Sehr leckeres Essen mit tollem Service in einer waldschenke mitten im „Nirgendwo“. Sehr zu empfehlen!

„Mal was anderes“ Schon der Weg dorthin ist so wie kaum woanders. Mit dem Auto fährt man rund fünf Minuten durch den Wald bis man ankommt. Innen ähnelt das Ambiente einer Ski-/Waldhütte: Alles ist rustikal eingerichtet. Das macht einen gemütlichen Flair. Die Speisekarte ist klassisch gehalten: Schnitzel, Sauerbraten, Geschnetzeltes. Geschmacklich keine 10/10 - die Gerichte variieren. Alles ist aber merklich selbst gemacht und in jedem Fall lecker. Empfehlen kann ich den Sauerbraten. Der Service ist schnell - wir mussten weder auf Getränke noch auf Essen lange warten. Für die klassische Hausmannskost würden wir wiederkommen.

Tolles Ausflugslokal mit motivierten Mitarbeitern. In der Nebensaison recht ruhig. Bei schönem Wetter stark besucht. Bei meinem letzten Besuch bekam ich etwas zu trinken angeboten, obwohl eigentlich geschlossen war. Solche Aktionen sprechen für sich👍🏼

Ich war bereits mehrmals im Restaurant Köppel und bin jedes Mal begeistert. Die Gerichte sind hervorragend zubereitet und überzeugen durch frische Zutaten und hohe Qualität. Besonders gefällt mir die regelmäßig wechselnde Speisekarte, die immer wieder neue, kreative Ideen bietet. Hier wird spürbar mit Leidenschaft gekocht und viel Wert auf guten Service gelegt. Das Ambiente ist angenehm und einladend, sodass man sich sofort wohlfühlt. Meiner Meinung nach ein Restaurant auf sehr hohem Niveau. Ich komme gerne wieder!

Einfach immer wieder ein tolles Ziel - sei es bei einer Wanderung oder Mountainbiketour. Vor allem im Winter mit Schnee ist die Atmosphäre (auch draußen) wunderschön! Freundliches Personal (vor allem der „Chef“, der die Gaststätte voll im Griff hat), leckeres Essen und abwechslungsreiche Aktionen. Weiter so!

Es war ein unfassbar schöner Abend 🤗 Das Essen war Mega-klasse! Der Service total nett und auf Zack 👌🏻im Anschluss durften wir als Gäste musikwünsche äußern! Da geh ich auf jeden Fall wieder hin 🤗

Freitags so gegen 14:30 Uhr dort angekommen. Frage : Ist eventuell noch ein Tisch zum Essen frei , 45 Min. hätten uns gereicht. Leider nur noch Platz an der Theke . Der Stammtisch war frei, auch nach einer Std noch. Der Stammtisch wurde bis wir um 17:30 Uhr die Gaststätte verlassen haben nicht besetzt. Einige Gäste haben nachgefragt .Der Stammtisch war für 18 Uhr reserviert. Unglaublich , in diesen 3 1/2 Std hätten manche Gäste die Speisekarte hoch und runter essen können. Wir haben uns danach eine andere Lokalität zum Essen gesucht. Was ist das für eine Planung. Nein danke, das war für uns definitiv der letzte Besuch.

Essen, Ambiente und Service war wirklich gut. Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 12 Personen dort. Kritikpunkt: Umbestellungen von Beilagen z.B. Pommes statt Bratkartoffeln sind leider für den Koch unmöglich. Dafür hat der Küchenchef sogar an unserem Tisch ein befreundetes Ehepaar gefragt, ob diese nicht richtig die Karte lesen könnten (sehr fürsorglich). So eine Freundlichkeit macht den Abend dann erst richtig zu einem vollen Erfolg. Wenigstens hat das Serviceteam für eine Schadensbegrenzung gesorgt.

Wir waren heute mit ca 12 Personen dort. Die Bedienungen waren einwandfrei! Das muss man ehrlich sagen. Der Koch allerdings war die reinste Katastrophe!! Umbestellungen wie z.B. Pommes anstatt Bratkartoffeln waren für ihn unmöglich. Und als wir Fragen zu unserem Essen hatten, kam der Koch höchstpersönlich angestiefelt und fragte uns ob wir die Karte denn nicht richtig lesen könnten…ein unbelehrbarer unfreundlicher Mensch. Die Mädels tun mir persönlich sehr leid! Ein hohes Lob an die Mädels, die diese ganze Situation mit sehr viel Klasse entspannt haben. Trinkgeld Bedienungen 10€ Koch = 0€

