Where should I start... We had made a reservation in the expectation that other guests would eat there before a performance at the Palatin - how wrong we were. When we arrived, we were greeted by an absolutely haphazard waitress who knew nothing about a reservation. We sat down at a random table and were quickly amazed at the strange atmosphere. Because even though we changed tables, it was cold and drafty everywhere. It was strangely quiet in the dining room. There was a shallow noise playing, but from a portable radio on the counter, the ceiling speakers were humming away. The chalkboards all around were listlessly written with uninspired suggestions. This did not create a cozy atmosphere in the huge room, even though several other tables were occupied. Next door, an entertainment singer was doing a sound check, which we heard loudly because all the doors in between were simply open. Her strange singing and the occasional comments through the microphone didn't necessarily make the atmosphere any nicer. The waitress gave us a menu and a printed out flimsy piece of paper. Because there was only a fraction of the menu, you could only order food from a piece of paper. You had to choose drinks from the "normal menu" and we looked at dishes that we would have liked to order but that weren't available. Only some of the drinks we ordered came and after what felt like an eternity, at least we weren't charged for them anyway. Little by little, some of the tables around us received food, including an appetizer platter. When we saw that it was just a collection of convenience food from the freezer and deep fryer with a few greens to brighten it up and that the other food wasn't particularly convincing either, we finally left. Strangely enough, we were even happier with Burgerking. We're not surprised that the store is now closed. We seem to have gotten caught up in the last few days and weeks; no one has made any more effort there.

Pizza didn't seem homemade, burger wasn't quite cooked. Unfortunately, people don't check often enough to see whether the glasses are empty. You have to take action yourself. Too bad. I like the atmosphere embarrassingly though.
