Gourmet Tempel in Bayreuth

Today was our last visit to the temple—the restaurant no longer deserves to be called a gourmet restaurant. When the restaurant first opened, the food was delicious for a short time, then okay. Today, however, it was €30 per person for dinner, poor quality meat (both the meat still waiting to be grilled and the meat already cooked), almost cold "warm" dishes at the buffet, and many dirty "clean" plates and cutlery.... I was completely appalled by the still-frozen, rock-hard scallops, as well as the still-frozen, equally rock-hard green beans.... As an addendum the next morning: Two of the four people spent a sleepless night with severe stomach problems and are hoping to recover during the day....

All-you-can-eat and drink buffet, a large room with several adjoining rooms. Reservations recommended. The food selection is extensive, but unfortunately, there are many questionable Chinese dishes like nuggets, fries, donuts, etc. I wish there were more authentic dishes here. The taste is okay, although there aren't any highlights. The Mongolian grill is better, allowing you to create your own dishes—although at peak times, you'll wait a good 20-30 minutes for your plate. The service is very good, and used plates are cleared away quickly. The wide selection of drinks is also worth mentioning.

Overall not bad, but I don't need to go there again. On the positive side, I only had to pay €30 for the buffet instead of €30.90, which reflected the customer service. However, the buffet itself wasn't anything particularly outstanding and was somehow always the same as other Chinese buffets of this type. I prefer Greek buffets or others. The Bali in Iserlohn was much tastier. It's a shame they don't serve it anymore. Dessert overall wasn't bad, but nothing compared to all the cakes you can get at all-inclusive hotels in Hurghada. The chocolate fountain isn't a big deal for me either, as it uses slightly bitter chocolate. I think a temporary chocolate fountain, for example at Easter or Valentine's Day for special promotions, but with delicious Milka chocolate, would be better than a permanent one with bitter chocolate.

We went there for the buffet dinner in the evening, and what can I say? A huge selection of dishes, both ready-made and freshly prepared, simply fantastic, and all delicious... 😋 The price (Friday = €30.50 per person) included all the (sometimes expensive) alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, dessert, ice cream, etc. It's quite modern yet typically Asian, clean, and well-maintained. Reservations are recommended, as it's quite busy. Important: Only take as much food and drinks as you can manage, otherwise you'll be charged a fine. I think it's great, so nothing ends up in the trash. We're looking forward to the next time... 🫶

There's a wide selection of good food here. All you can eat... Every time I've been here, I've been close to bursting.

At lunchtime during the week, the price is decent. Weekends and evenings are twice as expensive; you only get the grill, otherwise the menu remains the same. One positive thing to note is that drinks are included in the price.

I used to be so enthusiastic... they paid attention to everything, over and over again... now it's overpriced, the quality is declining rapidly, and the crowds are terrible... really, really terrible... the inconsideration has increased dramatically...

You should update your opening hours on Google. We came all this way for nothing...

My wife and I go there every year in September for my birthday. In recent years it has always been a highlight for us to eat at the gourmet buffet. But this year was definitely the last time we go there. The quality of the food has declined considerably. The next day we literally couldn't get our bowls off our plates. We should really call the health department! Nobody sees us there anymore! Oh and by the way, this year I couldn't finish half a plate because I felt sick, so I had the liberty of throwing the leftover food on my plate under the table! I don't see the point in paying a €5 fine. And speaking of plates: most of the plates were broken.

The food was okay for a buffet, not bad. The only thing I found was that the drinks sometimes took a long time to refill. The service was borderline in my opinion. We paid for the buffet at the beginning, and after leaving the restaurant, the employee/owner followed us to the parking lot because our little girl hadn't finished a bottle of soda that was a little over half full and wanted a €4 fine. It was just that bottle that we unfortunately didn't like at all. The atmosphere was fine, except for the loud noise level.

