We stopped at the inn for dinner. A rustic atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious, beautifully presented food.

We'd been mountain biking the day before and treated ourselves to a bratwurst at the outdoor grill. Everything was excellent. Good quality, and at €4, I don't think it was any more expensive than anywhere else. The next day, we went to the restaurant and were warmly welcomed and served in a quaint dining room. The food was excellent. This is true craftsmanship. I have to say, I ate the best pork knuckle ever there—and I come from Bavaria—the land of knuckles. I absolutely can't understand some of the negative reviews.

Very good as a stopover for food if you have time

Not again. Unfriendly staff. They loudly warned us not to consume any food or drinks we brought with us. This wasn't necessary, as we had bought something there. The way they handled it was a disaster!

There are bratwurst and other snacks. No restroom.

They serve good Thuringian bratwurst. Highly recommended. It's a 3-minute drive from Oberhof.

We only had bratwurst and currywurst. They were good. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio wasn't right. Currywurst with a roll was €6, bratwurst with a roll was €4, and shandy was €4.50, which is way too expensive for takeaway food.

We had the pork knuckle and the hut-style platter and were absolutely thrilled. The food was truly delicious and plentiful, and the service was very friendly and efficient. The price was also completely reasonable.

Very unfriendly!!! We lost our appetite, even though the sausages must have tasted good. One of the unfriendly innkeepers I've ever encountered nearly lost it and yelled at me as I sat down at one of the two forest taverns outside the beer garden and got my thermos while the rest of the family bought the sausages. You can also address the problem in a reasonable manner, right? By the way, we weren't sitting in the way, as it was already close to closing time.

While passing through, we treated ourselves to a bratwurst here. It was really tasty and very well cooked.

We stopped here after a bike ride. Delicious food at fair prices and a cozy atmosphere (just like "the old days"). We'd love to come back!

Definitely not going back. Extremely unfriendly. They just ruined our day with their unfriendly attitude. We bought two sausages for €4 each and water for €3.20. When we said, "Oh, better not the water," the lady at the cash register said in a very condescending tone that it was too late and that the tax office would come. She continued to mutter about what people think they're doing, as another customer approvingly agreed with me from afar about her water. When we then wanted to get ketchup, the man at the grill just mumbled to himself about how anyone could have ketchup without paying for a sausage. I pointed out to him that my boyfriend was packing it up and we were welcome to show it to him again. He reacted ignorantly and cynically. It makes me sad how tourists are treated here and I advise everyone to find out about prices and everything else before being treated unfriendly. I was really looking forward to showing my friend from Mexico my hometown, and I find it absolutely appalling how our customer service is towards tourists. A great example of Thuringian hospitality!

We wanted something for dinner. Unfortunately, the only seating was outside. The restaurant closed at 5 p.m., and it started to rain. So we didn't eat there. It was a shame, really.

Nice beer garden. Unfortunately, it's only self-service and serves typical snacks. The grilled bratwurst was okay, but unfortunately, the sausage deteriorated in quality because it was kept warm for too long.

Today only the snack bar was open, the toilets were not accessible and a mouse kept running into its hole outside. The food was solid, but had an aftertaste due to the different circumstances.

Today on the way back from Oberhof we stopped at the “Gasthaus Zur Wegscheide”. Unfortunately only the snack bar was open and not the restaurant. No matter, a currywurst for me, a Rostbrätel for my wife and a bratwurst in a roll for our 3-year-old daughter are enough. In terms of quality, however, it was a real letdown. The sausage in my currywurst was lukewarm and the curry sauce was completely cold. The worst currywurst I've ever had. The Rostbrätel was probably quite chewy and the bratwurst wasn't great either (our little one only wanted the roll after tasting it, which is why I had the sausage). The worst thing about the visit, however, was that not even a 3-year-old girl was allowed to go to the toilet there. Instead, you have to take off your child's ski suit on a forest path in sub-zero temperatures in the snow and hold him back. Really the last thing like that.

We stop here very often on our trip. It's one of the few stalls that are always open and offer fresh Thuringian bratwursts from the charcoal grill.

A must when driving past, always great. Just crossing the street is a bit of an adventure when there is a lot of traffic.

