Man merkt, dass die Gastronomen aufhören. Das Fleisch war sehr zäh.

Schönes bayrisches Wirtshaus. Uriges Ambiente. Sehr aufmerksamer Service. Leckeres Essen. Bei schönem Wetter besteht die Möglichkeit draußen zu sitzen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Absolut empfehlenswert! Das Essen hatte eine hervorragende Qualität und war geschmacklich top. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der aufmerksame und freundliche Service – man fühlt sich hier wirklich als Gast willkommen. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Waren zu zweit eine Kleinigkeit Essen. Aus dem Tagesmenü Spargel und Schnitzel gegessen. Leider waren die Kartoffelscheiben zu fett und etwas zu weich. Krosser wäre besser.. Ansonsten alles im großen und ganzen gut und freundliche Bedienung. Preise im mittleren , oberen Bereich.

Gute Bayerische Küche. Es ist gut besucht. Es stehen einige Parkplätze zur Verfügung.

Nachdem die meisten Gasthäuser am Montag wegen Ruhetag geschlossen sind,haben wir kurzfristig einen Tisch für 10 Personen reservieren können. Die Auswahl der Speisen ist groß. Neben Tageskarte gibt es Kroatische und internationale Speisen. Bei Allergien werden auch Sonderwünsche berücksichtigt. Die Speisen waren großzügige Portionen und gut abgeschmeckt. Ein Empfehlung für einen Besuch. Im Sommer ist ein Biergarten vorhanden.

A nice place with a pleasant interior. It’s suitable both for a calm dinner with friends and for spending time alone. The drinks and food are tasty, with good traditional dishes. There are options for both meat lovers and vegetarians. The prices are also reasonable.

The culinary offerings are hearty and Bavarian. For many years, I've sampled my way through the entire menu and found every dish to be (very) good. The prices are fair, considering the portions are so large that (as a slim person) you can't finish everything, so you take it to go and end up with another meal 😉 Unfortunately, takeaway food is still packaged in (not environmentally friendly) plastic containers. Since I've gone vegan, the selection has become extremely limited. A vegetarian and vegan menu would be much appreciated! The restaurant is Bavarian in style, cozy, with all sorts of interesting details. There's a terrace and a garden under impressive, old chestnut trees. There's plenty of parking, but it's also easily accessible on foot from the S-Bahn (suburban train). After your meal, a leisurely stroll to Lake Starnberg, about 5 minutes away, is a great way to aid digestion. Now, years later, I'm adding to my review. I've often requested an expansion of the vegetarian/vegan options. Today I was once again met with a dismissive, smirk-filled response: "No, we certainly don't do that." I ordered fried potatoes and roasted (!) vegetables by phone. Based on several bad experiences, I clearly emphasized four times that I wanted roasted, not boiled, vegetables. When I picked up the order and discovered that I had received boiled vegetables again (as so often before), I called in a huff and was met with nothing but excuses and rudeness. Not a word of apology! They did, however, offer to get me roasted vegetables. When I arrived, I naturally voiced my displeasure again, and once more I was met with nothing but excuses and rudeness – no apology. I work with customers myself and would never dream of such behavior! I won't spend another euro there!

The food was absolutely fantastic! Our waiter was outstanding! The atmosphere was great, although I personally found the chairs a little uncomfortable, but that's just my opinion. Experience it for yourself; a visit is a must! We were traveling on a slightly more expensive budget, so I'd estimate the cost at €30-40. However, it's definitely possible to spend €20-30 per person.

Unfortunately, we were rather disappointed with this inn. To begin with, the staff was friendly and attentive. The schnapps was complimentary. However, the food was anything but good. The Braumeister Schnitzel had virtually no horseradish under the breading, and the accompanying fried potatoes tasted of old grease. The Spätzle with the goulash were the same. The drinks (beers) were poorly poured. The light beer had too much foam. The ambiance was inviting. The prices are reasonable, in my opinion. We wouldn't come back.

