A surprising find in Düren. I wasn't expecting such authentic Syrian/Arabic cuisine here. The shawarma are very tasty. The portion is a bit smaller (more of a snack than a main meal), but absolutely reasonable for the price. The biriyani, a rice dish, is well-seasoned, and the chicken in it is of good quality. Fatteh is an Arabic salad consisting of fried bread and chickpeas in a yogurt sauce. The combination may be a bit unusual for German tastes, but it's very tasty if eaten fresh, before the bread gets too soggy. The kibbeh aren't dried out, as you often find, and they're also filled. You'll also find tabbouleh and hummus, as well as what is certainly the best falafel in all of Düren. If you're dining with someone who doesn't want to be exposed to foreign flavors, there are also the usual burgers, chicken, and fries. I can't comment on those, though, as I haven't tried them. Overall, a real insider tip, and I hope a restaurant like this can continue to thrive in Düren. The staff are very friendly and strive to fulfill their guests' wishes.

A small, fine, owner-operated restaurant. I ordered a falafel wrap to go, which was made with fresh ingredients. It tasted really good. The service was friendly and attentive. Very supportive.

Last night, Kandre's was packed. Service, drinks, food, and entertainment—everything was perfect. My highlight was the skate wings! Fish lovers should definitely try them. But even those who aren't usually into fish will enjoy them. White flesh and no bones!