Discovered by chance. Solid, cozy, good food. The tarte flambée with meat black pudding was unusual but extremely tasty.

Reasonably priced, rustic selection that tastes good

One of the unfriendly innkeepers I have ever experienced. We weren't allowed to use the toilet despite being offered to pay €1 each for flushing the toilet. The innkeeper was half-freaked out because we had the audacity to politely ask for a toilet. I think that everyone has been in the situation of having to relieve themselves and I find that absolutely impossible! The roster used to be much better, but I will never stop there again anyway because of how unfriendly it is.

So we have been there many times before the Autobahn 71 existed from 2001 to ???. You had to take the Gotha exit on Autobahn 4 to get to Oberhof or Suhl and the path inevitably led past the large parking lot at the crossroads, where you can get delicious Thuringian grilled sausages from the charcoal grill every lunchtime. This year we were traveling to Suhl again and we deliberately didn't turn onto Autobahn 71, but took the old route because of the bratwurst. We discovered that after 23 years the same grill master was still there and sold us the delicious bratwursts. 😋😋😋😋👍👍👍👍

Not recommended if only the grill stand is open. You're not even allowed to go to the toilet here because the restaurant is only open on weekends. Unfriendly staff. You can save yourself.

Unfortunately, the advertised plum cake was sold out. Very nice older gentleman who served us expertly. Parking and hiking trail right in front of the door.

Normal quiet parking. 45 passed calmly... Nearby is a forest... Nature... I didn’t go to the cafe. A burger that costs a kilo of meat is too much. There is no toilet, but who needs one when there is a forest nearby? )))

Wonderfully located, just before Oberhof. Friendly, fast service. Great Thuringian bratwurst. However, for 4.80 in hand?

Instead of a restaurant, only a snack bar with a beer garden without a toilet. Question about toilet was refused. First it said there was no toilet, then it said the restaurant was closed. And last but not least, when I asked where they relieved themselves, they said they didn't need a toilet. A beer garden with drinks and alcohol served without a toilet in 2024 is not possible. Where is the building authority and health authority? Never experienced such unfriendly innkeepers. 1 star is still too much.

Experienced Thuringian inhospitability!! On September 20th, 2024, around 3 p.m., we decided to come from Oberhof to stop at the “Wegscheide” inn. Since the restaurant didn't open until 4 p.m. according to the display, we decided to buy our food and drinks at the self-service counter and at the bratwurst rack in order to consume them in the adjacent "beer garden". It was surprising that the wheat beer wasn't poured and only a beer mug was provided. There was no glass at all for the apple spritzer, a plastic bottle with a tight screw cap; upon request, a paper cup was handed out, rudely. Then we entered the “beer garden”, which was unkempt, unclean and carelessly designed. Now it became clear to us why the many other guests were eating their food and drinks standing up. After eating I had a (urgent) human need and asked the roaster on the grate for a toilet, "detailed" answer - closed, my request to make accessibility possible, answer ask the boss where is the boss, silently pointing to the right. Asked the supposed boss about using the toilet, answer as before. My question: should I relieve myself in the bushes of the “beer garden”, answer: you can do that, we have nothing against that. I think I unintentionally became a little annoyed and an authoritarian lady intervened in the conversation. And she had an ingenious solution to my problem: just go to Oberhof or Luisenthal, there are public toilets and you'll never have to set up shop here again, we don't need your sales, and she disappeared into the hinterland without saying anything else. So, quickly into the car, to the nearest forest path, armed with a pack of speed tissues... the beer garden was too public for me and not nice enough, because Thuringia is a friendly hiking country.

Delicious steak with potato salad. It was very relaxing to sit in the beer garden.

I was traveling by motorcycle during the week. If I asked if there was anything to eat here, I would be yelled at if I couldn't read, self-service only. In addition, the toilets were closed. The grilled sausages on the grill were wrinkled and looked noble (from yesterday). I continued driving.

Today in rainy weather we tramped from the Ohra Dam to the crossroads and the long-awaited Thuringian bratwurst was just ready on the grill. Yummy . I always go to the snack bar when I'm nearby on my MTB and I've never been disappointed. Always fresh and delicious like at home. Today, July 18th, 24, I ate 2 bratwursts and a pilsner with them. Perfect