We came to the inn for lunch. The service was friendly, and the waiter and the food arrived at the table exceptionally quickly. Prices are relatively inexpensive considering the portion sizes. I ordered Wiener Schnitzel with fries. It was served with three schnitzels, a generous portion of fries, and a small salad as a starter, which came with the schnitzel.

The food was excellent as always! I've been a regular for years, but I would appreciate some measures to reduce the noise level. I find it much too loud when it's busy. I'll definitely be back! 😊

We arrived at the restaurant around 9:30 p.m. after the Bayern Munich vs. Hamburger SV soccer match, and fortunately, the kitchen was still open. The restaurant is quaint and cozy, and the servers were very friendly. The schnitzel was exceptionally delicious, the portion large and absolutely filling. Highly recommended.

We followed our host's recommendation and visited this restaurant, and it was a wonderful surprise. The welcome was warm, the service attentive, and we truly appreciated the friendly atmosphere. The dishes were typical of the region, generous and flavorful, allowing us to experience the local cuisine in an authentic way. Delicious food and the portion sizes are top

After several years, we went back to Starnberg for dinner at the Au. We'd been there often in the past and wanted to see if our fond memories would hold true... and yes, they did. The service was still very friendly and our orders were served promptly and to our complete satisfaction. We opted for the grilled meat and the ox shreds – both were excellent! The grilled meat was well-prepared and juicy. It was served with tomato rice, ajvar, and finely chopped red onions. The ox shreds from the sirloin in a dark pepper sauce and fried potatoes were well-cooked and tender. The pepper sauce had an intense peppery flavor with a slightly sweet note. The portions are generous; no one goes home hungry. If you're looking for good home-cooked food in a cozy atmosphere, this is the place for you. Hopefully, the Gasthof in der Au will continue to exist in this form for a long time to come...

We just wanted a drink after a bike ride and spotted this inn with a beer garden while passing by. So we stopped and went in. At first, we were told we could sit wherever we wanted, and the waiter agreed. But just a minute later, he returned with a colleague. They discussed things in a foreign language, and then we were given a brief, mumbled reply: Sorry, it's reserved, we'll be pushed together later, you'll have to go somewhere else. That was unexpected—supposedly, everything was still available earlier. But hey, it can happen. So we moved seats and waited for the menu. After a few minutes and several exchanges of eye contact, the waiter came to take our order. Even then, the atmosphere was strangely unfriendly, abrupt, and irritable. When we said we'd just like to order two drinks, we were met with disappointed and almost annoyed looks. The menu was snatched from our hands without a word, and the waiter disappeared, grumbling, and went back to arguing with his colleague. Then the same employee came over again and told us we needed to sit somewhere else, behind the restaurant. It may be true that you can only get drinks in the back beer garden and have to order food in the front area. But that's exactly what you could have communicated in a normal way – friendly, respectful, and without this constant complaining. Imagine how good it would have been if we had simply been greeted with a smile. If you talk to guests normally. When someone asks: Hey, do you want something to eat or just a drink? You're wearing cycling gear, you probably only want a shandy? Look, there's the beer garden back there, you're welcome to sit there. Jackpot. Pure hospitality, 5 out of 5 stars, a decent tip. But like this? Nothing, niente. Instead, nasty looks, complaining, and arguing in a foreign language in front of the guest, only to then ask them to leave – a no-go. Thanks, but no thanks. I recommend everyone in Starnberg and the surrounding area avoid this restaurant. Treating guests so disrespectfully is simply sad. It's a shame – Bavaria could be so beautiful. Great location – terrible staff!

A lovely, charming inn, tucked away in a secluded spot. The service was very friendly, and—in my case—the spare ribs were delicious and, above all, oversized. For a big eater like me, it was a welcome addition. I'd gladly return!

We stopped here during our bike tour and chose a spot in the beer garden. It's a very nice, quiet place to sit, the service was prompt and uncomplicated, and everything was perfect. We enjoyed the food very much. My wife had a roast pork with extra crust, and I treated myself to the Braumeister schnitzel from the daily special. The breading was crispy and very tasty. We'll stop by again on our next tour.