I'll be honest: This gourmet temple used to be great, but these days, for €32 per person, you often get cold or hard food. Not even everything labeled is available at the buffet. When we wanted to leave, we were seriously asked if we wanted to drink more of a half-full bottle of soda, and we had to force it down. Otherwise, we would have had to pay another €4 fine. Sorry, we left almost €200 here, and now I have to put up with something like that? And then they only serve fortune cookies for €0.20 each? This is the last time we were here. I've never experienced the owner follow you to the front of the bar and confront you about something so trivial. Ridiculous.

You can go there but I'm used to better

Today was the first time we ate here in a long time, and it will be the last. I got a piece of watermelon and held it under the chocolate fountain. When I took a bite, I noticed it had a musty, moldy taste. Then I looked at the piece more closely and could see visible mold. I then took the piece to an employee, who dismissed it with the words "how could that happen" and simply threw it away, WITHOUT an apology or any other reaction. We will not be going back to the store and cannot recommend it to anyone!!!

Got a seat quickly. Receptionist was very nice. Food was plentiful and good. Unfortunately, I had to pay €4 for a 1.5-year-old child. This is incomprehensible to me, as a 1.5-year-old definitely doesn't eat for €4. I always enjoy going to Bayreuth to the gourmet temple, but now, due to the disproportionately high costs for a 1.5-year-old child, I unfortunately have to find a new Asian restaurant.

We ate at Gourmet Tempel today at 7:45 p.m. There was no wait and we got our seats right away. Disappointingly, the sushi buffet was almost empty. After about 45 minutes, the buffet still hadn't been restocked. Unfortunately, the other counters were also very slow to restock today. As a result, we had to wait a long time before we could get something to eat. We hope things will be a little better on our next visit.

We were here for the first time this evening. The buffet is exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant like this. A little surprise is that they have kangaroo, zebra, and shark. Necessary? No, but a nice idea. 😅 The flat rate for non-alcoholic drinks is a great idea. They don't just offer water, cola, and iced tea, but even small bottles of high-quality products like Bionade and Granini. Highly recommended

The website advertises itself as follows: ...light and aromatic cuisine...a pleasant atmosphere and a friendly service team await you. My definition: Deep-fried and oil-soaked food // Mass processing + noise levels worse than in an all-inclusive hotel // Service team - self-service! But at least they're on the ball when clearing up, and the tables are cleaned properly! I was last there over 10 years ago. I was worried it wouldn't be good, what can I say? It was even worse. First, you have to pay and then be escorted to your seat in the hustle and bustle. Of course, I understand that; by the end, no one would have a clear overview. However, it's not a pleasant dining experience/date/feeling. A number of items on the buffet are just fried foods like fries, potatoes, spring rolls, fish, chicken, etc., not from a 10 kg bucket, but from what feels like a 100 kg bag, bought cheaply from the wholesale market. The other side of the menu, with its pre-prepared Asian dishes, didn't impress me at all either; everything was extremely greasy, oily, and smothered in sauce. The salad bar doesn't deserve any attention. It's as blandly presented as it tastes. I was particularly disappointed by the line of fresh, unprepared dishes and vegetables – very, very little choice. There wasn't even fresh garlic, even that was frozen. The same goes for the green beans. The peppers and onions, although fresh, were cut into 2 cm thick slices or rings, while the spring onions were 5 cm and larger... Twice, our FRESH PLATES were brought out, some of them extremely burnt. There were various types of meat, including the specialties kangaroo, zebra, beef, etc. If you like that, this is the place for you. But there were only three tongs for the many different varieties. There was also shark, frog, etc., which wasn't relevant to me either. The desserts were also entirely frozen. Donauwelle from a tray, the cheapest pudding, and the ice cream, I don't know, even the cheapest supermarket in the world has better ice cream. The watermelon tasted like water. Unfortunately, I can't understand at all how anyone there is seriously willing to pay €32 per person. I'd rather go to McDonald's. You can't have a conversation, it's so incredibly loud, and it just resembles a cheap mass-produced frozen food store. My two visits, now and over 10 years ago, were for a meeting, and that's definitely how it will stay!

