showers are equipped with heavy old shower heads and are a bit unkempt in the corners. Unfortunately, the bathroom lighting is also a bit dark, but that's certainly a matter of taste. The beds were a bit sagging, so it would be nice if the mattresses were either changed or replaced. The Nelson bar, the library, the breakfast area are still gorgeous. The pool is nice and big and is a pleasure even when it rains. The car attendants are pleasantly helpful, even recognize regular guests by name (maybe this is due to the special cars we drive 😉) and make the first impression perfect. Unfortunately, there is no recognition at the reception (you could check in advance on the PC). While there used to be a chilled wine and selected fruit, together with a handwritten card to greet you in the room, today a small, lonely ensemble of chocolates is the welcome greeting. Ultimately, most of the employees are very friendly. We are also happy to be in the spa department, even though many employees, including those in that area, have left this year. The new concept of holding lots of activities is interesting. It is important that this new concept does not forget what the “bread and butter business” is, namely the guest and their satisfaction.

Not as five star as I would've liked. We weren't really informed of everything on arrival. No water stations available at the spa. The restaurant food prices are beyond ridiculous!!! For 1 or 2 nights ok, but if you stay longer like 7 nights, the restaurants will bankrupt you! Food shouldn't be that expensive. The bar NY club sandwich was very average. The burger was good. But €34 for a burger! The indoor spa was a baby and child playground splashing and screaming everyday, occupying the jacuzzi so adults couldn't relax in there. The main steam room didn't work. The room was nice maybe a little dated. Overall we enjoyed our stay but I wouldn't classify it as 5 stars.

We stayed in this 5-star hotel for a total of two weeks. There were many dubious recommendations upon arrival, which fortunately we hardly implemented: Upgrading from bed and breakfast to half board wouldn't have been for us at all. The note “... this way you are always guaranteed a seat in the outdoor restaurant...” was downright intrusive (in hindsight) because this area was really poorly attended in the evenings. 79 € per person + Drinks for a 3-course menu are also an announcement (x 14 days!) In addition, there are only a few options when it comes to food selection. The recommendation of an in-house parking space (between 15 and 35 €) was even more grotesque, as we parked for 5.75 € every day, no problem! On weekends, the service at breakfast was sometimes catastrophic: If you serve in a German hotel where the majority of guests are seniors, you can expect to have more knowledge of German. The prudence and speed at work can also be a little more customer-oriented. The cleanliness of the rooms was ok, but not outstanding! Unfortunately, our elevator on the 4th floor wasn't vacuumed once in two weeks. There was also a weekly offer in the evening that was interesting: a cinema in the open air in the evening: they even charged an entrance fee, which really annoyed us because the hotel was already expensive enough! Why not offer such a small event for free? The hotel can't really care about the few euros, because we recognized some potential savings during our stay that are probably more financially lucrative than the entrance fee. When it comes to the breakfast buffet, you have to admit without envy that it was really excellent when everything was there and you didn't have to wait 5 minutes for fresh plates or bowls. Oh yes: rolls were almost always in short supply, but there was bread.

I've been a regular visitor to Heiligendamm for years, and it used to be my favorite weekend getaway. The architecture is still beautiful, the rooms are pleasant, and the location is fantastic. The food, especially breakfast, is very good (though breakfast can get quite crowded). However, the overall experience has declined, particularly with the SPA. No more free towels, and the pool is consistently overcrowded with loud children, as the designated kids' swim times now run all day (11am-6pm), which wasn’t the case before. This makes the pool area practically unusable for anyone seeking a peaceful experience. Service at the pool has also deteriorated—tables and lounge chairs are left uncleaned for hours. The Nelson bar menu is uninspiring, and I can't understand why a 5-star hotel doesn’t serve proper espresso from a real Italian espresso machine, instead opting for what seems like industrial coffee. Considering the high price, especially for the sea view rooms, the hotel no longer offers good value for what you get. It’s disappointing.