The best cheese spaetzle I've ever had in Bavaria. Authentic homemade spaetzle with hearty, full-flavored mountain cheese, served with fried onions (not the convenience store-bought Hamberger!), but real, large fried onions. Served with a generous mixed salad with a delicious yogurt dressing. Big breweries could learn a thing or two from Croatians – delicious, and at a fair price!

The Gasthof in der Au is a traditional restaurant with a cozy and rustic atmosphere. The food was super tasty and the portions were relatively large. We ate roast pork with potato dumplings and dark beer sauce and salmon with salad. We were very satisfied and would definitely recommend the Au.

A wonderful place with lots of character. Each of the dining rooms has its own ambience with lots of musical instruments and other artifacts that give it a nice sense of history. We decided to order traditional decision and we’re not disappointed! I don’t see Sauerbraten often on menu so I took a chance and it was really fantastic! Very tender, and the sauce perfectly complimented it. We had a cozy corner table and enjoy a very relaxed lunch there. Nothing to complain about!

I tried the Wiener Schnitzel and the Käsespätzle – both were excellent! The schnitzel was perfectly breaded, crispy and tender, the cheese spaetzle was nice and creamy with spicy cheese. The portions are really generous, no one goes home hungry here. In addition, there is fast and friendly service, which makes the visit particularly pleasant. Der Service war unmotiviert und nicht gerade freundlich! Speisen ok, wenn auch wenig neue kreative Gerichte vorhanden. Portionen sind eher gross und wurden heiss serviert. Insgesamt war unserer Familie der Service sehr " launisch" und es hat unsere gut Stimmung leider etwas beeinflusst! Es geht deutlich freundlicher und viel mehr prof. Gastinteresse wäre toll!

Cette fois vu le beau temps nous avons profité du très agréable biergarten, sous l'ombre rafraîchissante des feuillages. Les tables sont assez espacées, l'accueil souriant et le service empressé mais sans forcer la main. Le choix des plats est assez large, cuisine traditionnelle bavaroise mais aussi des pays de l'est, avec des propositions du moment très agréables. Les plats sont bine cuisinés, avec un effort de présentation, servis avec classe, et d'un bon rapport qualité prix. Le seul bémol de manger dehors c'est d'être parfois perturbé par quelques insectes, penser à placer un sous-bock sur le verre de bière!

The portions were very large and of really good quality. Everything freshly prepared and very tasty. The price/performance ratio is absolutely fine here. The service was very friendly and always there when you needed it without being intrusive. The beer garden has a good atmosphere. However, cushions on the chairs would be very nice. Especially if you stay a little longer. All in all, a restaurant that you can recommend with a clear conscience. We'd love to come back.

There isn't much for me to write here. But I have to say I was thrilled by the beautiful decor of the restaurant, the rustic style and all the instruments that were hanging there, it was simply rustic. Then the food was super delicious, I ordered roast pork. The roast was very juicy and soft and I liked the crusts, which I was able to bite into very well. The portions were also very generous. The staff was also very attentive and friendly. We would love to come here to eat again.

This beautiful restaurant is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac with a cozy terrace and large chestnut trees. The service is super friendly and you immediately feel welcome. The decor is rustic and Bavarian-style cozy. We chose noodle soup, sauerbraten and ox shreds. The food came to the table after a short wait, looked and was very tasty. The portions were huge and very tasty.

Extremely good dishes (and large portions) at very fair prices. Very traditional dishes, such as meat pancakes with savoy cabbage, are absolute highlights / "soul food", taste like Grandma's 🥰 Owners / staff are very friendly and extremely accommodating. The dining room is very nice and cozy. I love coming back here again and again!

A country inn perfect. FOOD SELECTION VERY GOOD YOU SHOULD THINK BEFORE HOW MUCH HUNGRY YOU ARE. E.g. roast pork with dumplings and salad. I had exactly 5 slices of meat and 2 dumplings. Normally that's not possible. Cost 23.50 euros. The service staff is super nice, they always ask if everything is OK or if you would like anything else. So price performance is definitely possible.
