Under new management since August... We were there from the first minute! The food is really good! There were four of us there again today and everyone was full and happy! The schnitzel and the duck are a dream! It doesn't get much better than this! The service was also very nice and attentive! A beautiful evening! Thank you ! Gladly again !

For me, the Obere Wirt is a guarantee of a cultivated Bavarian lifestyle. Great, freshly tapped beer, exceptionally good cuisine and all at really reasonable prices. I come here regularly with my family and have never had a bad experience.

If you like Bavarian cuisine, you'll get your money's worth here. The roast venison was very tasty. The portions are plentiful. The extremely attentive and friendly service is remarkable. We always feel very comfortable.

Bavarian inn with a large hall on the 1st floor. Diverse menu where everyone can find something. Prices in the upper price segment, but the quality of the food is good. The half duck and the gourmet schnitzel from the daily menu were a poem. We were totally thrilled when we left the inn after a delicious dinner. Service was very attentive and really friendly.

We were invited to a Christmas party there on December 14th, 2024. We were absolutely thrilled not only by the very friendly staff, but also by the really excellent and plentiful food. Now that more and more restaurants are closing, we (from Gröbenzell) finally have an alternative for good Bavarian cuisine. Please stay like that, we'll be happy to come back.

We were there yesterday as part of an event and received a vegan Thai curry upon request (not on the menu), which was really excellent (surprised us in this otherwise rather rustic kitchen), big praise to the kitchen! Everyone is very nice and personable, we would love to come back here! Fully recommended for vegans too!

Everything was great, only the portion was a bit small.

A traditional inn with still the typical wooden tables and chairs. The portions are more than generous and, as a Munich native, almost strange. The meat was prepared to the desired doneness. We have 2 portions of Kaiserschmarrn ordered to share. The service was nice and the waiting time was also reasonable.

There is still room for improvement when it comes to eating. The venison ragout was just fine. The red cabbage was probably not freshly made and tasted like gingerbread. Way too mushy and too sweet. Meat was also flaxy. The hall upstairs used to be much more comfortable than the Widmann. The service was top. There's nothing to complain about at all. On the contrary!!

Was at the inn for lunch today. The very nice service gave me a warm welcome. I decided on roast pork. This was very tender and delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cozy and inviting. My son even got crayons and coloring paper. The innkeeper also took his time and was available for a chat. Will definitely stop by again for a visit when I'm in the area.

A gem of Bavarian gastronomy before and after the renovation. Classic Bavarian cuisine, great beer on tap, nice host and competent and friendly service staff. The prices are absolutely justified. The “Obere Wirt” in Gilching has a long history. The people of Gilching have been going there for many decades to enjoy Bavarian cuisine (at reasonable prices), to meet up, to chat... There are also larger guest rooms for weddings, etc., and even a theater stage. The “normal” guest room has been beautifully modernized and has become bright and friendly. The food is good, the portions are large. It's best to go with the typical Bavarian dishes such as roast pork, kässpätzle, etc. The salad is always fresh, the service is friendly, and special requests are also fulfilled. Personally, I'm glad that places like this still exist and hope it stays that way for a long time! In summer you can also sit outside.

Excellent dinner a stone's throw from Monaco. I had dinner twice in a row, I was so satisfied. Generous portions with a balance of meats and vegetables. Low price and great hospitality for me who could only speak a little English. Highly recommended for those who want to dine with Bavarian cuisine a stone's throw from Munich. I recommend booking. They also answer the phone in English, immediately putting you at ease.

Ho cenato due volte di fila tanto sono stato soddisfatto. Porzioni abbondanti con equilibrio carni e verdure. Prezzo contenuto e grande ospitalità per me che potevo parlare solo un po’ di inglese. Raccomandatissimo per chi vuole cenare con cucina tedesca a due passi da Monaco.

Very nice restaurant, tried 3 different main courses so far, all excellent. Salad is also very good and fresh. The waitresses are quick and attentive.

But still hidden in the middle of town at the maypole. Parking spaces available. Very friendly and very well dressed service. All dishes have a very nice appearance and are very tasty. Meals priced from 9 to 30 euros. The plates are generously filled.

Down-to-earth Bavarian food with large portions. More mass than class, anyone looking for finesse will be disappointed. Salad was great, but the food only came lukewarm and the pork fillet in the Schwabenpfandl was fried for far too long and was dry and hard. Prices a bit high for the quality. The service was very attentive and friendly. Very busy, parking lot was completely full. There are enough parking spaces in the area. Overall just 4 stars. Despite everything in the surrounding area, apart from another restaurant with the same name, it's the best for solid Bavarian food.