Parking is available directly in front of the door or in the free parking garage. During rush hour, it can get quite tight. You pay at the reception and then head to your seat. The buffet is relatively typical for an all-you-can-eat buffet. Fresh ingredients (fish, vegetables, meat, pasta) for live cooking, ready-made meals, the usual fried foods, salad, and sushi. Then there are various desserts, including jelly, coconut pudding, tiramisu, various fruits, fruit skewers for the chocolate fountain, and various ice cream flavors. The food is generally of good quality and is regularly freshly prepared and replenished, although there are also cheaper buffets where you can still find a few more delicacies. A big plus, which justifies the comparatively high price, is the all-you-can-eat option. Bionade, Granini lemonades, soft drinks, coffees, and some beers (including non-alcoholic ones) are also included. Late at night, the toilets feel completely flooded, and paper towels are empty, so they should be taken care of at some point. Unfortunately, it's quite loud, but that's something to be expected with a large number of guests. All in all, for the price, you should come hungry; there should be something for everyone, and you'll definitely go home full at the end.

We're always satisfied. However, it bothers us that juices and some dishes are simply not refilled. For the price, you expect everything to be available. Many people stare disappointedly at the empty containers. This is simply ignored. What a shame!

Very overpriced, but one of the best all-you-can eat in the area. Only take what you eat, since there is a fee if you leave excessive amounts of food on your plate. For the most part the food is very fresh and regularly filled quickly when empty. The drinks are very good and most are included in the price.

We reserved a table for June 27th by phone on June 20th. So, we spoke to someone personally. The reservation was confirmed. So we went there on June 27th and found the doors closed. It was a company holiday. And we weren't the only ones there with a reservation. They personally reserved a table for us, even though the place was closed that day. Thanks for nothing, it ruined my birthday 🙂

A huge buffet with a huge selection. By paying the flat rate before eating (drinks included), you don't have to constantly request staff. The selection is very varied, including sushi, fresh food prepared on the grill, and desserts with a chocolate fountain. You can get your own drinks. You can choose between non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. There are even coffee machines, juices, and cocktails (although these are extra). There was plenty of space for eight of us, despite the size and the number of guests. You can have a good conversation and spend a pleasant day or evening together.

The buffet is very good. Extensive. There's something for every taste. The staff is very attentive and refills drinks promptly. The atmosphere is very comfortable.

Went there for the buffet yesterday at lunchtime and I have to say we weren't impressed at all.... the only thing that can be highlighted is the fast service and the sushi is, let's say, edible/okay because it's included in the lunch buffet anyway. At first we were a bit surprised that there was already so much going on at 12 p.m. during the week and that almost all the tables in the large hall with the same character were already occupied. The food at the buffet is just mass production. If you don't rely on reasonable quality and taste, you've come to the right place. Some people have so few manners and inhibitions that they eat things right at the buffet, which is simply unbelievable. The food itself tastes very flat, unaromatic and full of MSG (monosodium glutamate) and yes at other Chinese buffets it is not much better but here the quality level is already very low. Especially when it comes to spices and flavors, everything tastes almost the same and although it satisfies your hunger if necessary, it doesn't satisfy your enjoyment. Things don't get any better when it comes to dessert, the fruits were fresh (apple, pineapple) but I would stay away from the chocolate fountains. I don't know what's in there or what has already ended up in there from the outside and is only held back at the bottom by the suction sieve. Some people just keep everything in there, from pieces of cake to cups, so they can take some of the chocolate sauce with them to their place. In any case, we won't be coming back, there are better buffets in the area if we have to.

Overpriced and poor quality food. Duck breast which consists only of fat and cartilage. Burnt food from “show cooking”. Rubber squid rings. The fried noodles could be 1 to 1 from the Norma refrigerated counter. Could go on like this forever. There were 7 of us and not even the greedy person could empty the plates. Every Asian stall around the corner can do this better.

