The food was awful!!! Some of it was old, cold, and dry, and they weren't replaced. The selection was okay, but €10 was way too much for what you got! The atmosphere was like a modern, large cafeteria. The service was very friendly and quick. We won't be back.

The location is really lovely and very clean. The chairs are very comfortable, and you don't feel crammed in like sardines like in some other places. The selection is varied, with something for everyone. I especially liked that there weren't just the usual standard dishes, but also some new things to discover and try. The sushi is amazing. All the food was fresh, hot, and high quality. The chef at the grill knows his craft; my beef steaks and lamb skewers were incredibly tender and not as tough as shoe leather, as is so often the case elsewhere. The service is attentive and very friendly. We had a wonderful and cozy evening, and after this visit, Ruhrstern is already my favorite restaurant.

Very disappointing. I was there today with my two-year-old daughter. While she was quietly playing with a salt shaker, a waiter shouted "Hey!" at her and snatched the shaker out of her hand. Absolutely disrespectful and inappropriate treatment of a small child. We didn't feel welcome at all.

We had to search for the responsible server before we could get another drink. I would also like to point out that, although it's posted, children aged 4-7 have to pay €14.90. The place used to be better. The service was inattentive. The taste was no longer good. We were served the wrong food at the Mongolian grill. It was a Chinese buffet, like in a cafeteria.

Ambience: The high, chaotic ceiling decoration, hovering above the buffet and guest seating, is diverse and mostly small, and will likely only be able to be cleared of dust and grease deposits using high scaffolding, which is quite unlikely. This is apparently intended to visually distract from the exposed pipes and cables of an industrial-hall-like ceiling. The equally chaotic decoration of the clumsy room dividers does not break up the acoustics of the many loud guest voices, but rather directs them into all zones of this circus-like, mass-produced food processing hall. In addition to the drinks being served in the background, indistinct and unintelligible snatches of music can be heard, which neither create the right atmosphere nor offer any other benefit. Service: At least this was a bright spot on the day I visited, with polite, friendly attention and prompt service. All visible buffet counters, guest areas, and washrooms were always kept very clean. Food: The buffet was at least well-stocked from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. However, the quality of the dishes I tried (all of which were only lukewarm) left much to be desired. In the (fresh) fish section, there was a strong smell (to put it politely) of fish, which is surprising, since fresh fish is notoriously devoid of smell. The meat, poultry, and vegetable dishes I tried were often unpleasantly overseasoned, leathery, or completely overcooked, falling apart and dry. The Asian sauces, typically lacking in variety and simplicity for buffets, and the boring, sole soup were thickened (in terms of flavor), sour to bitter and bitter, and thus almost inedible, at least for Western European gourmet palates. Apparently, the intention is to encourage guests to consume more drinks by deliberately making their palates dry, which should, if possible, double the already excessive buffet bill for the culinary delights (on the level of a poorly trained fast-food team) with exorbitantly high prices. The open Rheinhessen Riesling offered for this occasion was only slightly sparkling, but had a herbaceous acidity. My evasive choice of this unpredictably unchilled British colonial bitter drink lacked, in addition to the essential ice and the usual citrus garnish, sufficient carbonation, so that it only partially quenched my thirst. Unfortunately, my final dessert of unripe melon slice, a handful of sour cherries, and a slice of cheap strawberry cake still frozen in the center, didn't put a placating end to my unexpected disappointments. The seemingly unsupervised group of small children, each with two self-tapped, but moderately successful, portions of soft ice cream in their hands, playing the land of milk and honey in a friendly and lively manner, yet not being steered into more discreet behavior by their surely ill-mannered parents or at least by the service, did not in any way enhance my sense of well-being as a guest. Conclusion: Even in a good, affordable restaurant, guests choose dishes from a small menu, which are served fresh and perfectly prepared. The exact opposite of what feels like the test kitchen of untrained box unpackers and frozen food warmers offered here. (I didn't bother to use the griller at the Mongolian station and therefore exclude him from the assessment.) All in all, as the late Queen Lisbeth once said: "I'm not amused. Not approved." Addendum: The fact that, according to the notice, guests are lured and bribed with vouchers if they give this place a 5-star rating is the icing on the cake. Simply disgusting...! These ridiculously good reviews since the reopening should be viewed in this light, as they exaggerate the overall rating, including the positive reviews of the former 'gourmet temple'.

What a nice place! Very lively already at 18.00. Lots of parking space and when you see all the food, you simply don't want to stop eating. Cooked to order or from the buffet, everything was delicious. I will be back for sure!