Nice restaurant with a large beer garden in Gilching near Lake Wörth, rustic atmosphere in several dining rooms. Disabled parking spaces next to the house, toilets in the basement and accessible by elevator. There was a rich menu, and we chose salmon fillet, cheese spaetzle and so on The crowning finale is an apple cake. Everything was very tasty and plentiful, we would love to come back.

We were recently invited, I didn't know the place yet, everything from the service to the food was top notch. The salad with the absolutely juicy chicken and fantastically good sweet mustard dressing was absolutely delicious. The older lady who served us was so nice. The food of all the people who were invited there was fantastic. Greetings to the kitchen, keep it up! This will now be my go-to place for celebrating and spontaneously eating out.

Had an onion roast. Was inedible. A thick tendon ran almost through the entire piece of meat. But nobody was interested in that.

We were here for a funeral. The waitresses are super friendly and the atmosphere is great too. Unfortunately, I may have had a bad day in the kitchen because the roast pork (not a crusty roast) was incredibly salty on the edges. Normally I only know this when you salt the rind to make it crispy. Since the piece had no rind, I didn't see the point of salting the edge. It wasn't just a little salty on the edge but also almost inedible. The inside of the roast pork was good and tender. Maybe the chef was just in love, I would definitely give Widmann another chance, despite the mixed experience.

Unsurpassedly good and plentiful food (huge salad plates), pleasant atmosphere on the terrace - except for the endless ringing of church tower bells if you sit there at the wrong time 😉. Very friendly waiters and relatively short waiting times. I think it's really good!

Very good food and great service

You can eat well here all year round, even though I personally mostly end up here in the summer. The best description would be the classic Bavarian village inn with chestnut trees outside, which also provide shade in summer. Unfortunately, this kind of thing is becoming more and more extinct.

Good cuisine for years. The quality of the cuisine has also improved in recent years. The inn is not a gourmet temple. How can it be that prices have risen by almost 44 percent, or more precisely 43.75 percent, within five years? Roast pork took the cake, with an increase of 66.5 percent. A normal earning citizen can no longer afford this. Elsewhere you can find individual dishes, such as at the Sepperl Wirt in Meiling, the Schwabenpfannderl is also significantly cheaper at 18.90 euros (Widmann 24.90 euros). This is no longer understandable even with inflation. I prefer to cook myself and have three portions for the family for the same price. I'm sorry.

Yes, I visited the inn once a year ago and the renovation wasn't even discussed. My opinion of this inn was and still is - beautiful area - warm welcome - friendly staff - very familiar - great food - large portions - food and drinks of a high standard!!!!! We were in the hall for a farmer's theater performance and dinner. The service was very friendly and the food was very good. Price-performance ratio is also right. Gladly again!

I had dinner with my friend today, I think it's so sad. Ambiance is super nice only if you look closely, dusty and dirty everywhere. As soon as you come in there is a waitress standing outside and smoking which is so unfriendly in my eyes and the food was somewhat expected of more, everything was tasteless and some of it was burnt. I found the food much better at Christmas time, it was a lot cheaper for the money. I'll think about whether I should come eat again

Waren zur einer Weihnachtsfeier mit Freunden dort. Der Service war eher durchschnittlich, nicht besonders freundlich. Das Essen war ok, nichts besonderes, preislich i.O., Ambiente war gut, grosser Saal rechts.

Trotz überfülltem Haus bekamen wir doch noch ein Plätzchen. Das Essen war sehr lecker und üppig. Die Gastfreundschaft auch. Super schnelle Bedienung und sehr freundlich!

Nettes bayrisches Lokal. Wir haben hier bereits öfter gegessen und das letzte Mal (auf Grund von Kurzfristigkeit und Feiertag) essen abgeholt und zu Hause gegessen. Es war wie immer hervorragend und sehr vollmundig. Auch die Verpackung war super.

Hervorragender Landgasthof mit perfekter Küche, tollem Service und sehr schön renovierter Gaststube. Wir sind zum 2. mal nach einem Besuch in München ins diesen tollen Gasthof gekommen. Tolle Karte mit lecker zubereiteten Gerichten zu sehr guten Preisen. Zu 100% empfehlenswert. Vor allem der Schweinebraten ist ein Gedicht - so gut habe ich selten einen gegessen.

Genau so was stelle ich mir unter einer bayrischen Wirtschaft vor. Super schmackhaftes Essen. Wir hatten 4 verschiedene Gerichte. Alle 1a. Und der Kartoffelsalat ist selbstgemacht und verdient eine 1 mit Stern.

