Gaststätte Schreberstübchen in Gronau (Westf.)

I can't quite understand the glowing reviews. The food was good, but not exceptional compared to the descriptions in the menu. e.g. B.: Boccoli tomatoes, chile, vodka (spicy): pureed tomatoes with chili? Sorry, there wasn't anything spicy - the chili was only allowed to watch the cook. The others liked it and it was nicely prepared. But there is still room for improvement for “fine dining”. The service was good and nice, as was the ambience in the restaurant. You can use the shared toilet area with the cinema, but honestly, you should avoid going there.

Outstanding restaurant, fantastic staff, absolutely top-notch cuisine. A restaurant that is second to none, 5-star quality.

Ordered a large doner kebab for pickup €10, picked it up at the specified time. It was cold, the bread wasn't fresh and completely open in the middle at the bottom (because it wasn't fresh), so all the filling fell out. I rarely leave reviews, but this doner kebab is currently in the trash. Oh, and the meat was also of poor quality.

As always, the food was very tasty!!! It's just a shame that the restaurant closes on January 1st 😔

2nd review. July 19, 2025. Reserved at this restaurant. Service is terrible. The food is delicious. Unfortunately, your appetite is lost there before you get anything to drink or eat. Waiting 1 hour before you get a drink. Then waiting another 3/4 hour before you get something to eat. Eventually just walked to the bar myself to get a drink. That goes quickly, though. The service used to be good there. People coming to the terrace are served without a reservation. Normally, you are required to make a reservation there. If the terrace is open, I won't go there anymore. "The young new staff were thrown in at the deep end this evening." Ate there again recently this year with good and polite service. Had another delicious 5* meal just like the last time, with fast service and good oversight. Including service, therefore now a total of 4 stars.