A children's paradise for a lot of money. Unfortunately our expectations were not met. The historic complex has a lot of charm, the nature in Heiligendamm is beautiful, but not spectacular. The town itself has nothing to offer - no promenade, hardly any restaurants, shops or similar within walking distance. That's ok if you're looking for peace and quiet like we are. But you won't find them because the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm defines families with children as its main target group and adapts everything to their needs. Other guests definitely miss out, children's screaming, raving and crying are omnipresent. There are no child-free areas, although the space is available. The room furnishings are no longer up to date; among other things, it was missing: - Sewing kit - Beach bags - nail file - Guest information on TV (or printed) - Mosquito protection on the windows Our double room was very large, but there was only one armchair and only one sink in the bathroom. The noise from children in/at the pools was unbearable at times. Outdoor pool atmosphere! Children's times are not adhered to, nobody checks it. There were never any staff at the pools who could have ensured order, service and a somewhat tolerable background noise. The note - "Children only from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m." is not clearly visible. Plus it's basically the whole day and therefore too long. We couldn't use the whirlpool on both days (early around 8:30 a.m.!) because it had been converted into a children's paddling pool. The area around the outdoor pool was very dirty from the day before. Cushions, towels, dishes, bottles were lying around. The restaurant prices are not reasonable for what you get: Caesars salad with chicken breast for €36 (Nelson Bar). Very small portion, no romaine lettuce, hardly any parmesan, the dressing was a disaster and definitely not a Caesar dressing with egg, anchovies, mustard etc. That was really an imposition for this price. Tuna Steak, €40 (Nelson Bar) fried to the consistency of shoe soles, also very little, without a filling side dish. There was no bread basket, let alone butter/dip. The service in the restaurants leaves a lot to be desired in places. Almost everyone is very friendly, but there is also a lot of staff bustling around. However, this does not appear to be guided and is obviously without a plan. You wait forever, are deliberately overlooked, have to loudly draw attention to yourself in order to get an order (especially Nelson Bar + Breakfast!), and things don't get cleared for ages. The breakfast restaurant was full of dirty tables and seemed chaotic around 10am on both of our days. The beach area is untidy and careless. Everything is full of stones. You can hardly get into the water. Either the beach needs to be cleaned or filled up or there needs to be a jetty/pontoon from which you can get into the sea without contortions and as undamaged as possible. This is really poor in international comparison. There is also no service on the beach like you would find in international, first-class hotels: Bring and lay out towels, ask for drinks, hand out small snacks or fruit and water for free. The bar/service station on the beach is not appropriate for the property. It looks cheap and is untidy. Open doors reveal the rumpled chaos behind them and that is the first thing the guest sees when they come down there! Conclusion: We won't be coming back especially because of the children's noise that can be heard everywhere. Especially at the pools and while eating, you want to at least relax for €450/night for a very mediocre room. You should perhaps separate the family spectacle from the guests seeking peace and quiet, after all they are the ones who pay. And after all, all brochures and advertisements convey something like “peace and relaxation by the sea”. At least we didn't experience that. For a leading hotel, the hotel is at the lower end of the scale in terms of facilities, service and quality. There are just too many shortcomings for the price.

Staying in this hotel is an unforgettable experience beyond compare! The breakfast buffet is phenomenal, the staff is very friendly, and dogs are also warmly welcomed. Wonderful location. You're lucky if the weather cooperates and you have the best holiday!

More appearance than reality and too high demands on your own abilities! Check-in at the agreed time at 3:30 p.m.: The room is not ready yet, but you can take a look at the hotel while you wait. A drink or a piece of cake is not offered. The hotel does not use the waiting time as expected to bring the luggage to the room - you then have to carry it up yourself. You are seated for breakfast on the terrace and then nothing happens for 15 minutes. No questions are asked about drinks or other requests. Only after you have loudly drawn attention to yourself in an unpleasant way do you get your coffee. The service team is visibly overwhelmed. On the second day the room is not cleaned until 5:00 p.m. The clear complaint made at the same time at the reception is also not taken into account, although it is assured that “we will discuss it and report it to the Rchg. take into account". So the next day when we leave, the complaint annoyingly has to be repeated to other staff. You then generously waive the parking fees for just 5% of the invoice amount. This self-proclaimed “Grand Hotel” is certainly not worth the full price. If you book at a special price and go there with reduced expectations, you can definitely have a nice few days.

