Unfortunately only with reservation, although only 1 hour until closing and 2 tables available. More like an excuse.

Today on the way back from Oberhof we stopped at the “Gasthaus Zur Wegscheide”. Unfortunately only the snack bar was open and not the restaurant. No matter, a currywurst for me, a Rostbrätel for my wife and a bratwurst in a roll for our 3-year-old daughter are enough. In terms of quality, however, it was a real letdown. The sausage in my currywurst was lukewarm and the curry sauce was completely cold. The worst currywurst I've ever had. The Rostbrätel was probably quite chewy and the bratwurst wasn't great either (our little one only wanted the roll after tasting it, which is why I had the sausage). The worst thing about the visit, however, was that not even a 3-year-old girl was allowed to go to the toilet there. Instead, you have to take off your child's ski suit on a forest path in sub-zero temperatures in the snow and hold him back. Really the last thing like that.

Best food. I always make a stop before I drive to Suhl.👌

We stop here very often on our trip. It's one of the few stalls that are always open and offer fresh Thuringian bratwursts from the charcoal grill.

A must when driving past, always great. Just crossing the street is a bit of an adventure when there is a lot of traffic.

Discovered by chance. Solid, cozy, good food. The tarte flambée with meat black pudding was unusual but extremely tasty.

Reasonably priced, rustic selection that tastes good

One of the unfriendly innkeepers I have ever experienced. We weren't allowed to use the toilet despite being offered to pay €1 each for flushing the toilet. The innkeeper was half-freaked out because we had the audacity to politely ask for a toilet. I think that everyone has been in the situation of having to relieve themselves and I find that absolutely impossible! The roster used to be much better, but I will never stop there again anyway because of how unfriendly it is.

So we have been there many times before the Autobahn 71 existed from 2001 to ???. You had to take the Gotha exit on Autobahn 4 to get to Oberhof or Suhl and the path inevitably led past the large parking lot at the crossroads, where you can get delicious Thuringian grilled sausages from the charcoal grill every lunchtime. This year we were traveling to Suhl again and we deliberately didn't turn onto Autobahn 71, but took the old route because of the bratwurst. We discovered that after 23 years the same grill master was still there and sold us the delicious bratwursts. 😋😋😋😋👍👍👍👍

Worst bratwurst I've ever eaten. Half raw and lovingly twisted with your fingers 🤢 It's a shame to sell something like that.

Not recommended if only the grill stand is open. You're not even allowed to go to the toilet here because the restaurant is only open on weekends. Unfriendly staff. You can save yourself.

Unfortunately, the advertised plum cake was sold out. Very nice older gentleman who served us expertly. Parking and hiking trail right in front of the door.

Normal quiet parking. 45 passed calmly... Nearby is a forest... Nature... I didn’t go to the cafe. A burger that costs a kilo of meat is too much. There is no toilet, but who needs one when there is a forest nearby? )))

Wonderfully located, just before Oberhof. Friendly, fast service. Great Thuringian bratwurst. However, for 4.80 in hand?

Instead of a restaurant, only a snack bar with a beer garden without a toilet. Question about toilet was refused. First it said there was no toilet, then it said the restaurant was closed. And last but not least, when I asked where they relieved themselves, they said they didn't need a toilet. A beer garden with drinks and alcohol served without a toilet in 2024 is not possible. Where is the building authority and health authority? Never experienced such unfriendly innkeepers. 1 star is still too much.

The food would be super delicious. I would eat there again at any time.

Experienced Thuringian inhospitability!! On September 20th, 2024, around 3 p.m., we decided to come from Oberhof to stop at the “Wegscheide” inn. Since the restaurant didn't open until 4 p.m. according to the display, we decided to buy our food and drinks at the self-service counter and at the bratwurst rack in order to consume them in the adjacent "beer garden". It was surprising that the wheat beer wasn't poured and only a beer mug was provided. There was no glass at all for the apple spritzer, a plastic bottle with a tight screw cap; upon request, a paper cup was handed out, rudely. Then we entered the “beer garden”, which was unkempt, unclean and carelessly designed. Now it became clear to us why the many other guests were eating their food and drinks standing up. After eating I had a (urgent) human need and asked the roaster on the grate for a toilet, "detailed" answer - closed, my request to make accessibility possible, answer ask the boss where is the boss, silently pointing to the right. Asked the supposed boss about using the toilet, answer as before. My question: should I relieve myself in the bushes of the “beer garden”, answer: you can do that, we have nothing against that. I think I unintentionally became a little annoyed and an authoritarian lady intervened in the conversation. And she had an ingenious solution to my problem: just go to Oberhof or Luisenthal, there are public toilets and you'll never have to set up shop here again, we don't need your sales, and she disappeared into the hinterland without saying anything else. So, quickly into the car, to the nearest forest path, armed with a pack of speed tissues... the beer garden was too public for me and not nice enough, because Thuringia is a friendly hiking country.

Delicious steak with potato salad. It was very relaxing to sit in the beer garden.

We were at the street sale, it tasted really delicious. Everyone is very nice here. Very clean. Keep it up!!!

If at least one public toilet were available. The bratwursts are good, but that's about it. The crossroads won't be there for much longer.

The food was very tasty, we had beef roulade with Thuringian dumplings and red cabbage, everything was homemade, the service was very friendly and quick, we will definitely be back

Went here for the first time and had a treat. Venison roulade with chanterelles, Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. Many thanks to the chef. We'll be back! Staff was very friendly.

If you're ever in Thuringia, you should take a break there too. The bratwurst was super delicious!

