Gaststätte G7 in Berlin

After a long time, my husband and I went there for breakfast yesterday. It was his birthday, and G7 used to be a regular haunt for us, always our favorite... until yesterday! Since we hadn't been there for a few years, we discovered there were new owners. It's a real shame the couple and the lovely ladies aren't there anymore. I suspect we have Covid to thank for that. Anyway, the new owners are of southern European origin... serving German cuisine? That just can't work! The breakfast wasn't presented with any care. The slice of cucumber on the plate as decoration had probably frozen in the refrigerator, the scrambled eggs tasted awful, the croissant was inedible, and the sausage was pre-packaged, maybe from Aldi. The ambiance wasn't what we remembered. There was no cozy atmosphere. It was very cold inside, the heating was on low, and the counter was completely cluttered with trash – no sense of order or cleanliness whatsoever. We thought it was absolutely awful and were incredibly disappointed 😞. And it was my husband's birthday! We really missed the old management. We're absolutely certain that was the last time we'll be there! It's such a shame... because it used to be our go-to place, a place we loved going to where we knew we'd get decent service, the food was made with love, and it was always delicious!

A small, cozy restaurant with a beer garden. Here you can relax and enjoy a delicious beer and delicious food. The friendly service rounded off our visit, and they now also offer soft-serve ice cream.

We did it again because we enjoyed it so much. We highly recommend G7. We've now tried all the schnitzel varieties, including liver, and most recently the chicken breast fillet pans. It was absolutely fantastic. Wilhelmstraße isn't far away, but the friendly and attentive service makes up for it.

My husband and I wanted to go for an after-work beer last night at 9:30 p.m. on a Saturday. Instead, we were immediately sent away because they said they were already closing. Interestingly, considering the opening hours are until 10:30 p.m. It wasn't the first time. I miss the old management.

With the new operators, private parties have apparently also found their way there. I wouldn't care if the entire neighborhood wasn't bombarded with loud music. Simply rude and disrespectful.

The baked potato with sour cream I ordered tasted okay, but lukewarm. The side salad had been washed, but presumably not spun dry. It tasted very watery. The salad dressing was watery and not very flavorful. The waitress commented: "Then it's probably not her taste (or that of my companion). I'm glad, otherwise I'd think I had no taste at all." The service was friendly and accommodated special requests, but with only one person, they were a bit understaffed. Nice evening in the beer garden.

If you're in Berlin, just stop by. We were there for dinner in the evening and for breakfast the next day. It's simply a lovely place with good food and outstanding service. There's even a cute little soft-serve ice cream stand. Parking is available right next to the restaurant, and you can find space in the lovely interior or around the building itself.

It's worth eating there. The service is friendly and everything is very cozy.

Here, you can still eat like in old Berlin, outside in the cozy beer garden and inside in the inviting brick house. Among other things, there are hearty traditional dishes like "Königsberger Klopse," excellent grilled meats, and fantastic salads. Everything is prepared with absolute freshness. The great thing is: Even those with larger appetites will find their fill here. Even as a "newcomer," you'll be treated very friendly and attentively. No, not everything was better in the old days. But it's nice that something of the "good old days" still remains. I returned the next day and devoured a sumptuous and excellent Old Berlin breakfast – with Harzer sausage and Hackepeter. Truly delicious!

Yesterday we were back at G7 after a very long time. New management for the last five years. We had a lovely seat in the beer garden. The service was very friendly and the drinks came quickly. The food didn't take long either. All the dishes were delicious and the portions were just right. The Kaiserschmarren was also delicious. The four of us had a lovely evening.

We went there for the first time. Today I had the crispy schnitzel with fries. It was absolutely delicious, with a fresh salad on the side, perfect. For dessert, we had Kaiserschmarren (a pancake with pancakes), also very good. Everyone was satisfied. The service deserves special mention: super friendly, they accommodated all special requests, truly outstanding in this day and age. A lovely afternoon. I definitely recommend it.

I was there with my family on May 22, 2025. Of course, I made a reservation in advance, which went smoothly! The food was incredibly delicious and even cheaper than I thought for 5 people! The staff was super friendly; I highly recommend it! That's why it's rated 5 stars with a bee everywhere <3

We ate schnitzel with asparagus and at €24 I don't think it's that expensive. We'll be happy to try breakfast soon. By the way, when the weather is nice, you can sit outside under the chestnut trees.

More of a larger snack bar. Everything is very old, you sit in the kitchen smelling of food. At least the grill plate wasn't that good, out of three pieces of meat only one piece was grilled well. Service was very friendly and quick.

I was there a second time now. Eat directly in the restaurant for the first time. Plentiful, tasty and good price. Now I was there again. This time we only had soft ice cream. In principle tasty, but the quantity for the price wasn't tasty at all!!! I had a children's portion, which was not justified for the price (€2.60). The normal portion for €3.60 wasn't that much larger. You can definitely pay a euro or two more for homemade ice cream, but not for softies in such tiny portions. What a shame!!!!

We were a group of 9 women and had breakfast there, there was a good selection and everyone ordered something different. From the farmer's breakfast to the salmon and cheese breakfast, everything was extremely tasty. The service was very friendly. We'll definitely be back soon.