Back to its former glory, everything (again) great. Were there for 4 days in June and are pleased that the drought of Corona has apparently been overcome, yes, there are still a few weak points, but none worth mentioning, the service is absolutely perfect, the little touches, the friendly people who always think ahead and with you , that's how I imagine absolute luxury! Thank you, we will definitely come back!!! Now we were there again for three nights and I have to say, even better than before. You have to experience it to be believed; words cannot describe this great experience

Thank you so much for a great weekend and a perfect wedding without any flaw in a dream setting! Attentive staff, caring managers at the highest level. No weakness at any time. Perfect! You couldn't organize an event better, the catering couldn't be better and you couldn't feel more comfortable as a host with your guests and children, because at no point did you get the impression that I have to correct myself here. If there were 10 stars it would be 10. Thanks for perfect days. You have a great team, we'll see each other again soon!

The place leaves a very ambivalent impression. We had a nice room with a sea view, but that was about it. When we checked in, we were slightly early, i.e. a little before 3 p.m. and we had to wait until the room was ready. It was mentioned that our room would be given priority and that we would be notified by phone when it was ready. The third time we asked personally at 4:15 p.m. the room was ready without a call - we would probably still wait today. We didn't expect that this would continue with the delivery of the luggage to the room. We also had to organize that ourselves. The service in the Nelson Bar and in the morning at breakfast also do not do justice to the league in which the hotel wants to play. And then 28 euros are charged for an outdoor parking space without it being mentioned when checking in. When I asked when checking out whether everything was okay, I first mentioned the faux pas with the room notification - when that was simply laughed off with "Too bad," I knew there was no point in mentioning the other points. For a 5-star hotel and the standards that it sets itself are simply not met!

Elegant hotel in a historic building ensemble with a great location on a beautiful part of the Baltic Sea, with loungers and beach chairs right on the beach. The tasteful and spacious rooms are classically elegantly furnished but still equipped with modern amenities (such as good Wi-Fi and sufficient sockets for electronic devices) and are a pleasant contrast to the modern, uniform chic of other hotels. There is also a noticeable lack of staff here, but all the employees are very friendly. Very extensive breakfast until 11:30. Overall, always a great address for a little break by the sea.

Doesn't live up to the standards of a grand hotel in terms of furnishings, service or cuisine. Price/performance differ far too clearly in detail. It's a shame, because the facility and its location and history make much more seem possible.

I only give 2 stars because I think the hotel is really an overpriced, old wellness place. Unfortunately the hotel is totally overpriced. Unfortunately, the rooms were extremely bourgeois and didn't have a particularly nice style. The spa area is not very nicely built, but rather very cool and uncomfortable. There isn't much choice here either. I've already been to completely different wellness hotels. Unfortunately there isn't much to do on site other than walking up and down the beach. The beach is really the ugliest beach I have seen in my life and the sea was so disgusting and dirty that you couldn't swim there. In addition, I find a charge of €50 per night for a dog to be an absolute disgrace. Then another €30 for the parking space… that could really be included in the prices. So we don't come here anymore...

Price/performance is borderline. We're happy to pay more, then everything has to be right. Stain on the tablecloth (breakfast), crooked picture on the wall, restaurant fully booked, child with football in pajamas at the bar in the evening (8.30 p.m.), I can get the Sprite 0.2 liters for the children for 7 euros cheaper somewhere else. Staff very friendly and helpful. Probably more of an organizational problem. Conversations from the bar (smoking area outside) echoed loudly into the room until 1:45 a.m. Were often in the hotel. This time it failed because of the high expectations that such a house must meet. We'll still come back because the place is unique.
