Where should I begin... We had made a reservation, expecting that other guests would be eating before a performance at the Palatin – how wrong we were. When we arrived, we were greeted by a completely clueless waitress who knew nothing about the reservation. We sat down at a random table and were quickly surprised by the strange ambiance. Even though we changed tables, it was cold and drafty everywhere. The dining room was strangely quiet. There was some faint music playing, but from a portable radio at the bar, and the ceiling speakers hummed. The chalkboards surrounding the room were listlessly written with uninspired suggestions. This created anything but a cozy atmosphere in the huge room, even though several other tables were occupied. Next door, an entertainer was doing a soundcheck, which we heard loudly because all the connecting doors were simply open. Her off-key singing and the occasional commentary over the microphone didn't exactly improve the atmosphere. The waitress gave us a menu and a printed, flimsy piece of paper. There was only a fraction of the menu, and you could only order food from a sheet of paper. Drinks had to be chosen from the "regular menu," and we studied dishes we would have liked to order, but which weren't available. Our ordered drinks only arrived partially, and after what felt like an eternity; at least we weren't charged for them anyway. Little by little, a few tables around us received food, including an appetizer platter. When we saw that it was just a collection of convenience food from the freezer and deep-fried with a little greenery to brighten it up, and the other dishes weren't exactly convincing either, we finally left. Strangely, we were happier even at Burger King. It's no surprise that the place is now closed. We seem to have caught the last few days and weeks; no one there has been making any effort.

Pizza didn't seem homemade, burger wasn't quite cooked. Unfortunately, people don't check often enough to see whether the glasses are empty. You have to take action yourself. Too bad. I like the atmosphere embarrassingly though.