Super Laden, super Bedingungen und Tobias ist ein super Chef und Gastgeber. Hier muss man gewesen sein! Klare Empfehlung :)

A bitter disappointment: we were among the first guests that day, and yet hardly anything went right. The drinks were okay – just bottled beer. But then the food situation was a disaster. It took over an hour for six orders of currywurst and fries and two orders of goulash soup. When I got my food, I was told they were out of soup. They couldn't or wouldn't offer me a quick alternative – instead, I had to wait another half hour. I left hungry. Sorry, but anyone who can't manage fast food shouldn't be running a restaurant. According to friends and acquaintances, this unfortunately happens quite often here. It's a real shame, the place has so much charm! But what's the point if you're overwhelmed by everything?

The food was amazing, the service was super friendly, it couldn't have been better, and everything was perfect. I'd gladly come back again.

We had a wonderful evening at Köppel! The atmosphere was very cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening. The food was simply delicious – every dish was a delight. I would especially like to commend the friendly and efficient service, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

Excellent rustic cuisine prepared by a superb chef. This is not the kind of food you'd expect in a forest inn. The ambiance is like a mountain cabin, complete with a wood-burning stove (in winter) and appropriate music. The menu changes regularly, so there's something for everyone. They also host events from time to time.

Yes, absolutely! A fantastic restaurant in the middle of the woods, a rustic atmosphere, super friendly staff, and they offer delicious little treats from the kitchen. I'm a regular 👍 and if your dog is well-behaved, it's very welcome. Mine always gets his water before I get my beer. Köppel has now expanded his menu with schnitzel specialties, hamburgers, etc. Fantastic! 👍☺️

Update August 25, 2025 Well, what can I say – you've really stepped up your game! Firmly in the saddle, with great events and one of the best regional chefs you could wish for. Everything we ate was fantastic. The ambiance was still so cozy. And now I'm looking forward to the fall and winter again, when your forest has a very special charm. I wish you all the best and much success from the bottom of my heart. So, from me – for you, your effort, your ingenuity, and of course for Betz's kitchen – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Old review... Nice, rustic, and cozy location in the middle of the forest. Five stars for that. The new owners have really put a lot of effort into renovating the hut. The menu selection could use some rethinking. A motto in the restaurant industry was, is, and remains - fries ALWAYS work. That doesn't really stick. The currywurst seems to be a convenience product from the microwave, at least it tastes identical to one. The meat sausage is excellent, the bread delicious. The soup is also tasty, and the potato salad is okay. I don't know if it's homemade, but it tastes good. We went there for the schnitzel buffet, and it was really, really delicious. Everything was top-notch. The sauces, the side dishes, the schnitzel, everything was top-notch and always plentiful. For that, it gets six out of five stars. A very nice little beer garden with sturdy furniture invites you to take a break. In winter, it's ultra-cozy there; the oven is on, and the cozy atmosphere tempts you to stay longer. A tip, because I often walk around and hear a lot: please adapt the menu to customer requests. Especially since these are easily achievable requests. An affordable glass of wine for the ladies, a standard schnapps (Jägermeister, Ferner) for after dinner, fries not just on weekends, and a decent sausage... That's it!!!! In any case, we're grateful that, in this day and age, with such disastrous policies, someone still dares to run a restaurant, one that also requires a fair amount of technical expertise and presents challenges. I recently visited Köppel and was pleasantly surprised again! The schnitzels are new to the menu and were exceptionally delicious and freshly prepared – exactly as you'd expect. The prices are also absolutely fair and reflect the quality of the food. The cozy atmosphere completes the experience. You feel comfortable and welcome. A great place to stop after a hike! Highly recommended!

Yes, it's okay. We were out on our motorcycles and were looking forward to a schnitzel, which Google said was supposed to be available there. Unfortunately, it wasn't available. The cheese spaetzle, which they advertised as the best, were partly cold, and a few braised onions and bacon wouldn't have hurt them either. At least the service is on point. Conclusion: OK for a drink, but I wouldn't eat there again.

Perfect as a destination/stopover for an e-bike tour!

A lovely destination for hikers and mountain bikers. We stopped here for a break and enjoyed some food and drinks. The food, however, could have been better. The meatball was unfortunately quite hard and overcooked. The fries, on the other hand, were unfortunately undercooked and rather wobbly. Service was okay.

A very nice place to go for a day trip, where you can also be alone. The food is delicious, and the service is very friendly. We'd definitely go back. Thanks for thinking about the dogs.