Ich habe heute eine Mittagspause in diesem schönen Gasthof gemacht. Wunderbar renoviert, extremst sauber. Tolle Speisekarte mit mehreren Mittagsgerichten auch. Ich habe mich für eine 1/4 Ente mit Rotkohl, Knödel und Soße entschieden und das war gut so! Appetitlich angerichtet, eine reelle Portion, auf den Punkt zubereitet, sehr schmackhaft. Ein Augustiner Helles dazu, gut gekühlt und einen leckeren Kaffee zum Abschluss…besser geht es nicht…17€ für die Ente mehr als fair! Die anderen Mittagsgerichte lagen um die 10€, sahen auch lecker aus an den Nebentischen. Ich komme bestimmt wieder!

Mein zwiebelrostbraten war sehr gut, dafür der kaiserschmarn deutlich verbesserungswürdig. Auch die Soße zur Ente war nicht besonders, sondern zu zähflüssig. Der Service ist in Ordnung, ebenso das Ambiente.

Die beste Ente die ich je aß. Bayrisch und saftig. Preise günstig, Qualität hervorragend, Service super nett. Ich komme wieder!

Wir haben unsere Hochzeit hier gefeiert und waren sehr zufrieden. Sowohl mit dem Abend selbst als auch mit der unkomplizierten Organisation und der guten Empfehlungen und Tipps im Vorhinein. Das Essen ist sehr gut und das Personal ist freundlich. Abends konnte übriges Essen und Kuchen unkompliziert eingepackt werden, so dass nichts weggeworfen werden musste. Danke für den schönen Abend!

Die Klassiker aus der bayerischen Küche, sehr schmackhaft. Die Kinder bekamen Farben und Papier, damit sie beschäftigt waren. Wir waren sonntags dort, sogar der Saal oben war gut belegt. Trotzdem keine unangemessenen Wartezeiten. Im Saal oben ist sogar eine Theaterbühne, auf der 2 wöchentlich am Donnerstag eine Kabarettist/in auftritt. Auch bekanntere Gesichter wie Luise Kinseher und Simone Solga.

Der Service war ausgezeichnet. Leider war der Schweinebraten nicht sehr gut, das Fleisch war sehr zäh.

Heute waren wir wieder mal im Gasthof Widmann um nach einem abendlichen Termin noch kurz eine Kleinigkeit zu Abend zu essen. Schon am Parkplatz war zu erkennen, dass der Gasthof wieder gut besucht ist. Es hieß also „Daumen drücken“, dass wir noch einen Platz bekommen. Wir hatten auch Glück und konnten gleich im oberen Gastraum Platz nehmen aber es wäre auch noch Platz in der Stube gewesen. Die Kellner*innen waren wir immer super freundlich und aufmerksam. Innerhalb von 10 Minuten waren die Getränke und das Essen bestellt und den ersten Schluck konnten wir schon wenige Minuten nach der Bestellung genießen. Auch das Essen (Altdorf Burger und Tellersülze) ließ nicht lange auf sich warten und beides war wieder sehr gut. Ehrlich gesagt haben wir hier noch nie schlecht gegessen. Die Portionen sind sehr üppig aber so erwartet man es wohl auch, wenn man gut bayrisch Essen gehen mag. Die Preise empfinde ich also überaus fair. Was ich auch sehr gut finde, man kann auch mit Kreditkarte (Master/VISA) zahlen und ja, die normale EC-Karte geht natürlich auch. Das ist in Deutschland aber auch in Gilching leider noch immer keine Selbstverständlichkeit. Wer also mal auf der Suche nach guter bayrischer Küche ist, darf hier bedenkenlos vorbei schauen. Schaut aber nicht nur vorbei, sondern geht auch rein und schlemmt ein wenig. Und für den Sommer sei mir noch der Tipp erlaubt. Der Biergarten ist super, Schattenspendende Schirme sind gespannt oder man sitzt lauschig unter Bäumen. Ich kann den Gasthof nur wärmstens empfehlen.

Ein Gasthof der besonderen Art!!!! alles wirkt harmonisch, das Lokal ist sehr gemütlich, das Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam und natürlich das Essen ein Genuss. Ohne Tischreservierung geht es Sonntags nie, wurde uns erzählt. Leider nicht in unserer Nähe, sonst wären wir Dauergäste.

Sehr schöner Biergarten. Die Bedienungen freundlich und schnell. Vor allem aber war das Essen, sprich der Schweinebraten, hervorragend.