Disappointing. Not enough parking spaces. Queue at the entrance, whether reserved or not. Although a larger group registered, there were not enough places available. Children should sit on their parents' legs. Some people in the group had to take turns standing until another table was free. Spaces far too narrow. If someone wanted to get something at the buffet, five people had to get up. Even though it was completely overcrowded, more and more people were allowed in. This also creates a noise like in a football stadium. The service did not keep up with the dishes where you can put together fresh grilled or fried dishes at the chilled buffet. The plates with the selected dishes were all over the counter. Uncooled and open without protection. Anyone could cough or sneeze into it. I stopped counting when there were 60 plates waiting to be prepared. Mine took over half an hour to cook - totally burnt. The selection was good. But the taste wasn't convincing. 30€ for a buffet at medium canteen level.

Overall unfortunately disappointing. Despite reservations, there are not enough seats. Loud, cramped, poor service, some of the food wasn't really warm anymore. The freshly prepared food is ok. However, it takes far too long. Going out for a really comfortable meal is something different.

Warm buffet, raw buffet of various fish and meat types are grilled/fried according to your choice. Fruit, ice cream and dessert counter. Coffee and drinks for refills included in the price. A pleasure! We'll be back.

Otherwise always satisfied. This time the food was lukewarm and the restaurant itself was uncomfortably cold.

Also very pleasant with children. Only toilets were partly completely wet on the floor and somewhat unhygienic. The service was very good and the selection is very large. The raw things were very tasty during the show cooking/Mongolian BBQ. The seafood in particular is really good and there is also a good selection here with a few exotic (and not just the typically German) standard items. For example, squid, crabs and various mussels. All very tasty. It would be nice if allergens were advertised at the buffet.

Yummy . It's just something where you're too busy anyway. But a large selection. Drinks are included with all you can eat. What more could you want? Here we come again.

You can eat well there in a group. There are many places. The buffet is generously laid out. You can have various specialties freshly fried on site. The selection of drinks is extensive. The bar also serves alcoholic drinks such as beer, wine and cocktails.

Since we were in Bayreuth anyway and it was dinner time, we decided to eat here. Generously designed dining areas and self-service counters increased the anticipation of a cozy culinary evening. The food is good and varied, large selection of hot and cold dishes... This makes eating fun. Actually, it was just the time that ensured we didn't stay too long. We will definitely go here again. It was really not good. Worst Asian restaurant we've ever had. Rice and noodles were far dry and had no taste. The duck meat was also partly very tough and dry. Buffet also costs over 30 euros per person. Drinks are included, but it's still a lot of money. However, the service is top, they always make sure the food is delivered. However, the ambience wasn't really good either. It's way too crowded, too loud and somehow too big and everything is confusing. It's a shame!

It was a huge rush today. We reserved and the place we were assigned was very drafty and cold. At the Mongolian buffet I prepared a plate of fish. I received my plate with meat as a vegetarian and I don't think it's good. For sushi, if it were labeled where meat is included it would be great Will I go there again???

I'm now proceeding in a crown-logical manner, I think it's best in this case! There are enough parking spaces, you get a very friendly welcome, you got there very quickly at the registration desk despite there being a lot of groups, and we were shown several tables to choose from! The food at the buffet was always freshly replenished, there is a lot to choose from, whether it's starters, main courses or desserts! Personally, I think it's more than okay that an additional €5 is now charged for every plate that isn't eaten, because this means that significantly less food is thrown away! The price of €31.90 (we were there in the evening) for the buffet including drinks is definitely more than fair for what is on offer there! To the Gourmettempel team: we would like to thank you again for the wonderful evening!

A colleague answers the phone who cannot speak German clearly and gives us a reservation for 3:30 p.m. We drove there for an hour and they were closed and we called again and were told they were on break and wouldn't open again until 5:30 p.m.

We had made a special reservation for New Year's Eve, but the reservation could not be found and no solution or alternative was found. Were very unfriendly and incompetent

We've been going there for 10 years now, but I have to say it's not worth the money anymore!!! The quality of the food is getting worse and now it wasn't hot anymore. When the service staff were asked about it, of course no one felt responsible for it. If it continues and you don't respond to the guests, there probably won't be many more.

At the birthday party, birthday songs were played and the birthday boy was given a small cake and candles. Unfortunately, we did not inform us in advance when we made the reservation, so we could only share the joy of celebrating others' birthdays.