Unfortunately roasted meat without onion, potato salad was ok, but it can't be that there is no toilet, Only from 4 p.m. when the restaurant opens. An impossibility!

A wonderful rustic forest restaurant as a resting point on a long hike, with really tasty food and friendly hospitality. The asparagus soup was divine 🫶

The sea bass is incredibly delicious. The salad served with it is gigantic. All ingredients were fresh and lovingly prepared ❤️ We had a wonderful meal and will definitely come back. Thank you 🫶

Very old, there is only a snack outside during the week, probably due to the lack of staff.

I was traveling by motorcycle during the week. If I asked if there was anything to eat here, I would be yelled at if I couldn't read, self-service only. In addition, the toilets were closed. The grilled sausages on the grill were wrinkled and looked noble (from yesterday). I continued driving.

Known for the Thuringian Bratwurst, which is grilled in front of the building. You should try them. Unfortunately not always open.

Best bratwurst far and wide. We recommend. Already existed in GDR times. The only thing I would like to point out is that it would be nice if the prices for hot meals relating to the restaurant were listed in the showcase. There are only offers for food without a price. That's why we didn't go in. But the roster is very good.

The bratwursts at the Wegscheide near Oberhof are always an experience. I love coming here to eat bratwurst.

Today in rainy weather we tramped from the Ohra Dam to the crossroads and the long-awaited Thuringian bratwurst was just ready on the grill. Yummy . I always go to the snack bar when I'm nearby on my MTB and I've never been disappointed. Always fresh and delicious like at home. Today, July 18th, 24, I ate 2 bratwursts and a pilsner with them. Perfect

An expensive snack bar with a beer garden. Use of the toilet was refused on the grounds: We are a snack bar and don't need a toilet. But beer garden? Do yourself a favor and drive by quickly!!!

Discovered the inn by chance. Roulades with dumplings were delicious. There was even extra sauce. I have never witnessed anything like this. Great service and great food.

Super tasty roasts from the local butcher in fresh rolls from the charcoal grill. There is no more Thuringia for hikers and guests. Plus a fresh one from the barrel.

Very nice, courteous service, rustic restaurant and very tasty food. We were just passing through and were therefore very pleasantly surprised. We'd love to come back if the opportunity arises.

The Rostbrätel was very small and bland for the price. We waited in a short line and the service was very quick and polite. Someone in front of me got a large roast meat, which convinced me to take one too, which was only half the size in comparison.

I really thought that you could eat a decent Thuringian bratwurst here. But unfortunately none. In terms of taste, it's an absolute zero. It only tastes like fat without anything reminiscent of bratwurst. Very unfortunate. ☹️

I can only repeat what has already been written: the tone of the bratwurst seller is anything but friendly.

Thuringian Rostbrätel is something different! Not seasoned, not even pickled. At best it was a steak fried on the charcoal grill to keep it warm in the cooking pot. A clear violation of the name “Thüringer Rostbrätel”! The innkeeper has probably never eaten “Thüringer Rostbrätel” before. Underground. The bratwurst was okay - local butcher, probably. If you like mustard with bratwurst - please, but not this nonsense. It's appalling how tourists and the uninformed are being taken for a ride here and how the reputation of Thuringian cuisine is being damaged.

You were greeted very friendly. Large selection of dishes. Something for everyone. You can sit outside and inside. Highly recommended for cyclists and motorcyclists. Always happy to go there.

When we were there only the grill was in use. The restaurant is only open for a limited time. We were able to sit in the very nice beer garden. However, we were denied the toilet 🚽 🚽. What does going into the forest mean? The bratwurst with potato salad was very tasty.

It's a pleasure to eat a Thuringian bratwurst from the grill at the crossroads. On Saturday we were very disappointed 😞. The size was like a Viennese, the taste was not convincing. We hope the old Thuringian bratwurst will be on the grill again next time. We would be pleased.

A place where time has stood still. That's probably exactly the appeal. Thuringian cuisine, good and still inexpensive. Bratwurst and Bratwurst are also sold at the stand in front of the door. There is also enough parking space for hiking.

Overpriced bratwurst and brattel. I think they are taking advantage of the ignorance of the West Germans. Even if the sausage costs €10, people would immediately say yes. Go to Luisenthal at the train station as it is cheaper and cleaner. P.S Pay attention to the pictures! These are always the same, i.e. the reviews are bought.

Very nice snack bar, nice service and the Thuringian bratwurst is awesome. I always eat here with family... There is no other reason not to stop there... If you are nearby, definitely stop. 100% quality... Prices are too OK, I think it's fair. I've never had Rostbrätl before but it's all fresh...

Great hosts and an honest restaurant with classics, interpreted in a modern way. We ate there twice on the weekend. Bratwurst, roulade, schnitzel, Wegscheideteller and the best fried potatoes I have eaten in a long time :-)… all super tasty and at honest prices. Thank you very much for the great time

Very unfriendly bratwurst seller. My girlfriend just wanted to use the toilet, we would have left €2, but it is apparently impossible for normal people who are not guests of the house to be allowed to go to the toilet. Conclusion: Not suitable for a simple visit to the toilet.

Hello community,... there's nothing to complain about the bratwurst or the dishes in general, everything tastes great,... Ultimately I have to give one minus point, which concerns the gentleman's unkempt fingernails when handing out the bread rolls... Not very appetizing, a smile would also be appropriate.

Ambiance is cozy. The stuffed rib roast is to die for. Finally a restaurant that works without glutamates and flavor enhancers. A chef who can still cook is not a given these days. Of course the dumplings weren't grated themselves, but they were pimped with brown butter :-). I'll definitely come back.