Pleasant atmosphere, small beer garden for the summer, super nice and fast service. The portions are large enough and taste great. In terms of quality, it is definitely the best restaurant with home-style cuisine in the Spandau area! If the dining room was still at a normal temperature in winter, you could enjoy your stay and give 5 stars for the ambience.

We had a very tasty breakfast there

Good classic German cuisine with charm. We tested the card once and are completely satisfied. The schnitzels are highly recommended and the variations of the Kaiserschmarn are second to none. You can reserve online - and that is also highly recommended. On Sundays from 9:00 a.m. Bunch is offered with a variety of egg dishes and coffee specialties. All dishes are prepared quickly and in top quality. The menu is not superimposed and shows typical dishes including Königsberger Klopsen. The prices are fair and leave nothing to be desired. We'll definitely be back.

Actually really tasty there but it is impossible that the opening times online are not updated. The internet says open you drive there from far away and then it says company holidays at the entrance. It's not complicated to correct it online. Greeting

Nice restaurant with friendly service. Food quality is okay, but less suitable for vegetarians - the menu is very meat-heavy. My salad dressing was pretty tasteless, but the sour cream for the baked potato was delicious!

This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. The bruschetta topping was exceptionally tasty and the schnitzel was first class. The service was very friendly and nothing was left to be desired. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

A lot has changed here. It's really no longer a typical German restaurant, just in terms of the ambience, which is now cooler and more like a snack bar! There are still German dishes on the menu, which we were told are quite good, but also gyros, pizza and the like! We had gyros which were filling and good. The landlord was very friendly and engaging.

We ended up here today and we were absolutely thrilled. It's a nice little restaurant where you quickly feel at home. The food was great, it was tasty and big portions too. The innkeeper was super nice and also very child-friendly. So we'll definitely come back here again.

Delicious food! Worth noting that they are cash only (we found out after we are and had to run ~2km for an ATM), but the food and drinks make up for it.

The G7 is a wonderful and cozy restaurant where regular guests in particular feel very comfortable and are treated to good food. I belong to it... It's great that something like this still exists!

We were at G7 with Grandma on an autumnal Sunday afternoon and had made a reservation. That wasn't necessary, but it didn't do any harm either. The food was delicious, rich and down-to-earth and the service was extremely friendly. This also applies to the kitchen staff, who, when we left the restaurant, took a break because of the limited number of visitors at the time and said goodbye to us in a cheerful and friendly manner. Conclusion: A successful afternoon to your complete satisfaction! We'll be back.

The fact that what Kathrin and Kalle have built brilliantly and has been continued to some extent by their immediate successors is obviously being completely screwed over by the current operator. Apparently he doesn't even read the reviews to change something. Found the same negative reviews from other guests today! Therefore no repetition. Someone is heading towards going out of business. It's actually a shame (we were regular guests for years, now we're gone, but there may be a new, more capable operator in the near future). Kerstin and Gernot

Unfortunately, we can't say anything about the food because we waited for over half an hour and the service staff didn't feel compelled to at least bring us the menu, despite repeated eye contact. The garden restaurant was not even half full. If I could, I would give zero stars. Really terrible service.

Ambiance is pretty basic, and cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. Cobwebs in the corners, dead wasps on the floor and the tables a bit sticky. The food was prepared sensibly. The service was a bit inattentive (stood at the counter with colleagues and talked loudly). Normally you get an invoice when you pay or are at least asked if you would like an invoice. Here you just said the sum and that was it.

A restaurant on the outskirts of the city that is easily accessible by car or bus. The house has its own rustic charm. Typical German cuisine is offered. Unfortunately, the service during our visit was very stressful and sometimes a bit unfriendly. The many flies in the guest room also bothered us. The wait for the food was a little over an hour - but you could hear the chef making the schnitzels fresh. After a brief mix-up between our order and the order from the table next door, we received our food. The salad was fresh and the schnitzels were delicious. The fried potatoes could have been a little peppier/spicier. Unfortunately there was no salt on the table for seasoning. There was a schnapps on the house to say goodbye.

Traditional, Classic Food at G7 Restaurant, Berlin, Spandau An ultra classic Gaststätte, (restaurant) reminiscent of days gone by! Where portions are HUGE, the price is decent, the cooking a little like grand mother used to do Nothing fancy, just decent enough Hausmanns Kost (Classic home Style cooking) which was what the tradesman and workers would expect after a hard days work! The location is unique as it is within a stones throw of the Former Spandau Prison (Rudolf Hess was the last surviving Nazi Criminal incarcerated there until its demolition, after his passing) Also just 2 minutes from my High School and the British Army barracks during these days! As for the restaurant, the food is hearty, tasty and filling! Nothing Gourmet Style, just decent! Great summer evening with perfect weather though! Solid good German cuisine! I had the Wiener Schnitzel with fried potatoes (potatoes were sooo delicious). In my opinion, the price-performance ratio was also right.

The old house and the property are actually really nice and you could really do something with it. But unfortunately this doesn't work on any level. The food is home cooking, which could be really good but unfortunately the taste is only mediocre at best. Overall, as other visitors have described, it seems rather dingy and careless. There are enough service staff, but the staff is inattentive and rather slow and sluggish, especially when it comes to drinks. If you just want to eat something quickly and quickly and don't have any great demands on quality, you can stop here for a while. However, if you want a good meal that doesn't sit like a stone in your stomach for hours, you'd better keep looking. Berlin has many great restaurants in all price ranges and directions.