After a hike, I returned after a long absence. I have to say... hats off. They really made a splash. The food from Struthof in Betzdorf (spätzle by the glass) was delicious. The wheat beer, too 😉 And a nice and pleasant atmosphere and service. Some of the outside is self-service, depending on what's going on. Totally fine. This won't be the last time we're here. It's worth stopping by again. 👍☀️

All good, simple, very tasty food and drinks. The Krombacher from the bottle is great. Although I prefer Archspring. You should drink what is offered. Our beers here in the region are all good.

Wonderful location in the forest. Top address for hiking or cycling. Unfortunately, there is now Krombacher here, which of course tastes extremely crappy in contrast to Erzquell. The rest is great.

It's great what you did with the Köppel: bright and friendly. We were there today on March 30th, 2024 and are already looking forward to another visit. You are so nice and friendly that it's fun to stop by. And both pea and goulash soup with delicious bread are a dream.

We were there again today for the first time since the reopening. Everything was fine. The menu is greatly reduced. Currywurst, hot meat sausage, soups. But very tasty. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant. Reservation strongly recommended!

Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate, I was there alone🤦(08/27/2021) After a 40 km tour, some wheat before lunch on the Köppel! As always, everything was great, not all alone today! 😂 (09/05/2021) Yesterday I stopped there again after a tour and without having ordered anything I received a freshly poured wheat beer! 👍 (09/23/2021) Stopped there again today for the second time this year and had lunch, simply delicious! 🤤 Stopped there again today after a 52 km tour and the boars were just awesome! 👍🍻(05/28/2022) Simply a dream when you sit down at the table and Alex brings you a cold Keiler without you having to order it!👍(06/25/2023) I think it's a shame that we don't see each other on the Köppel anymore, but then I just have to do my tours over the Otto Tower.🤷

Waren mit den E-Bikes da. Tolle Lage. Leider nicht sehr gepflegt, die Terrasse könnte mal gefegt werden, am Gebäude selbst überall Spinnenweben, der Stromgenerator ist sehr laut. Essen war lecker, nur hat es viel zu lange gedauert, bis Schnitzel und Currywurst endlich parat waren. Die Bedienung war freundlich. Alles in Allem ganz i.O.

Wunderbar am Siegerland Höhenring gelegen. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Wir haben nur etwas getrunken, aber das Essen an den Nachbartischen sah sehr gut aus.

Eine wunderschöne alte Gaststätte mitten im Wald. Hier hat man mal Zeit um den Alltag ruhen zu lassen und gleichzeitig wird man von dem sehr netten Personal bedient. Die Preise sind vollstens in Ordnung (meiner Meinung nach in der heutigen Zeit zu günstig) Man bekommt frische sehr leckere und große Schnitzel, frischen Salat, Pommes usw. Es ist aufjedenfall einen Ausflug wert. Kurz und Schmerzlos Ich bzw wir sind absolut begeistert und kommen sehr gerne wieder

Ich wurde zum Vatertag von meiner Frau zum essen eingeladen. Gaststätte Hohenselbachskopf ( Köppel ) war unser Ziel. Das Lokal war gut besucht. Ich kannte es aus früheren Zeiten. Das Ambiente Urgemütlich aber altbacken. Das Essen war gut, der Preis mit 13,50 Euro für ein Jägerschnitzel mit Pommes eher im unteren Bereich. Das Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Zusammengefasst ein schönes Ausflugsziel welches wir mal wieder besuchen werden.

Schöne und gemütliche Waldgaststätte. Zu Fuß, mit dem Fahrrad und auch mit dem Auto erreichbar. Besonders im Winter zu empfehlen.

Es Schmeckt richtig gut, allerdings muss man sehr viel Zeit mitbringen, wenn dort 10 Leute sitzen und man dann mit 4 Personen bestellt kann das gut und gerne 2 Stunden dauern!

War jetzt innerhalb von paar Monaten 3x mit dem MTB dort. Freundliche Mitarbeiter, Betreiber, inkl. seines Vaters, trotz meist vollem Biergarten, immer für einen netten Smalltalk zu haben. Preis-/Leistung bei Essen und Trinken denke ich normal. Essen war gut und reichlich(8 Kroketten beim Haubergschnitzel, wo bekommt man das noch?), was mir persönlich immer sehr wichtig ist😉...komme bestimmt schon bald wieder🙋🏻‍♂️🍻

Sehr schöne Wanderwege und interessante Gegend mit Lavafelsen. Restaurant ist am WE geöffnet. Achtung genau aufpassen Kellner meint man würde nicht alles bezahlen.
